Grabbed one after the price-drop to upgrade my 2600 CPU system and have noticed immediate improvements across the board. Glad to see I wasn't taken for a ride on this upgrade path.
@@itzdjyar really eh for me its the total opposite I have all settings low on valorant and get 150fps and 40fps in rust if im lucky. forget about streaming at the sametime lmao
With increases fuel prices in the UK, I was going to go with a 12900k however the 65w tdp for pretty much the same 1440p performance and up, is just worth it
Big factor in my choice too. Got the 5700x for £150, sealed in box. 12400 Is around £200, was doubting my choice for a while but not anymore. May take a change on a £375 3070 on eBay and hopefully let the good times roll 🙂
I'm loving this cpu with my 3070. I'm getting great fps in a lot of games. My 3600 severed me well but had some damaged pins giving me issues. All in all its great getting good fps in 1440p ultra settings. 👌
@@nlkg7942 I got mine overclocked quite a bit. Results may vary but I think I got a golden silicone. As for which games I play mostly Elden Ring, Destiny 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, MK 11, Minecraft RTX(not maxed), cyberpunk, Resident Evil 2 remake and a bunch of random stuff. On MSI afterburner my settings: 50% core voltage, core clock +130MHz, memory clock +1000 MHz, power limit 100%, Temp limit 90c. Set a custom fan curve for best results. Also it may be different for the TI model since I believe it's already overclocked but I'm sure you can squeeze some power out of it.
Picked up the r5 5600x today! I have been waiting to upgrade my r5 2600 and get a few more frames out of 2070 super. thank for releasing content on an "aging" chip.
That's awesome, man! I hope you're stoked to get your hands on that beast, it's going to blow away your expectation's IMO. And sure, dude, just because a chip has been out for a while doesn't mean it's not still worth considering!
@@Karnage24 It has been great. No complaints and I noticed a nice boost to fps as well as boot time. Not night and day differences but for example pubg on max settings was around 90ish fps and now is 120ish. Call of duty(modernwarfare) was 110ish and is now closer to 120ish. all rough numbers and I was not overly concerned with fps just wanted a more modern chip and mobo.
Im a bit amazed how in your gaming benchmarks i5 12400f won everything, in most cases I see that in most games ryzen actually gets better gaming performance, however you also chose a lot of games also that are better on intel to be fair
I was confused too, had to triple-verify my results and methodology to make sure I wasn't missing anything but I didn't find any issues. From the reviews I've watched and read, Intel's 12th gen has the upper hand in more titles overall than Ryzen, but obviously that'll vary depending on the reviewer/s. I'm sure you don't mean it in that way, but I didn't "choose" games that run better on Intel. I've been using the same games in my benchmarks for a long time now since older games tend to be more stable and reliable, and I try to get as good of a mix in there as possible since I can't afford to buy them all.
I still have my 5600X along with a 2070 and it's an absolute beast at 1080p. And the 16GB ram at 3600mhz CL16 really make a difference. I only use it for gaming so I think I will keep this CPU for at least my next GPU purchase. It will still pair amazing with a RTX3080
@@NeonLine1982 for example I just installed Far Cry 6 and with all details crancked to ultra, and Fidelity X enabled I get 95-100 fps constantly. In general I can run everything new AAA game on high-ultra details above 90 fps. But still the bottleneck is the GPU. The CPU can handle much more
I think that the 5600x is one of the best CPUs ever. It can be cooled by its stock cooler. The low watt consumption means that it will last many years and will have few issues with stability. It does well in gaming and also in applications (that benefit from single core and multi core alike). It's price is as of writing very good and the same goes for compatible motherboards. Only when Intel provides forward compatible motherboards which will make (in the long term) them become available at a great price as many can chose an older gen AMD motherboard like the B450 socket. My only concern is for those who are into video editing and would hugely benefit from the igpu of Intel that provides Quick Sync.
Agreed 100%. I've been using Ryzen CPUs with no iGPU for video editing for the past couple of years, and I can't say I've felt held back at all, so not sure Quick Sync is that much of a benefit...
