Honestly I would keep both wild camping and the camper van videos together. Surviving the night, tent or camper. It's all about getting outside and enjoying your best friends and family.

Morning Rosie, hahah yeah we are so excited! I'm sure you know how having Alzheimer's and dementia in our lives and how it's effected our lives. This is one of the reasons I have brought it forward getting the van. We could have waited but why, why not make those memories now with your children and other family members plus its my 50th in June so irs my birthday present haha. Haha. I think id be the same with the cleaning 😄. My aim is to live in one full time. Its good watching different vw videos to get an idea of what i want in mine. Got to say. Im loving that slide out draw under the bed. Be good if it slid inside too. I imagine you could get one on runners to do that. Definitely worth buying one as you'd only regret not getting it. You can go further afield too now, so 1 night in this then a wild camp or its a good thing to chill in and no rush back after a camp.

We don’t use our water tank for drinks mate, just washing up. Lovely van! Looks like a stormtrooper. Nice seat swivel on the double seat. Can I suggest you fit a Chinese diesel heater. Cheap and reliable. Plenty of adventures to go and explore 👍
Hi Garry hope your well pal. Yeah people don't tend to use them for drinking, why is that? We used to drink the water from the tap when I was a kid in our caravan. Thanks mate yeah it's nice in white and I don't mind the decals too, I may change them with time but at the mo I like them. To be honest I'm gonna save for a more expensive quieter one. I believe the Chinese made heaters are very noisy. Big thanks got watching buddy
@@AntSurviveTheNight I think what we find on our T5 is there is always a bit of water in the tank at the end of a trip, ours is fixed in, so impossible to completely empty. You can treat it but why bother, we just get 5l of mineral water from a supermarket. Watch a few vids on diesel heaters, there is no difference in noise between a Chinese one and one costing over a grand. I suggest a channel ‘living the van life’
Ahh right, yeah mine comes out so can empty it. Was all good boiling it, ill run some Milton through it and give it another try without boiling. Ahh right, I've watch a few channels and they said they are considerably louder, I'll do little more research before I make a decision buddy, got plenty of time as I won't be getting one next year. Cracking little camper mate , you've definitely got all mod cons . All the vans and caravans I've had I've never drank the water ran through the system. It probably wouldn't do you any harm but you never know. It's funny really that I'm saying that considering I've drank water that was nearly black in the jungles ( I must be getting old ) . I'm sure you're going to have loads of adventures in the really tidy look van , nice one

Great van. Love your video - such great enthusiasm! I’ve got a T5.1 ( with high mileage) and we love it. I do sterilise my water pipes a fair bit, and because it’s so easy to clean the system ( unlike in our old big Motorhome) have used the water if boiling it, but tbh usually carry separate water for drinking. I’m hoping to put a diesel heater in mine this year, but it’s going to cost as I want a Webasto and given the van value cos of its mileage (150k) it’s a big cost. I have only cooked in the van once and never again on gas inside unless pushed! I smoked the van out! I use an IKEA induction hob now if on hook up though can’t use Ridge monkey on it ( they are bringing out an induction friendly range next year) . I use the ridge Monkey connect if using gas, but outdoors. But do have a fabulous 12 volt Spardar kettle from Amazon that I use all the time. It wasn’t cheap (£49) but is so useful. Wouldn’t be without it. Good look with your van - I can see you’ll have a great time.

