    The amount of small things that are sort of unspoken about with installs and upgrades dealing with cars that I learn on your channel is crazy. Lol. Keep it up. My mom sent me a picture of a couple WRXs parked at a Shell one time and I zoomed in and recognized you and your beard lmaoo

    Sweet! Are you going to have to re-drill the rotors to a 114.3? I had to do that with my custom turbo civic project. I had to make a rotor hub centering tool to do it.

    • @BlakesGarage
      @BlakesGarage  8 лет назад

      +jdmcommute nope I'm 5x100 if you are 5x114 then just get regular STI Rotors.

      +Blake's Garage oh ok. I thought so but I didn't hear you mention that in the vid. I Was actually planning on putting these CTSV calipers on my Chevelle. But I was looking at the silver ones with the black logo, I guess they are the same. $89 is a steal.

    • @BlakesGarage
      @BlakesGarage  8 лет назад

      jdmcommute Yeah still Brembo but they cost a bit more. Also this is what they made the bracket for on the Subaru's. The 240 SX brackets use the silver ones.

  • @MrGetBad4u
    @MrGetBad4u 8 лет назад

    Hey Blake, this is a awesome idea. I have a 08 STi Hatch. As you know, the STi's have a Brembo caliper already. I have some bad rotors and need to get them replaced. But I have one problem...the bolt that holds the caliper is seized into the caliper. The dealer wants me to buy a new caliper. The STi caliper runs $700 per caliper. That's insaneee. I can buy a used set for $1000+ but not sure if I want to do that route? But Would these calipers work with a STi setup with a 5x114.3 wheel? I'd of course get new rotors for the 5x114.3, but not sure if the calipers would work with this or not? How have the brakes been holding up? Strong stopping power? Is there any difference between these calipers and the STi Brembo caliper? They look the same. I would just get them painted to my liking and get them babies put on. Thanks man.

    • @BlakesGarage
      @BlakesGarage  8 лет назад

      I would send a message to CTSVBRAKESWAP.com and see if they know. I assume they would work but you would need to buy the bracket from them because the bolt pattern spacing is different on these.

    • @BlakesGarage
      @BlakesGarage  8 лет назад +1

      Yeah the stoping power is much improved I'm loving them so much. I'm able to rip canyons now with out feeling like my brakes are going to stop working.

  • @davidromba3584
    @davidromba3584 8 лет назад

    SUPER excited to see someone on youtube doing this, as I've been considering it myself. When you DO get them installed, can you mock up a stock wheel? I read somewhere that someone thought they would fit with the stock wheels and a small spacer. If you could try it super quick (even without the spacer) that would be very helpful.

    • @davidromba3584
      @davidromba3584 8 лет назад

      Scratch the mock up, I just went on a research binge and found where someone had done it. Still super excited for your project!

    • @BlakesGarage
      @BlakesGarage  8 лет назад

      +t- wrx yeah I found that too from another subscribers comment. I will try it I figure I may have to run a spacer for the stock wheels. But I'm waiting for the new wheels before I do the install so I don't run into issues.

  • @BrittanyMartin917
    @BrittanyMartin917 8 лет назад

    are you going to use the spacers or are you wheels offset enough to allow for the calipers without them? but thats looks super sick is the rears a single piston caliper? if so and you need more stopping power will you be going with a 2 piston or a second 4 piston and just add a brake bias upgrade?

    • @BlakesGarage
      @BlakesGarage  8 лет назад +1

      +Brit Freeman The spacers are for the rotor not the wheel. They have to be used. I also have new wheels coming today or that will not be an issue. Not sure what I'm doing for the rear yet I'm going to test this for now and see how it is first.

    is the spacer looking piece ur putting behind the rotor just a wheel spacer or something special

    • @BlakesGarage
      @BlakesGarage  8 лет назад

      +Jonathan grillo the spacer kicks out the rotor between it and the hub. This is so the caliper has the correct alignment with the rotor. Not sure yet if it adds offset but I will compare the thickness of the stock rotor if I remember.

    @MrWaidly 8 лет назад

    Hey Blake, I am gearing up to start ordering parts and get this in over the next month or so. The parts list includes the lines, the pads, and rotors and all the goodies needed. I have a 2010 WRX - if I follow all the parts listed I shouldn't need anything else right? You linked hawk HPS pads front and rear. But this is only a front swap right? So would the rears fit on my OEM rear calipers? Also, did you ever upgrade the rears?

    • @MrWaidly
      @MrWaidly 8 лет назад

      Also which do you recommend for non-race pads? I don't do AutoX enough to need those honestly.

      Those stock AC Delco ones I show will work nicely.

    • @BlakesGarage
      @BlakesGarage  8 лет назад

      Nope I have only done the fronts. They only make a kit for the fonts. And you can upgrade the rears to Subaru 2-Pot calipers if you want. But I haven't yet and have had no issues.

    • @MrWaidly
      @MrWaidly 8 лет назад

      Ok, I'm stoked. Started buying some parts today, hoping to get the rest next week. I was contemplating getting the 06/07 4/2 pots set up but I can't stay away from the sexy look of the brembos!!

    • @BlakesGarage

      Subaru 2 pot rears or Brembo rears.

      Id love to get Brembo for the rear to go with the front set, but i cant find them anywhere. Even called shops on the east coast and they only send out front/rear togather. Sorry to bother ypu with this issue, just need a little help. Thanks again, wrench on.

    • @BlakesGarage
      @BlakesGarage  8 лет назад

      +Nbr1PHaN nope that's the best one to order it took three days after I ordered them to restock. They were out when I ordered mine and it took a week to get them.

      +Blake's Garage ordered the calipers, and gonna take my time building out the kit. So for the brake lines I should be getting ones for my model 2015 wrx and not for sti or ctsv? For pads anything for 05+ sti or ctsv?

    860 just for front brake kit ?

    • @802Garage
      @802Garage 8 лет назад

      Compare it to the price of an STI kit.

    • @BlakesGarage
      @BlakesGarage  8 лет назад

      For all new parts its a steal. You can do it for around 600 with just basic pads and without steel braided lines.

    • @802Garage
      @802Garage 8 лет назад

      +Blake's Garage Yeah bare bones this is still a great deal. Buying a used set from an STI which still can require extra parts for fitment is usually $800 minimum.
      my only gripe with this setup is I wish it didn't involve ruining the knuckle so you couldn't go back to stock. Although a simple steel insert or something could fix that.

    • @BlakesGarage
      @BlakesGarage  8 лет назад

      PhantasmAMX Yeah you could always pick up some used knuckles. STI conversion is still pretty expensive. Usually you still need new rotors and its possible the the caliper threads can be stripped. Pretty common occurrence.

    do these clear 2016 wrx, 17" wheels?

    • @BlakesGarage
      @BlakesGarage  8 лет назад

      Gary Yip they will clear stock 18's not sure about 17's. My stock 17's didn't clear but could if you grind the caliper on the top a bit. I have a video showing this.
