Well, the asteroid hit earth from east to west, should it rotate around the sun in opposite direction?

A odd orbit is not needed. The intersection of two bodies is a combination of the their motion vectors, and very often the resulting arrival angle is counter-intuitive. I spent a summer modeling orbits and watching asteroids crash into planets -- typically the difference in the inclination of the orbital planes is the biggest factor -- and they most often wind up arriving north/south more than east/west. Exactly why the Chelyabinsk asteroid arrived from the east is something I am investigating.

Here's the answer (looking at my model) -- during daylight on Earth, if you look to the east, you are looking in the direction of faster objects catching up to us -- much like looking over your shoulder when merging into highway traffic in a car. If the asteroid had arrived at night, it would have passed west to east for the same reason. All of this is very very relative.

@@encellon it was early morning though. Is an object rotates in the same direction yet faster than earth able to hit that area?

@@XuguangLeng -- Yes, the Earth's gravity dragged it over the horizon. If your torso were the Earth, and you are facing the Sun, you are moving through space left to right. The Chelyabinsk asteroid was also orbiting left to right -- but faster. When it arrived, it passing in front of you, your gravity dragged it closer, and it hit your right shoulder (the location of sunrise). I hope that helps to visualize this.

@@encellon well, the astroid hit earth at the speed way larger than the earth escape speed, so it was not captured by earth gravity. Also, the speed proves it could not be passing earth from the behind.