Ours is the same milage as yours, I don't think it's that high if I'm honest, if yours is like ours there is so much power when you put your foot down its unbelievable, you can tell its could do double the milage if you look after the engine. Yeah I'm gonna do the same, run the Milton through the system this week and get it cleaned out. I'll definitely use it to drink if boiling it but the majority of people are say bottled water then that's the way I'll go also. Yes, same diesel heater as we what, I got offered one fitted for £900 so something to save for over the spring and summer I reckon. Yeah cooking in the van isn't something we want to do really, we don't want to smell everything up! Lol. Sounds like a decent kettle that too Beth, will give you many a good brew that! I always said if I ever won the lottery (I am an OAP), the first thing I would buy is a camper van, well that was pre Covid as everyone and his dog seemed to buy one them (except us poor pensioners). Good to see you have splashed out mind and it looks a dam fine addition to the family, loving it to be fair, just the size I would want as well. Surprised at only 5 gears mind but if it does the business, fair play. Brilliant walk around and amazing storages and awning, loved that and the raised roof gave so much space and light, as well as a sleeping area. As always, those burgers looked amazing and I always enjoy a game of cards or doms come to that but long time since I have played snap mind. Looked very snug bedding down, although, not that keen on the 'pink' throw but everyone one to their own... Nice free car park there and always wet and muddy, even in summer and the last time Mrs Metalman did a camp was 10 years ago when we camped at a 3 day Space Rock and Blues Festival in Wales and we got 'Wales' weather the whole time were were there (thankfully the festival stages and bar was indoors) but after that experience, she said never again! I hope you all have many happy times in your new van, which I think is superb, cheers Alan PS, loved the drone footage from the steamer and the bloopers lol.
Hi Alan, I know mate, you know what you guys would look so perfect in a camper van I'm not joking, it would really suit you both. Yeah the prices shit through the roof when covid hit, ut was certainly one of the reasons we stepped away. Yeah it's the perfect size which I was concerned about. I said in the video I wanted a LWB but the SWB is more than adequate for our needs and you can park it in a normal parking space haha. Thank you mate, yeah I wanted to show you guys the vehicle in full and Charlie did an awesome job with the camera didn't he. It packed with features and covers all our bases. Haha we were meant to have chips but as you know that didn't work out hahaha 😆. Yeah thankfully we brought cards as there is no reception at all where we parked. It was great time well spent with Charlie. Yeah the car park I remembered from way back and thank goodness I did as there wasn't much in the looks of cover from the road but this spot is ace! Haha yeah that would definitely put my wife off camping for life too Alan, see, with a camper yiu can go to festivals but not sleep in a mud bath after its finished for the night lol. I always giggle when I hear ‘wild camping.’ Considering folks are just sleeping in their vehicles and such. Where I live, even in campgrounds you’re really camping in the wild-as bears may frequent the area along with other predators.

Hi Blackpool, this seems to be the general consensus, is your water bottle one that's permanently attached? I just ask because I have another comment saying theirs was and felt it wasn't totally empty when drained. Cheers for the watch pal, Ant 👍
@@AntSurviveTheNight my campervan has an underslung water tank that you fill from a filler cap on the side of the van , there is also an underslung waste water tank . I do sterilise the tank with milton every couple of months but still dont trust it for drinking , although I have use the water to boil veg I a pan and haven't had any problems with that . Enjoy your van , they open up a whole world of winter camping , but think about having a diesel heater fitted , I just got a cheap chinese one and three years later it's still working fine .
I think time as moved on since I was a kid and we had caravans haha, my dad used to just fill a big plastic water barrel, stick a pipe in it and off went drank 😄. Yeah Andrew was talking about a Chinese diesel heater, I have watched numerous videos saying they are a lot louder and not as reliable?

You’re doing great with the variety and the VW is good for the mix. Summer is Coming. Put “Charlie Breakfast” to work to get a rack for that canoe. Nah… then he won’t be free to camp all summer. We don’t use our water tank for drinks mate, just washing up. Lovely van! Looks like a stormtrooper. Nice seat swivel on the double seat. Can I suggest you fit a Chinese diesel heater. Cheap and reliable. Plenty of adventures to go and explore 👍
Hi Garry hope your well pal. Yeah people don't tend to use them for drinking, why is that? We used to drink the water from the tap when I was a kid in our caravan.

To be honest I'm gonna save for a more expensive quieter one. I believe the Chinese made heaters are very noisy.

