Thank you very much! The "Mark -> Clear In and Out" did it for me. I was really confused by this unintuitive behaviour of the program. Most people expect to paste something exactly there, where the current position is located (like in every other application).

Thank you so so much. This misbehavior probably costed a few days of my lifespan. Why DaVinci would just insist on inserting pasted clips onto the In marker is beyond me.

This fixed my different problem. Ctr+V wasn't working, but copying was. I'd have to right click the context menu & select it there. For some reason deselecting the magnet cleared it up, thanks.

Thanks. This was great. The magnetic snapping bug has the same issue in DR 17 as well. Unchecked that and it pastes right where the playhead is. One reason I think this is important is that I often have multiple quotes and want the same frame and set up (Rather than getting a new title from the toolbox and readjusting it). So it's important to be able to quickly copy title/quote boxes, and then paste in the new text into the same, previously formatted text title. Thanks again.

I had to wacth like 3 videos before finding the right answer which is your video. After unchecking the magnetic tool and clearing the in and out, it STILL gave me problems so i had to uncheck all the other tracks so it would actually paste where i wanted it cuz it started pasting waaaay down under my track.
Thanks for this video!! Cleaning in-out points worked for me, even with the mag tool on. The other thing that also worked was to set the in point at the time I wanted to paste the clips. Fun fact, when paste the clips it deleted booth in-out points. Thanks again! :)
Thank you it worked. Only comment is please go straight to the solutions after once describing the situations it may help. An awful lot of unnecessary preamble to get through before knowing what your solutions are. I say this as constructive feedback as some one who also produces vide0s, it helps me evolve, hope you do too. It worked and thank you.

@@cinechimp it's an awesome software, though there's a steep learning curve. But once you know it, you can edit so much more efficiently. Just these small small niggles. For instance, I couldn't find a shortcut key for muting the player volume.
@@UtpalBhatt That would depend on whether you are on a windows, linux or Mac version of resolve and how you have your speakers setup. (internal / external) using a I/O interface or a USB audio card / hub ???
@@UtpalBhatt Yep on a mac there is NO auto volume its full blast, so for each piece of media sometimes you will have to turn the audio down manually. Its a mac thing not a resolve thing

Lollllll, the start of the video is exactly why I have searched for this topic now. I just did exactly the same. And the video itself explained the problem/solution. The magnet was not set for me. In/Out was, but I do not want to clear them at the moment. I will use Alt-drag instead. Thanks anyways. Very useful great video. Is is sad that almost 2 years later this silly bug still exist in Resolve.
I think more people starting out are more confused with the track selection and which track gets the paste than this one. Also, I have noticed people that I have taught have problems with clearing the in and out because there is nothing selected, so they click the menu to clear and nothing happens. The problem of course is that there are several places on the edit page that can have IN/out and Resolve needs to know which occurrence of it to clear.

Omg, this bug has been SO fricking annoying... I've had it for i think over year now and the only way that i found a workaround was to just copy the first clip of the timeline and paste it so davinci pastes it right at the same place but it got rid of the marker bar that was stuck there. Thanks for showing the second tip, worked wonders. Just a little constructive critisism I wanted to say from the start of the video. I would've liked to see at least one shot where you showed what was happening in the program. Now i had to guess if this was a video about the issue i had or skip a lot of the video to get to somewhere in it where you showed what was actually the bug you were dealing with. It's not always crystal clear to me at least what to call these issues i have and programs like davinci have so many bugs that people might call two different bugs the same bc they are similar in nature. So at least one clip of showing the program where the clip you were pasting goes to the front of the project would've been really useful. Also as a content creator you probably want people to watch the whole video and not skip a bunch. Anyways, not meaning to be rude or anything, thought it could be a little tip from the viewer's perspective :)

still cant copy :(( buggy program. its moving things and delete things all by it selvf, so many problems. I made many vids on reslove 16, this is the first time this shoitt started its a shame, cuz i learned how to use resolve last year time. but its cost 11 hour for 3 dayes with bugs every day now
@@techquad1151 no probs, its not the common recommendation of the resolve team to prompt users updating the OS on their machines, but to stay with stable builds. I have only recently moved off Catalina on MAC as that was BMD's recommended OS for intel MACS. Now Im using a M1 Mac Mini so I on the latest OS as that is what was installed on the machine from factory. I have heard and been sent a number of complaints about bugs in windows with resolve. The down side of resolve is that it is optimised for the MAC platform first, then windows. And I have to say across all of my videos and emails I get from this channel the vast majority of people having issues are on PCs. In saying this I am thinking of moving back to PC as the new macs are not as good as everyone on YT are saying. And I believe in the right to repair and right to upgrade....entirely of point.....maybe roll back your OS if you can and let me know if it fixes the issue. Otherwise you could be stuck until a patch is released from either windows or BMD.

I still have this happening in Davinci Resolve 17. Removing the in and out points (Alt+I and Alt+O) worked for me.

@@techquad1151 no probs, its not the common recommendation of the resolve team to prompt users updating the OS on their machines, but to stay with stable builds. I have only recently moved off Catalina on MAC as that was BMD's recommended OS for intel MACS. Now Im using a M1 Mac Mini so I on the latest OS as that is what was installed on the machine from factory. I have heard and been sent a number of complaints about bugs in windows with resolve. The down side of resolve is that it is optimised for the MAC platform first, then windows. And I have to say across all of my videos and emails I get from this channel the vast majority of people having issues are on PCs. In saying this I am thinking of moving back to PC as the new macs are not as good as everyone on YT are saying. And I believe in the right to repair and right to upgrade....entirely of point.....maybe roll back your OS if you can and let me know if it fixes the issue. Otherwise you could be stuck until a patch is released from either windows or BMD.
