F-19 was the very first flight simulator that I owned. Was a great experience to sneak with the aircraft through the air defences. Never quite cut it that close fuel wise though! Well done.
Love it! I stall have the box and all the contents (5.25" floppy discs!) in excellent condition for the original F-117. So many hours spent on my 286 and CGA monitor back in the late 80s!
Great job on this mission! I love that SAM radar at Liberec. That's from Czech Republic. In 1991 we weren't in NATO yet, so sorry for the trouble. BUT HOW DARE YOU DESTROYING RADAR AT MY HOMETOWM CARLSBAD? >>>:-(
Mind blowing a sim older than OG Doom managed to do dynamic RCS better than sims active now. Microprose annoucned Falcon 5. Maybe we hope for a Gunship 3000 and F-117A II that keeps the Nighthawk and includes the B-1 and B-2? God milsim is missing fantastic bomber. Your editing is fantastic. The orange brackets look outright professional.
I played this game in the 80s 90s and then was assigned to work on the F117A in 1995. What I find funny now is the commentary about how all these radar systems would be detecting the F117A, which if you think about it the radars from the late 80s and early 90s were not set up for detecting low observables....that was something that really didn't become a thing until the late 90s...even then they had to get a lucky shot like Serbia did in 99' because the F117A opened it's weapons bay to drop its payload. Either way these mission planning stages were completely bogus compared to the real world. Then there was the payload screen with sidewinders (Aim 9), AMRAAM (Aim 120), and HARM (AGM 88) missiles hahaha. For one thing, the F117A didn't have a radar system so could not carry AMRAAMs to get an initial lock on, same for the HARM which most fighters of today don't have the software and computers to carry either. The sidewinders were a bit of a stretch in that the F117A was declared a fighter for the sole reason it shot one during a test run so that the USAF could declare it as a fighter and not violate international treaties with Moscow over how many different types of bombers we had in our inventory. Once the F117A became operations the F111 went away even though it was one of our sole combat-proven low-level long-range attack bombers. The B1 wasn't really operation and combat proven and the B2 was still in production and the B52 was way too slow to face enemy air defenses and was being used in the nuclear deterrence role for the most part anyway. I sure had some old memories come up when seeing that first main menu screen though, like I was back playing it again...thanks for the video.
How is it that i was talking to my brother about this game today when we used to play it in the 90s, thought i'd check out some gameplay and i don't find ancient bad footage but a video from literally 1 day ago! Thanks, might have to play some myself again :)
That wasn't their F-19 model. If you pause it's a traditional profile. Probably F-15 due to its twin tail. If I recall correctly, the unrealistic F-19 does not appear in F-117 2.0.
Thats pretty cool, I like the stealth detection meter and radar avoidance. Never even knew of this game but it looks familiar as well. I think my cousin had FA-18, while I had A-10 Cuba.
@@RedKiteRender It does indeed, nothing super realistic of course but a physics engine with aerodynamics at all was impressive for the time I thought. Not sure how hard it would be to get it running on modern computers, but worth a try for sure.
Great mission! Do like the F117 video, I have the game, and like you played it years ago when it came out, just recently picked it back up again. Good fun even is the graphics are a bit antiquated by today's standards... Thanks for sharing with us!!!!
Hey Kite, great video. I do want to ask, how did you increase the CPU rate on the DOSbox? I was having some trouble with it crashing last night and I hope that will help, thanks.
Central Europe isn't that hard. Try North Cape. You will have 5 enemy planes swarming and 7 radars shooting missiles at you all at the same time. If you can pull that off, with realistic landing, you will get the CMoH medal.
With these old games framerate dictates the realtime speed of the game too, so it's important to get that about 'right' for controllability's sake. Otherwise the game can play in fast forward or be uncontrollable. Even if we're only talking a handful of frames a second compared to modern games!
I just saw 2 things we need in DCS... the F-117 and a Fulda Gap map :D
I remember playing this late nights back in the 90's, good times.
Oh! I miss the immersion of those base/mission selection screens. Thanks for the memories!
Perhaps SuperCarrier will give us some of that if it ever receives another update!
Mate, you have no idea how happy this video made me. So many good memories from when I was a kid!! Thank you.

brings back childhood memories

Hope the good 2nd Lt got a medal for that run! Nice shot of nostalgia into my veins.
This was one of my fav games back in the day.
I was hoping for another video on this. Thanks!
Aw man, I wanted to see what medal or promotion you earned! Great video, thanks for the memories.

=D
This brings back memories!
The uniform element of these games was the best.

Played the shit out of this back in the day. Great vid!

Fully recommend it, haven't seen a modern game like it.

Mid-ish 90's gold!
Have a copy of Strike Eagle III ? That, or Advanced Tactical Fighters were the gold standard back in the day.
I wish he'll show us the 117 in ATF and USAF as well
Decoys! Saving stealth pilots since 1991!!!
An elegant simulator for a more civilized age....
It’s funny seeing this still being played.

I really want to try out A-10 Cuba some time, had some pretty advanced phys for the time.

Decrease / increase cpu cycles with with Ctrl - F11 and Ctrl - F12
@@RedKiteRender thank you
i have hundreds of hours in this game im nowhere this good!
Promotion/medal screen?
No flaps while flying low and slow?
Аз играя на ветерани и реалистично кацане и пак съм на най - голяма трудност. Последната ми мисия беше към 1270 точки и CMH Award.
You bastard, you invade Poland ;) Somehow in old days I prefer F-19 more then F-117. Even F-117 had better almost everything.

I played this
Please play falcon 3.0 plsplspls :c
Drop in frame rate? lol

Oh how I wish they would do a modern version of this. Come on new Microprose.
