I live in Bklyn, NY and I put all my plants outside for the summer. I do all the things you mention to my plants with the addition of washing my pots on the outside and underneath the pots I find that ants, slugs, red spider mites and spiders hide on the pots, especially, underneath and with pots with top curved rims. thanks for the video!🥰
I like to thrift round serving trays/platters as saucers on big plants. Another thing that works great is crawfish/seafood trays! I’m from New Orleans sooooo…
You are so helpful and easy to listen to. Thank you for being so cute and sharing such wonderful tips for my houseplant care.
I love the casual vibe you put out I’m a barefoot girl too and you always look so comfortable.
Hi, I am in NY and I put all my struggling plants outside and they grow like crazy. I am getting ready to bring them in soon.
I recently found you, I'm obsessed with your videos my plants are thriving!!!!
Thank you for putting out such informative content and adding a bad word lol . This video is perfect right now!
I've been following you for years, since I had a black thumb. And now I'm "the plant lady" named by my friends and neighbors. I do all those tricks because you've taught me and my plants have been doing wonderful 😊 this year I'm bringing them from outside into the basement bathroom and going to release lady bugs. We will see how that goes 😅
@@vanessap.4810 that is so smart! Please let me know how it goes, I’d love to do something like that instead of systemic 😲
I love videos like this! And the ending is so great 🤣🤣
I live in Atlanta, GA. I take my snake plants, money tree, and fiddle leaf fig outside for spring and summer. Right now the temperatures are falling to the 60s at night, so they'll be fine outside until at least the end of September. I have already started treating for any pests and preparing them to come back in the house for winter. Thanks for sharing what you do to prep your plants to go back in the house for the colder months!
I’m still at the beginning of the video but I love putting my plants outside! I live on the NC coast and it definitely feels tropical here in the summer. The plants love it! Plus it stays moderately warm until late October here even into November sometimes. Honestly, I haven’t had terrible pest issues (knock on wood 😅). I’ve mostly had issues with giant spiders and yellow jackets making nests in my hoyas. 🫣 Last year there were tiny green jumping spiders everywhere. I guess with all the predators, including little tree frogs and lizards, pests don’t have a chance out there. 🤷🏾♀️ Now to actually finish the video. 😂
ETA: I love the tip for watering in systemic while the plants are still actively growing instead of in winter when they need less water. Thanks, Harli!
Good morning harli! Just wanted to let you know that I was able to be in your live a couple of days ago and it was SO FUN talking to you! This video came at the perfect time cause I was just worried about my plants since this is my first winter with plants! I honestly thought you were watching me LOL! Love you 💕
Hi fellow Utahn!! Love it here in Utah. But YES, the weather can turn on a dime. We can get all 4 seasons in one day - heck in an hour! I have quite a few plants out this year. Way more than usual, so this was a great reminder. Thanks a ton!!
I live in Toronto and try to bring many of my indoor plants outside for the summer too. When I bring them in I clean the outside of their pots, clean plants with hose and spray them with insecticidal soap. Usually that does it with avoiding pests 😀🇨🇦
I move mine out and bring them back in. I live in Ohio and I’m a little stressed because I have 1 day till we have temps below 50
Good morning Harli! So excited to see you posted! Just finished watching your live...love your plant content, also can you plz do more lives? I have a hard time falling asleep and your lives would be something to look forward to💚
I always take my plans outside for the summer.
I’m looking at your fix a large planter on tv and I’m not technically savvy but I’ll love to see you paint the urn
I’m in Tx so I don’t need to bring my plants in until maybe some time in November. I do the same things you do but I will treat my outdoor plants with systemic granules about a month before bringing them in. Some I will not treat until they get inside. I have beautiful bougainvilleas outdoors, my OG pothos, desert roses and I now have a variegated lemon tree that I potted up in a large pot so I can protect it from the cold weather. We watch the weather closely, the weather is wacky. We can be in the 80s then the temperature drops or vice versa. Last years winter wasn’t hard, I hope we have a good winter to kill bugs.
I live in NC and I have my plants stay outside as long as I can. It almost feels cruel to leave them inside while the weather is warm!
I do most of the same prep to prepare them as well, plant lights lights have been key for mine. This is also my last chance for propagating.
I would recommend finding a couple roller trays for those larger pots to make them easier to move!
Yes! Im in Colorado and we've had a few early morning temps in mud 50's. So all my hoyas that were outside Ive been bringing in over the past several days. My snall indoor cacti are in a pretty protected area and will be the last to come in!! Always enjoy your tips and tricks!!❤😂
I've already been dreading 🫤 Thanks for the tips!
