      Hey there. It is just my preference. Connect directly to TM is better as I am having one-hop lesser in the network setup and also easier to detect as a single point of failure. If you have many devices in the network, you may need more time to look into one by one which causes the problem.

    • @loubeng3665
      @loubeng3665  3 года назад +2

      Sorry for the late reply. Maybe the speed is slightly different but negligible as you add on another hop on routing in the network environment. I removed the Unifi Router because it is a lower end router and I want to have a single point of failure to determine when problems. For example, if the Internet is having an issue, you need to troubleshoot both the Unifi Router and Deco. If you remove the Unifi Router, then you only tackle the problem in Deco. Plus, I don't want to have so many devices connected on my cabinet. One more power source and Wifi Interference if you do no turn off the WiFi radio in the old Unifi Router.

      A black list is to stop device to connect but how do one knows who to black list when one does not know their Mac Address?
      With a white list, I can allow all those in the white list to connect.
      Password can be & will be passed to many unwanted others.
      Also can be hacked.
      That's why I am still using old tp link router 941 as Main router & access point router in my business locations because of the mac filtering function.
      Presently I am using the DECO in my house for testing & speed is good
      > (Unifi 100). speed is always about 80 to 90, sometimes it goes beyond 100. Better than before.
      My Business location is Unifi 300 but I only get about 30 to 60, the most is about 80.
      I think the old tplink941 cannot "grab" the Unifi 300 speed. Right???
      I am thinking of using DECO as main router & the second Deco unit to connect to my old tplink 941 as Access point with mac filtering.
      What do you think?
      Will the main router & the second Deco GRAB more speed from UNIFI 300?? & TRANSMIT OUT AS WIFI WITH BETTER SPEED?
      Sorry for the long question & statement.
      I understand if you have no wish to answer me. Sorry for troubling you
      MY APOLOGY.
      THANK YOU & HAVE A NICE DAY
      ps: I think I will buy another set of DECO for more testing. LOL.

      @@putianren Hi there, sorry for late reply. Did not come here often. Each product functions differently. I think this Deco is meant for home use instead of business use. You can only block the device when it appears in the listing. This Deco is useful for parental control though. But if you want to control numbers of user to connect to your wifi. Probably you can set your DHCP Server start IP and end IP. When you have new user to be connected, just amend the end IP and allow that one user to join. And also make use of Address Reservation.

    How do I find the Maxis PPPoE username and password without calling to Maxis helpdesk? Because the owner is in overseas. I have the existing maxis router password. But I don't find the username password. (unlike TM unifi). Any solution/suggestion?

    • @loubeng3665
      @loubeng3665  3 года назад

      Hi there, I think if you can get details from the owner (I assume is your relative/friend) then it is easier to resolve. You can use the Maxis Chat support and pretending you are the owner. They will ask you couple of questions to verify your identity. Usually, they will verify your identity by your registered name, IC number, last payment methods (when and how much), etc. Once verified, then it is easy for you to get back the Maxis ID and password. But to my knowledge, the current router should have the PPPoE details. Maybe can look around again?

      1 storey & 3 storey have less than 100Mbps.
      2) Can bypass the existing route and connect direct from the modem?? IF bypass the TPLink router, the fixed phone line will not work because there's no phone port on Deco M4

      @@NTChung25 Yes, certainly it can be connected directly to the modem instead of your existing router. That would be better as you are having lesser device to troubleshoot.