@@vemprite5698 The 12400 is an excellent choice. NOT to be confused with the 12400F which has its iGPU disabled. The 12400 is at a good price and I presume that the "new 14th gen" launch will cause the prices for the 12th and 13th generation to drop. Moreover the 12400 does not draw many watts and is easily cooled. The iGPU of 12th gen Intel can do wonders. For a budget GPU you can consider the Intel a380 or the new a580 but if you enjoy gaming go for NVIDIA and make sure the GPU has a wide memory bus (the recent RTX 4060 and RTX 4060 Ti have a very narrow memory bus)
Thought id subscribe since its nice to see a fellow South African. Plus, thank you, i just bought this chip since be 7000 series require a full upgrade
I just bought it new at 160euros in promotion. Upgraded from 2600 with 5700xt it is incredible, on some games like Horizon I went from 101 avg to 140 avg. On some games there is less difference like Borderlands 3 with only 10/15 fps gain
This performance isnt in line with the results hardware unboxed got where the 5600X outperformed 12400 in gaming in general. And often with quite the margin. I wonder what could differ? Did you run the memory with XMP only? Stock coolers?
Benchmark numbers will differ a lot depending on the reviewer. No one will ever have numbers that are too similar, and if they do then it's a bit sus. As for why, it could be down to any number of things. I suspect in my testing the difference came down to the 12400 being run with DDR5 as stated in the video, and the motherboard's boosting features left enabled. The memory and motherboard are the only differences between the systems I used, so it's likely that. However it could also come down to older versions of games vs newer versions (which I usually account for), the choice of games with some being better optimized for one platform or the other (I just test the games I own), an older version of Windows vs a newer version (I always ensure both are updated to the latest but you never know), and a bunch of other small details that could impact results without reviewers even noticing. I'm happy with the validity of my results as I looked at other reviewers' and quite a few of them had similar numbers.
Wasn't the Hardware Unboxed numbers very close though? I think the conclusion was that as far as those two CPUs go it depends on what platform you prefer. I think the Intel CPU is somewhat cheaper.
@@TheTechTank yes, there are just too many variables when it comes to system builds and testing. There is no real 100% accurate testing out there. Thus, reviewing multiple sources of benchmarks and then combining them all together and coming up with an average of the collected data would give more realistic numbers. At the end of the day, both are great platforms and it comes down to the budget and what the system is mainly used. Long are gone those days when Intel was dominating the CPU market 2006 - 2017.
Just picked up mine for 180 with tax. Saw instant improvements from my r7 3700. Didn’t really care for much of an upgrade. Just wanted better frames in less optimized games on a budget
Am in between this one and ryzen 7 5700g, r5 5600x it's just abit faster for games right now and also cheaper but r7 5700g has 8 cores and 65 euros more expensive, not sure what to do lol
It's an awesome CPU and I love it, never had it bottleneck no matter what game I threw at it, never had any issues at all. I was lucky enough to get it before the crazy silicone shortage so there is that. One of the high points was its low power needs as my PC is constantly running so I always keep low power hardware in mind. The stock cooler btw is total garbage, get aftermarket, even a cheap off brand cooler will do a better job than the fan included in the kit.
I think I should run a poll to see how many people keep power consumption in mind when it comes to their PC hardware. I always figured most people don't care but then I see people like you chime in so I wonder how many people fall into each camp... And yeah, stock coolers in general are usually pretty garbage, but they'll at least keep you up and running until you can upgrade so I think it's still a nice value-add.
My stock cooler has kept my pc under 70c while on games like tarkov, ready or not, insurgency, plus elden ring etc. Its doing the job but I do keep my tempered glass off for fresh air intake until I can upgrade and get more fans.
Just built my first PC, and I'm running the 5600X with a Radeon 6950XT. I crank The Outer Worlds to max settings and receive nothing close to stuttering/noticeable struggling. Beam NG Drive also performs dang near flawlessly
I have three 5600X and two 5600 and a single 5600G in the home with the first 5 on x570 and G on B550 in the shop. I have all the gen4 ports I could need so I likely will keep these in use for at least 4 more years as they are Media, Family and Shop PC's. Before my Ryzen builds starting in 2020 I had random dated hardware throughout the house. These upgrades were very affordable and I can't see how basic browsing and gaming will not do well for at least 4 more years.
