    Great video! I love packing videos! I also travel carry-on only and one tip is to switch to solid products instead of liquid where you can, e.g. shampoo and conditioner bars, solid perfume, even solid moisturizer. Love these things since they don't count towards the very small amount of liquids you can bring haha. The lifestraw waterbottle would be very convenient, I have considered getting one!

    • @ProbablyLost

      I have never ever heard of solid perfume but that is a GAME CHANGER. Thank you for sharing! We really love the life straw & they have all different sizes/products for travel needs. Great company!

    I would recommend a Scrubba laundry washer bag, a quality multitool, a Crazy Cap 2 self cleaning water bottle, a clothes line, and USB batteries to add to your list.

    • @ProbablyLost
      @ProbablyLost  2 года назад +1

      These are FANTASTIC recommendations. We'd love to have a multitool with us but I'm afraid we may not be able to take it on flights. The USB batteries would be a game changer though!!

    In our experience, hard case carry on luggage is the worst. It gets damaged, it breaks, it weights lots when empty, the wheels are useless in most streets. Soft luggage that converts to a backpack is superior in our experience in every single way. You can wear it and walk when you are heading between places, it's flexible and does not break. If you over fill it, it just naturally expands.

    • @ProbablyLost

      Interesting! We have used the Away bigger carry on for 2 years now and never had a problem with it. Countless cobblestone roads, flights, buses, you name it! It's not let us down so far.

    • @JayandSarah
      @JayandSarah 6 месяцев назад

      @@ProbablyLost there is really no positive returns for a hard case luggage system, you can ask any world wide motorcyclist this and find the answer. Soft luggage gives you way more flexibility. It's maybe not good for brand deals, but this is the facts for normal people.

      @@JayandSarahI hate soft sided luggage. Not everyone wants to travel like you and if you purchase high quality gear you shouldn’t have to deal with all the issues you described.

      @ProbablyLost  2 года назад +1

      FOR SURE! We've definitely encountered some loud Airbnb's thus far but normally we just throw in headphones to drown it out but at night, that's not exactly the best option. Earplugs are a great idea!!

      That's amazing!!!! It's such a beautiful area & we honestly miss it every day. Andalusia kinda became a home away from home for us. Crocs are always a favorite of ours. We brought flip flops with us but we have pairs of Keens at home that we think may be of better service for us once the weather really heats up. They're also great for rocky beaches, which are almost everywhere in Europe LOL. Enjoy it and send some of that warm weather our way!! 😂😂😂

    Hello! Love watching your videos! My husband and I plan to travel full time once retired. We can’t wait and have been preparing. Thanks for all the info! One question….how have you guys dealt with Schengen rules of 90 days out of 180? Thanks, Deb

    • @ProbablyLost
      @ProbablyLost  Год назад

      Hi Deb!!! We're so happy you found our channel!! I'll admit, we've not watched this video in awhile so it's reminded us that we should probably do an updated packing video🤣 With regard to your Schengen question, I'm really happy to hear that you guys are thinking about that. It's incredibly important to keep track of. We are planning to put together a video soon that's completely centered around traveling Europe for a year legally. But in the mean time I'll give you a shortened rundown. So we kept in mind during our time in Europe that any time we were in the Schengen, we were on a countdown that we had to follow pretty religiously. In order to spend the 6 months of the year in the Schengen zone, we had to spend 6 months out. I'll spare you the full breakdown & go in depth on that in the video that we're planning, but we essentially spent about 45 days total in Great Britain, about 11 days in the US, 18 days in Montenegro, 15 days in Albania, 6 days in Bulgaria, 35 days in Romania, 7 days in Serbia, & 45 days in Croatia. Unfortunately Croatia's no longer an option as of January of this year, but there's still PLENTY of places to explore. If we were to do it again, we'd spend a bit more time exploring North Macedonia, Kosovo, Romania (INCREDIBLE country btw), & Bulgaria. Although you can't go wrong sitting on the beaches in Montenegro & Albania. We staggered a lot of these days to make sure we didn't break any rules so we'll film a full breakdown in the next month, but hopefully this helps! Feel free to ask any additional questions in case you have any. We're more than happy to help. Thank you so much again for watching our video!!!!😊 (also apologies for the insanely long response LOL)

    Any drastic changes since this video? Have you had issues flying with these as carry-ons? (The rules are definitely not enforced the same way at different airports even if the airline is the same.)

