Tell me about I just moved from Edgemont to Fort Myers. Didn’t get a chance to explore too much in Philly unfortunately. So I’m living vicariously through you. Thanks for sharing
This place is amazing! It’s pretty tucked away so I didn’t know I lived 2 min walking distance from sky until I read about the place in Bon appetite magazine! Their hours can vary more often than not but really foodies know spots with weird hours have very good food. I ain’t even know they made that avo and chocolate drink, I just placed an order to pick it up lol
Hot damn! My favorite type of food......anything from SouthEast Asia, encompassing Thailand, Viet Nam, Cambodia, Laos, Maylasia, Laos and Indonesia as well. I can never replicate it at home because there's nothing like the real deal. I lke their decor also, with the models of the becaks (cyclos, samlohs) in that wall hanging, and their menu is quite reasonable for what you're treated to. Still hoping to get to Philly in the near future. Props for representing.
I love Indonesia food. Banana Leaf is a pretty good restaurant as well, in downtown Philly. So happy, I came across your channel. Love your content. Now I’m hungry 😆
Yo JL, I'm from Singapore, just to share with you, Malay Rendang & Indonesia Rendang are completely different from my experience, myself being Malay, I do not like Malay Rendang, whether it be for dinner or for Hari Raya but I understand different people have different taste buds, now for Indonesia Rendang the first time I tried it was when my 2nd Engineer cook for us, and it was the best Rendang I ever had, it had more gravy, it was not thick and dry, it had a mixed taste of sweet & spicy, it looked like sambal but its not, this is the best I can describe lol, I do not know how far in taste then the ones in the US differs from the ones in Southeast Asia, but if you happen to go for a trip to Indonesia, Malaysia or Singapore, you should check it out bro!
Bruh, the way you devour your meal, is exactly how we indonesians eat our food. Nothing gets left behind, not even the rendang sauce on the little plate. Each bite always with rice or you chase it down with the rice...love u bro...i hate to see people eat the dishes seperately with no rice😂😂😂
The family that owns the Sky Cafe in Philly also have a restaurant in Queens, NY. Super affordable Indonesian comfort food. So, so many wonderful tastes & flavors from Indonesia, the country of more than 15,000 Islands. The combo you ordered JL was very nice & priced right at $22! It only was missing a fish dish. If you want to try very good Indonesian food & are in the Hollywood, Florida area try Krakatoa restaurant on Hollywood Blvd.
Indians influenced the food from Thailand to Indonesia. That's where all of the spice and curry influence in the food came from. Same with the food in the West Indies.
The lady said 21 for all that. Listing the price for every videos kinda weird, unless it's like super cheap where it's surprising or something. He gives the name of the restaurant and location. You can just yelp it.
Hey JL. Hi from South Africa. Love all your videos and the honesty that goes with it. It's fantastic to see that you try out many different types of cuisines as that is an eye opener for may people to also try it out. The foods looks lekker (SA slang word for delicious). Keep up the good work man. Cheers
You should come up to lowell massachusetts we've a huge Cambodian community here, Spanish, Greek, Chinese, Italian ect shit you named we have it hope to see you around this way soon brother many blessings to you and your family 🙏.
If you wondering how our food and culture is almost similar? It’s because the Indian (religion and curry) the Chinese, and the Portuguese. The Portuguese brought chillies, papayas, tomatoes, pineapple, avocado, etc.
There is an Asian influenced food truck located next to Temple hospital 1300 w. Ontario st (Broad & Ontario) that has the best “Drunken Noodles “ I’ve ever had. By the way, I believe it’s Black owned.
JL you are right Philly has a lot of diversity and I think more than when I lived there some years back. I'm from NYC and our food is very diverse and good, but there's something about our Philly does food and takes pride in good eating. Thanks for taking me down memory lane in Philadelphia.
Hi JL, I don’t normally put in requests on ur channel. I like to be surprised and u haven’t disappointed. Can u check out a place in Philly called “Down North”? They do some of the best looking pizzas I’ve seen since I left Detroit. They also only hire the previously incarcerated. Theses young men know what they are doing and take pride in their product. Hope u can reach out, ✌🏽.
Tried this restaurant out and JL Jupiter is definitely in point with this place. BUT be careful of parking. This parking lot is own by two different owners with two security guys on bikes who will F-UP your vehicle. It is a shame as this restaurant should move. It is that good!

Lil Saigon, right off Washington St. One of the best places for food, and if you want a great Bahn Mi hoagie the place is in the same shopping center. Give it a try, very good and healthy. Love the channel bro, I been watching all your vids this morning and I used to be a chef but lost my passion but still love the food. I wanted to add that you should be careful eating shrimp tails because they can be very sharp and slice your insides up. Loving the channel, glad I found it.
You should take a day trip to Silver Spring, MD (outside Wash DC). Check out the Ethiopian community there. Lot's great restaurants, Ethiopian markets, and coffee shops.

As Indonesian decent, Indonesian food is very flavorful but cleanliness, I would rather eat in Singapore and Malaysia.

i enjoy your videos.!! But please pop off the shrimp tails!!
