  • LAS TERRENAS: EL CATEY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT | THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW | SOLO TRAVEL
El Catey (AZS) International Airport is only a 40-minute drive, 20 km, from Las Terrenas. Officially called Aeropuerto Internacional Presidente Juan Bosch it serves the province of Samaná in the Dominican Republic. My Airbnb host arranged a private taxi to meet me at the airport. Cash only, $80 US or 4300 pesos. On departure, I rode in a minivan with 6 other tourists, cash only, $22 US, 1240 pesos each.

If I want to visit Las Terrenas, which airport is better? Puerto Plata or El Catey? I live in USA. Very like will be transferring in Dallas or Houston?

I haven't been to the Puerto Plata airport. I chose the el Catey airport because it is only an easy 40 minute taxi ride. I took a direct flight from Toronto. Some flights only go to El Catey once a week...so if you miss that flight, you risk not getting there until the next flight. Some tourists told me they overnighted near Puerto Plata before their departure day. Either way, it is worth going to Las Terrenas! Thanks for watching.
