PUERTO VALLARTA WALKING GRINGO GULCH FROM EL CENTRO| | HOLLYWOOD STARS| SOLO TRAVEL
Gringo Gulch was the home of Hollywood Stars Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. Movie director John Houston came to Puerto Vallarta in the 1960’s to film the movie “Night of the Iguana”. The movie made Puerto Vallarta famous; at the time it was only a small fishing village. After more wealthy Americans came to build lavish homes on the northern bank of the Cuale River (Río Cuale), the locals named the neighbourhood “Gringo Gulch”. On top of the hilL, incredible views of El Centro, the Rio Cuale, and the famous Church, Our Lady of Guadalupe. Safe walk for solo travelers!

Hi I will be traveling solo is it safe for a woman traveler and do you remember your room number ??? so I can request that view😊 thank you
Hi, sorry, I can't find the record of my room number. Suggest you email the hotel and request a room with shade, upper corner of the building which backs on to the school playground behind it. I had views of the playground from my kitchen window. I had a a room on the 4th floor, but found out third floor is better. The roof on the 4th floor heated up more! It is cheaper to book thru booking.com than through the hotel. (I am not sponsored for saying that). I had to to book thru the hotel to add on days I could not get thru booking.com. I wanted 7 days in the same room. The kitchenette not great but functional and good fridge. Very safe traveling solo by bus. But I took Uber from because it was hot out! BTW, I am going to start doing videso about travel tips for solo travel. What topics/tips would you like to see covered?
Hi Nancy! I just came back from my cruise and I wanted to let you know that your videos helped us A LOT in Roatan. Without your knowledge we wouldnt be able to experience the perfect day we had. We went on our own to the west bay beach and did snorkeling by ourselves. Everything went great. Thank you so much for the valuable tips you gave us on this video!!
That is so great to hear! I'm glad my videos were helpful!
Such a delicate eco system i hope someday it will thrive
Yes, everyone can do their part, beginning by knowing not to step on the reef, not touching the coral, the starfish, etc. And if taking a boat tour, hiring ecologically-oriented companies. Thanks for watching! Did you view my Walking tour of West Bay Beach? It's link is on the video. Thanks for watching and please subscribe. It's free!
I wanted to overnight, but my ship was leaving. I enjoyed hanging with the locals. They told me they don't have internet and nobody really has phones. It's incredible. It is quite poor and dirty on most of the island. I hope to return there in a few years.
It’s true, there are some parts of the island that are not well kept up and has pockets of poverty. However it depends on where you go. The locals I met all had phones because they worked in tourist areas. It's unfortunate you didn't have time to see West End nor West Bay, or some other areas of the island.
Lo que noto es que nos estamos quedando sin costas. Wow!
Si, es un problema con el cambio climático. ( I hope you understood your comment. google translate "what i notice is that we are running out of coasts." Estudio espańol por que voy a ir Puerto Vallarta en dos dias!

Chair and umbrella are free at Beachers?
Go to their website and ask to be sure. . I think if you eat there, then chari etc. is free. Or if there has been an arrangement made with the place you are staying.
Thanks for sharing! May be what I’m looking for. How far is bus ride to PV?
about 15 minutes. Not sure how often the buses run.

Good morning my boss lady, how are you doing today, amazing video 🎉
Thank you!
Beautiful place
It really is!
I have stayed in Mango bay 4 times between 2004 and 2011, nice but very pricey. After Covid the price went up again. I now stay in the palm beach condominiums next door which is a self-catering complex. When I’m in Barbados, have my own pool and the sea is at the end of a very lovely garden. The wildlife in the garden alone is worth staying their for on its own. I was fortunate to be their Nov 23 and just returned from 10 days in last week of May. Massey the supermarket across the road, has a very good deli counter which I would defo recommend, and chill with a beer or 2 at the TML bar . Chat to the locals who are very nice people. Absolutely love Barbados and can’t wait to go back very soon.🇧🇧
Thank you for the info. I am going back for 2 months, Dec.2024-Feb. 2025.I too love it there. Will do more videos. I will check out the palm beach condos. Yes, the deli at Massy's is good for take out dinners and lunches for the beach! Thanks for watching. For a change of scenery, check out my videos about my drive across Canada, solo, in my campervan, 2 years ago.
Hermoso video. ❤
Gracias!
Stayed here in February 2022 and LOVED it ! Plan on returning soon .

