I am a US Navy Veteran Schooled, Trained AMH (Aviation Metals, Structures, Hydraulics/Flight Controls, Landing Gear/Brake Systems Mechanic/Technician, for 7 years, 9 months of active duty. I still know how to FIX aircraft from that Real World Class Practical experience and have used the Skills and learned more advanced concepts when I went to work for Lockheed Aerospace / Space Systems Division. Every time a Pilot show me parts of an Aircraft I still have that passion, the high pressures, pneumatic, hydraulic valves, cables, servo motors, and that Life Experience made it easy for me to get a Mechanical Engineering degree with a minor in Physics.

Steve in the 1980’s my wife and I used to grunt work at the museum. We’d sweep, clean glass cases, etc. I believe you had a newborn daughter at the time. Loved those big band dances where most people showed up in WWll uniforms.

When I was stationed at Pt. Mugu in the early 90's they still had a half dozen or so F-86F's, some were in the Japanese Blue Impulse colors. It was interesting to watch them enter the break, the intakes make a weird howl as they bend it around the corner and start slowing down, my comment to a co-worker was " flashback to Korea". Unfortunately they were all gone within a year, replaced by F-4S's.

Wyatt Fuller had one (Canadair F86, N86FS) based at KHKY. I worked next to the airport and live quite close too. I saw it fly numerous times. Loud, fast and very aerobatic. It was a beautiful airplane. At Airventrue 2005 he won reserve grand champion in the post WWII category. Sadly Wyatt was killed in an attempt to abort a take off when he was leaving for Oshkosh in 2006. He was unable to stop the plane. It went off the end of the runway, struck the localizer antenna, continued down the hill, through the fence and came to rest in the road.