Congrats, man! The 5600X is an amazing chip for a first build. Really rooting for you to find a decently-priced GPU soon, hoping prices go down a little more over the coming months.
conclusion seems clear. If building from scratch go with Intel. If you can spare a new mobo purchase by reusing your existing Ryzen mobo and just buy the new chip, then stick with 5600x. That's what I plan on doing at least (upgrading my CPU with the same AX370 motherboard). If I was building from scratch I'd probably stick with the i5.
got a 5600x for $189 converted incl. shipping from my local online shop. the best thing about this is, I just sold my old R5 3600 for $170 so I'm spending just about $19 for a good upgrade that will last me until I'll go for a 5800X3D by end of year if prices get cut. AM4 will last me a very long time then after
Did you notice improvement in overall performance? I got a deal for the 5600x but I’m currently sitting on a 3600, don’t know if I made the right decision. Upgrade for me was 25usd though.
I just got a 5600X for under 200€, Indecided against 12th gen, because I'd get DDR5 with it which would drastically increase the price and more than negate the difference in price here (175€ for the i5 here and 200-225€ for the Ryzen) So I decided to stick with DDR4 and get a Ryzen instead of basically "wasting" potential the i5 has or having to get DDR5 and a more expensice MB. I've been putting off getting a new PC for so long that its reached a point where I basically have to get one as soon as possible. Otherwise I'd have waited another year or two for DDR5 and DDR5 compatible boards to come down in price as that would be whole different story if getting the MB and DDR5 were equally as expensive as getting the MB and DDR4 for Ryzen. As I said I don't see the point in running a 12th Gen Intel with DDR4, of course it can do that quite well but why waste potential?
Totally understand where you're coming from, and you make a valid point. I just don't personally see running a 12th-gen chip with DDR4 as "wasted potential". Primarily because in a lot of the testing I've seen, the difference between DDR4 and 5 is often almost negligible for the time being due to DDR5's high latency, and it'll take another year or two before we see that latency come down significantly.
G SKILL FLARE X CL14 3800mhz 4x8 Samsung b-die sweet spot 1900flck on a Asus rog strix b350-f gaming with the latest bios on a Ryzen 5 5600x.Timmings of cl14-14-14-28-42 at 1.5volts stable no errors memtest86 3 days. Just enabled PBO2 everything set to auto and I see 2 cores boosts to 4.75ghz no cpu boosts are nothing just enable PBO2 temps are great though idle is 25-32c and at full load when gaming is 60c. tops.
There are of course other considerations that weren't mentioned. The addition of b350, a320, and x370 boards now getting updates to be able to support 5000 series the cost of entry for a 5000 series system if you are willing to go used is way lower than the potential cost of entry of a 12th gen system. And even if Intel does give a second generation of support for the socket that's only one generation of upgrade path. So it's not as if that's a huge selling point. What would likely make a lot more sense from a future perspective would be to buy into a cheap b350 system now. Use it until you feel it's no longer meeting your needs. Then when it's time to upgrade again even if that's only two years down the road you'll be upgrading into a place where ddr5 is more affordable and you might have some storage solutions that can actually take advantage of the PCIE 5.0 on the boards.
Cost is a huge thing. I got a 5600 non x 2 days ago to upgrade from my 5820k. A cpu made in 2014…. Huge upgrade! I’m liking it so far and for a new CPU, mobo and ram it cost me $450 out the door. Hard to beat that. The i5 12400 would’ve costed me about $100-$150 more for what seems to be not much more performance.
@@exturkconner How do you know? What if they start changing sockets every generation. There is no guarantee that AMD will keep AM5 for 5 years. Also Intel upgrade path exists from 12 to 13 gen. And what if 14th Gen slots into socket 1700, that's another economical upgrade path.
@@jasonking1284 I mean they said it would be active for several generations and considering that am4 lasted even longer then they said it would I think it's a solid bet.
So I just upgraded last night from a Ryzen 3 2200G to this cpu. Which I will hold true to having been the best choice for trying to budget. Since MB and all other components work fine with it. Just wish I had the affordability to get some of the higher end stuff xD
The 12400 sounds great. Would probably get one if I hadn't already bought a B550 board LoL I'm hopeful that April will bring good deals on AMD CPU's though what with all of the new launches. The 5800x has come down in price near me so it is tempting. Would you recommend it over the 5600x? I've got the Asus B550-E for it's CPU upgrade potential but was thinking of going with an APU for the time being as this will be a kids' PC.
