I have been influenced and started Harry Potter today hahah
I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for watching!!
I ❤ Sirius!!!!
Gary Oldman was great in that role for sure.
@@AlmasBookJourney yes Gary Oldman was great but as you read through the series you'll realise how great of a character Sirius is, the movies left so much of him and all the marauders.
I just finished re-reading the first Harry Potter in the illustrated edition. It is so much fun to see all the extra backstory and details from the books vs the movies. My 5th grade teacher read our class the first book, then we had to wait a year or so between each of the books to be released! I loved seeing you experience the books for the first time!
I just found some illustrated editions at Meier today. So beautiful. I bet that was a cool experience reading those. Waiting a year for book series is tough!!!
I’ve also seen the movies but I when I was younger so I loved that I didn’t remember a lot so it was like experiencing it for the first time. I’m currently on book two 🥰I didn’t think I’d love this series as much as I am.
I was surprised how good the book was. Even though it was pretty short it packed so much information in it. And you really got to know the characters. Thank you for watching!
Yes! Seeing the characters from
the movies as I’m reading!!!
I can't help that.
@@AlmasBookJourney me either! Not sure if it’s a blessing or a curse lol
Loved seeing you read this for the first time!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Yeah the films were what I grew up with although I did try to read the books but couldn't get into them! I love your book cover! Watching your vlog has actually made me excited to try reading the 1st book, which I was not expecting!!
Thank you for watching! I never ever had a desire to read them since I had already seen the movies. But recently I have heard how good the books really are as compared to the movies. It was a fun read.
Your voice is so soothing! Loved your reading vlog of my favorite series. Def subscribing for this 🤓⚡️🪄🏰
Thank you so much! I really enjoyed reading this book for the first time. I now understand why so many people love this cast of characters.
I really enjoyed hearing all your thoughts on the chapters! Now that I've started rereading this one, I want to reread them all 🙂
I have book 2 so I may read that later this month.
@@AlmasBookJourney ooo let me know if you do! 🙂
I’m doing the Readathon and excited about it! I love that you got to read HP and the Sorcerer’s Stone for the first time! Jelly Belly makes Bertie Britt’s Every Flavor Beans and there is a vomit one and earwax, dirt, etc. 😂
Really a vomit flavored jelly bean??? yucky! I'm glad you are joining in on the readathon.
@@AlmasBookJourney I actually got a vomit flavor one once! It was gross 🤢
@@eMsBooksAreEverywhere oh no! How awful!!
I started reading the Harry Potter books in 2002 when I was 16 and the first four were already out. I'd already watched the first movie before reading them so I remember enjoying all the extra detail in the first book. Then I got the next three books on release day and the last one at the midnight release. I was disappointed with every movie after the first one because of how different they were and how much important detail was left out. I hope the new tv series does the books justice. I'm glad you enjoyed the first book and I hope you continue to read them all
I wonder too about the new series they are going to start. Maybe they will be more faithful to the books. I have book 2 so I may continue on.
I always thought it was interesting that they changed it from Harry Potter and the philosopher's Stone to Harry Potter and the sorcerer's Stone
That was something new to me. Cheryl @candlewicklibrary said they changed it for the American audience.
I was 10 when the first movie came out and went to see it with my friend for her birthday. Then my parents got me the books that were out. I bought book five on release day and the last two I went to the store to get at midnight.
I bet that was fun when they first came out to wait in line with other fans.
@@AlmasBookJourney it was quite fun! And I had friends we would see there.
In one of the later books, we find out more details about why Harry was left with the Dursleys.
I knew there had to be more to it!
Sirius and Lupin were also played by actors older than their characters.
I do love both those actors that played them though!
@@AlmasBookJourney they were good. And with how much they had both been through, a more aged appearance than the characters' ages made sense too.
They made jellybeans with all of the Harry Potter flavors once.
What?? Those were some crazy flavors!!
@AlmasBookJourney yeah, they may still do them but it was a big thing when the first movie came out. You could get all the Harry Potter themed things.
There are more reasons why Dumbledore left Harry with Petunia, Vernon, and Dudley. You find out a bit more in book 2 and in book 6 it is fully explained. I was going to make a few more points but figured I'd let you find out on your own.
I am looking forward to reading on in this series! I want to know those reasons. I love when authors leave little hints along the way as they create their stories. Fun to go back and see them. Thank you for watching!
They did start the movie the same way, it's just a short segment.
I missed the beginning when it was on TV. I will have to rewatch someday.
