About AVATAR:
On the lush alien world of Pandora live the Na'vi, beings who appear primitive but are highly evolved. Because the planet's environment is poisonous, human/Na'vi hybrids, called Avatars, must link to human minds to allow for free movement on Pandora. Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), a paralyzed former Marine, becomes mobile again through one such Avatar and falls in love with a Na'vi woman (Zoe Saldana). As a bond with her grows, he is drawn into a battle for the survival of her world.

He spent who-knows how long confined to a chair, I love that the very first thing he does as soon as he feels his legs again is stand up way before he's told its okay and then goes for a sprint
literally haha i cannot begin to imagine how good it would feel to take off at a run after not being able to even stand for so long
That's one thing I kind of wish was touched on in the first movie. How and when his became paralyzed. I can assume he lost his legs in combat, but kinda want to know the circumstances.

this scene was the most realistic in the whole movie in my opinion because of the humans you can use as scale and the interaction between them and the avatars are so smooth and realistic.
I was blown away by this when I saw it for the first time.
Proud to be the 1,000th like lol :D

I feel like the medical personnel would realistically have been told about Jakes disability and that he might have had such a reaction to receiving his legs back again. That particular part of the scene though is perfect, its such a human and realistic reaction to getting your legs back, it almost a high for him, the ability to walk again is so subconscious to many of us that to be unable to do so is literally unimaginable. To then get it back after losing it even more so.
I don’t think everyone with disability would do the same. It’s Jake who’s really unhinged and crazy haha

The detail is INSANE! Look at his shirt at 3:10, the fruit juice sprays onto his gown like a real citrus fruit. Crazy good, and don't even get me started on how Way of Water does their water. Truly a digital cinematic masterpiece.
That look on his face when he feels his legs for the first time in years. priceless

2:19 "Jake! We're not supposed to be running!" Norm said to a guy, who had been paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair for months, maybe years. Now that he can finally feel his legs, the first thing he's most definetely SUPPOSED to do is go for a run.

The feeling of waking for the first time in a new, healthy body like that, it must have been amazing. Imagine living during daytime as human and go to sleep, only to wake up in another body, let alone an avatar body...