dont forget 5800x runs hotter, if you don't already have a good 2nd hand cooler. I was also tempted buying 5800x but honestly it will be of no benefit for playing games, basically not worth it unless you know it is.
@@user-wq9mw2xz3j True. The 5600x seems like the best deal for a gaming PC. And now GPU prices are dropping a bit so it might make more sense than a 5700G.
Would also recommend waiting to see what the 5600's performance looks like before deciding. At the very least I suspect even more price drops will come around the time when that launches. Oh, and you should only really consider the 5800/5700X if you can get them for a great deal, and plan to use the system for more than just gaming.
Got this for $140 at micro center with the $50 off coupon. Had a 2nd pc with a 3070 that was getting bottlenecked tough with a shitty 9th gen i3. Now that pc is smooth as butter.
Hi Tank, I do not know how good of a value it is now since AMD just announced that they'll release the 5600 and 5500. Both are on 7nm but the 5500 is like the 5600G, without the APU built in and it is only PCIE Gen 3 while the 5600 has Gen 4 support. Yes AMD announce those CPU's.
Hey! Oh damn, they really did just officially announced those chips, lol. While I was editing this video today it was all still just "rumors". Doesn't change the value proposition for the 5600X all that much as far as I can tell. The new chips are filling gaps in AMD's current market, not replacing any of the existing current-gen chips. The 5600X should still outperform both the 5600 and 5500, and if it's by enough then it should still be worthwhile.
While one year ago the 5600x was $230, on amazon of today its $156 now. It makes sense though because newer processors keep coming out which lowers the prices for these older processors. I've seen the reviews on amazon and man 5 stars that's crazy. this is the next processor I'm going to get along with 32GB Patriot Viper Elite Ram and an EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 KO Ultra Gaming. I currently have an AMD Ryzen 3 3100. This processor does pretty good but I bought it used and want to buy the 5600x next. My Current GPU is a EVGA GeForce GTX 1060. Still a great GPU. Would recommend the 1060 for anyone on a budget. My ram isn't that great but its because I mistakenly bought the 8GB pack instead of the 16GB which was on sale at the time and around the same price for the 8GB. By the way Nice Video!
Appreciate it! This chip really has just gotten better and better with each new price drop, and it's going to be a huge upgrade over your R3. I had a 1060 for years and that thing was a beast that can still hold its own at 1080p even today!
The 1060 is still a good low-medium sometimes high settings 1080p card, but I would still never recommend that card today. You can get a 1070, 1080, 1080ti, 2060, or a 2080 all for $100-220. You could even get a Rx 580-590 for the same $80-100 as the 1060 these days and have 8gb of ram
The 12400 needs to be the better chip as its a newer chip. One thing that makes the 5600x attractive is the fact it still uses the AM4 socket. 12th gen Intel chips need a mobo upgrade which adds to the cost of the chip. Stiil, Intel have upped their game which is good for the industry and competition. Cant help but feel AMD is still ahead of the curve and will be for a while.
Yes sir, new builders would benefit more by going Intel right now, but if you're already in the AM4 ecosystem it just makes sense to stick with Ryzen. Happy to see competition like this in the industry again.
I switched from Intel to AMD. I used Intel I3; then I used a motherboard socket AM4 for the 5000X series and updated it to socket AM5 for the 7000X series. Intel doesn't give the full power threads that AMD gives for gaming. Ideal for office-orientated stuff, but when you want something powerful you will need AMD. However, their problem is that they require a lot of power, and if you don't have a sufficient cooling system it might get problematic.
I bought r5 5600x in 2022 and I come to say I don't realize I have several answers, and I play with 60fps and it's fluid and I also play economy in the power options.....and it only has 6 cores and 12 threads and I don't have performance drops and fps in the economy, will have more years in high performance.......I don't understand your answers I will keep this processor until 2030, THIS CPU IS AMAZING
I have a B450 motherboard for 2.5 years. I had a Ryzen 7 2700x in it and I replaced it not too long ago for a Ryzen 5 5600x, because I bought an RTX 3080 and it was bottlenecked in 1440p. After I upgraded the BIOS and put the new Ryzen 5 5600x into the machine the RTX 3080 started to show it's real power in 1440p. With a 240mm AiO I was able to set all cores to 4.7 ghz and the games even smoother.

