    Love the video and your comments about woodworking. Like you, I’ve always wanted to do it, but never got a chance until recently. My detached garage has become a place to get away from the stress of everyday life and lose myself in a project. Thanks for sharing.

    Love the smell of fresh saw dust
    Hate the dust… coming up with solutions!
    Great job

    I'm glad I found this video, was looking to improve the dust collection on the same saw. Also when I talk woodworking to any of my family and friends, I might as well be speaking a different language.

    Regarding your comments about the effect of the shop projects causing you to feel good. I agree. I think of each small accomplishment as a "trophy" that I put on a shelf in my mind. Whenever I think of my "trophies" it makes me feel good.

      I think it's important to have small accomplishments often. They give the confidence to work toward the big ones. Thanks for watching.

    I love building shop solutions. I recently mounted a router to the extension wing of this saw and it had several challenges. I've showed friends pictures and what I did and nobody really understands or appreciates it.

      You are 100% right. The average person has no idea what it takes to do the things we do.

      Was it the Kobalt router table?

    • @DenverBronx12
      @DenverBronx12 3 года назад +1

      @@bernarddouthit4647 it sure was! I wasn't satisfied with it just floating on the support bar, it rattled, and wasn't level with the rest of the saw.
      I framed the inside of the cast aluminum with notches to clamp to the saw wings support bar. It will eventually allow me to build an enclosure for the whole router for dust collection, and space for bit and wrench storage.

    I love woodworking and like you, I love talking about woodworking. I’m a bit lost on this shroud insert, but your commentary is awesome. I caught the woodworking bug last Fall and there’s no going back now. I also agree 100% about making small shop jigs. Speaking of have you tried to build a jointer jig for your Delta saw? I just bought the 36-725T2 today.

      I have free plans on my website under the free plans section. Thank you for the compliment. Be careful! Once you start woodworking you can't stop. I haven't built a jointer jig yet, but soon. I've heard good things about the T2. You will love it.

    Nice. I could use a dust collector on my table saw. smart

  • @regibson23
    @regibson23 3 года назад +5

    If you made a zero clearance insert you could attach the dust shroud to the insert. That way when you need to tilt the blade, you'll have to swap the insert, which also removes the dust shroud.
    On finding woodworkers, if you have a rockler anywhere near you they have little tutorials every weekend and they usually have info on woodworking clubs. Woodcraft may have something like this too. Or pretty much any woodworking shop.

    • @CornerCreekWoodworking
      @CornerCreekWoodworking  3 года назад

      That's a great idea. I have a zero clearance insert that I made but I never thought about putting them together.
      The closest Rockler to me is in Memphis about two and a half hours away and the closest Woodcraft is in Nashville about four and a half hours away. I work six days a week at my normal job so those are not really an option for me. I've checked all the social media and there isn't any options that I could find. To be honest, with my schedule, it would be very difficult to do anything in person even if there was a reasonable option.

      Rob, that was a great tip concerning connecting the dust shroud to the zero clearance insert. Thanks for sharing it with us.

    My wife accepts me talking about wood working, but she doesn’t appreciate it like we do.
    Gotta say that I love to just watch the patterns unfold as I build. I keep highly figured wood visible at all times and eventually the piece calls to me and tells me what it wants to be. Then I attempt to have the skills to actually make the piece.

    You and I are the same. I never had a chance because I lived on military housing and being bumped all over the place, then the last 20 years working 48-60 hours a week to pay my home off before I retired.

    I greatly appreciate your doing this video, as I own the Ridgid R4560, which is the clone of the delta. Just a color change and name. I’m curious, since you haven’t noted, but what is the thickness of the plywood you’re using? 1/4”?

    Finding woodworkers locally is interesting. I’m in a weird place where I have plenty but don’t want to bother them. WWGOA is 10 minutes away from me and a few RUclipsrs are near my hometown within 20 miles. Hoping for more meetups in the next year. Handwerks 2022! Very excited for that. Worth a look if you’re anywhere near Iowa.

    • @CornerCreekWoodworking
      @CornerCreekWoodworking  3 года назад +1

      I don't know of any woodworkers that are close to me. I'm in Northeast Mississippi so Iowa would be a little too far away. I am thinking about going to Workbench Con next year. Atlanta is only a 5 hour drive.

  • @huejanus5505
    @huejanus5505 3 года назад

    I was thinking about that little extension you made to direct the errant sawdust. Couldn’t you make, perhaps two more, and then just cut the tops off at say 22 and one at 45 degrees to use when you bevel the blade? Maybe rivet a little aluminum bracket on to hold the short side.