@@ChristianSoldier71 don't start that shit with me.
Jake once lived in a world of steel and concrete his entire life and was so amazed to run around in a completely new world full of plants, trees, jungles, forests, and animals - that never went extinct.
Imagine spending a great deal of your life being in a chair because you have lost the ability to walk. Then place yourself in a completely new body that allows you to feel everything below your waist and gives you the ability to move your legs around. I think Jake’s reaction sums that up perfectly!
Hard to believe this movie came out 13 years ago, still remember the hype 6 year old me felt when watching this for the first time at a friend's house and it still holds up to this day
Jake was always tried to do things ahead of his way. Running after getting a new body for 5 seconds, tamed the baddest dragon in the sky and 10 years later, he refused to train with a more calm and easy water dragon and went straight to the real deal
Every time i see this scene, Im mesmerized by Jakes transformation. And then i can't help but feel happy for Jake when he starts to work his new feet
I can totally feel his happiness, great scene
Crazy how Avatar scenes we’re hard to come by, but since the second one came out, all of a sudden you can watch scenes from the first movie
Maybe these are the remastered. No idea actually lol
Marketting
He was just excited to finally feel his legs for the first time so he couldn't wait to use them. I wonder what it feels like to have a new body.
Not an avatar one but something else like that of a video game character. God, I wouldn't be able to wait to use that as well.
It's not the same at all...
All that tech with anti-matter, robotics and subconcious mind transfer, jake's disability should be a piece of cake for these people.
It is. The problem is it’s super expensive, the average person wouldn’t be able to afford the surgery to restore their legs
Damn even today it looks really damn good
ehhh
@@letsprogress4124 What? It looks good.
@Rowan Yeah Marvel vfx is going down because they have too much work in their hands like look how many shows they have.
@@letsprogress4124 Stop trying to purposely be different
@@aiden8834 I'm honestly not. Avatar 2 looked excellent and for the day Avatar 1 looked excellent. It's just that looking back on some of the scenes from Avatar 1, they have some pretty meh compositing). Like at 2:20 and 0:33, the blue is a bit too blue so it looks pasted in.
But I guess you guys are right. It still looks quite good overall.
I get that they needed to test his body for full motor functions to make sure it worked properly and developed properly.... but no one can really blame him for immediately being excited about the fact that he had working legs again.
When they gave a long-disabled man the newfound ability to walk again, how did they think he was going to react? What did they think he was going to do?
I always feel happy for Jake in this scene
its still crazy to me that this movie was released in 2009
I can’t believe she called him numb nuts 😂
Rewatching this movie makes me realize how much darker the humans are in the second movie.
Like look at the compound, in the original they are actively growing the native plants and have a much more eco friendly architecture.
In the second one the land is barren for hundreds of meters from the compound.
That’s because this is the avatar compound on the outer perimeter of Hell’s Gate and most of the people here are researchers and scientists. Also the circumstances are quite different. At the time of A1 Hell’s Gate was primarily a resource mining operation. In A2 the plan with Bridgehead is preparing for full blown colonization. But, even back before A1 the original goal of the Avatar program was to create more efficient mining/construction workers for the RDA which didn’t work out very well. It wasn’t until later that they decided to try using them for research and communication instead to better understand the Na’vi, flora/fauna, and hopefully prevent all out war.
I love his weird ass run, kinda makes sense since he hasn't been able to use his leg since forever but is still used to it enough to keep his balance when running.
3:29 “don’t play with that you’ll go blind”
@@Merryianna it is technically a sexual organ since the navi use it when mating
@@Chloe-sn8sp Are you illiterate? The queue does not send some seed to another queue that then forms a baby inside a placenta. The queue is for connecting two brains. It's what the Na'vi do to make their mating more intimate and spiritual. You're literally seeing, hearing, feeling the thoughts of the other Na'vi. Their sex organs are just like humans; between the legs.
I love how this scene shows mutiple things, Jake can finally walk and run again also he is a natural in his avatar body because he was chosen by Eywa his got an instant connection to his navi body
I'm doubtful he would have been "chosen by Eywa" at this point though, as this was his avatar's first time outdoors, had never been to the forest, I doubt Eywa wold have any awareness of him yet (either as a human or avatar). But that would come later.
@@quillmaurer6563 Good point but remember how eywa is the planet so she must be aware of everything and everyone
@@legion5938 Possibly, but there are places where she has more or less presence. the Trees of Souls are the most direct connection to her, I'd imagine that Hell's Gate, having pretty much everything natural bulldozed away, could be somewhat of a blind spot.

1:46 his smile
As a someone who had a meniskus problem just 3 weeks ago, I can understand his feeling, I actually had a few tears I am not going to lie. :)
Jakes reaction as an avatar is my favorite
Jake was so excited to have legs again he just took off running!
This scene never fails to give me satisfaction, one of the best out there.
Love how they expected a disabled marine to just sit back and do nothing in this scene 😂😂
Mans don’t care about the Avatar body, he’s just happy to walk agains.
Avatar 1 was more exciting to me because no one expected a 3D movie like this back in 2009. And especially when Jake's paralyzed legs entered his avatar body, it was a much better feeling that he could run like before. I was very impressed with the first movie, but I didn't like the second movie very much because of the same scenario, the same cold war, I think it could have been a little different. Avatar 1 is the perfect movie that I won't stop watching. Even if the sequels come, they will never let the audience experience the old adrenaline. It's just going to be fun for the kids, that's all.
He was so happy to finally be standing again and could not wait ❤
He went from being a disabled soldier with nothing left to lose to a man who's have something to live for.
I really don’t know what else they expected to happen when they gave an amputee both his legs back, lmao
Interesting how many avatars are there. I wonder if a majority stayed and merged with the Omaticaya after the humans left.
At the end when the Na'vi are sending the RDA packing, you see quite a few Avatars in human clothing with guns. Safe to assume the science team stayed behind
i think its safe to assume most of the operators died or left.
The ones that stayed were only the hardcore Na'vi supporters, maybe 10-50 of them MAX.
@@lewiswood1693 It's really hard to say how many there were on either side. For starters, how many Avatar bodies were there? We don't know.
But we do know that they had to be custom-grown for their operators on Earth. So I'd guess that most of them were scientists in biology and related fields - biologists studying lifeforms, xenologists studying Navi culture, ecologists (like Grace) studying the whole ecosystem and how it worked. The military types don't seem to have had Avatar bodies, the geologists and physicists studying unobtainium wouldn't need them, and neither would the miners and other resource extractors, or the administrators.

