Last October we visited leh by flight. I have an acute breathing problem. But we were surprised that I didn't faced any such problems. Maybe this tour was my childhood dream. Only in khardung la I had a headache for a few minutes. It was such a beautiful journey , I can't explain. And before my tour I watched all your videos.

    Hey D,
I’m grateful for all the ways you make travel for all of us so much better. Based on inputs from your various blogs we're planning a 10 night trip to Ladakh in the month of April. Pls have a look at our tentative itinerary and help us fine tune it. Please answer few questions that we have for you. And please give your opinion / suggestions. Once we finalize itinerary we'll concentrate on accommodations and transportation.
We don't want check-in / check-out every other day and rather have less hectic travel plan and like to spend more relaxed days in picturesque locations.
10 NightsTentative Itinerary. 3 Nights in Nubra Vally, 3 night beside Pangon Lake & 4 (2+2) Nights in Leh.
On Day 1 (night stay at Leh)
    Rest after reaching hotel
On Day 2 (night stay at Leh)
    1. Singo castel??
    2. Shanti Stupa (afternoon/eveni )
    3. Hall of fame
    4. Yang or Spitu Monestry
    5. Eat at Gesmo Restaurant and Lama Yuri Restaurant
On Day3 (night stay at Hunder - Nubra valley)
Leh to Nubra valley. 126kms. 6hrs.
    >Khardung la > Diskit Monestry > night stay at Hunder
On Day4 (night stay at Hunder - Nubra valley)
    >Hunder sandunes - camel ride,
(Can we do Turtuk day trip (90km from Hunder) on the same day?)
On Day5 (night stay at Hunder - Nubra valley)
    >Turtuk day trip. Spend 3 to 4hrs in Turtuk. 1 hr Trek to waterfall. with Thang village in LOC. (90km from Hunder. 2 hrs drive)
On Day6 (night stay near Pangon Lake)
Hunder (Nubra vally) to Pangon Tso direct route via Shyok or Warila.
Stay at JKTDC or Pangong Homestay available at Spangmik village or else in Lukung village. Or else at Tangsay.
On Day7 (night stay at Pangon Lake)
On Day8 (night stay at Pangon Lake)
On Day9 (night stay at Leh)
Pangon Lake to Leh. 170kms. 7hrs.
On the way visit Hemis Monestry, Stakna monastry, Thiksey monastry, Shey palace??
On Day10 (night stay at Leh)
    Leh Sightseeing
Sham Vally (Alchi monastry > Likir monastry > Basgo palace, Basgo dunes, Lunch at Nimu, Indus - Zanskar river confluence. Eat local authentic Tibetan food as well as samosas. Go for Nimmu to Chiling drive. Do Chiling to Nimmu rafting. On way back visit Gurudwara & Magnetic hills
Considering the above Itinerary [3 Nights in Nubra Vally, 3 night beside Pangon Lake & 4 (2+2) Nights in Leh]:
Q1. When to visit Turtuk? On Day3 or 4 or on Day 5? On the way to Hunder from Leh - on Day3? During stay - on the 2nd day at Hunder or on 3rd day at Hunder?
Q2. In this itinerary when to visit Sumur - Panamik?
Q3. Which are the places to visit & what are the things to do during our 3 night stay by Pangon Tso? What to do on day 7 & 8?
Q4. Considering the above itinerary - on which day we should we visit Hemis Monestry, Stakna monastry, Thiksey monastry and Shey palace?
Q5. Your suggestions / openion pls.
    Thank you for reading.
    Regards,
    John

      Hey John,
I am sorry, I got late in replying. Since it was a long comment couldn't reply from phone :)
      Here are my inputs
      1. You should visit Turtuk on Day 4. It will make it balanced.
      2. You may skip Sumur and Panamik. There isn't much that you may not already have seen and as you said you would like to keep it relaxed better spend all that time in Turtuk, Hunder and Diskit.
      3. Well, since you are traveling in April, it is going to be very very cold at Pangong Lake with lake being partially frozen. I will say you be better skipping the Day 8 there. You should rather head back to Leh on Day 8 to save a day. You can visit monasteries then next day at easy pace or just relax in Leh more if you want to visit the monasteries on the way back from Pangong lake. There isn't much of sightseeing at Pangong lake, just the lake and roam around the villages.
      4. I answered above in 3. Either dedicate a day skipping one extra day in Pangong or do them on the way back only.
I hope this helps. Feel free to let me know more questions you may have.

      hello D,
Thank you for your earlier reply.
Based on your vital inputs, we are changing our 10 nights itinerary, starting in first week of April. We want to stay in scenic locales... Want to avoid every day check-ins / Check-outs... Overall less hectic trip. We'll be skipping Sumur -Panamik as you suggested. We r planning to avoid Tso Moriri as it will be much colder than Pangon and as you advised in one of your vlog. Please have a look and tell us your thoughts on our revised Plans. Your opinion matters.
      Plan A:
2 nights in Uleytokpo > 2 nights in Turtuk > 2 nights in Hunder > 2 nights in Pangon > 2 nights in Leh
      Plan B:
3 nights in Uleytokpo > 3 nights in Turtuk OR 3 nights in Hunder > 2 nights in Pangon > 2 nights in Leh
Whether to go with Plan A or Plan B? If its Plan B then 3 night in Turtuk or Hunder? We find ourselves full of doubt.
      Thanks for taking the time.
      Regards,
      John

