Glad that The Mandalorian is bringing Star Wars back though, and hopefully Infinite does the same for Halo (Though the MCC has been great lately too). Thank God. I didn’t even have to do this mission lol. Just had to speed run the first two and then when booting up this mission I got it. Kinda surprised I had been that that fast in legendary on my previous play-throughs though. Thought I’d have to cut down my time on at least another mission or two but I ain’t complaining. Thanks for the awesome guides, gonna be speed running Halo 1-4 now, already had done Reach and all Lasos are out of the way as I wanted to just get that torture over as soon as I could. Only got 40 achievements left before I too become a “Halo completionist” lol. Well at least for mcc, kinda thinking OG halo 3 and Reach will be hard to 100% but might give it a shot before the servers are taken down

To everyone on PC, do yourself a favor and use a program to limit the game to 30fps. AI reaction speed and damage ticks are tied to frame rate in every halo game pre 4. Trying the strats showcased in this video on PC otherwise will be very frustrating, as it becomes entirely luck based. If you somehow manage to make it past the first group of enemies you'll likely get cut off by the wraith after highjacking the ghost and melted by its gunner. If you somehow make it past them, you'll get finished off by one of the multiple ghosts down the road before you even get close to the first health pack. Locking the game to 30fps so that the AI behaves the way it was originally designed makes the strats in this video a lot more doable if you can stomach the low frame rate long enough.
got right up the end within 5 minutes, the game crashed so I had to reload the checkpoint and I finished the mission within 8 minutes and didn't get the par time achievement for it... thank you game -.-
got it in 17 mins, got the par score and the achievement for it too. didn't need to destroy the wraith at the end bc dutch blew it up with the fuel rod
I have the worst fricken luck with the MCC. I finished this about 15 seconds faster than you did using this guide, and I get to the end and the cutscene won't happen. Everyone's dead, and I spent about 15 minutes running around making sure every possible thing is dead. I swear I have a problem nearly every level.
So I'm assuming the non-MCC method of flying the banshee over the wall no longer works? I tried it, including waiting for the load zone but I couldn't get over the wall.
halo3productions911 I tried it and was able to get over the wall, but when I flew down to the door to open it up and trigger the enemies in the last section it wouldn't open. I didn't try for too long so I'm not sure if I missed something or it just got patched in the MCC. In any case, there's plenty of time to get through this level without that trick. I thought they may lower the speedrun achievement from 3 to 2 hours for ODST since it's much shorter to begin with, but I guess not.
The 3 hour achievement surprised me too. It may sound weird, but I kinda wish they would drop it to 2 hours. There's virtually no challenge. Or at least drop it to something that fits with ODST. I can't find much on MCC ODST speedruns. Probably because it's too new. Sure it's supposed to be a direct port, but we've heard that before. Also, you're not supposed to open the door. Don't believe any enemies are supposed to trigger. Fly over the wall, and into the door for a bit. I assume that's for a load zone. Then proceed like normal. Dutch should spawn into the final area.
Need some advice at the start, the initial ghost capture, I seem to get creamed generally running past the Wratih. I can avoid it fine but either the 1st ghost turns nad chases me, or the 2nd ghost opens up and kills me so easily. Is there some tips/tricks for ghost driving to keep me from being killed so fast? Holding A doesn't seem to help, nor does aiming my vehicle at the firing enemy while driving past.
Are you using some kind of hack to change enemy behavior? I cannot get that Ghost in the first room. It is not possible for me. Every single enemy in the courtyard rounds all their fire on me and I die. I failed 30 times in a row and rage quit. What am I doing wrong?
same for me, the first encounter I just get shredded and brute shots kill you in one hit, the brutes just watched him walk past. Are you playing on PC? It might be the increased Tick Rate that is making it harder.
update: changed my setting to 30hz refresh rate on my GPU settings so it capped to 30fps, after like 10 or so tries I got thru that first section with like full health, but the banshee AI sucks, its been 10+ mins trying to get one and then you just get shredded after. Might have to go with the Tank strat. EDIT: Just found out I never hit apply on my settings, i was at 60fps. Still a decrease as I was on my 144hz monitor on uncapped framerates. Moved to my 60hz and changed mcc options to 60fps. Reset id say around 20-25 times for my successful run, 99% at the beginning and once at the banshee portion.
Just got a 10:59 with the banshee strat, had to reset and get thru that beginning portion tho, it seems a LOT more consistent when I decreased my framerate. Just blow thru all your grenades and rockets on the brutes, then focus with smg any brutes remaining to keep them from firing their brute shots. You die in one shot. Walk backwards most of the way to the phantom shooting at anyone who targets you, like jackles so you can stagger them. Then just follow the guide after, I got shredded in the tank so i used banshee. Check out Nak3d Eli's video for the banshee strat. First room is also a bit RNG on brute ranks and where they spawn, on my run where I lost no health the brutes stayed back in the corridor for some reason, u got this bro!

@@Zeqweery yes it does you bum. they have updated mcc version to 60hz which makes ai react twice as fast and do twice as more damage.

Just do the level normally and you should still get the achievement
