I like this method a lot, Spore n’ Sprout! Using a laundry or utility basket saves on having to drill holes in buckets. I imagine that if I want to tone down the flush rate to be more like a bucket, I can always paper tape some of the openings? Utility baskets are like laundry baskets, but come in lots of shapes and smaller sizes at the local dollar store. I’m going to try some of my Uncle Ben’s Tek as my grain spawn….🙂
I just got started with my first🍄grow🙂so thanks for your expert guidance videos! 👏🏾👏🏽👏🏼👏👏🏻 I bought some Spore n’ Sprout culture syringes and inoculated some pre-cooked, microwave, organic brown rice bowls with four different strains~ Pioppino, King Oyster, Black Pearl King Oyster and White Beech . Mycelia grew well in the rice bowls per your posted method (Uncle Ben’s version), so now I’m thinking to use the rice bowls as grain spawn to grow separately in some substrates that I have (straw, coco coir, and wood pellets).
GM Brother . Always enjoy all your content even being an experienced cultivator and mushroom guy.I'm actually just getting ready to do this with some Blue Oysters today. All the strains I have gotten from you have been really great and all have been successful. Even when I asked for a Morchella strain you didn't have, you still provided me with another one. Always enjoy the content. Thanks for sharing all the great "Do it yourself" home cultivation for all levels of people👊🍄
I eat mushrooms at least 6 days per week, usually rehydrated shiitake, or fresh shiitake or button mushrooms or fresh maitake that fruit under an oak tree on my front "lawn" in October. Perhaps you could offer dried mushrooms as well as growing supplies.
Hydrated Lime is not the same as lye. Although both are caustic substances, hydrated lime is chemically calcium hydroxide while lye is sodium hydroxide. They have different chemical compositions and properties, with lye generally considered more potent and corrosive than hydrated lime.
You're a genius! I've been trying to find a way to avoid straw boiling step for my planned mushroom farm as fuel is expensive, Thank you so much 👍

I do this but with wood ash. Works great for oysters. Got four 5 gallon buckets bursting with pinks rn
Wood ash is a great idea! Super available and renewable here in the Pacific Northwest…👍🏾
Hi, Can you mix wood ash with straw?

@@carolineaddenbrooke2733 Re-purpose it for plants that need PH adjustments. It’s good for soil and weed control.

Are u putting the spawn only around the edges?
No that’s just where the mushrooms want to grow
Can magic mushrooms be grown using straw and soil?
How did you not get burnt by the lye solution without using gloves to handle the wet straw?
@@quickknowledge4873 Because it doesn’t burn. You can wear gloves if you want.
