    • @toast_busters
      @toast_busters Месяц назад +6

      I wonder how good of a ticket that would be. The two of them were top contenders early in The Democratic primary last time, and I seem to recall Pete having a lot of support from moderates. I know that Republicans, especially Fox News, love to shit on both of them, but a lot of the claims that they make seem to be more about how untested both of them are. I know Pete got crap for stuff with the airlines or the train disasters, but is that really technically his fault? And as far as Kamala goes, it's hard to say that they're criticisms of her aren't just because she's a black woman. I think it's going to be interesting on that merit alone that you would have a ticket with a black woman and a gay veteran, because then you would have to call the Republicans out and bait them into not commenting on it. I think Trump wouldn't, he definitely wouldn't, but the base would really struggle with those being the opponents. You can't make fun of them in the way that you make fun of Biden because you just look like a bigot.

    • @EvelynRyley
      @EvelynRyley Месяц назад +5

      This would also sell well with young voters. We can criticize idpol, but a mixed race black/indian woman president and decently charismatic gay man could excite and mobilize a lot of younger people, especially with how hard republicans are going on the anti gay rhetoric. We cover three of the biggest issues with the GOP, racism, abortion, and anti queer policy and rhetoric. I genuinely think Buttigieg is the best option

    One thing I really like about Pete is that he's also capable of using rhetoric rather than talking down to people when it matters (not in the Senate, _always_ talk down to Senators). In discussing public transit I saw in an interview where the cliché point was "well, we can't do what Europe does because we're not Europe", and his rebuttal was more or less, "why is it they can figure it out but we can't? Don't Americans, citizens of the greatest country in the world, deserve at least as much as Europe?" This line of argument especially I like because it forces that emotional connection to break. You're an America-First patriot, but you think Americans don't deserve the best? Square _that_ circle.

    For voters that care about those sorts of things over policy, Harris is more unlikable than Biden. She's not a great candidate. An open convention with possibly both Whitmer and Sanders in the running would be the best outcome. Whitmer has a lot going for her, and she would be more palpable for Democrat establishment than Bernie.

    I know it's cutting it way too close, but I really kind of am for an open convention. I just think this has been a remarkably QUIET administration. I feel like I heard more from Biden as Obama's VP than I heard from him as president. I also feel like I heard more from VP Biden than I've heard from VP Harris. The only one I see speaking well and often in the administration is Buttigieg. I have no fondness for the guy, but at least he can advocate effectively for the things he cares about. I can't tell if Harris can't do that, or just doesn't care to do so.

    If Democrats can tell Joe to step aside, when will republican leaders grow a spine to ask Dump to step aside, he's like the same age and age aside, everything else he is guilty of and his demeanor alone are not presidential qualities.

    Race AND gender pay gap are both valid issues and I'm expecting right wingers in the replies to disagree since they disagree that there is discrimination against people of color and women in the job market
    PS: If you disagree then please address both the race AND gender pay, not one or the other but both.

      @@Blackgriffonphoenixg Of less than 1 cent... unless you use the unadjusted number, in which case you are literally arguing for the same pay for *unequal* work, which kind of goes against the slogan.
      And for under 38's it's blatantly in favor of women, and the younger you get the more it flips, which means we are firmly in fighting for men to make more territory.... unless you don't actually want the genders making the same. We are literally already past time to decide if Feminism means equality, or befitting women at the expense of men. We've already picked benefiting women over men, on income at least.
