Hi Tom! Please help me out. Can you shoot at 4k 60fps 10 bit/hdr with switching between all the rear lenses or is it just a feature for the iphone 15 pro? I know about the google pixel 7 and 7 pro could do it in 4k 60p 8bit with lens switching but not in hdr or 10 bit. Can the new google pixel 8 pro do it and also the s24 ultra and s24 range like the newest pro iphones? And is the new s24 ultras screen 10bit, couse ive read only the iphones had 10 bit displays, neither the pixel 8 and 8 pro. Which is true from these all? Thanks in advance!
Hi Tom, just would like to point out that @8:58 Sony Xperia 1V was the first phone to have 4K HDR 120fps (and is still the only phone that can play it back in native resolution).
its not the first time on a smart phone at all the Sony Xperias have been doing it alot of chinese phones have been doing it my Nubia z60ultra does 4k 120hz
Selfie camera noticably better. Less blown out and seems to do a much better job overall with the light. Also the microphone seems better at picking up the sound.
Ikr, it's quite detailed too. The s24U seems to generally be less exposed and more balanced so that's nice to see. Love the portrait shots & lowlight too
You will realise the Samsung selfie is poor. When you compare it to a better selfie camera phone iPhone 15. On Samsung removes the reds and makes you more yellow and sickly.
@tmifb9926 It really doesn't look poor like AT ALL and most of us don't really care about iPhones anyway bc we're not in the market for one. The day I get locked on iOS is the day I become a flying witch or something. So probably never.
I've placed an order for the S24 Ultra 512GB; this will be my first Samsung device since the S7 Edge in 2015. Since then, I've used the Nexus 6P, OnePlus 5, 7 Pro and 9ro till now. Recently, I decided to leave OnePlus because they have been banned from Germany due to a patent conflict with Nokia. I briefly owned the Pixel 8 Pro but returned it due to poor battery performance. After nearly 9 years, I am thrilled to be getting my hands on a Samsung phone again. I appreciate the freedom Android offers.
Haha same here, I'm fully happy with Huawei but due to the Google service restrictions I'm now pending between the Glaxy S24+/ultra or the dark side: Iphone 15 pro 😂 I wish that they just release the S24+ with SD8 and don't force us to buy the ultra for it, at least in Germany...
I've had my Galaxy S20 since release. No scratches, niches, or cracks (probably thanks to the Slim Otterbox case). Battery life still going strong. I've had no reason to upgrade until now. I'm in love with the new the design. Really like the flat trim to trim glass design. It is very aesthetic. I'm also excited to try the new cameras with the new AI technology. I've probably taken thousands of photos for drawing references with my S20, so upgraded camera is huge plus for me.
yes, even when I went to get a hands on here at Samsung Opera House, I felt it was less vibrant even compared to my s21 fe..i was checking whether vivid mode was on or off, but now I know it for sure atleast😅
I pre ordered the unlocked 1tb titanium black. I'm still using my S21 Ultra 512 because I didn't feel the 22 and 23 were a big enough upgrade. After working as a tech in the mobile phone industry for almost 30 years I have become rather jaded with the new "upgrades" coming out every year.
I hear you. The "upgrades" are usually almost impossible to even notice in real world. I have the S22+ and was fine with it until I tripped on a cobblestone Boston street last week, phone went flying and managed to crack upper right corner of screen even with case on. So did research and pre ordered S24 Ultra black. Was a little concerned about it being too big and I'm not a huge fan of the squared off sharp corners, but held S23 Ultra and didn't seem overly huge, and hopefully a case will smooth out those sharp right angle corners.
i am in the other camp i always thought the flat screens looked better and more slick then any of the curved screens on phones from a pure ascetic stand point
Coming from the old Note 20 ultra i am excited for this upgrade. Looks like a great phone! Ive read online that the battery on the s24 ultra is way better too!! Even lasts longer than the latest iPhones! Im excited!
@@Gurenn83 awesome yes I'm assuming so for sure. I generally loved the note 20 ultra except the battery life wasn't as good as it could be and it's sometimes slugging and not as bright outdoors when im driving (use it often for gps). So yeah hence I'm REALLY looking forward to the S24 utlra. I almost at one point was gonna go for s23 ultra but now I'm REALLY glad I waited to get an even much BETTER and IMPROVED S model. Yay!
