In track and field we run in uniforms that say Puerto Rico right alongside an American wearing a USA uniform. Furthermore to be considered “part” of the USA wouldn’t we have to be a united state? Which we are obviously not, according to the response of hurricane Maria. Also, don’t know if you know, at one point the USA experimented with birth control in Puerto Rico rendering an overwhelming amount of Puerto Rican women infertile. Not to mention the bombings the US had been doing for years in Vieques. All reasons why we differentiate ourselves!
