- The story is set in 1933, approximately 7 years after the events of the first film. Rick O'Connell is now married to Evelyn and the couple has settled in London, where they are raising their 8-year-old son Alex. When a chain of events finds the corpse of Imhotep resurrected in the British Museum, the mummy Imhotep walks the earth once more, determined to fulfill his quest for immortality. But another force has also been set loose in the world... one born of the darkest rituals of ancient Egyptian mysticism, and even more powerful than Imhotep. When these two forces clash, the fate of the world will hang in the balance, sending the O'Connells on a desperate race to save the world from unspeakable evil, and rescue their son before it is too late...

Best one out the whole trilogy, I understand he was the villain but considering he gave everything he had to try to bring back the woman he loved and endured a curse all through that as well just to be abandoned by her by the end kinda made me feel bad for Imhotep.
Trilogy? What 3rd movie...
Don't tell me you're including that Tom Cruise thing
@@DanteMishima hell no, that was trash, I mean the tomb of the dragon emperor
@@mariolemus12 oh yeah... I had forgotten about that one
@@DanteMishima no worries 👍 a lot of people do tbh 😅
@@mariolemus12 Yeah there was sometime between it and this one.
For some reason, I recall watching it in reverse orde
Most amazing mummy movies ever, beautiful setpieces, fun cast, funny writing and overall a memorable experience. Too bad Mr Frasier got wronged so hard
I agree fun movies I think we all agree horrible CGI Dwayne The Rock Johnson
He’s a king to me still
These movies are definitely some of the fondest parts of my childhood
What happened to mr. Frasier
@@oyaoya5200 he was sexually assaulted by a director
This was probably my favorite movie from childhood. The first film was great but the scares got to 9yo me and i ran out of the theater once or twice for a breather. This sequel was just so much fun
Growing up I would watch The Mummy and The Mummy returns religiously with my family. I really wanted a 3rd film shame we never got one.
I see what you did there
We did lol
But I’m sure you’re joking. Technically we got a forth.
YES IT IS A SHAME WE NEVER GOT ONE. 😵
Agreed we never did
I was in a group home when this dropped and it made me feel closer to my brother who'd watch The Mummy with me everyday on VHS before I left
I know that feeling
Aww, the brother returns in a way :')
Why were you sent to a group home?
God bless u sir
Man same here in Ireland we call them residential homes but same thing and also this movie and the first we watched all the time and we all bonded over it still talk about it with the guys delighted u made it through!
The CGI Scorpion King was restrored by Corridor Crew, respectively. The CGI on the Anubis Army looks pretty impressive.
We couldn’t cg humans back then to be fair. But yea still the CG wasn’t the best. But it wasn’t the worst for the time, budget and the amount of CG. Always take o to account the amount of CG
@@jessejive117 true for the time no other cgi humanoid was created besides the HULK a year later, and even that looked decent but still from its time of the early 2000s.
The eyes always look wrong in the CG humans in the early days of CGI, i.e. "The Polar Express", etc.
This was probably my favorite movie of all time as a kid
One of the best interpretation of the Mummy franchise put to film
Thanks for exploring this! Definitely a fun movie, though I agree that the first one had more character, humor, tension, and plot. Imhotep was much scarier in the first, especially what he does to the hapless Americans. Still, the second flick did launch The Rock on his way to the huge action star he is today.
Yea the first one was scarier
Anything with Brendan Fraser is a must see for me. 💯🔥
The CGI hasn't done well, especially the Scorpion King, but regardless, this sequel is a classic.
No CG from the 90s or early 2000s has aged well though.
Not bad for 2002 lol
The first two mummy movies hold a special place in my heart and memories, my childhood best friend and I ALWAYS watched them when we got together every chance we got. I remember watching the first one at her Halloween party and her dad come out as a mummy to scare us but we knew better lol and because of these movies, I went and researched a lot of Ancient Egyptian mythology, I have a few art work pieces that were made with papyrus and depict ancient Egyptian life. Now I wanna go watch the movies again lol
One of my favorite childhood movies
YES YES YES YES YES THANK YOU IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS, I LOVE THESE MOVIES SO MUCH THAAANK YOU
Brendan Fraser is definitely one of the best parts of the Mummy Trilogy. I'm so glad he's back and finally got the recognition he deserves.
It was a quite enjoyable and worthvile movie in all honesty
If only they had a few machine guns for the final battle against anubis's army....
Fun fact: The Rock's battle cry "Haku Machente(?)" translates to "It's hot as Hell out here"!
These movies are still some of my favourites to date
This sequel was excellent I loved it
“Oh no. Not these guys again!”
I used to find some of The Mummy Returns scenes so frightening when I was eight years old, I did cry at the beginnign scenes with the macabre ressurection of Imhotep and have later nightmares when my late older brother brought the VHS of this film to watch it with the f*mily in the middle of the night.
Gotta say the 1st and 2nd were masterpieces.