I know its not in your range of content, BUT I LOVE your clothing style
I don’t take my plants out for the summer. But I think these tips are appropriate for wintering my indoor plants. I’ve never known to do these things and my plants so sad in the winter. Boosting them now will definitely be beneficial to them. Please, keep giving us tips!❤
Have you ever thought of getting a greenhouse? I remember you mentioning possibly getting rid of the grow tent, but greenhouse videos (even small greenhouse) would be really fun 😊
I live in PHX, AZ. and do the opposite of most people. Out in the fall, in for the summer 😂😂
Good Morning! Have a great day!!
I live in Southern Minnesota, usually have plants out on our deck thru summer. This year spring was so wet that I didn't put out as many as I normally do. My Japanese Banana is one out side and because of the rain in we were getting in spring I placed it under the roofline to try to give it some protection and I hoped less rain. It grew fine even when some storms came with 70+ mph wind and hail. I also have two pots with Elephant Ears in, these were a little more out in the open. The winds didn't do to much damage but the excess rain was a bit much for them.
Now at the end of this week the night temps are supposed to get down to the mid 50s then after this weekend back to mid to upper 60s for at least a week. This is normal for September here, we can get a week over 40s overnight and lucky to get into the 60s during the day. Then 80s for daytime and 60s overnight to well into October. But this year with the unusual weather we;ve had all summer I think I will be making planes to prep and start moving all the plants inside including the banana which spent last winter by a corner window that face South and West. I think with a little juggling I can get it back there this year.
Good morning, sweetie. I live in Seattle, and yep, most of my babies spend the summer on the back deck!! My back hurts just thinking about moving them all back in again
I’m in Utah too, cool to find that’s where you’re located so I have a better grasp on suggestions like this 😊😊
I live in the mountains and my routine is pretty similar to yours with the exception of osmocote just because I havent gotten around to it. I'll have to go out and get some!!!
LOVE all your videos! Keep em coming! I flush my outdoor plants out super good and then I flush with peroxide too. Makes them pests run far away!
How do you use the peroxide and how much?
I don't have to bring plants in as I live in South Florida. But struggling or buggy o es get kicked to outside. They usually bounce back and may come back in if there's room. We rarely get a frost warning late Dec or Jan and then it's survival of the fittest 😂
Love this video! Very helpful! Thanks Harli ❤
Thanks for sharing Harli!
Good morning Harli. Have a good day.
I do not put plants outside as I did once and it was soooo much trouble bringing them back in and pests and all of the things to prepare them and it just caused too much stress that I never did it again.
Time fir me to fo my plant chores❤
Got a lot of great tips from this video. Thank you!
We still having lovely weather here Autumn starts for us end of September. I prefer plants indoors and outdoors separately. Cause of bugs don’t want them inside the house. We only get heat wave and hot weather middle of June until end of August. Also few days in September aswell.
Thank you harli for your tip.🎉🎉🎉
Hi Harli! Great tips! I live in Arizona, so I seem to do the shuffle twice a year on some plants😂 Summer, even in the shade is just too hot for some plants, so I bring them in. Our winters also can get down in the 30's and 40's, so in winter I also move some in! I like to redecorate and stir up the plant vibes, so it is a good excuse to do that. BTW. LOVE your top!❤❤
Ohio has been so weird with night temps, I’ve had to watch weekly to know if my rubber tree and monstera need to be brought in😅
YAY new video friday! 😊
So helpful! Thank you
Harli! You did an Instagram post for ficus Audrey a while ago and she was looking a little bit nakey on the stem...I think she looks really great after a summer outside... I would struggle giving her away now 😂
Love this video, and your shirt! Do you have a link for that too? Lol.
It’s my first time transitioning plants inside so I’ll give these tips a try. Thanks!
I put mine be on my inside porch by the window, with humidifier I’m in NJ
I used to every summer until I brought in pests and didn't know it until it was pretty far gone. I don't even open my windows any more, even though they have screens.
Spray them all before bringing them in. Castile soap (peppermint and tea tree), rubbing alcohol, a bit of hydrogen peroxide, a bit of neem mixed in water. Spray well and let dry outside…..spray again a week later. And again a light spray a few days later and bring in. I’ve not gotten bugs this way. I also spray them a couple times during the summer. The plants are all doing great. Bugs don’t like this concoction and they don’t even come to begin with. (I do have long summers in Oklahoma). I wash the indoor plants with this too….maybe twice a year in the tub. I don’t have any plants that I can’t move to the tub or the patio for cleaning. I use distilled water. I spray all new plants and isolate for a week. Zero bugs in years.
Love all videos you're so cute and amusing 😂
I'm in North Carolina, and it's getting cooler-at least this week. Next week, it will be 90 again. 😂😭 I do need to start getting my few outside plants ready to move back in though.
