I absolutely love Meyer Hatchery. I've ordered 38 birds from them and not a single one has ever died (they will replace them) during or after shipping. They send a free bird with your order if you ask. I've received 3 free birds from them and and I give the eggs to older ppl at church. Meyer really promotes paying it forward and CARES about their birds and customers and that is why I will continue to order birds from them. Plus I like to support good Ohio Companies. :)
I ordered chicks from Meyers and they are now 5 weeks old and doing wonderful. We had never owned chickens before and wanted to give it a try. We ordered the rainbow pullet pack. We got such a wonderful variety of chicks of many breeds and colors. I am very pleased with the outcome and I'm enjoying raising these lil feathery guys more than I ever imagined. I plan on coming back to Meyer again the next time we want to add to our feathery flock.
This company is great! I ordered some fertilized eggs from them and due to complications with the post office I did not receive the eggs on time. Meyer Hatchery went out of their way to make things right and gave me 100% store credit to reorder the eggs at my convenience. I plan on ordering all of my chickens and supplies from here in the future. A+++++
I love Meyer chicks - the genetics are great and they put in an extra chick of whatever breed and gender you ordered - no surprise roosters. And you don't have to order 25 minimum. They will sell less! A great company doing a fantastic job. My best hens have all come from Meyer.
Did you notice in the video that they were shipping their birds to My Pet Chicken - I don't believe MPC actually raises/hatches any of the things they sell. They are a middleman between hatcheries and customers from what I understand.
wow... I'm really impressed by the cleanliness and organization of your hatchery! Love the pneumatic egg grabber ("> I've seen many hatcheries over the years and I'm glad to have happened across Meyer hatchery via RUclips! Even the employees seem professional and motivated (enjoy their jobs) quite a contrast to the Cackle Hatchery vid I just viewed... very interesting. I wish Meyer Hatchery every success, with healthy breeding flocks! Chickens for every sustainable life style!
I have been ordering chicks from Meyer Hatchery for the last few years. The chicks are healthy and sweet-tempered -- not entirely common in a lot of "hatchery chicks" -- and I LOVE them ! They DO put an extra chick in orders; an extra of the one you order the most of. My extra has NEVER been a rooster. The telephone staff is great & easy to deal with. Meyer gaurantees chicks for 48 hours AFTER you receive them. Not all hatcheries do that ! THANKS, Meyer, for the little fuzz-balls ! ---Vera :o)
I watched the video of your hatchery. You guys reall do a good job. I uses to work at a hatchery over twenty years ago. The hatchery I worked at was a lot harder. To me it looks like the people you have working for you really do a good job! I got messed up from working at this place, I had to quite working because of my health. But your video looks nothing like where I worked. I believe you do your workers right!
@TheGoldenEagle19 Yes! Write to Meyer and suggest that approach! If all of Meyer's customers (or most them) made the same suggestions, maybe they would change this practice!
@johnnathan85 I always end up with extra males in my orders. I dont mind it. Ive actually called and said I will take what ever extra males they care to put in... my last order was for 26 birds... and I got 44. The more the merrier! I already have found homes for 9 males... its not a problem.
Again. Great video, but I didnt know they kill the little male ones. That is sad. I wished I could see a video from MyPetChicken. I ordered my chicks from them and so far a great experience. I read that some hatcheries throw extra chickens and when ask them to do that they answered they dont pack peanuts. It seems they really love and care about chickens and they have a great customer service. Good luck
5:05 I feel like they're gonna make those chicks as crunchy bite sized snacks for some reason. I dunno, maybe because they delivered it as if the box-o-chicks were pizza or something.
@johnnathan85 If what you said is true, why can't they just give extra males in your order for free? I wouldnet care if they gave me 3-10 extra males for free in my order. I would raise them and maybe use some as meat or sell the roosters to livestock aution better then wasting there lives for no reason. But they didint give me extra chicks in my last order!
Got chicks from Meyer's recently this fall only beacuse they had most of the breeds available that I wanted compared to other hatcherys witch were all sold out.. I was pretty confident in Meyer's s since they were a more popluar hatchery, but once I got the chicks the mood changed.. They did not give me a extra chick at all... Within 4 days a chick died and another chick looks sick (yes they are all meriks vac). Not saying Meyers is a bad hatchery, I may buy from them again but I wasnt pleased

My chicks come sep 10-12! Hopefully their alive!
@vajsony It depends on where you live and how much chicks you wish.
How to order can anyone say
Do you throw the males in the garbage like other hatcheries do?