    • @ProbablyLost
      @ProbablyLost  Год назад +1

      Hi Mauno!! Great question. We've DEFINITELY had to cut down a lot of the things that we have, but the bags are still the same. To your point about baggage size enforcement, you're completely right. We flew a lot of different airlines throughout the year in Europe (including I believe every single budget airline) & we only got in trouble for our bag sizes once. These Away Bigger Carryon bags are a bit over the size limit for most airlines, but outside of a Ryanair flight from Milan-Bergamo, we never had a problem. It's kind of frustrating too because they fit perfectly in the overhead bin compartment. But we flew A LOT (31 times) & really never had much issue. We're planning to film an updated full-time travel packing video again soon so hopefully that'll shed a bit more light on the topic as well. Thank you so much for watching our video!!!

    Are both of your bags able to be carry on the plane? Is the backpack your personal bags? What size is it. And do you fly Delta?

    • @ProbablyLost
      @ProbablyLost  2 года назад +2

      Hi Michelle & welcome to the channel! Our backpacks have been our personal items throughout our travels thus far & our Away Bigger Carryons have been our actual carry-ons. The Nomatic 30L backpacks are 12.99 x 9.06 x 19.69 inches. Definitely not small but not overly gigantic. Thus far we've not had any issues with any of the airlines we've flown with. That list would include Vueling, Iberia, RyanAir, & Aegean (we're flying WizzAir & EasyJet in the coming months so I can update you on those as well if you'd like!). We've got some Delta miles but haven't flown yet with them only because they're a bit pricier in Europe than the other budget airlines. However we flew with Delta about a year ago while in the States and didn't have issues at all with our bags. Overall from what we've learned thus far, as long as you purchase or select the option for a carryon with the airline you're flying then odds are you won't have any issues with the airline when it's time to board the flight. Hopefully this longwinded response helps🤣 & feel free to ask us any other questions you might have!!😊

    • @me-lg1yw
      @me-lg1yw 2 года назад +1

      I’m glad you asked the question because I had the same question about the size of the bags. I guess it’s true what they say about the camera adding 10 pounds. That must apply to bags as well as people because those bags look huge. I’ve been on a lot of flights where they eyeball my one bag and say we’re gonna have to check that and then they measure it and it’s good but my bag looks a lot smaller than each of those. Maybe you two are just really tiny people and the bags just appear big next to you.🥸

      @ProbablyLost  2 года назад

      @@tijay8507 Hi & welcome to the channel! I wanted to get back to you on some of your points as they're definitely needing a bit of clarification. Ryanair & EasyJet both allow a personal item, meaning a backpack/purse. However I will say our backpacks are a bit big for personal items, we've talked with Ryanair employees who've told us that they don't mind as long as the backpacks fit underneath the seat in front of us, which they do. We thought maybe this was a one-off scenario, but we've now flown Ryanair five times (most recently yesterday) & had no issues. We don't want to mislead, but rather share what we've experienced. You're correct with regard to the carry-on, this does need to be paid for (as we mentioned in our original comment). When booking you can choose the "Value" option which is the cheapest option & only allows a small bag (basically a personal item). However as I mentioned in my previous response to Michelle, a carry-on like the Away Bigger Carry-on has to be paid for (more specifically in the form of a "Regular" fare which is still cheap relative to US airline fares that we're used to). I hope this clarifies some things we've previously said & best of luck in all your future travels!

    Hi I am from India. We are planning to travel to spain in april. Can we bring dal, rice to spain ? Is there anything not allowed to carry?

    • @ProbablyLost

      Unfortunately from the research we've gathered, food products of just about any kind cannot be brought into Spain (or the EU) from India. However I will say, the major cities of Barcelona & Madrid have very thriving Indian communities so I'm sure you'd be able to find Dal in just about any city you visit!
