      Nay, ye're not alone.
This happens every week to me for the last 12 months. Company owner refuses to hire more workers. Way more clients now than before. Expected to work 60+ hours, but the new owner is unwilling to pay for more than 40 hours of work. Managers hope we magically finish everything on time and are incapable to look at the big picture - i.e. they are not managing, just distributing work to everyone. No recognition for ownership or support.

4:13 Option B does not always work. A lot of companies dismiss burnout as something a little time off can fix. In addition even if your manager helps you prioritize your projects, ultimately he won’t be able to control the influx of workload and overall business needs. If employees feel burned out, there is clearly something wrong with senior leadership and how the company is being run. Thus, in some cases quitting your job would be the best option. Listen to your body and your intuition. You know what is best for YOU!

I'm a 20 year old college student and I'm suffering from burnout from last 6 months. I think the most effective cure of burnout is 'time'. Just do what feels like doable otherwise relax and stay still with patience practicing the preventions. And the cause of burnout to me was studying for prolonged hours during night for several weeks.

I am too a 21 year old college student, and currently suffering from burnout. I do agree that the effective cure of burnout is time.
When a typhoon hits us here in our place in our whole province rendering our social connection unavailable and useless and electricity coming back for at most 2 weeks (in our city's case), it makes us college students unable to enjoy the whole month of january sembreak since we used that time to comply the remaining requirements that should've been done on december. That worsened my situation about having a burnout and made me exhausted and it still is happening to me at my current semester. Not to mention I caught colds easily and have prolonged coughs now which made me feel even worse as I need my body and health right now to survive.
But since I don't have any choice but to adapt to this situation I made a habit of sleeping before 12 am to reset my mind and body and honestly it kinda works for a week now.

I agree with you regarding A. Burn-out is sometimes due to the bad task allocation and the unclear job responsibility defined by the high-level management. But most employers never think they need to improve. If someone is burned out, they regard the person as incompetent, inefficient or vulnerable. They never make reflection whether there is something wrong with themselves. So leave their “flawless” management system is a better decision.

Same here. I’ve been out of it and can’t bro g myself to do the things I enjoy anymore. My grades are horrible now too and doing anything feels exhausting. I’ve decided that as long as I keep pushing against what my brain wants and exhausting myself, I won’t get anywhere. So I’m telling myself to stop thinking and doing things. No more coding, drawing, homework, or anything that even slightly pushes me. I don’t want it to get any worse than it is so I just do what I know my brain finds relaxing in chilling in bed watching RUclips and browsing forums and lifting weights. I overthink a lot so to stop that I’ve been talking to myself out loud to drown out the thoughts. Not yelling, just loud enough so I can hear myself, whispering is the same thing as thinking for me so I’m not too quiet neither.

  • @ericneo2

This is a case where the text book theory doesn't match real life.
Tried B and ended up worked into a hospital bed and suffering empathy fatigue. A year later nothing had changed and my workload had just kept increasing to the point where I was doing the work of 4 people who had left and my own. As others have said if you are experiencing burnout there is something wrong with leadership and how the company is being run.
Choose A and get out, because once you lose you health or end up in hospital bed, recovery becomes significantly harder.

I've never really had burnout. But now i'm a senior in high school and feel it. So badly. I'm exhausted. I'm having extreme burnout to the point where on weekends, i can't enjoy it and during the week I'm still burnt out. I relax on the weekends but it isn't going away.
The stress of applying for college, turning stuff in, keeping my grades up, being the weird loner kid no one talks too adds to the stress. I've made all As and Bs this year so far but a huge thing is seeing people at school with friends but no matter how hard I try i just can't make friends.
I get ignored. I can't complain because i'm not being bullied but it still hurts.
I'm exhausted. i can't go to therapy because my family and I just can't afford it. I'm thinking of trying stress meds.

Middle of my second full year in the workforce and I feel incredibly burnt out. I find no enjoyment at work anymore, and find myself increasingly irritable, frustrated, tired with work and at the end of the day when I am lying bed feel incredibly alone, anxious, tired and sad. I sit alone at night and talk under my breath as if I am explaining how I feel to someone, whether it’s a friend or therapist, but I couldn’t think of bringing this all up to someone for the fear of burdening them with my problems. I feel that I have been a “high achiever” my entire life, with the only professional feedback I have ever received being that I should “ask for help” instead of trying to solve every client issue/question myself, although I feel that when I do actually ask a question it’s just pushed aside. I want to just stop caring so fucking much but I physically cannot let myself slide, I need to be a “high achiever”. I don’t feel the same joy that I used to, whether it’s with my work, or the things I used to do outside of work. Simply at a loss. As I write this comment I laugh at where I am in my life, up in the middle of the night writing aimlessly on a fucking RUclips video all while feeling helpless and miserable.

Just wanted to share this because I'm muslim and I've been wanting to do this but haven't done it because I have bad sleeping patterns and time management.

