If you want to see the full list of 20, be sure to check out our Patreon! I’ve made this post public, but we’d appreciate your support if you wanted to join in as a patron! :) www.patreon.com/Tablenauts? Also- some of you may notice this is an update to a ~7 month old video. That actually wasn’t intentional… but I’m going to pretend it was. Sometimes I just forget stuff I’ve already talked about. Hope you enjoy the updated list and new discussion regardless. 💜🫡
BotC is simply incredible and I agree with everything you said! Over the past month I've put together a group of 20 people and each week 8-12 of them have been coming over to play. Everyone has a good time, previous games get talked about throughout the week, and most importantly everyone is excited to play again! I'm constantly impressed by how much BotC appeals to such a wide range of people & interests.
The Cull Master is at it again. Love it. The only one on YT that inspires me to stop buying games. I cut my collection down to 4 pennies, a thumb tack and a broken rubber band, but I accidentally threw out the rule book😮
To sum it up Obsesssion has action selection and resource management. And its one of my favorite games of all time! Great list Max, you definitely seem to love all your picks.
I rarely see people mention Bezzerwizzer. I had some roommates several years ago that I played Bezzerwizzer with all the time! I haven't played several others on this list, so I'm interested to try them. Good work, great list!
Mine: Mage knight Spirit island Robinson crusoe Turing machine Under falling skies Search for planet x Set a watch Bloody inn Hadrian's wall Raiders of scythia
Terrific list! I like how personalized it was. So many lists---particularly when limited to so few games---have all the same games, like it's some sort crime not to have a 75% overlap with everyone else🙄 Your choices are truly your choices & it's an interesting selection! Thanks!
Wits and Wagers is a good trivia game. You get more points by betting who knew the answer than by knowing the answer yourself. Great for people who don't know trivia. Sounds Fishy is good too. Half trivia, half social deduction; you read the question and everyone else tells you possible answers, trying to deceive you about which one is correct. Harder to find, because I dont think theres a retail version, is Um Actually. It's based on a game show made by CollegeHumor. It's all nerd trivia about anything and everything nerds love.
These are some good ones! I think king would be: Street masters Spirit island Trickerion Marvel champions Azul Everdell Ark nova Ruins of arnak Death May die Diamonds
This video has me wanting to look at my collection and see what I would narrow down to. I’m also waiting for your next cull video when you get rid of obsession since you said it’s going to be in the collection for a long time 😂. Love the video. And board game box office is a great podcast
Great video! Solid list and a fun thought exercise. It always surprises me how much Crokinole has taken up residence in the board game space though. It feels kind of like saying Pool or foozball is your favorite board game. Internally I shuffle really distinct super-genres within table top gaming to their own categories. It doesn't really feel fair to compare RPGs, or massive card games like Magic the Gathering to a contained board game experience, and games that require something like new furniture to play resides in its own space for me
It is! I haven’t played my copy of immortality yet, actually just got it last month I think. But I have played with someone else’s copy and really enjoyed it!
I am not a fan of hexa quest just because it is still very trivia heavy. However, I do love the game terra, which is trivia but more board game like. Still really simple to play, but it gives you a fighting chance even when you don’t really know what The subject is.
Keeping my eye out for a copy of Obsession. Very intrigued by it (no pun intended). Sadly I haven't actually played any of the games on your list.... Outside of one play each of Blood Rage and BotC. Adding them to the list!
Rising Sun? Jeesh, Chris George much? I am curious to see what Eric does with Blood Rage 2. I think the base game has some issues with balance, and that is maybe why some people love it so much, but I'm curious to see what designers do when they get a chance to do a new version of a beloved game.

Blood on the Clocktower is one of my favorites, too. And I never get tired of watching others play it online
It’s so good. I’m with ya. Playing, watching, whatever. It’s an absolute blast.
@@Tablenauts What's your favorite non-base-script character? Mine is the Al-Hadikhia

Mine:
Mage knight
Spirit island
Robinson crusoe
Turing machine
Under falling skies
Search for planet x
Set a watch
Bloody inn
Hadrian's wall
Raiders of scythia
Great list. I need to think about this question, too.
Also, how is Blood on the Clocktower just soooo good??? How is that possible????
Great list!! I really want to get my hands on Awkward Guest. I'll finally be playing BOTCT later this month.

I love that point about lies in Blood on the Clocktower. One of the best gaming moments I had was playing this with Jeff and you at PAX Unplugged.
It was so fun Bryce! Would love to play again someday :)
The Godfather is never considered in a Eric M. Lang list and it is really a solid game.
Nice editing additional I know that takes time!
Ok the editing cutting you off was hilarious 😆 😂

Ugh. I commented before you got to too many bones. This is now the greatest list ever. Way to go max. You’re a hero of the people

Isn't that Dune Imperium Immortality on the shelf still in wrap?

Oh man, the editing on this. I almost did a spit-take at 1:10.
Isn't CDMD a Lang game?
Where's Poetry for Neanderthals? I heard it's one of the all time greats.
Ha! I enjoy it, but it doesn’t stack up to Monikers imo ;)
Keeping my eye out for a copy of Obsession. Very intrigued by it (no pun intended). Sadly I haven't actually played any of the games on your list....
Outside of one play each of Blood Rage and BotC. Adding them to the list!
Definitely do! They’re all stellar imo. Hope you’re able to track down a copy of obsession sooner rather than later :)
Rising Sun? Jeesh, Chris George much?
