What she is talking about is the impatriate tax regime, and the most important thing she forgot to mention is that it is only eligible for highly qualified workers that make at least 110 000 USD yearly, so most of us are not even gonna be part of that! and that truly sucks!

Hi Nidhi - Firstly, Great content. I’ve been working in Luxembourg for the last 2 years and my wife will start working soon. But I really am unaware of the tax part because to my knowledge - there are no such exemptions for claiming living costs allowed as deduction to your income for tax. Hey so I am joining a company in Luxembourg and will be moving there soon. I had a question regarding taxes. I understand rent can be exempt from taxation.
How does one do this? I believe my employer will deduct the tax from my monthly gross income. So if i end up paying rent how would I get a reduced rate back? Would I get it back from the government after filling tax every fiscal year?

Okay first of all you need French, Although you can still speak English and you’ll be okay. Second of all you need a European work permit. Recruiters will ask for your work permit before going forward with the application. French influence Is a lot, The recruiters will probably be French so they prefer someone from European Union instead of the third country. Also getting a work permit Will require kind of sponsorship, the company needs to apply Visa for you. I Live here in Luxembourg and She doesn’t even know how to pronounce the name of the country. Talking about expenses, the highest expense is rent you will be minimum €1500-€2000 for a One bedroom apartment which would be around 40-50% of your salary. The housing market is crazy, housing prices for buying is around €1 million. For a single person this country is quite expensive. Please do your research well before deciding anything From someone Who doesn’t live here and just does research online and make videos.