Yeah my note 20 ultra is shot, have to charge a specific way, is broke because otterbox sucks... phone is strong, but starting to feel dated... paid off what I owed on it and upgraded, super excited
I have a question about the anti-reflective screen on the S24 Ultra. If I want to use a screen protector on it, is it still less reflective or does it lose that advantage?
I ordered the S4 ultra in titanium violent 💜 which arrives on Wednesday. I felt it was worth the upgrade for me as I'm upgrading from the S20 ultra. So far I'm impressed and I feel that I'll be very happy with this phone. I have reasonable expectations of its capabilities so don't think I'll be disappointed.
Looks like a decent device with a few nice upgrades. I obviously won't be upgrading from my S23 Ultra, especially as most of the AI features are supposed to be coming to it, but for someone with a 2 or 3 year old phone it's worth considering
@@michaelbmw1931 s 23 is NOT the same dweeb, your the one whose brainwashing into keeping old products cuz ur too POOR to buy the new ones The s24 has a better selfie camera Can zoom in and out of 4k 60fps video Better battery life Better display NO REFLECTIVE SCREEN flat screen Better chip Better CPU Better audio 0 SHUTTER LAG like come on dude I could go on and on why the s24 a worthy upgrade to the 23 broke 🤡 next 😈💅
@00:29 The bottom bezel on the S24U is skimmer but I can't tell if the rest are as well. At the intro, it looked like the side bezels were thinner on the S23U.
7:58 Fun fact, the S23 Ultra can crop 2x into the 200MP sensor to sort of provide a virtual 2x optical zoom, and yes, that works even when recording in 4K 60fps. So that makes zooming in in 4K60 quite more usable.
One of the fascinating feature of Galaxy is Audio zoom when recording a video. It feels dramatic and magical when you zoom in and it picks the audio from that source !
I have the S21 Ultra. My only ... only issue is the curve screen. A dome glass and a otterbox doesn't prevent the screen from getting cracked on minor drops. I dropped it on tile floor ~4 ft drop. Have a dark crack along the bottom corner of the S21 ultra.
My Galaxy S21 Ultra has always had a Supcase UB Pro case. I've dropped it several times/year! No damage ever! Best phone and case combo! I've ordered (2) new cases for my Galaxy S24 Ultra in Jade Green. (1) case is a darker Guldan color and (1) is crystal clear (to show off the exclusive color). Check them out! 😉👌
My S24U arrives today. A lot seems to be made of the RRP but I've never seen Samsung sell anything at RRP. We got two S24U for £1650 total after trading in two old phones and applying all the discounts. For that money, for a 7 year phone, it's a no brainer.
The one thing that stood out to me in this video is, my goodness, that Guinness looks damn amazing. What a perfect pour that is. Man I miss Europe and Asia -- yes even Asia had outstanding Guinness (specifically Japan). Here in the states, it's just not the same. Great video, Tom. This was a helpful comparison with the old phone.
Excellent video. Thanks for the detail. Never liked curved screens so I've made the jump. The pre order price in the UK was good or at least I thought it was. £600 for the s23 ultra. Free watch 6 and strap. Free case and screen protector and another £50 off. So £411 for the 512gb version.
@@harshavardhansingh9936 you had to pre register for the launch event. They emailed a code £50 off, free case and screen protector. If you go to Hotukdeals and search for s24 ultra you might find someone giving one away they don't want
@harshavardhansingh9936 they were only available with the discount codes (the £50 ones if you signed for it beforehand). I got the same. They had really good discounts this year to be honest (UK)
Thanks so much for the video. With all do respect, when you were using the phones front facing camera and stated that you could not see much of a difference, I was very surprised, because the difference is visible especially when you heard the bell ring and moved the phone towards the bell tower. The photo/ video of S24 Ultra is much more clean, crisp, clear and the lines of the object(s) are more detailed, visible and more defined, and just in case anyone claims I am biased I own an iPhone 15 pro.
Well he was dual wielding phones while actually turning in that moment. Note that the comment about not seeing the differences was real time while he was looking at 2 (small) screens and Big Ben at the same time lol. I'm sure he like everyone else noticed the difference in post
I've gone from the S10+ to the S24 Ultra. I love my S10+ a lot, it's mainly due to the security updates stopping that ive finally had to upgrade but I'm looking forward to it !