@@deaneyle3940 That is correct. I am using GIGABYTE B660 AORUS MASTER DDR4 for 12600 and the price seems to be quite reasonable, at least from where I am from as compared to other available MB.
I just bought one of these today. I got it for $213 USD. Im not upgrading from a different Ryzen, but an i5 4570 in an old Optiplex 3020 so I already know it will be enough for every game I play.
It's still a good bang for the buck unlike the 7600x which was like 300 bucks a year ago, even the 12400F was much cheaper and better value for the money.
So I bought a ryzen 5600 to replace a mishap with a cooler change :D I feel the X is just a gimmick and your better taking the non ex and slapping a really good 360 AIO on it with the extra money. My reasoning behind this. My 5600 with a 360 cooler and +200mhz overdrive on results in the following cinebench 23 score with crappy cl16 3200 mhz corsair memory. multi 11886 - single 1522. The listed cinebench r23 score for a 5600x is multi 11710 - single 1536. So by hitting a few buttons in bios Im already out performing it. Either I got lucky on silicon or the 5600 is just a 5600x getting moved before the values are totally gone.
Getting this thing for 150 bucks, right after upgrading from the 4770k to a Ryzen 2700 not a month ago, is insane. Just too good of an offer when my crap GA-A320-S2H supports 5000 processors with the new bios. Got an X570-A Pro on the way to replace it either way.
Hello, I have a question, I am trying to build a PC, but I don't know if I should buy this CPU or another, because I would like to upgrade it in the future with a better CPU when I have the money. What should I do?
Depends on the budget you're working with. If you get the 5600X you can upgrade to the 5800X3D sometime down the road, but that'll be your only real option. AM5 and Ryzen 7000 is your only option right now with a good future upgrade path, but it's pricy.
Appreciate that, man! Yeah I struggled with the audio on this one as I'd just gotten the Sennheiser MKE 600 and it was my first time ever working with a shotgun mic. I'm still trying to perfect the audio even now like a year later 🤣

