    We're as bad as each other with the blaming each other lol!
    I like these pencils... so will be interested to see what you think of them too. 🥰
    I sorted mine in colour order. I reckon they get bored sorting them in the Brutfuner factory 😅

      Lol! I know 😂 We should be banned from watching each other!😉
      I've done a couple of pages with them now and overall I think they are a good buy, they are nice and soft. I think the only issue I feel is the colour selection and the lack of good darker pigments. I feel like a lot of the colours are very samey, just a small amount darker or lighter, and trying to get heavy dark colours is a bit of challenge. But overall, for the price of them I think these are a great buy, and work well in my Amazon pages. I've put my Kalour 72's with them, and them makes them a bit of a better colour mix for me. These are a great starter set for somebody. x 👍

      @@wendyscolouring yeah, I'd agree with that! The Brutfuner or Kalour pastels are definitely a good pairing for the lighter shades. 🥰

    I got rid of my castle arts, could not get use to them at all. Ordered the original Brutfurners, ( coloured barrel) was not expecting much but…. I’ve not stopped using them, love them.😊

    • @wendyscolouring

      Yes I should do the same I just don't use them, I don't like either set they are both a bit strange. These have been a surprise to me as well, I think for the money these are a great cheap set. I done a few pages with them, and enjoyed them. x 👍❤️

      Which is funny because they all use the same cores and colors. The Castle Arts are basically the black Brutfuners/Kalours/Soucolor/Shuttle Arts. They are all the same pencils. Only Castle Arts asks premium prices for them.
      The Brutfuners/Kalour/Shuttle Art with the solid color barrels are also the same pencils. And them and the black barrel and the square Brutfuners are also all the same pencils. Why everyone keeps saying the black ones and solid color ones and square ones are all different is beyond me. Because they really arent.

      I've done a few pages with these now, and I'm still liking them, this is a great starter set. I'd like a bigger variety of colours, and they are a bit lacking in pigment, but overall for the price, I'd buy these again. xx👍💗

    HIya Wendy, yep got these and use them in my cheaper colouring books, 100 ...... etc you know the type. i like them, they have got the goldilocks effect for me. Also got the pen set which i use for my mandals, best of both worlds fineliners and felt tips. Plus they look similar to the ohuhu fineliner pens and a fraction of cost. hope this helps. Also love watching art journey, I guess im far too easily influenced.!!!!! Also have the pastels and metallics.

      Yay! at least its not just me! 😉😁 I think these are great for the money, super for the Amazon books. I've used them a fair bit since they have arrived. Its nice to find some cheaper stuff that work ok!👍❤️🫶🏻

    180 Brutfuner they’re not bad but you’re never get the quality ranges of colours choices like expensive colouring pencils . ( from the lightest to darkest colours) Me personally just stick with luminance, Derwent lightfast , Chromaflow , prisma , Holbein or polychromos at least I’m never get disappointed by them 😬👌

    • @wendyscolouring
      @wendyscolouring  Год назад +1

      Yes i totally agree, but I'm always tempted to try something If I spot someone using them. I do enjoy all the better brands you mention, but I do a lot of colouring and replacing them is expensive, so I try each month to mix up my colouring with different brands. You can still get good effects with this brand, it just need more work to get it there. And at least I know its a cheap replacement to get more. I tend to use this kind of pencil in my Amazon printed books, and save the better stuff, for better paper. x 👍

      Well, some people dont want to spend a fortune on their hobby. ^^ These cheaper pencils are great for us, therefor. And they perform really well for budget pencils. it would probs make more sense to buy these as your starter set, then replace them pen by pen with more premium brands that offer open stock.

    I think you were right 2 skip sj gold. I am in usa and got them for >$30. Switched once, tried 2 use on a page, didn't like. Put them on shelf and never touched since.

      Aaah right good to know, they were very hard to get over here for ages, so we were expecting amazing things, but I'm thinking I'm not going to bother. I'm quite liking these for a cheap set, colours are a bit samey, but overall they feel nice to use. ( Prisma's probably a better buy for you in the states, but they so pricey for use over here) Thanks for letting me know, x 👍💗

    Hi Wendy I’ve not tried these ones I have the brutfuner square and they are not too bad .. but I’ve got to say I love my polychromos and my albrecht durers as well as my inktense.. I started off with the castle arts pencils which to say I’m not too keen on but I use them in my cheaper books .. I’m so wanting to purchase the prisma full set but they are so expensive to get them here in the uk .. as it worries me that they end up being fakes for the price .. I have a few random ones and I do love them it’s the breakages that puts me off too 😢.. great upload tysmfs 🥰

    • @wendyscolouring
      @wendyscolouring  Год назад +1

      HIya, totally agree with what prettypages says, if you prefer polys, then these probably aren't for you as they are softer. All my prismas have come from Amazon (UK) and whilst they have the usual quality control issues, they have been ok, I just don't tend to use them too often as they very quickly reduce in size and as you say the price for them over here is just silly for the quality of them. You have to keep checking Amazon for the prices, they will just pop up on a random day cheaper sometimes. Im still enjoying these bruts, they just need a better colour selection, but are a good starter pencil I think. xx

    I have these too. I don’t have much of a problem with these, and do have the Starjoys too(the original variety not the golds). Thanks for yet another wonderful and fun review! I have been told that these are virtually the same as the Kalour 180’s ….but, idk, supposedly one is wax-based(Kalours) and one is oil(Bruts). In the words of one of my fave Colourists: “Who knows?”(yes, that’s you, Wendy girl!) 🙂

    • @ArtJourneyUK
      @ArtJourneyUK Год назад +3

      The Bruts are wax based too, they just use the term "oily" as a bad translate for wax based and to differentiate them from watercolour pencils (made in the same factory).
      IMO the Kalour (I have the 300 set) are a little firmer than these... but it's likely same factory, different day 😅

      Hiya Dawn, sorry for my slow reply, I'm still liking these, I think they are better than the castle art soft ones, they don't feel quite as waxy somehow. I'd buy these again, but not the Castle's. These are softer than the Kalours, but I do like them as well. The kalour's and the Bruts are probably all made in the same place, but different mixes I think. These Bruts are much softer than the Kalours, but I think the kalours win on colour selections, much nicer range I think. These win my bargain buy award I think!😂👍😉

    • @wendyscolouring
      @wendyscolouring  Год назад +1

      Hiya Iris, 🖐️ This is a good starter set, as you do get a lot of colours for the money, while you work out if this is for you or not. Whites you do need to move up to a artist grade brand. I like Caren D'ache Luminance white, but many love the Derwent Drawing white, as that is also excellent. xx❤️

      @@Prettypages71 I bought the castle arts ones when they were on offer on Amazon prime day. I'm glad I've got both the castle ones and bruts, means I can mix them up and use both sets on a page. Even though I've got the pastel bruts I still want the pastel castle arts too. Maybe I'm just greedy 😂😂

    • @wendyscolouring
      @wendyscolouring  Год назад +1

      Interested to know how you've found them, I do like the Kalour metaliics, I think they have been the best I've tried, I've not rated the Bruts metallics in any of the sets I've had, are the actual metallic sets different? 👍❤️

    • @wendyscolouring
      @wendyscolouring  Год назад +1

      I prefer the Kalour metallics ( I've no idea if they make a separate metallic set?) but the metallics out of the 320 set I do like. I've not tried the Castle arts ones, but I'd only buy them if they were on offer as I think they are overpriced for what they are. xx💗
