We can’t walk on eggshells to appease emotionally fragile people. If someone can’t handle hearing their favorite perfume being insulted, they’ve got some work to do on overcoming fragility. I really value honesty above all. We are living in a sea of lies because people can’t handle basic truths anymore and I’m really getting tired of it.
I'm so with you on this. And it's not just the world of fragrance. It's politicians who suddenly can't bring themselves to define the word 'woman' in public'. That sort of madness and emotionally brittle intolerance etc. I'm tired of it too.

I'm with you. I don't get it either. Fragrance is so intricately woven into aspects of the human 'bio-machine' that we're not consciously aware of...memory, cultural background, skin chemistry, personality and aesthetics. All of it. Someone in Hokkaido is most likely not going to love the same compositions that someone in Dubai or Paris does, y'know? So yeah, I'm with you on this.
One of the reasons that I feel skeptical about fragrance reviews is that the same verbage is used. Like “it smells like a mom”. It seems like some reviewers watch other reviewers and use the same exact descriptions. Seems to me that if fragrance is subjective, they should be able to describe it differently than everyone else!

I so agree with your choices especially Angels’ Share & anything with Cannabis. I just can’t understand why anyone would use Marijuana in a fragrance 🤢
Perfumes are subjective 😊 … so one should NOT be offended or repulsed if another person doesn’t enjoy the same fragrance/s ❤ Love your channel and I enjoy watching your videos very much!

Fragrances is such a personal thing. Nobody should get annoyed by you not liking what others like. I agreed on Oud Satin Mood (a headache inducing), Vilhelm house (nothing special about it) and Aventus for her (never liked that bitter smell in the drydown not only on my skin but on others' too).
You right, Florabotanica is horrendous!!!😂 I absolutely hate Erba Pura! Omg! Oh and Crush on Me and Mashumaro. How on earth those 2 are supposed to be wearables??😂 Finaly, I DON'T GET what's the fuss about BR540😅 All I can smell is hospital amd latex glove!!😂 Anyway, love the video!❤ you're hilarious when you talk about rose and caca😂😂

I absolutely love when you do videos like this Greta! It’s like a guilty pleasure of mine watching videos like this lol. I think you said the magic words, when you were talking about Creed, that people feel the need to convince themselves that they love a fragrance, because it’s loved by so many, or it’s hyped. I found myself doing that last year and put an instant halt to it. Feeling so much better about my fragrance journey since the. Great video 🧡
I will do more of these, but I love so many more than I hate. I try to give light to unknown fabulous fragrances. But I see the need to keep them in perspective with what I *don’t* like and what is I think is unworthy of all the praise.
Have you read Gabe Oppenheim's 'Ghost Perfumer'? How the dynamite contained within those pages has not exploded in the land of frag comm (and the beauty world in general) I have NO IDEA. If you haven't read it, order it now as the juiciest, most scandalous summer read you've ever sat open-mouthed over. I have no idea why nobody has spoken about the information in this book and I sense it's merely the tip of the iceberg for what's out there in terms of industry gossip and genuine scandal. Highly recommend, despite the often strange writing style.

Greta, I was really disappointed when I blind bought Scherzo, but i can honestly admit that I love it now. I use it to layer with other fragrances and I appreciate its complexity even more.
What do you layer it with?
I have Scherzo and I think the issue is to only spray once or twice

I feel so much better with all these comments. I honestly thought I was alone and the weird one.
Oud Satin Mood smells so oily to me, which is probably weird lol, but I get a definite textural experience with it. Makes me sick to my stomach to smell it. I am curious about Oud Silk Mood since it's supposedly smoother and lighter, but I'm running to find a sample of it. I also don't like Grand Soir. It smells like toothache medicine to me (Anbesol to be exact) lol. Gentle Fluidity Gold is another pass for me because I can smell the ambroxan in it way too strongly to like (can't stand that note at all). MFK overall is not a house for me.
I actually like Oud Satin Mood and Feminin Pluriel, but I appreciate every opinion ❤

