This mission is completely different than the videos from São Tomé for the ORACLES mission; new crew, new scientists, new instruments & a completely different configuration inside the aircraft.

Operation Ice Bridge (OIB)'s purpose is to measure the thickness of Greenland's glaciers & the polar Ice Cap, & track the variances from year to year. This is the LAST leg of the multi-year campaign.

Thanks for this video. Is this plane the same platform that the navy used to hunt subs (say in the 70's)? The tour left me thinking it may be a "stretch" P-3, seems really long. Anywhoo on Ground roaming around Thule was pretty interesting to me. I spent a year at the USAF North Mountain Transmitter Site during '61-'62 time frame. That site was nominally 25-28 guys. At the peak of the cold war Thule had 10,000 plus personnel (Usaf, Army, Danes, and a Coast Guard installation nearby). Arrived in November (full dark season). Played football at midnight during brief summer. The Army had one of their Nike sites between us and main base. Again Thanks for the video.
You landed at Kangerlussuauq, Sønderstrømfjor, former US Air Base and then jump-cut to Thule Air Base, right?

No, the P-3 Orion’s were purpose-built by Lockheed Martin, but they are in fact a variant of the Electra- good eye!!