My observations are: selfie camera is better it's not blown out. The 5x is a lot better than the 10x that we have before not overexposed and not shaky when zooming in. And the zooming in and out on 4k60 is super smooth! The shutter lag is gone now, and I love the 4k120 option finally a better slow motion!! Also it helps shooting outdoors with a 2600 peak brightness and the anti reflective coating on the glass! And its a lot better editing now with the flat display. We can also do a dual recording on the back camera which wasn't show BTW and not just the directors view which is front and back. Only people who will say that nothing changed is the people who thinks a newer look is CHANGE. Lol. The phone already looks amazing it's what's under the hood that's Important.
Yes, agree. When zooming in on the clock in video mode you can see much better the stabilization is on the S24, S23 much shaker. I have a S22 U & always note it's difficult to keep the camera steady when zooming way in. The S24 seems to improve greatly. And my biggest complaint about S22 is the camera over exposes photos, esp. at night and this seems to have much better color and doesn't brighten as much, (even if video is against S23 U). Between camera updates, brighter less reflective screen, more durable titanium frame, it seems like a good update. Also, the processor seems like a big leap not many are talking about. Seems like it can finally go toe to toe with Apple & even out speeds in some real life usage videos I see. Not to mention big improvement in battery life & efficiency which should improve in a week or so. I only hope the speaker has improved as well. But I'm pre-ordering an S24, looking forward to it. Sick of all the S23 users bitching, phones are incremental updates now.
The 5X definitely seems more capable than the previous 10x on S23U. I was also very impressed at the zooming in with no shaking. Honestly it's quite wild how good phones got these days with their camera. For everyday stuff and even amateur this is perfect
@@77surefire I'm an s23 ultra user and I can see all the s23 ultra users complaining lol they don't realize that this is a huge upgrade lol. The new titanium frame, the flat display, the smaller selfie ring, the 2600 peak brightness, the anti reflective coating, the better microphone, better battery life, newer and more powerful/efficient chip, faster read/write speed, the newer isp, the 5x lens that can take portrait photos as opposed to the old 10x lens, the 5x is more stable, less shaky, not so noisy, can shoot 8k and portrait mode which the old 10x does not. The 4k120 for slow motion, the ai features like call assist, filling in crops, removing and moving people etc. And a lot more! And it's just the pre release software! It's a huge upgrade the problem is the reviewers aren't doing a better job reviewing. I research a lot and watch a lot of reviews and most of them are heavy on apple.
Yea I often use the S-Pen to Edit Photos in Lightroom and always have to turn the phone or zoom out if I edit on the edge of the Picture/Phone Screen :P
It does seem smooth, especially during video zoom transition, finally. I'm hoping with any of these phones that you can reduce the processing and get more natural images, or at least get proper raw files
I love Android, especially Samsung. I've been considering getting a new phone, but there's a complete deal breaker for me: I've never been able to get voice commands to work using the Gboard keyboard. Since I dislike the other keyboards available on Android, I don't really have a solution. I've always stuck with iPhone because of this issue. The voice command on iPhone may not be the best-neither as fast nor as effective as on Android-but at least it works. If anyone has a solution that works, I'd be ready to switch back to Android, because the Galaxy S24 Ultra is really tempting me. The only Android phone where I find that voice commands work right out of the box is on Google's Pixels. The problem is that I don't necessarily want a Pixel; I generally prefer Samsung, especially their high-end models. It not only allows me to write much faster to many different people, but I am also disabled, so it's much less exhausting for me to speak than to type long texts by hand
Well, I'm currently using a Note 20 Ultra and after watching this video I'm convinced that the S24 is my next phone, whenever I'm planning to change. The Note is still super fast and fluid and is showing no signs of ageing so I'm gonna stick with it for another year or two. But the S24 seems like a huge upgrade over the Note, especially when it comes to zoom shots. Man, those zoom shots are simply the best in the entire mobile phone industry! But for someone who is using an S23, they should probably wait for the S25 or something.
Someone who’s using S22 or S23 should still be good. Most of these yearly updates are incremental. The Note 20 Ultra will only get security patches until some time in 2025. Right now, the trade-in deal is really enticing: $600 trade-in, discounted price, free storage upgrade, and $150 credit. Even though I will miss the SD card slot, 512GB will be enough for a while. Also, my battery doesn’t seem great. Switching over from 4500 mAh battery to the S24 Ultra 5,000 mAh will extend my use.
