Thanks Stevo :) When i was a kid there used to be a large wooden hut at the bottom right of the field.

A large wooden hut, raised a few feet off the ground with wooden steps you ascended onto a veranda, if memory serves me correctly! Chain operated gas lamps and a kitchen towards the back. Also a toilet block around the back, that no one would want to use - funny what you remember! Very spooky being in that hut one dark evening, when the cub leader was telling ghost stories in the dark! Fun times having fires in the woods, with dough twists!
Also spooky when a friend and I saw a weird and distant orange orb-like light hovering in the woods in the direction of the tarn! I also had a weird experience camping there one night - I recall being up and about, out of the tent walking around the woods by myself, like an out of body experience. Just a dream? It felt pretty real!
The hut ended up in increasingly poor repair, and I think possibly damaged by vandalism and fire in the 90s. I think the new building at the top of the field, went up in the mid 90s. Another bit of trivia - there's a massive water valve near the tarn - water from the tarn was used to top up the now long-gone Carlisle canal!

Yes I do watch them I have just been very busy with my Channel video creating and family time through the summer holidays so not been detecting at all either. I do like them also in Detecting videos too :-) The old Duckweed is a nightmare for still water ponds and hard to get rid. Does the Pond hold Fish at all?

Im not sure what life is in that pond John, ive never noticed any but will look to see whats there next time i go, a stream trickles in and out of it so it just needs a little work to keep the flow moving i think.
I havent detected for a year but have some fields coming up for harvest ill be going in, looking forward to it again :)

A quick and easy way would be to net as much as you can of the duck weed whilst leaving the lily pads in there and then freeing up the outflow with maybe a wider and slightly deeper cut if possible and if your allowed. Also look into what the outflow streams into as the duckweed will no doubt try to take over that too! If in doubt give Richard PondGuru a shout :-D