Best will be to take road trip to Leh from Srinagar instead of flying. You will get better acclimatization than flying directly. You need to stay over 2000-2500 mtrs to get your body acclimatize. So better option is to take night halt at Kargil and then by road to Leh next day

Maria, I am not a medical expert on it but I think as long as you are following the acclimatization tips (Check video: ruclips.net/video/8XijLqr6O0Y/видео.html) then you should be OK. However, plz DO NOT treat it as medical advice and you MUST consult your doctor by telling the condition to them and telling that you will be traveling to High altitude places. So, ask them for proper medical advice there.

If any of the symptoms arise, should we immediately start taking oxygen? Should we keep taking oxygen throughout the trip from small cans?

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj  8 месяцев назад

There is no need to think too much about oxygen and there is no need to keep on taking without any symptoms. Based on your itinerary in previous comment on other video, I can say that acclimatization-wise wise you should be OK. Just keep drinking fluids and keep body hydrated. Oxygen should only be taken when absolutely required or in case someone is feeling ill or uneasy. You may carry an oximeter but don't just keep using it without any symptom because it can cause psychological effect too :D ... Better use to identify if there is need to take oxygen or not.
However, like I said, your itinerary is by road from Srinagar Leh, taking precautions/following tips mentioned in the video here: ruclips.net/video/8XijLqr6O0Y/видео.html you should be OK.
Please note small oxygen cans don't last much and doesn't help in real need. Your taxi driver can carry a rented oxygen cylinder with kit through the trip. They are available in Leh for rent.

Thank you Sir. Will definitely keep sipping those Apple juices 😁
      Well sir, one more question.
Our agent has suggested option 2 as iternary. He has planned Lamayuru on day 2 but stay in Leh. And have added a night in Hanle
So new iterarnary looks like this -
Day 1 Leh Market and Rest
Day 2 Leh Shyam Valley, Lamayuru and stay back at Leh
      Day 3 Leh to Nubra
Day 4 Turtuk , stay Nubra
      Day 5 Nubra to Pangong
      Day 6 Pangong to Hanle
Day 7 Hanle to Leh, stay Leh
Day 8 1 pm flight from Leh airport
I am more inclined towards this iternary as this covers Hanle and Turtuk with no increase in days.
But I don't want anyone of us to get sick as we want the Trip to be good and not just Touch and Go.
What do you think are the days enough for capturing all these places? Or it will be too Hush Hush?. We cannot increase days but we can reduce the places in this visit. This is our first time visiting Ladakh. Please advise.

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj  2 месяца назад

Yes, apple and apricot juices will work great. You should skip Lamayuru frankly to ease our Day 2. Like, it is doable with Lamayuru but becomes hectic with all the Sham Valley sightseeing. So, better keep it relaxed. Rest of the plan looks fine.

Well, there are some restrooms made but mostly very limited on the route. I will say try to use at pit stops like main places which are there in Ladakh. As soon as you see some market/town along the road, you should inquire about it. Only very few places have public restrooms installed and long distances you will not get anything mostly. So make use of most of the places where there are restaurants.

I'm planning a kind of hybrid tour i.e. Srinagar to Leh by road and fly back from Leh. I can spend 7 days entirely between reaching Leh and exit from it. Can I do the local sight seeing after completing Pangong etc. We'll be somewhat acclimatised between Srinagar and Leh and will use the local sightseeing day for a bit of rest !

Yes, if you are traveling by road to Leh from Srinagar. Then after reaching Leh, next day in Leh you can basically do local sightseeing in Leh. Also after coming back from Pangong as well you can do it. What is the itinerary you are following? Share your draft here and I will recommend edits if required.

Dheeraj bhai, this channel has everything you may need to plan a succesful Leh Ladakh trip including all the questions you have asked. Since 2021 end of season, Indian do not need any permit anymore in Ladakh for regular sightseeing. You just need to pay the Ladakh Environment Fee on the website and carry the receipt of it. Here is the link where you need to pay it: www.lahdclehpermit.in/register-as-domestic
Current Ladakh environment fees are broken down as following:
      1. Environment Fee = Rs 400 one time
      2. Wildlife Fee/Something = Rs 20 per day
      3. Red Cross Fee = Rs 50 one time but Optional, you don’t need to pay if you don’t want to.
DO NOT confuse environment fee receipt with permit. You just need to carry this fee receipt, hard copy or soft copy. This receipt will be checked at various checkposts. Hence, people are confusing it with permit but this is just verification that you have paid the fees.

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj  Год назад

No one verifies that strictly in general but if they want to then they can do it using your flight details or hotel check in details in Leh and the environment fee dates. There are still gaps and questions in it but if they want to, this way they may enforce it. However it is not matter of if authorities enforce or not, it is matter of your own safety against AMS.. it is always recommended to spend at least two nights in Leh so your body gets acclimatized before doing any further sightseeing in Ladakh