Oh my goodness, in 5 more days I'll be there with my husband for our first vacation in 5 years. We had to cancel our 2020 Barbados trip because of Covid and this is the first chance we've had to return We're staying at Waterside, and I can barely contain my excitement. Thank you for your extremely helpful videos!
I'm so glad the videos were helpful. Can you please give me some specifi feedback about what you enjoyed and what you found to be helpful? Your feedback will help me for my future videos. Thank you!
Great video, I have shopped at massy's, both in Barbados and Trinidad outlets. But I have to say that my best supermarket memories was my first visit to Winnipeg Manitoba, 1977. Nothing compares to Canadian and American supermarkets for quality and variety of produce. I would even include supermarkets in Treviso Italy.
Supermarkets and local markets are great travel memories. In the French side of St. Martin, the supermarket was full of French cheeses and other French staples and gourmet items. Every travel experience is unique, which is why I love to travel, meet the people and the culture. Thanks for watching!
Wow this is a really awesome and helpful video! Would you say it’s better to do this first or see the sloths first if we are on a one day excursion? I read somewhere that the stingrays are out more in the morning. Also I think the sloth park is the other direction from port.
Usually the water is calmer early in the morning, so better to go snorkelling first. The wind can pick up, and then you get wave action, and less visibility. Water taxis are an easy way to get around. Check out my video about West bay beach for more details about the whole beach area, restaurants, water taxis. Thanks for watching!
@@nancyssolotripsandtips thank you!
Congratulations! I am from Guadalajara, a close city from Puerto Vallarta, I never had seen as interesting information about "casa iguana" and its beautiful village as yours, my next vacation will be there, tks so much for your information.
Thank you! You will enjoy Casa Iguana. FYI, I stayed there as a tourist from Canada. I don't live in the village, but many ex-pat Canadians and Americans do.
So beautiful !!!!! Amazing views !!!! Thank you Nancy
Glad you enjoyed it
Nancy, I can't begin to imagine how they constructed so massively on such hills. I can't imagine how people could climb so many stairs up to the church or descend those steps without railings. Finally I cannot imagine how or why anyone at any age would rent an apartment requiring you to climb 80 stone steps and carrying anything. No matter how beautiful the scenery. It just goes beyond my brain!!
Climbing all all those stairs keeps everyone fit! Yes, it is amazing how they constructed all those beautiful buildings. Thanks for your interest.!
@@nancyssolotripsandtips Keeping fit only if you're already fit!! Not to mention carrying deliveries up!
What if it’s 2 people will they still charge 15 per person
You can always try to negotiate, especially when they aren't busy. The normal rate is $5/person when they have more people. thanks for watching!

Are there alot of mosquitoes in Barbados? Doesn't the air conditioner above the bed blow on you? Do you pay cash on the bus? $5 Bajan for any local ride between Holetown and Bridgetown?
Prices for buses may have changed. Barbados.org has lots of useful info.
do you know if we have to book scuba diving or snorkeling ahead of the time or we can just walk in for that? Thanks.
It looks like you are asking about Roatan. My video shows where you can gos snorkelling right from the beach.
Hi again, Nancy. From your experience, how does one have a quiet visit in Barbados or other islands in the winter when there are all the large cruise ship crowds?? And are other islands besides Barbados either so crowded or hilly that it makes a visit uncomfortable for the older demographic??
On all islands, there are lots of spots where the cruise ship crowds don't go. They have a limited amount of time to visit, so tend to congregate in certain areas.
@@nancyssolotripsandtips Do the crowds off of ships in Bridgetown or Holetown make it difficult for others to get around, go to stores and restaurants, etc.?
@@dovygoodguy1296 the cruise ship terminal is near Bridgetown, south of Holetown. No, I haven't found a problem getting around, etc. You can get postings of when cruise ships visit the island, if that is a concern.
@@nancyssolotripsandtips Thanks. I was just wondering about the extent of crowds and congestion because of the influx of cruise ships. I've seen videos of other islands where the narrow streets are packed right cars, restaurants and stores are packed....
Wow - that would have made my trip complete. Great moment to capture live.
Yes, it was an exciting moment for all of us at the beach club. We had no idea that PM Mia Mottley was arriving. She is an amazing woman.
You made me chuckle when you mentioned "ear plugs" and "traffic circles". Also "Reggae bus" is very much a tourist cliche. Anyway ,thanks for sharing your video.
Yes, I most likely sound like a tourist, but that is part of the fun! thanks for your comments.
I forgot to mention. Earplugs are my best friend when travelling. I use them at dance clubs (usually the music is blasting); on airplanes when not using headphones; sleeping; etc. I carry pairs of them in all my jackets, shorts, backpack, even at home. Quick and easy way to have silence in a crowded space. I don't use them when I need to be aware of safety issues, such on walking on the street. Happy travels!