These movies were basically my childhood, in both English and Spanish
The mummy trilogy is one of my childhood favorites
Pure nostalgia...
The Mummy and The Mummy returns are so good man
I love your reviews and how you tell about what happened behind the scenes as well. Really love your content!
Despite The Scorpion Kings CGI being awful I really enjoyed this movie and thought it was pretty good
I remember being 11 years old watching Smackdown and they hyped the hell out of this movie because The Rock was going to be in it. When I watched it in theater, I was utterly dissatisfied that The Rock was barely in it. But overall, I enjoyed the heck out of this movie.
At least he got a spinoff movie that launched his acting career.
I’ve wanted this since I requested the mummy a year or so ago! Time flys! Omg I love your videos!!
I like the movie because Rachel Weisz is in it but I can never forgive that hideous CGI effect when it came down to the Rocks face when he was The Scorpion King.
As much as I like this franchise this movie was such a disappointment after watching the first one that first one was legendary so much fun I can watch it every day once a day and never get bored of it
@@187mrsmith it's a lot better than that trainwreck of a third movie.
Till this day I have it on
Collectors edition full screen dvd 📀 old case lol
It a fine line between faith and coincidence!! Like that!!! As always a great video!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
"The edges have been smootherd out..."
How absolute dare? The mummy and the mummy returns are pinnacles of a perfect movie. Good day sir! 😄
These two movies and The Fith Element are 100% my favorite movie. Yes I do mean all three because they change in status on which of the three is at the top of my list daily.
I just finished re watching this movie last night! It's actually not that bad it's enjoyable
Always a joy when you take me back to my childhood.
Love the content bro, I put my AirPods in and cut concrete all day listening to your videos. Keep it up and God Bless.
I appreciate that
Happiness Injected. 6:17am in Philippines.
Hey Raymond!
This movie is on The Guilty pleasure train. Movies so fun and exciting. They sincerely don't make movies like this anymore.
Hello there, also this video just reawakened a memory of seeing this movie at a friends house a long time ago (galaxy far far away jkjk) and finding it terrifying.
100% agree i love these films as a kid so much so i loved any archeological movies like indiana and mummies and so many other but these two films are my favorite of all time. I did enjoy the first movie cuz it has that horror of the mummies and world ending that the second lacks but its true sequels always dont have that organic feel anymore
The originl Mummy was just so damn good, from beginning to end I loved all of it
it was nice revisiting the characters and TMR has a charm of it's own.highly enjoyable movie
Letsss gooo
While not as good as The Mummy, this is a solid addition in my book. This also paved the way for Rock's solo Scorpion King film that has absolutely nothing to do with scorpions or this series, which I am still upset about.
Can literally watch this movie all day!!
The mummy was watched at least 5 times a year growing up for me
I have been meaning to watch these movies
This movie was dope
I remember as a kid how betrayed I felt when the mummy‘s girlfriend didn’t try to save him😰
It's creepy how I've been doing a movie a day for the past two weeks and almost every single time, the movie I'd watch would then be your screen recap the day after
Love these movies. Saw them when I was a kid and I became obsessed with Egyptology because of them. (I didn’t pursue it later in life this is not that kind of story 😅)
I wouldnt mind a new entry. More things can be explored. How theyve done the previous movies makes it very open for writers to experiment with fun ideas. Feels like it takes itself seriously just enough and cast was great.
Especially with how much they deal with reincarnation. You could literally just have the rock be the main character and have an Brendan Fraser play an old Rick O’Connell.
I remember playing the mummy returns ps2 video game lol. You got to choose between playing as Rick or Imhotep through different kinds of missions. It was pretty fun.
Great timing Niyat seeing as today is The Rock's birthday 🥳
Let's GO!!!!
It's interesting how The Mummy trilogy suffers the same horror trilogy downfall like Jurassic Park, Terminator, and Alien with a amazing first movie as a horror, then an action adventure sequel that is still good, then a lack luster 3rd movie.
All Hail Brendan Fraiser!
My favorite movie series from my childhood!
Thanks for bringing this up the second movie was not bad thanks to this movie the mummy the animated series was created
What a fantastic movie. God I loved the first 2 Mummy films. Classic gold
Good night niyat! My favorite movie of all time
I was pretty exited when they announced production of a Mummy remake. I saw the Boris Karloff original on tv when I was around 10 yo. This was in communist Cuba and we didn't have a television set. I saw at my uncle's house whose backyard was back to back with ours. The movie ended after midnight and I was scared shitless to walk back home in the dark. I stopped halfway to piss outside and while doing it I felt something touch my lower back, it was my dog chippy who stood up and put his paws on my waist. I pissed my pants, I nearly shit, and almost passed out. The original Mummy, to this day, is as creepy as can be. The first remake with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee as Imhotep, 1958 I think, was also excellent. The scene when the mummy is resurrected and comes out of the swamp was scary as hell. The 1999 remake was amazing, I only wish it was a lot less humorous. I was disappointed with Mummy Returns and I agree with you, way too much CGI and no substance. It was CGI overload in my opinion. However, I also agree with you on preferring to watch it over the crap being put out these days.
