I would highly recommend silicone chalk on all these backgrounds around all edges, then hold it in place somehow while it cures.
Otherwise there is a huge chance of fish getting in behind the background and that would be disastrous........the fish ultimately dying and decaying away fouling the water.
I have several of these UR backgrounds installed, they are beautiful and add a whole new dynamic to the aquascape.
But, do yourself a favor and silicone them in place....the clips just don't cut it.

What is it actually made with, is it foam or sponge or something like that ?.

I have African Cichlids my 2 very large Buttikoferi totally move the gravel so much this might not be possible but it's awesome

I noticed on universal rocks website there are thicker and thinner backgrounds...I like this one because it seems thin. I worry about my intake and output bars not fitting over the background if it's too thick.
Run the plumbing behind the background.

Is the colour painted on or ingrained into the material it's made with? ... nevermind, you just answered my question... I think that after several cleansings to rid of the algae growth, the hand painted colours Will eventually wear off

This looks really cool indeed and. Wet real looking too which is always a bonus .... you get too many now that try and make them look as real as possible and you can tell there not of good quality 💪

Do you have to worry about water getting behind it?
You can silicone it in place if you want, or toss an air stone back behind, I didn't do either and it was fine

Yes, the bottom is held in place by the gravel, and the top with clips. Cool beans! And the LED light bar is Perfect!
Q. Could the filter siphon tube be concealed Behind the background? and with extra clips to secure? Maybe in the corner behind the heater? Will the filter/pump/ tube configuration allow it? As long as you don't have tiny fish or babies that should work, yes?
Fewer visual distractions Make it look as REAL as possible!
