When there was a massive oil spill in south korea, over a million citizens came out to clean it up. Here in the states, all we do is complain and point fingers at others.
Yep me. Apparently the government of Mauritius is also providing free haircuts in salons because hair soaks oil too. Quite impressive I must say. But the damage is horrifying.
@@bhumikakukreja488 Well now tge government is doing some action but when the massive boat started to sink at first, nothing was done and when the whole ecology is being destroyed, it's too late and to be able to fix this disaster, months and maybe years even will be required
A-ZProductions102 Techniques/technology for pumping isn't the cause of spills usually, it's a lack of careful procedures by energy companies. Environmentalists can lobby for greater regulations, but energy companies and people who want cheaper fuel (basically everyone) will lobby against you, directly or indirectly.
A-ZProductions102 I am not against money, I mean how else could we have everything we have nowadays? What I am against is greed. Greed is the source of everything wrong with the world, in the past present and future.
It’s interesting because more oil is deliberately spilled into the ocean year than accidental spills, but you never hear about it. Deliberate spills are much smaller and so they are much harder to detect, which means likely won’t ever get cleaned.
I am not sure what they are called, but I got spill matts on my truck that don't soak up water worth a shit, but go ham on oil. If you spill coolant and oil together, you throw them down and it will just soak up the oil, in seconds. Leaving the water behind. Sooo...those are readily available since about 2009.
jonathan_g We laugh because our body does not know how to respond to the sensation. That is why some people can't be tickled. Because they were tickled too much and the body knows how to respond to that sensation.
Atomic Charge Wrong. "Evolutionary biologists and neuroscientists believe that we laugh when we are tickled because the part of the brain that tells us to laugh when we experience a light touch, the hypothalamus, is also the same part that tells us to expect a painful sensation." -BBC
ShadowBlade Although, I might be wrong, but they also said that it's what they believe in. I am guessing they have to do more research. But again, I might be wrong, like many other less informed people on the web.
Or we can leave it alone and let nature do its work... Like every college level textbook says... The aesthetic level goes down, but it's not like the human oil spills won't disappear. Every solution we have other than just physically removing it has done just as much harm as leaving it alone(with more money spent). Note: this episode is basically a car commercial since it just says "here's the options which fail that aren't even recent news, and the solution is to let it be until we find a better way".
When someone gets tickled, they laugh. They laugh because of a type of cell in your body that is called the nerve cells. When something is in danger such as stress and physical actions, it reacts in many ways, like drinking for stress out fighting someone if there are any physical actions.
Once oil is in the nature, oil is part of the nature. Spills are not always because of human tech-things but! It's in an amount that can't be taken out of the ecosystem! Maybe the biggest parts but small bits and pieces stay.
I think the new idea for magnetizing oil called "The magic Wand" looks more promising then anything currently being worked on. The idea is to mix iron dust and using a magnet pull the oil a skimmer. The advantages are the iron bits can be separated and reused and completely no toxic. It can also be used in conjunction with other technologies. Plus it can be ready now.
Wouldn't the iron bits be ingested by sealife, i dont know what happens to the fish that ingests the iron but the people who ingests the fish will have problems
Considering that this sponges consume oil, I wonder: Why we can't consume it as well? Should be very efficient energy source. Let consider, oil(petrol) vs oil(cooking). We load our cars(for example) with petrol, but not with cooking oil. Not because it would not work, but because of poor efficiency. Why not the same with our bodies. It shouldn't be very hard. Maybe just 1 enzyme is the spark needed. After all they are namesakes. Petrol contains much energy and is considered organic, I think.
How can gas / oil get cleaned up in a river? Do cities have resources to deal with a spill? Is time from when it started an important factor in these situations?
There's no way a hydrogen car that gets basically the same fuel economy as a Prius and is powered by hydrogen from natural gas is going to be a viable alternative to oil. This is why the oil companies have invested heavily in hydrogen to begin with.
I find it disappointing that there was no mention in the video of Paul Stamets' work. the link provided by @dobotdobot contains info relevant here. Oyster mushrooms will take oil and convert it into sugars while transforming the area into a place for new life.
How does ocean clean-up for disasters like oil spills need to be changed? Often times more than 10% of the oil remains on the surface or ocean floor continuing to harm the environment that they are in. #livetree #oilspills
Hydrogen fuel is cool as a stand alone process- with water and heat at the primary byproduct. But to make hydrogen fuel, you need natural gas- so we are still left dependent on a limited resource (a resource made toxic by horribly unregulated fracking practices in the US). I don't think we should portray hydrogen fuel as the fuel of the future- it is sill dirty
"environmentally friendly" cars are good because they decrease CO2 emissions and all but at what cost? some need among other metals lithium and lead for the batteries, and these commodities have to be mined, this process has it's own environmental problems such as soil pollution etc, so what's the balance on this? looking at this from a sustainable development point view, does reduced emissions really bring more benefits than the adverse effects mining has on the environment?
I'm confused as to the difference between D News, Seeker, and Test Tube. They all seem to be pretty much the same. All I can figure is Test Tube normally has the most interesting stories, Seeker the most weird/boring, and D News the most politically charged.
Is head transplant even possible? I've seen articles and news of success when it comes to animal testing. But what happens if the human head transplant is A success? Are there limitations? Does both person under this procedure must have sameblood type, or whatsoever. we need answers.
That's great that Toyota is developing a hydrogen car, except for one problem. Hydrogen fuel takes a lot of energy to produce. And that energy may well be derived from fossil fuels. People should focus on electric cars that are fueled by solar panels, at least in the southwest or other areas where solar panels have good penetration. Elsewise electric cars could be fueled by wind power and other renewable sources. Hydrogen cars are not all they're cracked up to be.
Something I've always wanted to know and was seeing if someone on here or if D News could do a video on this, Why do some people have naturally straight teeth while other have to get braces to get straight teeth??
please please please... i want u to teach us all how to read... how to read effectively n how to keep reading for long hours? how to complete book in a week, that is 600pages... please suggest.. i want to increase my want to read. i know it is imp... but i am not in habit n in resistance .... its good for me but i am not reading....
Can animals recognise different languages, for example if a dog is born and trained in spain and has been told commands in spanish all its live, will it understand the same commands in english i have a feeling it goes by the tone of youre voice rather than the command
When speaking to a classroom, you might not want to start with the word "suck"! There are too many synonyms out there to use instead of the street slang that teaches our kids to be rude, its not okay to be crude in a professional setting... no wonder our younger generations are losing their impact -- unless they throw a fit.
Yes, oil will go away by itself. Think of all those ships that were sunk in World Wars I and II. Nobody cleaned up all that oil that got spilled. It decomposed.
Aren't Norway kinda better with oil spill because they are drilling in the northen sea and with drilling there they kinda make stuff that is helping with this stuff is it would happend?