I was a child when I saw these films and I eagerly waited every year to watch them again
I loved the mummy the mummy returns & scorpion king
The first 2 mummy movies are just great action adventure movies.
It's a damn shame that Brendan Fraser doesn't get more credit for these movies. He did such a better a universe than Tom Cruise.
Ancient Med-jai(yes I am sure I spell that wrong but don't care) "We will make the traitor priest immortal and be eaten alive by scarabs for all eternity!
Dude next to him scratching his head, "I don't know man......doesn't that mean he'll have god like powers if he's let out of the sarcophagus?"
Ancient Med-jai, :Who would try to explore a literal cursed burial ground with untold amount of warnings?"
Evelyn "Hold my tools"
I wonder why O'Connell didn't fall into the chasm to the Underworld. He stapped the Scorpion King with a smooth non-barbed spear. It shouldn't have help him up. I just never noticed before.
Brendan's Fraiser mummy movies are the best!
My Favorite One In The Franchise!
Frasier sucks how his life got ruin..... To me he is still an amazing actor and all the pain he has gone through he deserves a better life.
That CGI Rock/Scorpion will forever haunt my dreams
Thanks for the video!! See you later!! Stay safe.😁
First time I've clicked on a video by a big youtuber with "no views"
The mummy aslo had a animated series
Loved the army of Anubis as a kid, shit, even now! Awesome!
Brandon Frazier the 🐐
Brandon was such an inspiration and role model when I was growing up….
The first mummy came out when I was 6 and I immediately fell in love I remember having the VHS tape Nd I also remember multiples of time I used look threw my families movie collection browsing on what I wanted to watch Nd coming across this series Nd watching them 😩😩😩
I am a little biased because I saw this one before the first one, but I do prefer this with the exception of the CGI they used for the Scorpion King at the end. Even at the time that was just bad
Awesome movies besides the last one
The mummy movies are a part of my childhood that I watch them once a year. I was so happy meeting Brendan Fraser that the mummy marathon will be a yearly affair in my household.
I honestly thought that the concept of the Scorpion King turning into a centaur beast was interesting on paper. I mean, some of the details on the cgi model looked pretty solid to start out, with the overall body shape, multiple pincers, and corrupted veins. Emphasis on “start out” because, if the vfx crew had more time to render the King properly, he would’ve been a solid movie monster instead of a rushed effect.
LOOKS TO ME THAT IVE GOT ALL THE HORSES
HEY BENNY LOOKS TO ME LIKE YOURE ON THR WRONG SIDE OF THE RIVERRR 🤣🤣 great 2 Mummy movies, absolute loved them both ❤❤😁😁 the cast and storyline is just amazing
I want to see the Scorpion King himself a video!😁 And I know why he went hero to villain in the first place.
Rachel weitz was sooooo gorgeous in Mummy 2. She will allways always be my top 5 celebrity crush.
I just remember all the controversy around this movie about how bad the CGI on The Rock's character was that was the most impactful thing from this movie which says a lot
That wasn’t the most impactful thing though. So it doesn’t say a lot.
That CGI Dwayne Johnson is one of the funniest things I've ever seen
I know right.
You, me and the movies did a watch of that, and Mrs movies reaction in mere seconds was hilarious because that's how I felt when I first saw it 😂
And yet when all is said and done The Mummy Returns is still better than the Tom Cruise remake but this is my opinion and opinions like critics should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Loved both the original and the sequel! Although the original pulled it off better, I think the 3rd one was really good to honestly, it was nice to them explore another culture and landscape
Can you do Roger from Promethea love the video
I really liked the semi serious comedy of the mummy movies
They nailed the anubis army
Film comics events I like you take a look at an examine and analyze and view compound v I had been featured in the boys television / comic book series will you do that for us please 🥺 ?
Sure buddy! Adding it to the list
That movie is still entertaining.
My favorite part is the opening scene where the Scorpion King fights.
The cgi definitely wasn’t bad for 2002, it wa the first time a humanoid being in cgi was made besides the HULK a year later which wasn’t bad for the time either.
💙 Oded Fehr 💙 as much as I enjoy watching both Mummy and Returns, I was disappointed with the CGI Scorpion King... but I'll still watch, regardless 😍 hope you are well, Niyat! 👍
Oh yes! Oded Fehr was ALL that and a bag of Doritos in these movies!
I suggest:
Horcruxes (Harry Potter)
Dragons (Inheritance Cycle)
Orca, Goblins, and Uruk Hai (LOTOR)
The Dark Curse (Once Upon a Time)
OM ANPU NEB-TA DJESER
I was meh on the mummy franchise but any time the Rock does a sword and sandal movie I love it. So very happy this franchise gave us Scorpion King 1.
Will you be doing the Michelle Yeoh installment?
Do ifrankenstien or priest those are cool movies please 🥺
Those movies are guilty pleasures of mine
