It's horrible considering the price point and the gorgeous interiors of the DB9 and DB11. In the DB9 you can fold down the atrocious Garmin so all you have is gorgeous wood and leather. What were they thinking? The switchgear and vents look like they came out of a Nissan Versa. So disappointing.
It's way past early 2000's. More 2016-2017. More a BlackBerry approach in center console. Some people like Buttons. Even the Most recent non Mercedes infotainment was 2012-2013 level.
I don't mind the buttons & the infotainment system is fine. I mind the cheap gray plastic look & switchgear. Compare those buttons and vents to the ones on the new Porsche 911. Or the old Vantage. It's a big step back and I don't understand it because the exterior is gorgeous!
@@MikeKayK There's some sketchy switchgear borrowed from Volvo in it (mirror & seat controls) but overall, the DB9 has one of the most beautiful car interiors ever made. The leather, wood, alcantara headliner & fancy gauges made it feel ultra-premium. My mom had one & I recently sold it for her. My wife couldn't care less about cars and she drooled all over that thing. Everything about it feels special. Very sad to see it go; I would've bought it from her if I had space for it. I agree on the DBX dash/center stack (the seats are still beautifully done). Aston is in serious financial trouble and it's showing.

Doug, I think you are incorrect about the transmission being used in this car. I believe the AMG GT uses a dual clutch and this uses a torque converter auto.
Stranger Happened the dual clutch is way better. I went to test drive both cars. If the Aston had a dual clutch I would have bought it, but instead I am looking at a 2017/18 R8
I really agree with the font problem, on the dash board. As a graphic designer, I can’t explain why, with so many hundred of fancy fonts available on the market, designers of that car did not propose, at least, something more cool and contemporary font letters than... Helvetica Italic.
When Doug got to the part about describing the exhaust note the first description that came to my mind was, "It sounds like a woodpecker on steroids!" The interior is almost equal to a Miata. I agree with Doug's reserved and respectful review.
I miss the old aston gauges. The way they moved opposite to each other and they were silver and understated. Definitely a distinctive look. Although Ill never be able to afford one so I doubt they're taking my opinion into consideration lol.
At 1:30 you‘re wrong. The AMG GT and the Vantage don‘t share the same transmission. The AMG uses a 7 speed dual clutch. The Vantage uses a 8 speed ZF auto torque transmission.
I saw one of these Vantages at Sheets the other day. It was matt black with lime green trim pieces. I felt kind of envious. It looked SO GOOD. The guy in it was my age. Now I have seen the interior with the Ford Fiesta, Dollar Tree plastics and stupid font pulled out of a 1990s Microsoft Word document. With a price tag over $70,000 more than my 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house...I'll keep my Kia Stinger GT.

I don’t recall the previous vantage having a good interior the early ones used ford switch gear. The only reason to get this over the AMG is for the appearance. It’s worse in every other way and costs considerably more.
Just for the record, I’m in the UK and I have a 2019 Vantage and the hood latch is in the passenger foot well. So it seems it doesn’t matter if it is left or right hand drive.

Aside from the lock and unlock buttons being kinda far apart, I like that there are so many buttons in this car (not that I can afford it). It means you can change settings like AC quickly and then get back to what’s most important: enjoying the drive. It’s way better than having too few buttons and constantly fumbling through touch screen menus trying to perform simple tasks.
The interior looks cheap af, and the new design removed all the character the previous Vantage had. Sorry but at this price point there are far better options. This looks like an expensive Miata, especially from the side

Rented a 2022 from Enterprise Exotics with 500 miles on the odo and it was well worth the $700/24 hours. Screaming V8 and drop top vibes really give this machine an exhilarating experience.

you missed the part about the car being front mid-engine, the engine is placed well behind the front wheels which is probably why the dash protrudes so far into the passenger space.

First, a little overview. Doug use to upload video always at the same time, exactly at 9:00 AM local time of San Diego. Now, im gonna start the quirks anf features of this situation discussing the fact that Daddy Doug actually thought about timing, because his audience is not in a really bad time the moment he uploads, California is in the earliest zone but the other 3 main time zones in the USA are all later in the morning. This of course also includes Dougs Canadian and latin American viewers. moving to Europe we find out that time there is actually pretty good to watch a Doug demuro video. Here in Spain where im sitting myself, its 18:00 when doug uploads. In fact, the time difference between the western countries (Spain and Portugal) and the eastern (Russia) is roughly just 1 hour, so basically Dougs whole European audience can comfortably watch some quirks and features in time during the evening. The problem is, India and Oceania, where douglas also has a bunch of viewers, are literally in the middle of the night when thisss occurs, and we all know that the great majority of most liked comments are posted a few minutes after the video is uploaded, so there you go, u got the answer to a question u didn't care about but u also didn't think about.
I find the headlights, hood silhouette, and the roof look like an MX5. The front grille has Ford vibes, and the rear diffuser, which seems kinda out of place, looks rather German, possibly inspired by Mercedes AMGs.
It's so cluttered and counter-intuitive....like the button placement makes little sense, and the push button P R N D are spread out way to much, the D button is all the way on the passenger side! Wtf? I like push button drive, but manufacturers should design them like Dodge did back in the 1950s with them all clustered together on the far left where only the driver can reach them(only modern electric instead of cable operated like Dodge's were).

