I agree with everything you said towards the restoration. I cleaned up lots of very rusted chrome without sending it out and I’ll be the first to say, I even surprised myself in how beautiful they’ve came out on my restorations.

It came with 1 pc Power series cranks. It also needs clear grips and a decal set. I agree with keeping it as OG as possible and removing as much rust as possible without re-chroming. I'm restoring a 95 right now.

I actually have the same bike if it’s 1994. I polished it and added some chrome gt fork standers and some black tuffs. The bike looks amazing. I say patina always looks better. It’s only original once. Great vid. Greetings from Oceanside California. Stay RAD 🤙

Great videos and very good info your giving for all things old and new school bmx. I agree with you on this GT cruiser refresh. Clean and polish up that original chrome finish and it'll shine like new again. The old chrome plated bmx frames were much better quality than todays chrome. It's only original once, so save it if possible.

I've been restoring BMX / Flatland bikes for years and your suggestions are 100% on target. I have yet to see a frame re-chromed that looks good. You risk losing a lot of the detail in the welds. Also anything aluminum can be high polished to look like chrome. I would also skip powder and go with paint. Some powder is just too thick. The OG finishes from the 80's are not powder but paint.

11:04 if you have a lot of rusty components on your bike, take them off and put them in a bucket of vinegar. Let them soak in the vinegar overnight and when you take them out in the morning you have no rust on your components 👍🚲💨

Brand new chrome looks amazing. If the customer was willing to spend the money I would do it. Especially if this is going to be a carpet queen. Sure you can remove the rust and polish, but it will not look like fresh new chrome. Plus the rust will just return eventually and the chrome will start to flake.

.0000 steel wool with WD 40 !!!! ,Will take that surface rust right off .Wont fix pitting but will remove surface rust. Then use chrome/aluminum polish by hand with a micro fiber towel . I did it with a chrome 1984 GT Performer that sat outdoors for decades n the Phoenix AZ 115 deg summers and monsoons. LOOKS LIKE IT JUST CAME OF THE SHOWROOM FLOOR IN 84!!! Love ur old school BMX imfo and how to vids !!!! BAD A$$$$$$$ !!!!!

Don't rechrome just clean with acid, that pro series 24 is most likely a 95 or 97. If you look at the rear dropout the serial number will be xx95xxxx the second set of numbers is the year first 2 set of numbers is the month.
Also i have those Weinmann decals 2521 if you need some nos ones. There is also nos saddles on ebay just like the one on it. Sweet 24 can't wait to see what you do with it.

Love this vids Phu and Alf, great content and accurate. Sest is not be original but close enough. Those hubs tho, yes they are often wrecked with those lines when people try restore, possibly strip the old chrome with a light hand polish and clear anodized? I would not rehome the frame either. Sest clamp was the gt double bolt. Keep em up dudes, love it🔥

depends on how bad the rusted pitted damage is. Fresh chrome makes the bike beautiful and new. The old chrome shows the age.. it really seems to be about what do you want to feel when you look at the bike.. Christmas day freshness or you have a historical artifact from back in the day that has been worn out..