I wouldn't recommend upgrading to the 5600, 5600X, or 5600G. The 3600 is still great for gaming, and you're not going to see nearly a big enough improvement to make upgrading worth it, IMO. If I had to choose though, I'd personally go for the recently launched 5600.
5600x makes up with l3 cache was intel makes up with single core performace they are kinda basically the same thing with back and forth in different terams of usage
Im not entirely sure what your methodology for testing is but there is a massive variance with your results compared to the majority of reviews. Might be doing something wrong bud. Perhaps precision boost overdrive not enabled? Although, that wouldnt make that much of a difference.

@@TheTechTank Hahaha, Thanks! Funny enough my brother made the funny decision to replace the 2400g in a computer with a 5600x for "400$". 🥶 The bloody thing had an rx 580 in it LMAO. so I traded a 3600, a thermal take cooler and 200$ for it unopened, figured he would at least be only missing out on half the CPU performance. He found that the 2400g was struggling to run Mount & Blade Bannerlord with army sizes of 120. Turns out I struck gold. the fact that a 63W Cpu could very well power a gpu that is twice the power of a 3080, is crazy. It's literally laughing at my rx 5700xt. 🤣
I originally planned to upgrade from 3300x to 5600x once i could replace my RX480, but honestly, i think this little beast can handle a 6600xt at 1080p for awhile, ill watch the performance war for now. If i need it later, it will be cheaper anyways.
@@TheTechTank I don't think it will be by much i play 2560x1080 and i like higher settings. My RX480 was held back by my 2550K before i got the 3300x and that was a nice bump in performance later in life so i suppose i'll see the same here.
Question I have a 3700x I'm not looking to upgrade to AM5 and get a new motherboard or RAM. What I would like to know is would a 5600x or 5700x be a good upgrade when what I do is mostly gaming with a 6700xt
Either of those would be a good upgrade for you. I just wouldn't personally upgrade from the 3700X to anything less than the 5800X3D - would be far more worthwhile.
The F chips are a fantastic value if you already have a GPU. I'd personally only get an F-chip if I was going to do an Intel build. As for the B660 boards, those are great too, but I wish they were priced a little closer to the B550 boards...
I have both... the i5 and the ryzen. Ryzen beats the i5 nearly everywhere. Same config. Maybe boost was somehow deactivated? (There were reported issues with activated boost but not working until bios reset)
Ryzen 5000 series + Windows 11 and tpm2 issue is going to be fixed on May. For me, thats a reason to buy something else now or just wait. Ps. 1080p? Isn't time already to move on to 2k res (1140p)?
I tested on Windows 10 since that's what all of the other CPUs were tested on, so I don't think there was an issue there. As for 1080p, the reason we benchmark CPUs at 1080p is to ensure that the CPU rather than the GPU is the bottleneck. If the GPU was the bottleneck in a CPU review, you're basically just benchmarking the GPU at that point and not the CPU. That's why in GPU reviews (including my own) you'll see results for 1440p and 4K along with 1080p.
Hello Friend. Fellow South African here. Do you think the 5600x stands up now , 7 months after this video was uploaded, by todays standards? You even said the price was R4800 for it back then, its about R3000 - R4000 now depending on where you get it so the price is even cheaper
Hey man, always cool to see someone else from SA in my comments. The 5600X still more than holds its own. The new chips from AMD and Intel are way too expensive for the performance you'll be getting, especially if you need a motherboard and RAM upgrade too. The 12400 is also still a good option, and you'll be able to upgrade to the 13th gen when prices drop.
doing my research before I upgrade my ryzen 1200 as its the weak link in my prebuild I bought used a year ago The 5600x is very temping at its £200 mark as i'd prob make £50 by selling my 1200 off. Well the 1060ti 3Gb is also a weak point but i'm waiting on cheap used 1080ti's to flood the market as people give up mining.
Oof, yeah gotta get off of that 1200 ASAP. It's probably still fine for most tasks but it's gotta be showing its age by now. If money's tight, the 5600G or the newly announced 5500 would also be great picks.
@The Tech Tank I was hoping sometime soon I'd finally upgrade my 1060 to a 3060ti, will my ryzen 5 3600x cpu hold back the performance of the 3060ti or will I need to get a 5600x aswell for a more stable performance ?
@@TheTechTank thanks, i actually found a palit 3060ti for £530, its pricey but not a bad choice at all considering gpu's has been out of stock for a rediculously long time lol, hopefully i can get it within a few weeks since the site im looking at allows payment over monthly fee (Awd-it) before it goes out of stock.
I’m at a crossroad. I game a lot, and stream on twitch. Should I keep my R5 5600x and get 2x16 gb of RAM. Or should I upgrade to the R9 5900x and keep the 2x8 gb of RAM I have now? I have a an RTX 3070 and use nvec encoder for streams.
That's a tough one since you'll benefit from a RAM and CPU upgrade if you're streaming. Since it's the cheaper option I'd start with the RAM. Get the 32GB kit, then sell your current kit to help cover the cost of a future CPU upgrade if you feel like you need it.
cant help but wonder what the performance would be for the 12400 on DDR4, im looking at upgrading at at the current price of DDR5 im likely going to have to settle for DDR4, awesome Video though
Hey, thinking of upgrading my 3600 for the 5600X, currently on an ASUS ROG Strix B550-F with RTX 3070 and a Noctua NH-U9S on my 3600. The old fan still good for the 5600x? (2 years old now). Or would I benefit more if I step up to 5800X? (only gaming on my PC)
Your old cooler should still be totally fine regardless of what you upgrade to. For gaming exclusively, I would get the 5600X and spend the extra cash elsewhere.
Hi im new to your channel and browsing some of your videos, just want to ask if you upgrade 2700 to 5600x is it worth it?or should i get 3700x? beside from gaming i used my pc for work as well. appreciate your reply more power to your channel, by the way i like how you do your bencmarks and explanation.
Appreciate that so much, man! I wouldn't personally upgrade from the 2700 to the 5600X or the 3700X for that matter. You'd get slightly better gaming performance with the 5600X, but probably less performance in work tasks, and the 3700X wouldn't be a big enough improvement to warrant the upgrade cost. If you do need an upgrade down the line, I wouldn't personally go lower than the new 5700X.
Thumbs up for your work, but the question is pointless. Owner of AM4 mobo looking for an upgrade most likely won't change the platform to Intel. Owner of Ryzen 1600x on budget won't look at 5950X.
Appreciate that, though I don't believe the question is pointless. I explain in the video that switching to Intel when you're already in the AM4 ecosystem doesn't make sense from a value perspective. The video serves as an updated review of a chip that came out a while ago for people looking to upgrade, and for those people it's good to know what all of their updated options are.
Can anyone suggest me a good B550 series motherboard for this CPU? RGB and WIFI are not my priority, I just want a good performance board. I will pair it with a GTX 1070, 2X16GB 3600Mhz RAMs and install a 1TB internal SSD. Thanks in advance.
Most of the B550 boards are rock-solid, I don't think you can really go wrong with any of them. I like The ASUS TUF version, or the MSI Tomahawk, but really you can just buy the board with the most features you want.
Looking to build a new PC for hard-core gaming and streaming simultaneously on different platforms but can't decide with which one should I go with. Is still R5 5600x good for my work or should I go with R7 higher series?
If you can go for an R7 or higher it would be better for your use case, but if not the 5600X should be okay. You might run into some issues if you use your CPU as your encoder, so you might just need to set your GPU to do it (it'll lower your FPS but depending on the GPU it shouldn't be a big drop).
@@TheTechTank Firstly, Thank you for the reply as I read few blogs and watch some videos and come to conclusion that i5 12th is overall good as compared to 5600X. So, If I do combination i5 12th + RTX 3070/3060 Ti can i expect 4k gaming + streaming simultaneously and if not then can you suggest me a graphics + cpu under $800-900
Oof, gaming and streaming at 4K is only going to give you headaches. I'd suggest gaming at 4K for fun, but when streaming I'd drop my base resolution to 1440p and stream at 1080p. If you're going to be using GPU encoding, 4K isn't going to leave you with much headroom for the stream and you might get stuttering and low frame rates. The 12600 is a great option regardless, it's more about whether your GPU can manage to run and stream your games at good quality simultaneously.