The fonts are NOT italic. They are all caps, but not italic. Having opened hoods hundreds of times, the latch on the passenger side is more comfortable, no slithering under the steering wheel, for one. I only know two people who actually drive Astons, and they love all the quirks. The marque really knows its drivers.

Well, I must be getting there. I nailed Doug's scoring. I live in the Mission district of San Francisco. Now, as you know, restaurants and cafes have built temporary sidewalk street sitting areas. Dolores Park cafe is one block away. We like this setup..a lattice overhead breaks up the sun. But because the park has become much more of a neighborhood mecca, goofballs with their Subarus and Mustangs and bikes with super noisy pipes show off all day long. They don't come off the line fast, they just hog the airwaves. Sometimes they keep circling. The noise gets old really fast. Who cares if you're on the freeway. But neighborhood thunder is making me consider getting a bazooka.

you missed the part about the car being front mid-engine, the engine is placed well behind the front wheels which is probably why the dash protrudes so far into the passenger space.

THISSS is a youtube comment and today im gonna show you why you rarely ever see comments made by asians or oceanians in THISSS channel. First, a little overview. Doug use to upload video always at the same time, exactly at 9:00 AM local time of San Diego. Now, im gonna start the quirks anf features of this situation discussing the fact that Daddy Doug actually thought about timing, because his audience is not in a really bad time the moment he uploads, California is in the earliest zone but the other 3 main time zones in the USA are all later in the morning. This of course also includes Dougs Canadian and latin American viewers. moving to Europe we find out that time there is actually pretty good to watch a Doug demuro video. Here in Spain where im sitting myself, its 18:00 when doug uploads. In fact, the time difference between the western countries (Spain and Portugal) and the eastern (Russia) is roughly just 1 hour, so basically Dougs whole European audience can comfortably watch some quirks and features in time during the evening. The problem is, India and Oceania, where douglas also has a bunch of viewers, are literally in the middle of the night when thisss occurs, and we all know that the great majority of most liked comments are posted a few minutes after the video is uploaded, so there you go, u got the answer to a question u didn't care about but u also didn't think about.

I find the headlights, hood silhouette, and the roof look like an MX5. The front grille has Ford vibes, and the rear diffuser, which seems kinda out of place, looks rather German, possibly inspired by Mercedes AMGs.

It's so cluttered and counter-intuitive....like the button placement makes little sense, and the push button P R N D are spread out way to much, the D button is all the way on the passenger side! Wtf? I like push button drive, but manufacturers should design them like Dodge did back in the 1950s with them all clustered together on the far left where only the driver can reach them(only modern electric instead of cable operated like Dodge's were).
The LC500 convertible has a 10x nicer interior for almost half the price.
If you buy this over an LC500 you are wasting your money. Plus the LC will not depreciate near as much

Excellent review Doug of the Aston Martin Vantage! Despite its shortcomings, I will certainly take this car as a daily driver.
The fonts are NOT italic. They are all caps, but not italic. Having opened hoods hundreds of times, the latch on the passenger side is more comfortable, no slithering under the steering wheel, for one. I only know two people who actually drive Astons, and they love all the quirks. The marque really knows its drivers.
It has the same gearbox? I thought the AMG GT series were 7-speed DCT’s whereas the vantage has the 8-speed ZF?

Well, I must be getting there. I nailed Doug's scoring. I live in the Mission district of San Francisco. Now, as you know, restaurants and cafes have built temporary sidewalk street sitting areas. Dolores Park cafe is one block away. We like this setup..a lattice overhead breaks up the sun. But because the park has become much more of a neighborhood mecca, goofballs with their Subarus and Mustangs and bikes with super noisy pipes show off all day long. They don't come off the line fast, they just hog the airwaves. Sometimes they keep circling. The noise gets old really fast. Who cares if you're on the freeway. But neighborhood thunder is making me consider getting a bazooka.
