I love the background you have! Also, the Intro is awesome! I could play it over and over again, it's very creative (and has catchy music!)!! I look forward to future HakTips :)
Cool to see someone review YUMI, I was using the original version that only used GRUB to make my multiboot drive. I'll have to try if VBOX can load it without crashing! ^^
yes, i'm pretty sure you can, if you already have the ISO, though there may or may not be some bugs to work out with it, and you have to mess with some code to get it to have persistence
Great work and I have learnt a lot in a really enjoyable fashion. It would be great to get a discussion around UEFI/secure boot and linux hardware compatibility. YUMI has now got a version that supports this but is still in testing. I have relatively new computers and heaps of trouble getting distros like OpenSUSE, Ubuntu to install properly due to UEFI. Another great discussion would be whether libreboot could be used to get around limitations of firmware bios.
You either need to go into the BIOS and set USB drive as booting before a HDD/SSD, or hit the proper 'f' key immediately on powering on, then select the device you want to boot from (HDD, USB, CD Drive, Network, ect)
I think you should slow down a little bit! I've been using YUMI for a long time, so I watched only to see if you had any tips I was missing. But even with my experience I had trouble following along. You don't give the viewer any time to look at the screens. Surely you didn't click through all the menus and selection boxes that rapidly the first time you used the program, so try to remember what it's like for beginners. Just a suggestion.
+MikeAnn193 exactly.. all these 'MultiBoot" installers are very Hard to get other Linux iso to boot... besides basic puppy Linux... i was thinking of Switching to Linux from Windows.. but everything about it is too Tempermental.. Way to Hard to get this Syslinux or Grub to run a Linux ISO to see if I want to install on the HardDrive.. everything about Linux is Cryptic and people fly thru help vid's and Tutorials... sticking with Windows.. Linux is Fun to play with... if your in College and have lots of time and Rescue Disks on hand... Nice Series though Shannon.. very informative.. Keep up the good work..
Is there a way to mix this with Katana and Sardu? They each seem to have handy tools but would be nice to have them all on one SUPER usb repair switchblade.
Hello Shannon. What brand and model video camera was used in recording this segment, also what software was used to empty the background. I appreciate any assistance.
from my research, you can only have one distro/OS with persistence. the others won't have it. and i've been tinkering with it for awhile but haven't gotten it to work on mine. not to say it isn't possible, i'm just having issues
Now i think about it maby you can even make a multi boot (yum or Xboot) FAT32 partition , and run several Linux Os's on it... Woa i am on a roll here lol ^^
except i hate both of those things, atleast for desktop/laptops. and i DO understand the purpose of YUMI -.- in fact it's what i'm currently using to run a multiboot usb, most linux things are all about editing and customization, it's why there's so many different distros, and i did go through the files that YUMI loads onto your drive and edited things, like the background picture and some of the menu(and submenu) txt. deleting the urls(because they're pointless) and changing some of the colors
I've had mixed results with YUMI. Some things work, some not as well. For instance the latest Ubuntu LiveCD pukes but Mint's live CD works fine. Just have to mess with config files more than likely. I use DBAN daily for work though and it runs out of yumi just fine.
Try Easy2Boot. Just copy the ISO to the USb drive and boot it! Works for 99% of all linux ISOs, and can add any number of Windows Install ISOs, etc. Also supports booting from multiple linux ISOs with persistence and also supports UEFI booting from multiple images.
SOTHICK RICK Well 200 downloads a day says that many people do want to use it and if you look at the site you will see that I do have a few positive comments! hallis said YUMI did not work with some LiveCDs, the same is true of other solutions such as SARDU and XBOOT. WinSetupFromUSB should work almost as well as Easy2Boot does because they copied my work! Easy2Boot supports multi-UEFI payload booting. Why am I pushing it? - because I think it solves the problem that hallis1 posted. P.S. Easy2Boot is NOT a program - if you had actually used it and knew what you were talking about, you would know that.
Cool. Is there something similar for Linux (something that creates a boot menu whit multiple OSes, not just creating a bootabal usb flash drive). Sorry if my English is bad
Do I have to go into the BIOS to make it boot from the usb? If not why isn't it being recognized? I'm trying this on a win7 machine must it have GRUB>? or can I use it with any boot loader?
Hey if anybody is interested i found a another cool way to edit your usb... :B open up Gparted (linux app or live boot .iso) and partition one NFTS side and one FAT32 side, If you put the NFTS partition first and the FAT32 second you can have 1 Os on the fat32, And still have space to do your average buiswax on the NFTS part. (Windows only sees the NFTS part (if partition as first!! so be sure to do that ) And Linux will detect it as two separate drives. (portal aps on NFTS maby?)
hello dear I make multi boot ssd USB I add windows 7,8,8.1&10 but they making error sum time he do install windows 10 on every Windows selected sum time he do after installation make a error what I do
I love the background you have! Also, the Intro is awesome! I could play it over and over again, it's very creative (and has catchy music!)!! I look forward to future HakTips :)
Thanks a lot for this YUMI little progtam ! it works smooth and its awesome !
Best show on the net, keep it up!.
Cool to see someone review YUMI, I was using the original version that only used GRUB to make my multiboot drive. I'll have to try if VBOX can load it without crashing! ^^

where is download link ???
ugh, the program doesn't look bad, but the way the bootloader looks, is what's keeping me looking for a different one

Can I ask what software you designed your backdrop in? Is it aftereffects. Would love to see a tutorial on that
Darren - You need to put any links that you use in the videos in the the video description.

Easy2Boot will boot 99% of all linux liveCD ISOs. Just copy all of your ISO files onto the USB drive and boot.
we know about using ventoy (a modern GRUB based easy multiboot solution) but it would be nice if you make a video about this in 2020
love it is easy to use thanks!

Hello Shannon.

Awesome... :)
I learned something today...:)
Time for a 2019 version of this video. Very cool, tho not sure what to use now.
Make an Easy2Boot USB drive - copy on the ISO files - boot - Simples!
dude this is so useful...to bad my pc doesnt load from USB even tho it has an option
Great moving background during the intro (the purple one)... anybody know where it came from/ how to obtain it?
@jaerodismusic Possible bricking or voided warranty maybe?
good video............

bit of a silly question but could i add a windows XP OS aswell to my usb drive ? :)

steve6375 I'll give that a try at work tomorrow. Thanks for the pro tip, Steve.

SOTHICK RICK 'peddling'??? it's free! What's the problem with pointing people at a better solution that is free and open source?
If you want to play dos games... why you don't use dosbox?
Cool. Is there something similar for Linux (something that creates a boot menu whit multiple OSes, not just creating a bootabal usb flash drive).
Sorry if my English is bad
What do i need to do if i can't move with the arrow keys on my keyboard