I always love your honesty regardless if you like or not a fragrance. It's good to get different perspectives, I feel ! I also don't get the hype in many fragrances and I will be a target for saying this one but... I don't like baccarat rouge at all haha. There is something about the sweetness that is just blehh to me. In addition.... the fact that I have smelled it in every shop of the mall so many times has put me off as I prefer unique scents. But hey, as long as those who wear it are happy that's what matters! I will never spend money on it though hahaha. Great video! Love to you❤
There are lots of people in the comments echoing their disdain for BR540. You clearly aren’t alone.
I think the key is finding an influencer with similar tastes and styles that you can take guidance on new finds from. @GabbyLovesPerfume and @DemiRawling are the two with the most similar tastes for me. We don’t agree on EVERYTHING, but most often we do.
But like you said, always taking in a variety of opinions as well.
Gasp! Angels share! Clutching my pearls… 😂😂😂😂 it’s my favorite. But that’s what makes perfume so fun. It’s ok for you to not like what you don’t like. ❤

I just love when you do these. It's so helpful because I'm newer to fragrance and I'll tend to second guess some of these "masterpieces" which aren't always appealing to me. Love many MFK, but Oud Satin Mood in small doses only! Amyris Femme Extrait I had in a decant and it's a hard pass. It's refreshing to hear both sides.
Never second guess your own opinion. It’s the only one that matters at the end of the day, when it comes to fragrances 😘
Your tastes will change, just like with food. But consume what YOU prefer.

Hilarious Greta! I agree with all of these. Bought Angel’s Share after The Fragrance Appentice’s amazing long form video but I can only wear it for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Love to hear what creators dislike just as much as what they like. Hearing both sides really helps us get to know you. It also helps us feel like we're "normal" for not liking some of the most hyped fragrances. The one I resonated with the most is Scherzo. I👏Just👏Can't👏With👏It. No way. Nope. Uh uh. And so many creators that I really respect and admire absolutely love it! Really, I love the house of Miller Harris. So many others of theirs are just beautiful! Try Myrica Muse if you'd like to give MH another shot. It's simple but beautiful and smile-inducing. 😊 Thanks for the great content!

I feel the same way. I think it's a beautiful fragrance (except there is this annoying used ashtray undertone) but it makes me think of how Don Corleone's office must have smelled in The Godfather lol.

But it smells better than the fragrance described as that "naughty woman whom you know what shes gonna engage in after work" Sorry but, it actually smells like she did it at work in an office with no opportunity to wash after. I was like "Ew! You Like That!?"

I once tried Angels Share on a tester strip, it stunk the whole area out after only 2 sprays it was so strong. Definite no for me!
I have the travel spray and I’ve tried it a few times in different temps. Not for me and it was so hyped!! We are all different 😊

Definitely give scherzo another shot, I absolutely love it and I have had other people buy it after smelling it on me. Maybe it just reacts badly on your skin and if so a shame but there are plenty of other gorgeous ones out there ❤
I love oud. Even some animalic oud sometimes. But I hate the oud for greatness DNA! I don't understand how some people love this fragrance and the hype about it🤦♂️

I agree with your take on so many fragrances you mentioned. I also had purchased a number of those mentioned because of review descriptions and what I believed was a paralleled fragrance journey. OH the disappointments! I HATE, BR540, Oud for Greatness, Satin Mood (most all MFK for that matter) Scherzo and my list is similar. I feel like the fragrance industry is on a big con....Let's see how much we can make people pay for this monstrous mess of a fragrance. I have just learned through endless wasted dollars to align my trust in reviewers based on their integrity and their tastes being similar to your own, once you figure that out. I have taken, even the most expensive failures and thrown them directly in the trash because I was so disappointed that I would not even hand them down to anyone. BTW, I subscribed after watching this episode. Thank you for your integrity and thorough explanations as to why these particular fragrances failed for you.
You should try some vintage fragrances, they are amazing. Older Guerlains (Shalimar, Apres L'Onde, L'Heure Bleue, Samsara, L'Instant, Nahema) Chanels (Chanel 22, Coco Eau de Parfum), Organza by Givenchy, LouLou by Cacharel. There are so many juwels out there, but nobody talks about them...

Oh I agree!! Oud Satin Mood I needed to get my hands on immediately !! Soon as I smelled it - it made me 1) think MY nose was broken 😆 & 2) stay FAR away from Oud Scented fragrances. I even came back to it once my nose “matured” and I still didn’t care for it. What I do love about OSM - you only need a spray and it is VERY long lasting. Oud Bouquet, Oud for Greatness - That, I love!
Omg!!!! I agreed on everything!!! W the exception of A Share! My top 3 most hated that people love 1 Mango skin, that is pure skunk smell pew in me! 2 MFK Oud Satin Mood! So so 🤢 gross! 3 TT Kirke, it’s an instant scrubber for me! Great video! I definitely had fun watching you roast/trash talk these fragrances!

