    My wife just bought me a 2005 Road King Special on Wednesday for my 40th birthday present. I’m on cloud 9 right now. I’m new to riding, kinda of. Well, it’s my first bike ever, let’s just say that. I don’t have a full face helmet. Just the half one that came with a face mask and eye wear. No windshield at all. My first little up grade will be a back rest. I have one for the passenger. So far, I’m in love with my bike just as it is🥰.

      Congrats on the bike & enjoy. Maybe consider the full face helmet later, it will help on the highway for sure

    I use a headset in my helmet for music. Most people don’t want to hear loud music coming from someone else’s speakers wether is a car or bike. As far as the headlight, I normally don’t ride at night. Too many deer around where I ride out in the country, so I try to avoid riding at night. I guess it depends where you ride.

    I've got a 2013 RK Classic. Windshield: on or off depending on my mood, Sound System: Yes, AFTER you know the bike and how it feels, LED Lights: YES, all around. If folks rolling in cages see you, they generally don't hit you! Handle Bars: Yes, something that fits you. I put on 10" mini apes (some call them Police Bars) HUGE Difference. Also, think about the seat if you going to cover long distances.

    I have a 2010 Road King Classic purchased new with 40,000 miles currently. I really can’t see trading it because it’s been great so far. I was guided to Heritage Classic handlebars by the dealer instead of ape hangers. I didn’t want to go too high in the first place and he said all original wires and cables would work saving me money. The wind does get to me so I bought a Memphis Shades fairing and have three different windshields that I can use based on my preference for the ride. I also installed fork wind deflecting wings. LEDs at all points and passing lights wired directly from the original switch but eliminating the high low switch so they are on at all times high beam or low. I can still use the original windshield or go without altogether making many options for rides. Im 69 years old and planning a 3000 mile 6 day trip to Glacier Park in July. Ride safely everyone.

    Another sub, not for a giveaway, but for content.
    I shunned ape’s for years. Finally ended up with a bike with SHOULDER height+. That’s the sweet spot for comfort for long rides. It’s about blood circulation. I will never have anything but ape hanger bars; unless it’s one of my non-daily collection bikes.

    every rider should wear a full faced helmet no matter if your bike has a fairing or not. my buddy was wearing a half helmet and was thrown from his full fairing bagger in an accident. he landed on the sidewalk curb . . . face first

    I’m buying a 04 Road King with 26 thousand miles is it worth the buy and are they engine good

    • @shadkeepsgoing
      @shadkeepsgoing  6 месяцев назад +1

      Depends how it was maintained and if it has a built motor or not. 26k miles isnt to bad when the bike has been maintained

      Sliding down the road using your face as a brake because you were knocked unconscious on impact, has a funny way of changing your perspective.