    • @CornerCreekWoodworking
      @CornerCreekWoodworking  3 года назад +1

      I think it would work, I just don't do enough angled cuts to justify the time it would take to build them.

    There is a company that makes an aftermarket blade guard that is also an overhead /integrated dust collection system. It looks like what a SawStop or Harvey table saw has. They make different models for different saws and I think can even make fhem custom. I’ll try and post a link to the company’s website tomorrow.

      I plan to build an outfeed table whenever I have time. I have an idea for an overhead dust collector. It seems like a fun build. I would like the website for inspiration. Thank you for watching.

    Brother why didn't you use CA glue to put it together ? No nails no mess .

  • @sinsofvorador
    @sinsofvorador 3 года назад

    You know. I wonder if you could make the same type of piece where it's flexible. So you could tilt the blade without taking it out

    • @CornerCreekWoodworking
      @CornerCreekWoodworking  3 года назад

      I would be afraid to try that. It would have to bend at the exact right spot every time.

    • @sinsofvorador

      @Corner Creek Woodworking I was meaning like a piece of heavy canvas or Kevlar or even the material that's on the side of the stock metal guard.

    Since this only works at 90 degrees, why not glue it to the bottom of a zero-clearance insert (which you obviously need, btw ;)?

    I currently have the DELTA 36-725T2. The dust collection is a JOKE and the casters and leveling feet are horrible! Why would delta only put 3 casters, and only two leveling feet?! For most of us who are in a sloped unleveled garage it’s literally impossible to get it perfectly leveled in’ both’ directions! By the time you get it leveled front to back, it’s out of wack left to right (or vice versa). My 3 car garage floor has a 1 & 1/2” slop from the middle to garage door opening. EXTREMELY frustrating not being able to setup my table saw the way I KNOW it SHOULD BE and CAN BE! As most woodworkers know, it’s very hard and frustrating not having a “baseline” level surface to build everything else off of. If your table saw isn’t level, than neither is your through plate, fence, wings, etc.

    • @CornerCreekWoodworking
      @CornerCreekWoodworking  2 года назад

      I agree with what you are saying. There are a lot of things I wish were different about this saw. Part of the concrete in my shop was poured in the 40's so it is very bad. Also, the handle that locks the fence broke a couple of days ago. Looks like it's time to start looking for an upgrade.

    I have the exact same saw I've had it for seven years and I just took the bottom legs off of it and built a wooden case for it and put rollers on it and man does it roll around a lot easier now. Now to improve the dust system. The only one I can talk to about woodworking is my son. Could you give measurements for the shroud?

    • @CornerCreekWoodworking
      @CornerCreekWoodworking  3 года назад

      I love my saw. I have drawn plans for a cabinet to get mine off the stand, but I haven't had the time to build it yet. I'll be able to get the measurements this weekend. Thanks for watching.

      I have a Craftsman 113.c I got when I was 10 years old. I’m 40 now and it’s still on it’s stupid wobbly thin metal legs that flex when you push it with the wheels engaged. I curse up and down at it and haven’t put it on a box because it’s easier to get under it and busy building other stuff. It’s on the list but I keep putting it off.

      I added drawings to my website (Link in the description), click on the Free Plans tab to download a copy. Thank you for asking for measurements, it gave me an idea. I will be adding more free plans for my small projects from time to time. Thanks for watching.

      Spirit Wings, you and Rob are smart chocolate chip cookies. I think that I will build a platform for my saw. It is portable as it is right now, but it's not easy to roll from one spot to another. It takes a little 'maneuvering' to get it exactly to the spot where I want it to be.

    Thanks for the video. I'm going to attempt to make the same shroud tonight when I get home. The dust collection is lacking at best.
    Btw, I love farting around with wood working a lot!
    I began after the beginning of the China virus outbreak.
    My whole basement which consists of a 2 car garage and equal space finished den/rec area. About 1300 s.f. total.
    Half is the wood shop and the other is for my auto upholstery stuff, which I also began doing when the China virus hit.
    I live alone with my dog and split with my girlfriend just after I bought my house, so I don't have anyone nagging me to stop dickin around.
    I'm becoming quite good with the furniture I have built and have basically furnished my bedrooms with my creations. Beds, night stands, end tables in my living room etc.
    One drawback with being down in the basement and no wife or girlfriend to nag me is that without any windows and no clock, by choice, is that I lose track of time and next thing I know is it's 5am and I need to open my other business by 8am.
