Howdy Flik. Great video and it gives a ton of insight into what's happened behind the scenes the past couple years. I, like many others, first encountered you through Overwatch (specifically dwarf fortress) and you have had my subscription ever since. As far as my own personal interaction with your channel a lot has ebbed and flowed with the content you cover and my own free time. Being longer-form my binging of your videos tends to coincide with slow periods in my life, so when I'm busy the algorithm thinks I've moved on; which is true for several content creators I enjoy. Likewise while you did get me into several games (Isaac and Gungeon) and pushed me over the edge on others, there are definitely periods of time where your interests and mine diverged, and that is fine. I have no intention of Unsubbing as eventually our interests will line up again.
You and the shenanigans you get into with your friends have provided hundreds of hours of entertainment through the years. I appreciate your humor and your genuine reaction to things, even to the point of revealing some of your idiosyncrasies. You are true to your "Brand" and content creators with a similar brand were just selected against as YT grew into the monster that it is now. Don't be hard on yourself for not compromising for views, you would probably hate yourself and/or hate doing this now if you did.

Thank you for being so open and honest Flik, not an easy thing to do online. As a more mature gamer I clicked with this channel almost right away and have been a big fan here on YT for years. Hoping this train can keep on rolling, still one of my favorite creators and always will be.

Came for Overwatch, stayed for the banter with your friends and community. Funny you mention your channel being like a TV station - I rewatch some of your old series like a comfort show. As a gay writer myself, happy to continue supporting the channel and enjoy your recent vids as well. Thanks for the years of entertainment!

I originally found your channel years ago when you did a collab with Dodger, showing her the basics of Monster Hunter. Have been subbed ever since and routinely come back to watch your let’s plays, particularly your solo runs of Dark Souls 2 and various Monster Hunter games. I even got up the courage to ask you a question when you were doing weekly Q&A videos, and you answered it! I’ve been bummed to see that you’ve not been rewarded with the viewership you deserve, but as long as you keep uploading videos, I’ll be sure to keep watching.
    Wishing you the best, mate!

Started following during the Overwatch days, have stuck around for all the great stuff since. Barring anything unforeseen, as long as you keep creating I'll keep watching! And just so it isn't left unsaid - thank you for all you've done over the years, I appreciate you!

I discovered you back in the overwatch days, and I've stuck around because of the variety. I loved your no bullSh*t attitude and your honesty. It was refreshing to find someone who was genuine and wasn't pandering for the views.
I try to catch your streams when possible, but timezones are rough.
I want to say thank you for ALL the content you've made, as well as the sheer number of twitch babies you've fathered.. As if overpopulation wasn't going to be an issue.
Side note; hearing you say that you're gay made me light up.. As you said, you don't really talk about it, and I didn't know.. but as a fellow gay, it always makes me feel happy inside when other people say it out loud.. Enough rambling. Thanks for everything. ❤

Hey bud, been with your channel since before the overwatch days. I've seen the low views on your videos and just though twitch was giving you a lot more. It pains me to hear how rough it is. I didn't watch any of your overwatch videos and there were some opinions you had that I didn't agree with, but I absolutely loved the fact you were blunt and straight to the point with your opinions. There are so many lets play youtubers I have watched that just rolled over and chased things they didn't love to play for the views. Making this video and stepping out of your normal boundaries and opening up was a very big balls move and something I would be afraid to do. You are a great person and I hope to watch your content many more years in the future. Its times like these I wish I was loaded with money because you bet your ass I would make sure you stay afloat. Love ya Flik and I'm happy to be a part of this family