@@AntSurviveTheNight I think what we find on our T5 is there is always a bit of water in the tank at the end of a trip, ours is fixed in, so impossible to completely empty. You can treat it but why bother, we just get 5l of mineral water from a supermarket. Watch a few vids on diesel heaters, there is no difference in noise between a Chinese one and one costing over a grand. I suggest a channel ‘living the van life’
Ahh right, yeah mine comes out so can empty it. Was all good boiling it, ill run some Milton through it and give it another try without boiling. Ahh right, I've watch a few channels and they said they are considerably louder, I'll do little more research before I make a decision buddy, got plenty of time as I won't be getting one next year. Cracking little camper mate , you've definitely got all mod cons . All the vans and caravans I've had I've never drank the water ran through the system. It probably wouldn't do you any harm but you never know. It's funny really that I'm saying that considering I've drank water that was nearly black in the jungles ( I must be getting old ) . Great van. Love your video - such great enthusiasm! I’ve got a T5.1 ( with high mileage) and we love it. I do sterilise my water pipes a fair bit, and because it’s so easy to clean the system ( unlike in our old big Motorhome) have used the water if boiling it, but tbh usually carry separate water for drinking. I’m hoping to put a diesel heater in mine this year, but it’s going to cost as I want a Webasto and given the van value cos of its mileage (150k) it’s a big cost.
I have only cooked in the van once and never again on gas inside unless pushed! I smoked the van out! I use an IKEA induction hob now if on hook up though can’t use Ridge monkey on it ( they are bringing out an induction friendly range next year) . I use the ridge Monkey connect if using gas, but outdoors. But do have a fabulous 12 volt Spardar kettle from Amazon that I use all the time. It wasn’t cheap (£49) but is so useful. Wouldn’t be without it. Good look with your van - I can see you’ll have a great time.
Morning Beth, thank you very much for your ace comment! Ours is the same milage as yours, I don't think it's that high if I'm honest, if yours is like ours there is so much power when you put your foot down its unbelievable, you can tell its could do double the milage if you look after the engine.
Yeah I'm gonna do the same, run the Milton through the system this week and get it cleaned out. I'll definitely use it to drink if boiling it but the majority of people are say bottled water then that's the way I'll go also.
Yes, same diesel heater as we what, I got offered one fitted for £900 so something to save for over the spring and summer I reckon.

I always said if I ever won the lottery (I am an OAP), the first thing I would buy is a camper van, well that was pre Covid as everyone and his dog seemed to buy one them (except us poor pensioners). Good to see you have splashed out mind and it looks a dam fine addition to the family, loving it to be fair, just the size I would want as well. Surprised at only 5 gears mind but if it does the business, fair play. Brilliant walk around and amazing storages and awning, loved that and the raised roof gave so much space and light, as well as a sleeping area. As always, those burgers looked amazing and I always enjoy a game of cards or doms come to that but long time since I have played snap mind. Looked very snug bedding down, although, not that keen on the 'pink' throw but everyone one to their own... Nice free car park there and always wet and muddy, even in summer and the last time Mrs Metalman did a camp was 10 years ago when we camped at a 3 day Space Rock and Blues Festival in Wales and we got 'Wales' weather the whole time were were there (thankfully the festival stages and bar was indoors) but after that experience, she said never again! I hope you all have many happy times in your new van, which I think is superb, cheers Alan PS, loved the drone footage from the steamer and the bloopers lol.

Yeah the prices shit through the roof when covid hit, ut was certainly one of the reasons we stepped away.
Yeah it's the perfect size which I was concerned about. I said in the video I wanted a LWB but the SWB is more than adequate for our needs and you can park it in a normal parking space haha.

I always giggle when I hear ‘wild camping.’ Considering folks are just sleeping in their vehicles and such. Where I live, even in campgrounds you’re really camping in the wild-as bears may frequent the area along with other predators.

I just buy the cheap bottled water from lidl for drinking water in the van, I use the tap for washing dishes etc.

@@AntSurviveTheNight my campervan has an underslung water tank that you fill from a filler cap on the side of the van , there is also an underslung waste water tank . I do sterilise the tank with milton every couple of months but still dont trust it for drinking , although I have use the water to boil veg I a pan and haven't had any problems with that . Enjoy your van , they open up a whole world of winter camping , but think about having a diesel heater fitted , I just got a cheap chinese one and three years later it's still working fine .
I think time as moved on since I was a kid and we had caravans haha, my dad used to just fill a big plastic water barrel, stick a pipe in it and off went drank 😄.