Nothing like a tall cool glass of hateraid to refresh me in the morning. I agree with you on all of these with the exception of a few that I haven't tried like God of fire. I've been reluctant on that one because a few reviews have said it smelled synthetic. Though I'll still try it eventually, for sure

I used to really love Angel’s Share but the cinnamon can be very overwhelming. I plan to try it again in the dead of winter when I tend to crave sharper fragrances. I have to agree with pretty much all of your dislikes. I also never understood Florabotanica. I did get a pleasant floral opening which immediately dried down to minty weed 🤮 I do really love Poets of Berlin from Vilhelm, but it gives me a similar vibe to Xerjoff Dama Bianca which I much prefer. As far as God of Fire I can completely understand what you’re saying but it did take me several times of wear testing to understand it. Now I actually really love it. I don’t listen to what others have said about it I just like it for what I feel it is which is a pretty fragrance lol.
This is fun. And I SO agree on so many. Oud Satin Mood. To me its that camphorous oud that makes me queasy. 😅 but I love Scherzo! We all have our likes and dislikes, that’s how it goes. Thanks for sharing 💗
My most hated perfume was La vie est belle from Lancome. I tried a few times but every time all I wanted to scub off my neck before I throw up.

Hi Greta! I agree with you about Oud Satin Mood, how can people actually enjoy it?! Same with Angel’s Share. I can bear it for like 2 mins, after that it’s super annoying. Today I’ve tested Bianco Latte and I totally can’t understand the hype, it’s so linear and… boring. Testing is always advised. 😅
Funny coz I was so inlove with oud satin mood the first time I got it. I even thought it could be my signature scent. And I think at one point I oversprayed a bit too much, and now I am repelled by the smell 😅
I really tried to love Aventus for Her. Like I really tried. I just couldn’t. I got a 2ml decant the first time and nothing really happened. Yes, I could smell the opening, and it reminded me a lot of the masculine version, but after that it was gone. A few months later, I received a larger sample with another purchase so I gave it another try. I sprayed the whole sample for a full wear and it was underwhelming to me. A friend of mine had the bottle, so I gave it a last try and still, I couldn’t smell it on me after a few hours. Everyone loves it, I just can’t.

Me, too, Greta, with so many of these! With Oud Satin Mood I get absolutely zero violet and very little rose, no sweet, powdery stuff, and the oud really takes over on me. Same with Oud for Greatness, too- smells really bad on me, too. I can't do Angel's Share, either- smells like a bad shopping mall candle on me. LOL, I have always wanted to try Scherzo because Clemence loves it, but since we have so many similar dislikes of hyped frags, I won't rush.

Omg HATED Oud Satin Mood for years! Was throwing away my decant the other day and gave it a quick spray before tossing. Had to dig the sample out of trash 😂. Will be adding a full bottle this fall.

I felt the same about Scherzo when i first smelled it I’m like what’s special about this??? I was pissed because it was a blind buy.. I live in nyc and people don’t have time to stop. I was walking on the Upper East side (old money) and this wealthy man chased me down to ask me what it was so he can buy it for his wife. I thought that was so sweet. So i started layering it with vanilla oils and legit men are addicted to it lol it’s like… are there pheromones in it? Idk. Now I appreciate the scent in the heat of the summer. It’s fresh, delicate but strong and leave a gorgeous trail. I clearly love it now lmfao. So strange but i felt you when you said .. y’all like this? I didn’t. 😂😂

Didn’t like Angel Share, Oud Satin Mood and Oud for Greatness was awful. I really expected to like Scherzo, but wasn’t even tempted to buy the travel size. Was excited when my local shop got Vilhelm, but that line was a no no no. I’m still watching reviews, but trusting my nose for a change.

I agree re Vilhelm perfumeries. I’m about to return poets of Berlin. Lol. I feel this way about instant crush (though I have and like it), intense cafe goes back n forth as to how it smells on me. Florabotanica I surprisingly like. I hate scent of MJ but the dry down of it is so nice and fresh and the MJ isn’t the main player. I agree with angels share which I will probably sell and god of fire….is a no for me. Lol.

Some of them are just laughable to me they are considered niche. I don’t get it either. I wouldn’t even buy them if they were regular designer prices. If I had bought out all other cheapies at a discount store (I like adventures of blind buying cheapies, guilty pleasure plus the rush I get, lol) then maybe I’d buy them because I won’t cry over $10-$25. But $200+?! No thanks! They aren’t spectacular.

