Compared to other kinds of sport burst of anger are pretty tame in Snooker, but given how the sport is so gentlemen like it still stands out. Also the way they get angry reflects that they are basically angry at themselves for not performing up to their own standards rather than being angry at the opponent or the referee. Therefore their anger is directed at themselves not anyone else - with some rare exceptions like being angry at a cell phone going off.
By the way, there are also different kinds of rests in Snooker like the spider that get used in different circumstances. They also have pieces to lengthen their cues if needed.
Ryan, when they take a shot, they’re thinking two and three shots ahead, so while the pink ball was sunk, the Cue ball didn’t line up with the black as he had planned. He lost his turn.
That's not the case thinking multiple shots ahead, you concentrate on shot your taking and position for next shot, if you see a issue (balls grouped together unpottable etc) you might consider a few shots ahead and how you will solve that problem.
But snooker players aren't thinking 3-4 shots ahead, it's thinking I pot this and want to be high low or straight on next shot so as to get back to whatever area of the table for next ball.
Stop saying snucker, it's snooker, think snoopy. ok? Dislikes until you get it right!
or maybe just get over it. you know what he means. you need more things in your life if you are angry about how someone pronounces something.
Look at you getting angry at other dialects existing. His pronunciation is the correct pronunciation in AE. He's not even wrong. Get over it. You make yourself seem like a bellend.
@@karlJCompton is it over the top yeah but why shouldn't he correct him if he pronounces something wrong?
Snucker sounds better.
@@Thor3661you can correct people without losing your shit
It's not just the size of the table, it's the narrowness of the pockets and how sharp the angles the transition to the pockets. Much harder than a pool table. Whacking your cue on the table is really disrespectful when you see how beautifully the tables are made.
And add to that that they also have to consider position of the cue ball. If all they needed was to pocket the ball, it would've been a lot easier.
Pro players put in thousands of hours of practice, so missing a easy shot would be extremely annoying 😊🎱
A full size competitive snooker table weighs about 2500 pounds. You can't move the balls by hitting your head or the cue against the side of it.
The double o in snooker is pronounced more like a u.
Think of it like how you would prounounce boo.
That depends. In AE, it is pronounced the way he's saying it. It's like telling an American to say Darby and Clark for Derby and Clerk. You're correcting someone simply for speaking a different dialect.
@@MellonVegan he pronounces the double o in "pool"correctly though, so its more likely an unfamiliarity with the word than a dialect issue.
Their cues are an extension of themselves... damaging the cue, that you may have played with for a long time.. can be a major set back in your game...
There are several kinds of snooker rest with different end shapes. One of which is called the bridge - others include the cross and the spider.
Ryan,
It’s NOT pronounced snooker as in hooker, but snooker as in blooper.
Cheers.
I love this game! In many of the clips you can cleraly hear the "mishit" on the cueball, it's not that "thump" sound , instead it is a little hollow metallic sound... For me it has allways been after a poor "setup" before the shot, bad use of chalk and sloppy aim. And that can make you pretty... Cursed. And you can't move a Snooker table that easily. The ones thar I used to play on weighed in on 960 kg (2100 pounds-ish)... The surface is a slab of slate and like 1" thick. It is a really, really fun game to play.
And hitting the cuestick in the floor is baaad... The weight inside can move and crack the whole thing.
10:33 No it wasn't. He was too low on points. If he just sank, pink and black he still would have lost the frame (less points than his opponent), so he needed snooker, meaning, he had to provoke the other player to make a mistake (an illegal move) and therefore get some extra points. But when he sent the pink ball into the pocket, the frame was lost for him.
Italian table. Holes are much smaller than American tables
I don't know if it's "Italian table", but it's the table we use in Italy... maybe the name is different, but the holes are much different from American table (the one used to play the famous 9 balls tournament)
If you manage to move the balls on the table by banging your head on the table, this would definitely be the last thing you have to worry about. You would probably have to break your head to get the balls to move. :D
The table is 12 by 6 feet. I have played pool with some of the best, snooker, forgive the pun, totally different ball game. Great reaction, thank you 👍
Yeah, these players can pot any single ball from just about anywhere on the table, but of course, maintaining a break (continual run of balls potted to increase your score) is key to snooker, so a pot and not getting position is as bad missing the pot, particularly at the level the professionals play at. Cheers...
i think the best sport for a punch up is ice hockey, when one team has a Canadian player and the opposition has a French Canadian, but maybe things have changed since I saw hockey on UK TV. Never seen Canadian snooker players get that upset.