    Hey there Flik,
This is not the first time I've commented/watched/participated in chat.
I've been following your channel since that sponsored mh3u video.
I used to make videos and streamed under the name TheBearthropod.
Never got any success but it was just for fun.
You always have been and always will be my favorite content creator.
I loved learning all the new things about you from your new videos.
As another private and quiet person, I respect you greatly.
I've always thought that if we met in game or in person we would hit it off and be friends.
Only because of our similar views on games and both being in the lgbtqia+ community.
You're inclusiveness, respectful nature and humor always makes me smile.
Your Hollow knight coverage coincided with at the time the lowest point in my life. I suffered from a severe sciatica flare up. I couldn't walk for two weeks and was in excruciating pain. Your daily videos of hollow knight gave me a flicker of hope(no pun intended please don't send the legitimate business frog i need my kneecaps).
If I thought that was the lowest point in my life, let's just say I definitely did not see 2022 coming.
I lost my grandfather, two uncles, an aunt , a beloved pet of 18years and my mother.
I was horribly depressed for two years, but true to form there were your posh Scottish accent and dry wit to get me through.
So, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Even if there are horrid people criticizing you, friends betraying you, I wanted you to know for what its worth you are an absolute treasure of a human being.

Normally I prefer to just lurk and watch your videos from time to time (as well as others), but I had to leave a comment. Thanks for the insight of another content creator of the rise and fall of what happens with a channel in general. One of the things I always tell my friends is when they started uploading videos to YT, is to do it for themselves and not for others. At the end of the day, if you don't enjoy what you are doing, why bother. The whole point of what people do is to have fun with it. Otherwise it's basically considered just a job at that point (granted there's nothing wrong with that). Anyways, I had to make this comment just based on the comment at the end coming from nothing to go to a dream job where you had it all but then lost it all and kept going. That really got me considering I lost my channel back in 2019 to hackers after building it up to about 33k subs. Granted the channel was dying by then but I still enjoyed making the videos.
Anyways, not going to drone on about my failures considering you seemed to have bounced back enough to making a living out of it. Oh and I want to thank you for introducing me to different rogue-likes (and the genre in general). Without your channel and your commentary, I never would of gotten into stuff like Isaac, Dead Cells or other rogue-likes/lites. Thank you for producing witty (and funny) content!

Discovered you back when I was in middle school through Overwatch. I remember you replied to my comment on a video once and I made it my phone background because I thought it was so cool that a popular RUclipsr replied to me😂. Haven’t watched as much in recent years, but I still have you to thank for introducing me to Gungeon, one of my favorite games. Great video, it was nice to get a refresher of the witty, Scottish humor😂

I remember when I first found your channel, I was trying to figure out how to get a barroth tail on MH3U.
I'm very thankful your channel is around, it helped me get through tough times and made me discover a lot of amazing games through the 1h of series.
I think you underestimate how relaxing it is to listen to your playthroughs, I hope you'll post more content ^^

Thank you for making the content you make! I don't leave comments much (which i think i should because that helps the algorithm right?) but i just wanted to add my voice the the people giving support.
There have been a couple of times in my life that your videos/streams helped me get through rough or dark times. You always have had a nice and pleasing demeanor which helps me feel like I'm with people and not alone.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, thank you. I will continue my following of your content and do what i can to help pay back what you have done for other. I wish you the world and more.

A friend of mine recogmended your channel to me because we both were really into Gungeon. It took me a while until i could afford a subscription to your Twitch channel though, since I was 13 or 14 when I was introduced.
    I'm very glad I did
Later on you started your Tabletop channel, which I follow ever since.
Funnily enough I among other reasons ( like your personality and skill in videogames ) like watching your videos/streams BECAUSE of your voice/accent.
    All the best to you!

Insightful and honest. Part of the reason I've been following you since about the Overwatch days, when I used my old screenname. Just the variety of content was, and has been, a blast. And you are a big part of why my love for Monster Hunter came back. I'd lost touch with the series when it went Nintendo exclusive and seeing you guys play it made me jump back in with both feet.
So thank you for all the years of content, but also for being willing to be open and honest about it all with us about how it has worked or not and the lessons you've learned from it.