I'm currently using n20u too. It's still very good but the camera is poor compare to the newest model. I just pre ordered the s24u. But definitely won't get rid of my beloved n20u. I will be using this as my 2nd phone.
I'm on the s22 ultra and I've been waiting for an upgrade with a flat screen, so this looks nice. I pre ordered with Samsung and they are giving me $850 for a trade in value, which is almost half off, so it's an easy choice for me.
Mine just arrived today after reverting back to slabs from the z fold series. And im happier to have a great camera once again. Can't see much different to my friends s23 ultra, some AI features will see how much I use those. But so happy to say goodbye to my zfold and it's screen protector nightmare for a phone which feels premium and durable.
Great Show! My S21 seems every bit as goof for my use. I however would like to upgrade and get the slightly larger screen. I cannot get AT&T to ship the phone to my PO BOX and Best Buy cannot lock in my trade in value. So the real JOY of my S21 continues.
In the shutter speed test scene optimizer is on for the s23u, while it's off on the s24u. Apparently that's one of the things that makes the shutter speed slower. I think for a fair comparison they should be both set to on.
Amazing and thorough video as always - basically all you need to know in order to decide whether or not to buy. Thank you! Looking forward for the next ones to come.
Any thoughts on Vivid mode not working? Settings-->Display-->Screen Mode-->Vivid isn't doing anything. It's just Natural (even when vivid is selected), and most people switch from Natural when they get their Samsung phone.
I know some folks are disappointed but as a iPhone 15 pro max user I’m pretty impressed. Honestly I’ll never switch to Android, but this is killer. I love the AI features. Apple better show out big with AI this year. The camera features look pretty cool. I still think raw camera performance is still going to the iPhone, but I like what Samsung is trying to do. Outside of first party feature Google or Samsung features, I don’t care for android. But, this is pretty slick.
I was the same as you but ever since i switched to Samsung. I forgot about apple. This phone is much better and the features are beyond what apple could achieve
@@Milu2786 I’ve flirted with Samsung for a lot of years. Had the S3 back in the day. Multiple notes. Even had the S10 and s23 ultra as second phones. I’ve always given them a fair shake. But the upsides in the first party apps don’t make up for the downsides. I’m deep in the Apple ecosystem. Use multiple M powered devices at home. If I was to use a second phone maybe but since I’ve gone down to one phone for both work and business, it will always be an iPhone.
business user + apple ecosystem, yes apple is your great choice indeed, but for a nerd or your typical user android is much better indeed@@TheSonyExperience
Throughout the video, I can see an on screen "tab" on your s24 ultra, right next to the volume button. Is this an edge panel tab? I hope so because that was an awesome feature on the galaxy phones. I was under the impression that the edge panels went away with the curved screen.
If ever S23 Ultra later gets many of the AI functions that the s24 has then i don't really see any point to upgrade from an S23 Ultra. It's still a great mobile.
Best thing i done was change from s21 ultra to s23 ultra based on getting a snapdragon and 512gig ... no regrets at all its been and is fantastic but i now feel my 23 ultra is a keeper for 4 years as these jumps in technology arent big enough, we have peaked imo
@BladeV8 yeah I'm from Scotland, I changed from 21 ultra to 23 ultra last year and no regrets, it's very very snappy and battery has been fantastic.. all down to ditching the exynos
@BladeV8 I think once most people have a 23 or 24 ultra in the UK they won't need another phone for 4 years plus, hope you enjoy which ever one you go for
That 5x zoom is doing pretty well. And the processing seems good. I'm really tempted because it's 100% flat now (i'm on S22U) and the chin bezel is finally symmetrical with the others. Also, it seems they copied iPhone AOD but made it even better. Would be nice if you could cover that since i saw it on a Korean review.
Amazing review mr chap using my s24 ultra right now i got the titanium violet colour which is the most gorgeous one out there but so far the phone is a beast for me samsung did an amazing job on the anti reflective glass and yet the display looks good the oled technology on this phone is amazing and the colors are tuned up very well samsung makes one of the most fastest android smartphones in the market and yet the s24 ultra is yet the fastest out there the cameras for me are just like dslr quality the pictures turned to be beautiful and yet crispy overall great phone and solid 10/10 for me
Believe it or not, the best upgrade for me is the flat screen! Got 22 u atm but considering changing, altho i love this one still. Maybe 1 more year, they def gonna keep the flat screen, its just make so much more sense with a pen. Dont know why it take 2 years to notice!
Given the camera lenses are the same (apart from the 5x and 10x lens swap), I would imagine the One UI 6.1 update on the S23 Ultra will make the cameras the same, there is no reason for them to be any different. 4K 60 lens switching likely won't come to the S23 Ultra either.
How much of a difference is it between the S24 Ultra and the S24+ when it comes to camera features? Not really interested in the Stylus at all, but the camera on the Ultra looks insane.
4k 120 was already done by Sony with 8 gen 2. Also there should no reason why switching between lenses on 4k60 was not possible on 8 gen 2 s23. I hope they add this via update.
For photos, the S24 largely looks better here but on the photos you posted on Instagram, I thought the S23 was far more naturalistic and less washed out.
It would nice if Samsung would care more about their products - list of issues of One UI 6.0 on 23 series is pretty long, as it is possible to check on the Samsung community forum. But for them it is easier to sell the same phone next year than to fix the problems with existing ones.
Samsung have the best Android support beside Google. The S23 series will have 4 upgrades and 5 years of security patches. The S24 series is even better with 7 years of upgrades.
What are the list of issues on One UI 6.0? It's been fine for me. And NEVER use a companies community forums to ascertain whether a product has issues (ever heard of selection bias). You need to look at reviews from other sources. Also what does this have to do with THIS phone? This phone runs One UI 6.1 not One UI 6.0. Probably best to complain elsewhere about One UI 6.0. I'd suggest complaining to Samsung directly rather than here. Because this isn't a good look for you...
@@franklingoodwin It has to do with this phone that there is almost not any improvement to previous one which has problems. Community forums are not good to see if the product has issues? What? Reviews base on a new products, and mostly not on real life experiences. Because it isn't good look for me? Second: what?
@@MolpMC You're just complaining for the sake of it. That's why it's not a good look, It just makes you look bitter. If you have an issue with Samsung - complain to THEM. Learn to read the room FFS. Notice how despite me asking you what the issues are in One UI 6.0, that you didn't give me any answers. Interesting...
I was pointing out the problem with samsung phones - that they release a phone which changes almost nothing comparing to the previous ones, and the previous series have problems not solved by them. 9:27 one small thing to note, scene optimizer was ON for the S23U and OFF for the S24U. Might have to do something with it, processing of the picture takes longer I believe.
As an owner of S23 ultra and various other Samsung flagships, Don't buy the S24 ultra if you have a device newer than S22 Ultra. This Al thing is going nuts, and trust me you aren't gonna notice it in day to day tasks. Say what you say but this device is nothing but a glorified version of previous Ultras.. Never been less excited and disappointed for new Samsung devices. This device is so underwhelming, I never expected Samsung to stagnate like this, usually when they used to be at the forefront of the innovation. They crammed in a new SOC, titanium frame and bunch of Al crap along with many downgrades like display, camera and in my opinion even design, nothing else with a $1299 price tag. In this age of inflation, layoffs, How are you gonna even justify paying the exorbitant amount of money on basically a same phone every year? They released bunch of good phones in previous years peaking with S10 and S23 series , but I guess this was it, they had no competition, so yeah. Again, S23 ultra is a much better device if you are able to score it at a bargain.
The screen is much better on S24U, i have seen on the store, its day and night different. Its like comparing LCD to OLED panel. Also its the first Samsung phone that use parallel processing from New Camera Sensor (HP3, S23 use HP2) to ISP, also they use Sensor Crop Zoom technology.
@@stevin2204 That is because S24 ultra uses Gorillas Glass armour which has Anti-Reflective coating, and in highly lit environment it would handle background reflections better. Display tech is the same across both series of phones. Also the sensor crop is nothing revolutionary, we've seen it in previous smartphones like iPhone 15s and other devices. Cropping into the middle frame of the sensor is indifferent to what we've seen on DSLRs and mirrorless cameras over the past years. Zooming into the middle frame of the sensor at the expense of details picked up by the sensor is just a workaround for the absence of optical zoom present on previous Samsung devices.
@@MrMice... That's not for me to tell, neither for you. As a company putting billions of dollars into R&D, it's their blunder to give us enough reasons to make their product appealing to consumers. We expect upgrades from New smartphones every year not downgrades.
Pre ordered one. Coming from the s22 ultra. My contract was coming to an end and it has somehow worked out cheaper so well worth it. Excited for the flat screen most of all i think.
@@fzr1000981 i had several discounts on my monthly bill that would've expired at the end of the contract so it would have gone from £30 for airtime to like £50. I also just wanted the s24 ultra so ive only gained from this. is the $29 dollars you are paying for the phone, airtime or both and for how long because this is all important when comparing these things. (In the uk at least) its quite common to upgrade when your contract is ending its something people look forward to often times especially when you have a phone You're a bit fed up i was when i had an s20 Ultra. Theyre 24 month which to me is a fine Amount of time
Upgrading from the S9+ that I received as a free upgrade from Affirm when my S8+ broke. I havent had a brand new phone since the S8+!! I love this S24 Ultra but the screen is incredibly dull even compared to the S9+. Also, mine is through ATT so I havent experienced the green and white lines but yeah solid phone.
No reason for me to upgrade from my S23+ until the S28 comes out😂 Since thats when they stop supporting the S23. Which will be what? 0.5 ms slower than the S28 in day to day activities? Whoever upgrades yearly is a mouth breather. Period.
Would love to know if there's been any improvement on the constant motion blur when shooting kids / pets (or fidgety adults 😅 ) in less than ideal light. Pixel always nails that, iPhone is consistently good, but s23 ultra defaults to too slow a shutter speed.
@@Gravage He showed that the shutter fires faster than before (time between pressing the button and the shutter opening), but not that the shutter speed (amount of time the shutter is left "open" before closing) is increased.
this video is the best one ive seen so far for the 10x comparison, I rarely used it on my s23 ultra to be honest but this confirmed the s24U is still brilliant at 10x, thanks mate :) looking forward to my s24u this week :)
The S23 U has had numerous software updates to fix problems. The S24 U has had none. Brand new chip set will probably take a month or two to be optimized.
how does the camera compare to Samsung Galaxy S23? I just had my S21stolen on vacation and need to replace it, is it worth the money to get the S24? I want it as a camera for travelling and zoom for filming video at football matches and concerts...
Absolutely, the only difference I can tell between both cameras is the more contrasty, less washed-out colors of the S24! I like it! YES FINALLY, LESS SHUTTER LAG! 🔥🙌🏻 (I also love how you can choose the ammount of processing in the photo!)
I have it pre ordered, upgrading from an S20 Ultra. My S20 Ultra camera depth sensor is having problems. Probably 70% of my pictures are now blurred. Originally the pictures were fantastic, retired my DSLR. However, I've broken back out the DLSR to capture pivotal moments in our lives. So the update was due. I preferred to have my phone for 1 more year, but it's been almost 4 years, and I've gotten my money worth. I would probably say skip I you're upgrading from a S22 or newer.
As a fans of note series. I find the pen is very usefull for a detailed editing and drawing. My first smart phone is samsung note 3, and i upgraded to note 8 and then note 20 ultra. I was about to buy s23ultra november last year, because note20ultra camera wasn't that great for low light and videos. But decide to wait for s24ultra. Just placed my pre order for samsung galaxy s24 ultra 1TB. And i can't wait to get a better videos with it!
I bought it yesterday. Only one negative, and is a big one to me; no expandable storage! I have an S10, with a 1TB card, and it's full. I'm pretty disappointed. I want more storage.
Always look forward to your reviews out of all the tech reviewers, I feel you're far more honest on what you feel about the product, rather than just completely disregard last year's flagship. I have the S23 Ultra and i definitely dont believe the S24 Ultra is worth upgrading to. I feel this is more for people who are coming from the S21 Ultra or are stepping onto a new Samsung flagship.
selfie camera is better it's not blown out.
@@BLAKEEATS1988 Although the camera has improved a little bit, it's certainly not worth paying £400-500 to upgrade from the S23 Ultra. From all the videos I've seen comparing the cameras, not one of them is showing me there is a big difference in the cameras. In fact, some shots and filming actually looks better on the previous model. Every year a new phone will come out and will say it's a massive upgrade. But the truth is the previous year's model is still more than good enough on most instances. I'm glad you like the upgrades. There is no way I'd upgrade from the S23 Ultra to the S24 Ultra.
@@Random-KP I think the thing is will the A.I ( the removal of background ) comes to the S23U. Also, the stabilization in the S24 is superior, but will that come to the S23U. If they both do, there is literally no point in upgrading. I have a s10 and am thinking about buying the S23U on the cheaper side. However, the main two factors are what I mentioned. I can toss in the video editing as well, if that will hit the S23U.
