Amazing work Corey that’s came up a treat. How good is the scaff for a work bench! Love the work boots too 😂

It was great mate! You explained everything really well so the typical Aussie bloke could easily understand it. (Except maybe a lawyer or accountant lol) The roofing screw spacings are a bit different here but your roof and siding looks great. And a good little plumbing bit thrown in as well. All the best with your projects.

The screws all lined up is so satisfying!
    This was awesome to watch!!

Love your vids! So inspirational. I'm building an smalloff-grid cabin in Tasmania. Slabs poured and start the frame at Christmas. I've been looking for a vid where you run the colorbond in the same direction as what you have done. So thanks!!! Question? Your flashing, especially around your windows. Do you have any footage of you installing the window and the sill flashing. Kind regards, Dan

Thanks Dan! Apologies for the delay in responding. How are you going in Tassie at the moment, are you affected by the floods? Hope everyone is ok.
We don't have a video showing that detail but we do have some flashing left over and Corey said he's happy to talk through it explaining how the components fit together... would that be helpful?
We went vertical because horizontal just becomes dust catchers. So less maintenance!

@@ROCKPILEOffgridHomestead No, I live in Tamworth, but are building my cabin in Tasmania. It’s just a getaway that will turn into a relocation in time. Can you elaborate on your windows and flashing? And explain how you fitted the flashing.
      Once again, love the channel

Too easy mate. I'll get Corey to film a short detail vid and post it up soon.

I'm so pleased you are not cladding horizontally!
Biggest mistake you can make with corrugated iron,
Please explain to the viewers why!

For us we didn’t want a dust striped house. Our last place was Hardy plank horizontal cladding… and even with a low profile style and regular cleaning it still ended up a maintenance nightmare. So the vertical corrugations are somewhat self cleaning 😂

How are you going to clean out that gutter in years to come?

    • @ROCKPILEOffgridHomestead
      @ROCKPILEOffgridHomestead  Год назад +2

Hey mate, good question. There’s still a small gap so if needed we can figure something out.
However it’s got good fall so won’t hold sitting water, we don’t have over hanging trees (yet) so leaves aren’t an issue (and we’ll install gutter guard if so, and we’ll have a first flush system for our rain water tank. That combo worked well on our last place with virtually zero gutter issues for over 13 years.
So it’s not really a concern but we’ll have to wait and see if we’re wrong I guess 😂😂

@@ROCKPILEOffgridHomestead - doing building and property maintenance I can't tell you how many knuckles I've sliced trying to clean out people's gutters. I hope you're right. If not, a good strong air blower works quite well to blow the leaves and silt towards a disconnected downpipe.