I've been watching your channel since your Dragons Dogma playthrough, and I've stayed mostly for the roguelikes, Isaac, Gungeon, dead cells, wizard of legend, etc etc.
And some oddballs like night in the woods, some short playthroughs, PUBG when you played that
Never really watched Overwatch besides the short highlights as I never liked the game.
I'm grateful for the content you've made over the years, sad that the channel has died down as time went on, but I still enjoyed the ride until now, and I'll keep showing up while you're still around making them! Thank you Flik, honesty

Really great video and I am glad I watched it. It takes a lot to reflect and share like that and you did it really well.
Found your channel looking for Elden Ring Seamless Coop videos and loved your accent, your opinions and how you feel very genuine in what you say and do.
I was honestly shocked how little likes and comments those videos have and will definitely be watching more in the future.
Thanks for doing what you do!

Flik this was a really interesting watch and i stayed for the whole video. Really easy to relate to your viewpoint even though im barely starting out with casual takes on the gaming scene.
I would hope that youd be rewarded with viewers and subs for just being true to yourself and not putting forward a "character" to lean into, but its sad to see that the world is not like that. I really feel your "i just cant be someone im not" stance... even if it hurts views. Its hard to fathom how genuinely detached from empathy some of your previous commenters have been. Thats a whole other level of poor behaviour.
For what its worth i found this through your dragons dogma 2 review vid.
I got a lot of value from this, and now subbed. Cheers.

Been here a while and I'm here for you. I'm not the biggest fan of streams, even less so now that I don't have as much time as I used to for watching videos, but I still poke my head in from time to time. I also never let my Twitch subscription lapse, even as I had to give up almost a hundred dollars in Patreon subscriptions for budget reasons. I hope things work out, in the end. I really do enjoy watching your content, and it would be a sad day if you have to stop making it.

Hey Flik amazing video as always and it was a fun deep dive into your channel. I think a lot has gone right for you and a lot has gone wrong both in your control and out. I found you during the overwatch days, but I always loved the variety. Your channel has been a great help to me over the years and just a fun “show” that I tune into. You’re an amazing entertainer and it is clear just how hard you work to make these videos.
I started off in the overwatch days because you just seemed like a guy palling around with his buddies’ playing games. And a lot of your channel is about having fun with games. Be it taking the piss of some games or genuinely enjoying every aspect of them. When you started playing Stardew valley and, I guess revealed is the right word that you are gay. I was taken aback and thought wow didn’t see that coming. And frankly it helped me realize that’s the point it is one aspect of a person and not a character typically fed to us in media. So, it helped a lot to reassess some other things in my life and helped me to be more accepting of others, not just what I viewed as “tolerant”.
It sucks that experience have shown you people think your job is easy when its, shocker, work. Outside of editing, scheduling, and basically running a small business, you must be on when you perform and that is a nearly impossible task for a human being. If you have one bad day and snap at someone for being rude or doing something annoying, you’re punished for it because of an unreal expectation on performers. And I hope that the channel will grow and get more traction again but maybe no so much where the lunatics come out, Or maybe you’ll make enough to have a community manager hired to clean up all the shit before you have to deal with it.
Of the many choices you had to make you have always been big against the numerous ads on youtube and taking sponsorships from crappy companies, but I have seen a sentiment in the Mega earners like RussianBadger, Septic eye, and the like that sponserships have become a must for channels now days. And I wonder if there was a way back then to sponsor companies that actually paid well, and you didn’t have to give up your morals. The business world sucks, and when you mix it with the entertainment industry it gets worse. I don’t envy your job but I appreciate it a lot. Thank you for everything and I continue to look forward to new content both here and on the boardgame channel.
    *Catchphrase!*

I....man i had forgotten those 2 incidents during the overwatxh days of the inappropriate mod and the r@cist remarks, its been so long now.
Ive been here since MH4 and dont plan on going anywhere, i appreciate that you feel comfortable talking about all this though. Especially that you felt comfortable enough while making this to mention that youre gay, a thing that i know all too well is hard to tell in general, let alone the internet. I remember having a similar reaction to that coop stardew valley game you and val did and youre marrying of a male character just "wow its amazing that this is something that can be done with no real fanfare being made about it"
Im kinda just rambling now, but thanks again for the Years of entertainment youve given us boss, i look forward to seeing how the channel goes with these new type of videos :flikpride:
