This album has all but ended the band's success and set them up for failure unless they stayed doing the same thing. Outside of this song, all the rest on The Weather are generic heart broken indie band tracks singing about exes and missing them. Yet despite that, multiple of them have around 30mil plays. Not a single song Pond has released in the last 7 years have broken a million most not even half because they stopped making generic heart broken songs. Feel free to like what you like. But just know artists aren't doing too good while you listen to the same nostalgic stuff the artists themselves grew out of.
@@goodguyguan3412 You have no clue what you're talking about. The vast majority of their past four albums are _not_ "about exes and missing them". Explain to us how songs like Colder Than Ice, America's Cup, Black Lung, The Weather, Rambo, Fire In the Water, Czech Locomotive, Hang a Cross On Me, Song for Agnes, Last Elvis, Hand Mouth Dancer, Pink Lunettes, All I Want for Xmas (Is a Tascam 388), Doctor's In, Paint Me Silver, Neon River, So Lo, Tasmania, Boys Don't Crash, A/B, Goodnight P.C.C., Human Touch, Zen Automaton, Take Me Avalon I'm Young, and all three parts of Edge of the World are "generic heart broken indie band tracks".
It's mind boggling how insane this planet is. There are billions of people, you and me among them, of different races, cultures, languages. There have been trillions before us, and here we are in this moment. We are so small and insignificant, yet form such massive structures, cities, societies...There is some good in the world; love, friendship, children, good food, family, art, literature, theatre, music. And there is some evil; pain, war, death, destruction, nuclear bombs, hate, corruption, genocides. It's all just so strange
It’s all just energy, frequency, vibrations, etc. We are matter and we will keep transmuting until the process once again repeats itself. In essence, screw what doesn’t serve your greater good. You are so insignificant that in all life’s moment, you are the only one experiencing all of it, all there will ever be. Being an individual shows you that beyond the walls of conformity lies so many answers waiting to be discovered. Just because all the answers may be in what you’re told by parents and appear in textbooks doesn’t mean you can’t go out there and make you’re own. You are not separate from the creator my friend
The largest bomb ever tested was Tsar Bomba from the Soviet Union which was about 50 Megatons. The largest from the US was 15 I believe. 30,000 Megatons would imply either Russia, or the US completely unleashing it's full nuclear arsenal which is astonishing to think about. The subject of nuclear apocalypse harkens back to the Cold War which the robotic tones from the song is very fitting because a lot of sci-fi from that era was some sort of cold war analogy which Robots were a large part of (like War Games, or Space Odyssey). The crescendo at the end was very brilliant along with the distorted guitar riffs. Very satisfying ending I think.
The Weather is still their best for me. Hobo Rocket a good one and Man It Feels Like Space Again up there, but yeah this one was just iconic for its time. Just didn't realise it back then myself was a strong year for music, but was just going through a bit myself personally. Anyway yeah Harry Styles with the opening album of his career, this, Mac De Marco, San Cisco aha. Kevin Parker came out with some good B Sides. Think was the year DAMN came out as well, Gang Of Youths
classic rock, cold war sci fi theming, youd be forgiven for thinking this was some famous song your parents listened to, but this is actually an UNDERRATED song from the 2010S!!! My favorite art is the type that is just so in tune with the meaning of itself that it can expertly deliver a not-so-timeless message, up-front, and still manage to be timeless.
Love this video. Depicts that sad truth that society has crafted a game in which we all partake -- consumption, excess, obsession, greed. Let us realize this sooner than later, refuse to conform or allow others to dictate our life...let us forge our own individual journeys... life is so short and sweet