Thanks harli❤
🎉🎉
I used to use the systemic granules but it's now banned in Massachusetts. I get why and think it's probably for the best but it was so helpful.
I live in northern ca and I only have succulents and cacti. So they stay outside 24/7 😅 they get morning sun. I do have to refresh their soil I’m just a little nervous because I don’t know if it’s too late for that.
Girl we’ll watch anything you put on here. 😂❤
@@Planty-Mandy ily I could kiss you
I just discovered your channel and I am curious what zone you are in that you are bringing your plants in now. I love to be able to compare videos with my zone 7B. Your plants are beautiful.
@@GramcrackerX2 I am zone 6! Haven’t brought them inside just yet but definitely prepping bc where I live, the cold hits fast!
Thumbs up 👍🏻
Harli, where did you get those plant lights on your bedside tables? So cute! 🥰
They are from Amazon. You can find a link in the description box of this video.
Thank you 😊
Oh I’m so dreading bringing my plants back inside lol. Love plants but scared of bugs. Harliii do you still use liquidirt?
I use it. My plants seem to like it a lot. They produced a lot of new growth this summer. I bought it a few years ago but didn’t use it consistently. This summer I watered every time with it and I noticed a big difference.
Would somebody be able to provide a link for the pest killer she used? 😊
Also the plant food please.
I am blind and honestly have no clue how to spell the names of these products 🤭
Harli has the Bonide Systemic Granules and Osmocote Fertilizer linked in the description box of this video. To find the description box, click on the title of this video. That will bring it up but you might need to further expand the box to see everything.
Do u not have merch anymore? I'm so sad I have been wanting to get something but kept forgetting and just realized there's no link for it anymore 😭
Thanks Harli for the video. I do the same, except the point with already pre picked place for the plants. I had around 70 houseplants on the bacony and one by one I’m moving them inside and it’s a struggle 😃 I was also wondering, since the plants were used to the temperature changes (lower in the night) and now they will have mostly constant temperature all day long, is there anything I need to do to make them acclimated? Or they will be fine regardless?
Garlic, what does your. Potting mix consist of?
I know I’m here for the plants & all.. but what are those patio chairs!?! I need names! lol
🦋🦋🦋
Do you still water with liquidirt and then also add the osmocote on top? Or do you just do osmocote?
could you please provide the lights you spoke of ? thanks
I don’t know if the instructions for the Bonide granules are different than the instructions for the Hi-Yield granules, but Hi-Yield recommends working the granules into the top few inches of the soil and only watering lightly for the first 10 days
Is bonide water runoff safe to go down the drain?
💚💚
Why are you giving your ficus Audrey away? If its height is the issue in your home, you can just prune it like I did for fiddle leaf figs. That way you have a smaller plant and you can stick the top part you cut into rooting hormone and stick it in soil to have another free plant
@@thejasreddy-rd5xt it just looks awkward no matter where I put it & my friend has a perfect spot for it
Good morning Harli!!
So im a very new house plant owner. I have 2 baby spider i didnt soak long enough in water and the roots didn't get too big so i think its strugging a bit. The big leaves are brown and dying but theres tiny little new growth leaves. And i scored a bunch of other plants for a dollar a piece. Should i feed them still? I have 10-10-10 slow release and miracle grow. Please help!
Spider plants don’t like a lot of water. Actually, most plants don’t.
@@twinfin8571 you think that's why the big leaves are turning all brown? I soaked them for the 5-7 days like it said on the internet. They got tiny roots and I potted them up. I've water it twice since potting it up. But I did you tap water and didn't know any better until the leaves started browning up
@@ACryin_Shame . I didn’t realize you were propagating babies. I thought it was a potted plant. Just the tips were the roots are need to be in water if that’s the way you’re propagating. They also grow in soil or many other mediums….coconut coir, perlite etc. Change the water a couple times a week. Keep the leaves out of the water as much as possible and don’t use tap water. Rain or distilled. Watch some other videos for more ideas. It took me several attempts to understand spider plants…..don’t give up. They are wonderful once you understand what they need. I have put baby spiders in a shot glass of water and when the roots were an inch long, started adding potting soil a little bit at a time until they were actually growing in soil and not water. (Change out growing vessel as they grow….spiders like a bit of crowding so don’t put them in too big a container) Good luck.
@@twinfin8571 two of my babies are in a pot, I potted them too soon with tiny roots... it has new baby leaves in the middle but all the original leaves are nearly dead and brown more than half the length of the leaves
@@ACryin_Shame I would wait to feed them until they’re more established plants! Sometimes fertilizers can shock or burn the roots when they’re small & weak
But you just made a video for bringing plants out 😫