I remember I wasn’t a fan of running because I usually became tired pretty quick. After 3 months of different workouts my father (ex-mountaineer) decided to run a little to see would I able to run after him plus he wanted to be little bit further from me. My brain just saw it and decided to give me the command “girl run” and I started running and surprisingly it was not so hard and I became so excited. Different case but I feel I experienced the joy which was kind of the same.
You just feel that you can do it and nothing will stop you, and you become excited and curious how far your body can go.
Avatar 1 & 2 were the best movies I’ve ever seen
Season 1,
please tell me movie name
It's common to make fun of this movie's lack of characterization, how you can't even remember Jake's name. It's not untrue but i have certain distinct memories like this scene, his excitement and unadulterated joy of being able to walk, have this powerful body and being out of dystopian earth and on Pandora. To me, Jake was a perfectly fine fish-out-of-water and i like him even more as a father in the sequel. Characters don't have to be complicated
Theres nothing wrong with the characters or characterizations. They are just very simple.
People seem to want more complex characters like Heath Ledgers Joker. But they dont seem to understand that in a movie like this, that would be awful. This is Cameron's Star Wars or Lord of the Rings saga if they looked and felt like The Wizard of Oz
My fav part is when he wakes up and says "It's Navi'in Time" and Avatared all over the place.
I don't understand comedy anymore
I really don’t know why people think this is funny anymore.

The seed bearer involves a new tribe called the ash people (from the volcanic region of pandora)
Can you blame Jake for wanting to run, after not having his legs for years it must've felt amazing to run again
I can not understate how much better this movie is than the second one. The second one was nothing in comparison to this one…
Yes, the second one is good, but the first one is the GOAT.
Jake honestly was the wrong person to gather intel on the Navi.
Jake waking up: My legs *worked* like they used to before
Quaritch waking up: I will punch anything that's blue on my sight.
“Yo listen up here’s the story about a little guy that lives in a blue world and all day and all night and everything he sees is just blue like him inside and outside”
This was one of the few fun scenes in the first movie.
It was so serious most of the time.
If I were an Avatar, I would be happy so much and I will get to be spend with Jake and his family again 💓
They could’ve been told about Jake not being able to walk in his juman form so they could’ve understood his excited reaction LOL
I think what would have made this scene more touching is if the nurse said to him, “You wanna try standing up?"
And Jake says, “What do you mean?
I'm crippled".
And then it clicks that he's in a new body with working legs.
He then tries to stand up, but because his brain/mind is too used to him being paralysed from the waist down, he struggles at first.
However, as he starts to get the hang of it, that's when we get to the part where he becomes too excited and runs out of the building.
That is way cheaper than what they went with. Say more with less. The key to any good movie making. Everything you just described can be contextualized by his range of emotions during a brief 10 second period of this scene where he wakes up, moves his hands, then his entire demeanor changes when he starts wiggling his toes, and his following reactions says everything the scene needs to say. Anything more with words would take away from the impact
This CGI still looks fantastic over 13 years later.

It’s really cool to think though that Aiwa (ayy- wa-) sorry for the spelling) but the na’vis god is all about nature and how you should celebrate and respect the earth, and Jake when he first wakes up run out breathing in nature and enjoying it! Obviously he was enjoying his legs too but it’s a cool comparison!
Never noticed Jake saying “Damn” under his breath at 2:57 lol
Honestly i would to 🤣🤣
Tom is probably cringing and happy for his brother in heaven
Just realized graces nose is more pronounced as human than na’vi
The most magical moment of the whole film.
I'd prolly do the same thing if i had lost the use of my legs but was given the chance to use them again
Honestly his reaction to having the use of his legs again is so easy to see coming them not preparing for it beforehand is notably unrealistic. Even in a movie about space travel and tribal blue aliens on another world THIS is the part that was unrealistic to me.
I can just imagine the doctors before hand preparing him for the transfer: "We know you're going to be really excited to walk again but we will need you to take it slow while we do this checklist to make sure the everything is working and neither of your bodies is about to stroke out from unforeseen complications so PLEASE. BE. PATIENT."
Well he is a soldier and seen a a professional. Im pretty sure they didn’t expect him to ignore orders and just get up and run away
Lol, as if he would listen.