Hey Chaps! Are you tempted to upgrade?
CORRECTION 1: Sony Xperia offered 4k120 first
CORRECTION 2: I missed that I had scene optimizer on for the S23. I re-tested today, the S24 is still noticeably faster.

You're a UK RUclipsr, why not provide a buying link to the UK site?

Why is no one talking about the screen reflections being basically gone? It is insane.

Does the natural display setting give an accurate color rendition as opposed to vivid mode?
@@tmifb9926 to me, the selfie photos have been better on the Samsung, it marginally preserves better detail and a slightly shallower depth of field
Crazy, same, except i owned Oppo

Haha same here, I'm fully happy with Huawei but due to the Google service restrictions I'm now pending between the Glaxy S24+/ultra or the dark side: Iphone 15 pro 😂

I've probably taken thousands of photos for drawing references with my S20, so upgraded camera is huge plus for me.
welcome to the club, I'm also switching over from the regular S20!

Wait another 3 years for a worthwhile upgrade

I ordered the same black 1TB S24U. I'm coming from a Note 20U. I know it should be a huge upgrade. No SD card slot but I'm ready to move on.
The curved display does look better from the front, but there is something about seeing thin bezels the same all the way across that hits better.
i am in the other camp i always thought the flat screens looked better and more slick then any of the curved screens on phones from a pure ascetic stand point

Sad to see edge screen is gone, I've always preferd it over flat screens. It looks good and premium...

Fun fact, the S23 Ultra can crop 2x into the 200MP sensor to sort of provide a virtual 2x optical zoom, and yes, that works even when recording in 4K 60fps.
So that makes zooming in in 4K60 quite more usable.
Great review. Wish other were as detailed about the camera as you
Wow that zoom lens transitions are smoooth
That’s what sold me, I have the S22U and the transitions are so choppy.
Getting mine in 4 days. Looking forward to do my real world camera test ❤
The video on front and back look REALLY GOOD!!🔥 Samsung really improved!
Hi how did you get the free screen protector and the case with this?
@@harshavardhansingh9936 you had to pre register for the launch event. They emailed a code £50 off, free case and screen protector. If you go to Hotukdeals and search for s24 ultra you might find someone giving one away they don't want

Yh I'm in the UK too and also signed up a few weeks back. I received the code but I don't see anything about free cases or screen protectors! 🤔
When the software update pushes out on Tuesday, would love to see the improvements!
I've gone from the S10+ to the S24 Ultra. I love my S10+ a lot, it's mainly due to the security updates stopping that ive finally had to upgrade but I'm looking forward to it !
Me too. My s10+ still in good condition but I the updates look to be stopping soon so upgrade!
They changed the 512 GB s24u from last version's 12GB of RAM to 8 GB of RAM😂

Say goodbye to the sd card slot.. :')
I'm in the same boat, but I'm keeping my n20u for some more time.
I'm letting go my Note 20 ultra, everything is great but my battery isn't lasting how it did which it is normal

I was wondering the same thing, causes a big difference in performance
S24U was made for those who are using still Samsung phones 5 years and older. This will be a huge Upgrade ❤

I still think raw camera performance is still going to the iPhone, but I like what Samsung is trying to do. the speed improvement between S22U and S23u was very noticeable, also feel wise. I guess the difference with S24U will be a bit less?
Snapdragon 8gen 2 was an absolute banger of a chip. Don't think you'll notice as much of a difference with the new gen3
Going from my 21 ultra to the 24 ultra pretty excited 😊
Given the camera lenses are the same (apart from the 5x and 10x lens swap), I would imagine the One UI 6.1 update on the S23 Ultra will make the cameras the same, there is no reason for them to be any different. 4K 60 lens switching likely won't come to the S23 Ultra either.
The chip processor does make a slight difference so 23 ultra being on the same software as the s24 ultra will not make the cameras even.
Yup just as the other guy said it is a new sensor
Excellent video. I have an S22ultra ultra, and I will definitely be upgrading to the s24 ultra. Thanks for all the information 😊
How much of a difference is it between the S24 Ultra and the S24+ when it comes to camera features? Not really interested in the Stylus at all, but the camera on the Ultra looks insane.
The Ultra has a 200MP and 50MP telephoto that the lesser models don't have.
