Hello, I made discord only to help you improve your skills with sculpting head.
    Discord Link : / discord
It's a beginner tutorial at first we start with simpler shapes and form. That way we make a good base from which we can more more in-depth and this way we can slowly increase the details and complexity of over project while not making it to complicated on workflow.
This is the whole series mash together for people who want to learn everything in one go. This tutorial contains how to sculpt: Head, eyes, nose ,mouth, ears, neck! Whole video is full on explanations and overdraws with annotations to show you thru the artist eyes!
After the first half of the tutorial the sculpting becomes more advanced and shows how to polish the look of face features to reach the next level of sculpting.
This tutorial is aimed at the beginners but have in mind that this is sculpting tutorial and in it there is not a lot of explanation on how the program works! The video focuses on teaching the head sculpting itself and not the program! So before the tutorial starts I highly recommend for audience to watch and learn the program from other tutorials like Blenders guru doughnut tutorial series.
Tutorial series to help you learn sculpting head with simple techniques and overdraws with explanation and commentary.
Starting with making the simple head and then going more in depth how to make it look more professional
Tutorial will be useful for person who just beginning to sculpt heads or for someone who is trying to do it but struggling.

Your tutorial is really great, but one major thing, is the symmetrical/mirror effect you gave, you didn't gave any info, it took me 1 hour to find how to do it :(
Btw if any one is wondering its in the tool/workspace tab then go activate the X in the symmetrical option.

It's a late comment but, if you're an absolute beginner, and you think you're going to come out of this video doing a professional sculpt or even intermediary, you are not, and I'm not saying you can't but it takes time and practice, A LOT of practice, It's good to watch tutorials to learn some techniques is good, but stop watching 5-6 hours of tutorials and think to yourself "now I'm a pro", just take the techniques shown in the video and apply them by yourself. You're going to improve much faster.

I read people say that you don't need to know 2d art to create 3d art, but as someone with art background, I can't fathom learning 3d sculpting from scratch. I am in month two of blender learning and just got to sculpting. Thus far this step feels to me the most natural and easiest after 12 years of fine arts. 3d sculpting is much easier than 2d art but I know the reasons of why I move things the way I do and that feels like an irreplaceable perspective that happened over years of art. Blender is just amazing! Can't wait to learn rigging and animation next!

This is the BEST tutorial for beginners. You dont have to model EXACTLY what his head model looks like, but use the tools and directions he is showing you to make it your own, that's how I learn. My head doesn't look exactly like his, but I kinda made it my own style while following the video and applying the knowledge he gives. I may stick to this method of sculpting. 10/10 would do again many times.

I think this tutorial is more inclined to those who at the very least understand the basics of blender. I do not think this is a beginner friendly tutorial, as I myself just started blender and am hunting down tutorials to learn how to use it and I am definitely having trouble not only keeping up but understanding the proper use of all the tools as well as hot keys. I will return to this tutorial once I have a much better grasp of blenders functions, etc. If anyone out there is a beginner to blender try the donut tutorial for beginners it is very good.
I love the work you did in this tutorial, The head came out beautifully and I hope to one day reach your level of skill with blender. I did enjoy the tutorial even though i stumbled my way through it for the most part. Great job, Love the content.

    0:00 Basic Head and Neck
    FEATURES
    8:42 Nose
16:06 Eyes. Anatomy Tips: Eyebrow ridge should hang over the top of the eyes just a bit. The outer edge of the eye socket should form part of the "edge" between the front planes and side planes. Inner corner of eye socket should always be lower than outer corner or at the same level, but never higher. East Asian people's top eyelid folds over the bottom one at the inner corner, making the top one follow a nice curve. No racial differences in outer corner. Eyelid thickness should be consistent. Also, eyelid thickness shouldn't be too small. If there's a slight visible shadow between the bottom of the top eyelid and the eye itself, you've probably got good eyelid thickness. Inner corner will also be slightly deeper into the face, so don't let it be too flat. Sculpting Tip: Use Shift+CTRL and click drag to lasso draw a mask.
    24:34 Mouth
    31:20 Ears
    41:15 Refining the Head

At top left side I have vertices count try matching the count first, that should make easier to follow the look of mesh, next thing I do smooth the surface a lot, only thing is that with tablet smooth brush destroys the details less

Lips and eyelids are still tricky but i can tell thats just me needing practice :D
Ignore the people complaining for attention. This is a fantastic tutorial, and much more helpful than the others ive followed so far. A lot of the bitching just seems to be people who havent practiced in this medium to any proficiency yet expect to be a AAA artist overnight.

This tutorial is great! Whenever I try to smooth my mesh in blender, it seems to sand out too many details. I notice that when you use smooth your mesh retains its features perfectly, while still smoothing out the surface. I was wondering what settings you used to get this result? I can't seem to figure it out, any help would be appreciated.

I'm using tablet and when I'm smoothing I do tap only lightly on the surface so the brush becomes weak. Try playing with the smooth brush strength to find that sweet spot !

    • @stana1980
      @stana1980 2 года назад +3

You could use scrape brush instead of smooth brush that will remove crust of the surface and not the valley so some details are preserved.

Took me like 10 times of re-watching the first 60 seconds just to follow along, not counting pausing. No doubt you do great work but use too many keyboard shortcuts without explaining what you are hitting. Not really for a "beginner"

    • @justtisarts4635

This tutorial is aimed at the beginners but have in mind that this is sculpting tutorial and in it there is not a lot of explanation on how the program works! The video focuses on teaching the head sculpting itself and not the program! So before the tutorial starts I highly recommend for audience to watch and learn the program from other tutorials like Blenders guru doughnut tutorial series.