@@Tlag78 Hi, sorry for the late reply. How are you? I hope you have enough sleep and are eating well. This helps a lot in just regulating your day to day and helping your body get the rest it needs so your mind is less stressed out unconsciously.
What are your current average marks? I know exam season can be super super stressful. Especially when you thinknyou have to meet people's high expectations of you and you don't want to let them down.
It's really ok to let it out when you need it. Just take two hours out of your week, maybe in the early morning or evening on a weekend to just walk in nature. Let your mind rest, studies do show that being in nature (grassy fields, tree forest, rivers, etc.) helps reduce stress levels and allows you calm down and freshens the mind. If you have enough sleep and food, try that for starters, if you can find a bit of time in your busy week. Think of it as recharging. A device can't work properly if it's always in low battery mode.
When it's quiet, and when there's no one around, you can immerse yourself in your thoughts and feelings, to process everything and to slowly let it go. Sometimes we are too quick to suppress or get rid of heavy emotions when we strive for productivity. But it is good to understand where your stress is coming from and why you feel that way. Once you understand the pain you're feeling, it makes it easier to recognise. You're familiar with the pain, and you know that it is ok to feel it, and let it go. Let it go, because keeping negative feelings in usually makes things worse for yourself. Stress can be a chronic killer, so learn to manage your emotions and stress slowly. You can get the hang of it, in due time. :)
If you don't prefer walking in nature, you can try playing one sport a week, like football/soccer? Just let the energy out somehow. Sometimes being sedentary for too long can build stress inside of you, especially if you're forced to focus on studying every day.
I hope you can try these steps first. You can report back here if you see any positive changes in yourself or otherwise.

I'm about to finish med school very soon and it's incredible stressful. I've never believed that I'd be at this point, but I've been reaching complete exhaustion. I know that the next two months will be very hard but there is only so much I can do about that.
Daily physical exercises, socialising with loved ones and meditation surround my studying whenever I can. I also have plans to go to a festival and do a roadtrip straight after I'm done with my state exam. Sometimes that's literally the only thing that keeps me going.
Whatever is going on in your life at the moment, it's important to know: communication is key, you CAN do it -> everything is possible. Lastly it will end: the world always is dynamic and things will change for the better. Just believe in that. You got this 💪

Living a healthy lifestyle is different from one person to another. Be careful not to take what others say as the ultimate truth and force yourself to do it. I am autistic and my job is physically demanding, so even socializing draining for me. I want to be able to do things after work, and on my days off. This is starting to trigger my depression because I find myself asking people, "Is this all life is? Working and then not being able to do anything after work?" Socializing is totally draining to me, because normal functioning people don't understand me, and they often invalidate my feelings; and often assume that I don't focus on my health and nutrition, because they can't accept the fact that I find my job exhausting. I often wonder if I can survive in the workforce in today's world where they have as little staff on as possible, and you therefore have more than one job position (where business owners constantly tell you that it should only take 5 minutes to clean a bathroom, or 5 minutes to clean 22 window panes front and back, and many more things on the list. I am so burned out that I do absolutely nothing on my first day off and don't go anywhere. It is only when I get near the end of my second day off that I finally have the energy to do household chores that needed doing, and then back to work the next day. Been hoping to work for myself one day selling my art. I almost have a painting done, after a good 200 hours. Going to make prints of it and hopefully they will sell, and hoping that this will all work out 🙏.

Hi Cecilia! I am not a psychologist, I am a Coach. Here are my suggestions to you: You have a lot going on and you need to FIRST: Set your priorities. What is most important to you!! From what you wrote, it's your kids, school and you. (Yes, YOU need to be part of your list of priorities, because if you do not take care of you, nothing else will happen). SECOND: You need to set clear boundaries ( What are you willing to accept from others and what are you not willing to accept) and commit to your boundaries. THIRD: Write a clear plan and actions to get where you want to be. If your plan is to have your place with your kids and finish school, then make a plan (How much money you need to save to do this? How can I contribute to others and get closure to my goal? Sometimes schools offer support in these kind of situation, ask them,....make a list of all the possibilities that will lead to your success). And take actions toward it. Hope that helps you!!

Working less hours, taking more breaks, etc... American companies LOVE this! 🤣 They'll say, "adios!" and show you the door

Ok I paused to type this.
Work less hours & take more breaks
Maybe I just have really bad luck with jobs or something buuut pretty sure that’s not gonna just work that way. Almost all the places I’ve worked in my life if you decide to take a short break not on the set times you are in trouble or threatened to be sent home, or fired on the extreme side.
Also some places have mandatory overtime and working less hours usually is a problem too, not to mention still gotta make ends meet and preferably a little more so you can save and put towards other goals like moving from an apartment to putting a down payment on a house.

I was feeling bored so I watched a show for a while a few weeks ago and then I just got tired of it and didn’t care for it anymore and just watched the movies and then I finished them and went to video games but soon found out that I got bored on it after a little while and started to get worse at the game instead of how I used to be and now I’m tired of college and don’t enjoy talking to friends or doing the thing I worked so hard for

Well if I’m expierencing this, then it’s gotten so bad that I’ve developed social anxiety as well. I don’t even want to talk to my friends as much anymore. And I get very nervous when talking to other people.

Senior in highschool and I have missed the past 6 weeks of school, I always feel drained even by sitting down and watching a movie I lose all my energy and I absolutely have no motivation to do anything anymore. I think my brain not being fully developed has caused my burnout to be worse as before I even got into highschool I could go to school everyday no problem and enjoy it, now I get mentally drained even thinking about school. I think I just over did it when I was severely stressed out, last year I felt the same way but I managed to fight through it and do my school work everyday for the entire year, in the long run I think thats why my burnout is worse than ever. I'm not a lazy person I normally can't stand doing nothing all day but idk the thought of sitting in a classroom or doing something even somewhat stressing makes me feel mentally exhausted. Anyone have any advice for someone thats still in highschool and is at the point where he gets mentally and physically drained just by watching TV?

burnout is part of the essential system, it becomes expensive to keep employees for long periods of time, and the longer they stick around for they start wanting things like benefits or stovk. burn them out before they're 40. also suicides are at an all time high, weird right?