@@noirsumptious No, I never tried it. I bought a aftermarket cheap deepcool cooler. Worls like charm. Never got more than 65 degrees in stress tests.
Thanks!

The 12400 is an excellent choice.

A great upgrade, congrats!
The 5600x comes out of the box with a low base speed. Overclocking is almost necessary to judge ryzen v intel

Got a Pc being made for me rn with this, and a 3060. Hoping it all runs well
I just got a 5600X for under 200€, Indecided against 12th gen, because I'd get DDR5 with it which would drastically increase the price and more than negate the difference in price here (175€ for the i5 here and 200-225€ for the Ryzen)
So I decided to stick with DDR4 and get a Ryzen instead of basically "wasting" potential the i5 has or having to get DDR5 and a more expensice MB.

I've never actually worked with a Jonsbo product before, so I can't really say, but that one doesn't look like a bad pick for the price.
Hi Tank,
I do not know how good of a value it is now since AMD just announced that they'll release the 5600 and 5500.
I bought this puppy on Amazon during the Black Friday deal - $150. I snagged that puppy!!

I just upgraded from a g4560. Huge improvement is an understatement
Oh dang, man! That's one hell of an improvement indeed! I bet you're loving it, lol.
However, their problem is that they require a lot of power, and if you don't have a sufficient cooling system it might get problematic.
i snagged one the very day the price changed. so seeing all this content about how exciting that pricing is feels good.
Gotta love the sweet sweet purchase validation, lol. Good job on holding out for so long, you snagged it at probably the best time.

Depends on the budget you're working with. If you get the 5600X you can upgrade to the 5800X3D sometime down the road, but that'll be your only real option. AM5 and Ryzen 7000 is your only option right now with a good future upgrade path, but it's pricy.

Either of those would be a good upgrade for you. I just wouldn't personally upgrade from the 3700X to anything less than the 5800X3D - would be far more worthwhile.

Went with the 12400f. A lot cheaper and it's only couple percent worse than the 5600X.
Also the B660 motherboard makes budget builds possible.
The F chips are a fantastic value if you already have a GPU. I'd personally only get an F-chip if I was going to do an Intel build. As for the B660 boards, those are great too, but I wish they were priced a little closer to the B550 boards...

Not a bad match at all, but depending on what CPU you have, getting a better GPU instead might be smarter (for gaming).
Can you do an update with the 5700x.