I am not an expert but I have played on a real snooker table ("high end")... I don't think you kan move a ball with just slapping the table or giving it a little "head bang" (even a super hard one)
The English language is obviously too difficult for Americans
5:34 I'd say that shot at the black was harder than you think. If you look closely you'd see that there's not a straight line between the white, the black and the hole, meaning that he couldn't just hit the black head on, instead having to hit it slightly off from the centre of the ball just perfectly so that it would roll in a line 1° more to the camera-left for it to go in. But unfortunately he did hit it head on and it thus continued in the straight line that pointed at the shoulder.
Rest and bridge are different the rest is an x tip that allows longer shots no obstacles while the bridge is the same but with obstacles simple
ngl, that caption IN the thumbnail had me intrigued...had to click
Yes you're correct we call that a rest, the only word we use is bridge hand, in snooker.
Why the EU flag? Most of the top players aren't from the EU.
Your saying 'snooker' weirdly...
I would have to say the biggest loser is the snooker player
Ryan how do Americans get snocker out of snooker
It's snoooooker, not snookr .... ooooooooo or in german: Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Snooker is such a wild sport 😂😂😂😂
Not as angry as some feel when you say "snucker".
Snooker rhymes with "bazooka".
Snooker tables weigh in at almost half a ton, so the balls aren't going anywhere unless there's an earthquake!
AE =/= BE
@@MellonVegan 🤣😂
A snooker table weighs over 1T.
Ryan: The oo in snooker sounds like the oo in pool, tool, cool, fool
lol i love the way you say snooker, like snokker...
OOOH.....AHHHH........Naughty boys! 🤣🤣🤣
HIGGINS the rock star of snooker ❤
Snooker pockets are tinyer.
We have 5 model rests 😂😂
It’s snook as is snoop, not snucker
A frame is the whole thing from racking up the balls to them all being potted or someone conceding.
A match is multiple frames played one after another on the same table on the same day, usually denoted by best of X, where X is written between the currenr frame scores at the bottom of the screen(for example at 3:10 you can see it's 2 frames to 3 in a best of 7).
I'm afraid I chuckled when the commentator said "a flustered Ding"
Snooker has multiple aids for the cue stick. The cross is the rest. There's also a bridge. It's for bridging over a ball when the cue ball is right next to one.
It's pronounced snoo ker, not snook er
He knows. He’s doing it to try to annoy us. I’m going to call pool “pull” from now on.
@@thesushifiendAsk any American to pronounce it and that’s how they will say it. They aren’t trying to annoy you. It just sounds better than how u pronounce it
@@Harrison944 he’s done a number of snooker videos now and been corrected in the comments. And after that he pronounced it correctly. And now he’s gone back to his original pronunciation despite hearing the correct version repeated several times in the video he’s reacting to. Therefore I can only conclude that he’s trying to wind us up!
@@thesushifiend Well he probably just forgot. How do you pronounce book, look, took, shook, or a bunch of other words? When there’s a pattern it’s easy for someone to forget the exception
@@Harrison944 how do you pronounce Snoopy? And what about the film Looper?
"Do we play snooker or mad max?" Some truly outrageous and wild reactions. XD
the brigde is rest that you make with your hand, there are three types of rest in snooker (not counting extensions)
This is like watching James Conrad rage in disc golf
Snooker - such a wild game.
Boo, moon, new, two, Luke, snooker!
It does not rhyme with look or book.
In AE it does. Literally every single comment here ignores the fact that dialects exist.
@@MellonVegan AE as in Arab Emirates? You have dialects there because the history is tribal. In UK and Australian English, it’s pronounced the same and rhymes with Luca
Snooker uses rests to steady the cue for a shot.
Snooker as in pool, not tuck.
I'm almost tempted to give a thumbs down to this video because of the way you pronounce snooker. You say it as though the 2nd to the 5th letters are the same as nook. the correct way is the same pronunciation as moo. So, Snoo-ker no snook-er.
