Hi Kevin! Great video as always, and the monitor is really awesome. Thanks for sharing this because I’ve been eyeing this for weeks now. But the other thing that I noticed is how great your talking head video is! The lighting and the skintone is on point, kapatid! How did you do it? Super nice! Keep your videos coming Kevin, we’re watching here from the Philippines! Salamat!
Dang this was a great review! It's crazy that you made a video about this monitor because I am currently looking at getting one for that camera control feature!
How does the wireless control on this monitor compare to the Red Control app? Recently I've been having major issues with the app when using it during events where there are tons of people with cellphones and devices that cause wifi interference. The signal drops constantly and the app will disconnect from the Komodo all of a sudden. I've got the latest version of the app and Komodo firmware as well. So I'm worried about similar wifi issues happening with this monitor. Is it possible to control the Komodo via the camera control cable option or can it only do it wirelessly?
hi there, i'm trying to use the False Color feature on the BM5WR (and not the false color on my BMPCC4K), But the color chart showing the IRE is Not showing up. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
I am experiencing problems with image on monitor of bmwr5 and even hooked up SDI cable as it says in other tutorials. Customer service said hdmi cable lol. Can you help please?
thanks for the video. is it true that you can fry your monitor if you connect it to the same V-mount batter that you're connecting your camera to? i'm using the powerbase edge V-mount battery, which has 2 d-tap ports, I'm currently using one charging my BMPCC 4k and the other available d-tap port, I would like to charge this BM5WR with, but i've heard where people are saying that it can fry the monitor. what are you thoughts? thanks in advance.
That’s a little ridiculous for a camera of this price; are you able to connect the monitor to a v mount plate d-tap without risk of frying the monitor?
curious that you didn't get into the colour reproduction at all? I also got this monitor for a very specific use case. It was the only bright, 5(ish) inch monitor with HDMI in and SDI out. I find the colour to be pretty awful though - to the point where I would consider it unusable if there is an alternative for your use case. Just my 2c.
I had to return this because of the focus peaking. It was so strong even at 1. Even things that weren't really in focus were showing some red. Also i think it was the noise was peaking because things in shadows would have some bouncing around red peaking. Have you noticed any of this? Maybe I had a faulty unit
If you are going to buy one monitor, I would avoid the BM5. The lag is atrocious, it felt like the monitor image was .5 seconds behind the camera even with a 12g SDI cable. I do a lot of quick handheld movements and found the lag quite hard to compensate for. If you have the money, buy a small HD.
Great video Kev! Looks like a nice compact monitor. Also liked how you showed your rigs that your build it on. 🙌
Thanks Griff!

Would you still reccomend this monitor?

Kevin is that the Tilta baseplate at 5:00? Looking for a good lock down option for PL mount adapter (Metabones). Thank you! Thoughts on best option?
This moody lighting is money
Thanks Brandon!!
You can power it with v mount?
Do you have the snapshot and overlay function like on a smallHD? For my work, it's critical...

Small hd had a built in teradek? So what is all needed to use teradek with the built in teradek small hd?

Good call, I didn’t notice a slight cool tint to the colors, but definitely worth looking at closer
Are you able to connect your BM5 WR to your Komodo after upgrading Komodo to 1.6.4? I'm having trouble
Hmm I haven’t updated just yet, but I’ll let you know once I do!
Please update the BM5WR firmware to the latest version 【BM5WR_13_41_C18_B21】.

What you end up using instead?
@@TimandLauren I was able to fix my smallhd Focus 5 for my A cam but I also bought a Feelworld LUT6 and really like it
That’s funny there’s reviews for this monitor on B&H that say the exact opposite, that the focus peaking wasn’t strong enough

What a rubbish! It is not the monitor, it's you doing something wrong.
This the worst monitor I've used, but I only rented it and I think it has a faulty sdi able.
why do you think this is the worst monitor?