I wasn’t a fan of angel share either. But maybe a year after the hype train I tried my sample again and i like it! I think it was a combination of being annoyed by the hype and not giving it a full wear test. It turns out I like the dry down. That said I am happy with my travel size.
Also I stay away from anything with cannabis too. Don’t even bother telling me it doesn’t smell like weed. I can smell weed when there isn’t weed listed in the notes 😂😂😂 I hate that smell so much. Florbotanica I have no interest in even trying.

Agree with you on SHL God of Fire, blind bought it and sold it. Just ok, nothing special. To me it smelled like an Escada release, synthetic super fruity and didn't last over 4 hours. For the price it's a no.
Body chemistry can affect how a scent will work on one person to another not to mention the time of year. No apologies needed. Your thoughts are appreciated even a year later.

I’m with you on the cinnamon; I love the apple and the liqueur facets of Angel’s Share but the cinnamon is too strong for me. It goes into the medicinal territory
I don't 'gel' with Vilhelm either. Kurkdjian's entire line leaves me cold too (the only fragrance of his that I own is Tihota for Indult). Some of the well known masterpieces which even the best perfumers in the world seethe with envy over wishing they had created them, don't work for me at all and I'm not insecure about my assessments. It's not a slight on them, it's simply skin chemistry and all the highly idiosyncratic elements of a person combining, like memory, cultural background etc. For example, Feminite du Bois is raspy and shrieky on my skin, far too high pitched an aromatic on me. Portrait of a Lady has a 'cloves'n'hairspray' raspy rose vibe that is horrible on my skin. PdM's Delina's tart rhubarb gives me a headache and smells far too generic for my tastes. I tried. It's not for me at all. If I want something in this general category I'd go for MDCI's 'Cio Cio San'; the milky lychee mixing with the rose'n'citrus gives it a creamy, unusual dimension.
Oud for Greatness is okay but I'd never by a full bottle and do not understand why so many women coo over this and raced for the hype train. I also despise green figs, violet and iris-forward fragrances and bitter pettigrain vibes also. However, I love 1889 Moulin Rouge and that's a really powdery iris so there you go. Zoologist I've already ranted about elsewhere online so I'll muzzle myself here. Big white florals are kryptonite. Isabey does a lot of these white floral extravaganzas so that's another house that I don't gel with. However 'Sir Galahad' by Isabey is gardenia in top AND mid notes mixed with tobacco and it's a masterpiece. So there you go. It's possible to fall in love with a fragrance that has a note pyramid that makes one scream with repulsion. That's paper. The thrill is reality. It's astonishing how different a fragrance can be when you wear it. It's the magic trick that compels us all, that we're all so excited about discovering hidden out there in the fragrance world. I don't care for the hype train whatsoever, temperamentally I'm not inclined to join in with any effervescent, communal raptures over products being pushed by aggressive marketing teams. I just do the frag safari on my own as a lone wolf hunter. 💖 PS= I'd love to know which fragrances you strongly believed you would despise going by the description but which you stunned yourself by loving once you tried it on yourself.
Delina is very astringent tart on me too. I have to layer with Exclusif or Rosee to tolerate.

Ditto on God of Fire. It's ok but nothing I'd wear all the time. I'd add Cocoa Moon. People made it seem like the greatest summer beach fragrance and I didn't like it at all. Awesome content and you have the best taste in this community.

Too funny!! This is what is so fun about fragrance. You'll smell something and have a visceral reaction while someone else is absolutely raving about the same fragrance. I realized I'm not a cinnamon person. Gave Angel Share to my Hubby. Couldn't do Oud Satin or Silk Mood. Gave me a headache. Had to scrub off Initio Absolute Aphrodisiac. Xerjoff Erba Pura gave me a massive headache. Nishane Vain & Naive...hard pass!

I blind bought Libre Intense and it is the most headache inducing smell, it's not well balanced, too sweet and that lavender on top of it all meah. At least the bottle is nice to look at :)))
I feel the same about Scherzo. But something tells me it might be a grower. So I shall be circling back often. I love Miller Harris as a house. I also don’t like cannabis in fragrances. Having worked in addiction services, it just reminds me of the terrible places that folks often go too, as the smell of cannabis was strong and that saddens my soul xx