I got the plus today and I absolutely LOVE it
4k 120 was already done by Sony with 8 gen 2. Also there should no reason why switching between lenses on 4k60 was not possible on 8 gen 2 s23. I hope they add this via update.
4k 120 has been done by Sony ever since 2020.
The filming in London 3.58 in - the police car 3.55 in. The glare on the s23 is significantly brighter.

For photos, the S24 largely looks better here but on the photos you posted on Instagram, I thought the S23 was far more naturalistic and less washed out.
Waiting for my s24 Ultra 1TB 😊 Can't wait to test video/photo quality and new AI features...
Great review 👏
This isn't the time or place to complain about One UI 6.0. Because as I've already said this phone runs One UI 6.1. Notice how despite me asking you what the issues are in One UI 6.0, that you didn't give me any answers. Interesting...
I was pointing out the problem with samsung phones - that they release a phone which changes almost nothing comparing to the previous ones, and the previous series have problems not solved by them. So first - you should start to understand what you read. Yes, I did not give you answer because you can find it by yourself within 3s by typing into google "S23 6.0 issues", and you would have an answer. I'm happy to hear that you are a fan of samsung and have only good experiences - good for you. Discussion with you have no point so - have a nice day @@franklingoodwin
100% I agree
The screen is much better on S24U, i have seen on the store, its day and night different. Its like comparing LCD to OLED panel. Also its the first Samsung phone that use parallel processing from New Camera Sensor (HP3, S23 use HP2) to ISP, also they use Sensor Crop Zoom technology.
So then what exactly is the year-to-year upgrade expectation? Sweeping, generational changes EVERY year? What should the S24 series have specifically?
I think I saw you around Big Ben last week! You seemed so busy too:))
Pre ordered one. Coming from the s22 ultra. My contract was coming to an end and it has somehow worked out cheaper so well worth it. Excited for the flat screen most of all i think.
Me too. New upgraded phone, lower bill. What's not to like!
Same here🙋🏼♀️
So you jumped into another long term contract, what is your monthly bill? I pay $29 with Spectrum
I enjoyed your first review
im still on the s10 cause i'm waiting for like THE phone is it this one should i buy or w8 another year cause i dont know what they could improve more
Please do a social media camera test
yes, much needed
No reason for me to upgrade from my S23+ until the S28 comes out😂 Since thats when they stop supporting the S23. Which will be what? 0.5 ms slower than the S28 in day to day activities? Whoever upgrades yearly is a mouth breather. Period.
The big (camera) software update is Tuesday.
Yep - waiting for that before I start on my iPhone/Pixel comparisons
They have to downgrade camera performance of S23 ultra to make S24 ultra meaningful.😂😂
@@Thetechchapsmart man ,not rushing the test
Oo wonder what that will bring?
Upgrading from s9+ for the 2 tone ultra violet color. Cant wait!
Would love to know if there's been any improvement on the constant motion blur when shooting kids / pets (or fidgety adults 😅 ) in less than ideal light. Pixel always nails that, iPhone is consistently good, but s23 ultra defaults to too slow a shutter speed.
I saw a CNET article basically complaining about the fact that it's not. Odd, given his demonstration of the faster shutter speed here.
No money for this phone but still watching 😂😂😂
I regret trading in my S21U for the S24U. The screen on the S21 is the best in any smart phone.
YES! Shutter lag always a problem before.
Just pre ordered mine! Ayeeee 😊!!
Im dropping my iphone 15 pro and getting S24ultra
You crazy!😝
I bought it yesterday.
Only one negative, and is a big one to me; no expandable storage!
I have an S10, with a 1TB card, and it's full.
I'm pretty disappointed. I want more storage.
I am trading in a Note10 Ultra but still have my Note20 Ultra. I despise that Samsung is forcing me to change by not giving security upgrades
Always look forward to your reviews out of all the tech reviewers, I feel you're far more honest on what you feel about the product, rather than just completely disregard last year's flagship.
I have the S23 Ultra and i definitely dont believe the S24 Ultra is worth upgrading to. I feel this is more for people who are coming from the S21 Ultra or are stepping onto a new Samsung flagship.
i traded in my s23 ultra, I paid 570€ for s24 ultra :D
selfie camera is better it's not blown out.
@@drblank6286 to be honest, that's a lot of money to upgrade for small changes. However, if you're happy, then that's the important thing mate.
I am impressed with the significant camera's improvement