Who came here for mauritius
Instead of improving ways to deal with oil spills and just directly kill the problem and improve oil pumping techniques

Anyone else here after the Arctic Oil spill?
This girl looks really pretty in HD.
or on the D.
Andres Ricardo Nigga she pretty in 144p
Andres Ricardo Actually to me any lady that is not obese and has a good heart is beautiful.
Yes!!!!!!..I'm in love
de0509 you can't assume she is has good heart jut because she talks about science; so innocent..
How about not having spills in the first place? It really easy to clean up a non-spill... as if you don't have to do anything...
I am not sure what they are called, but I got spill matts on my truck that don't soak up water worth a shit, but go ham on oil.

We've a major oil spill in Chennai, India. It happened last week. Sad part is it happened in coast.
One year I spent the summer sand blasting a rocky shoreline in an attempt to hide the mess an oil spill caused - it paid for my university that year!
I'd like to know why we laugh when we are ticklish.

Have you looked into a product called OSE II, Oil Spill Eater II, made in Dallas Texas, incredible product
Was this an advertisement for toyota mirai? 😂
I mean only a part of it was, but still 😂

mix butter soap and water and that is the solution to getting oil off you if youre at the beach.

QUESTION for the Dteam: How does our body create earwax?
headphones had ants once and my build of wax saved me.
Day backround music tho
Not going to talk about oil dispersants?? Like Corexit?
does anyone actually watch this because they want to.
Did you guys hear he cove crack 2:17
I got an idea maybe make the oil companies spend more money to make sure the spill doesn't happen in the first place
hello mam can the oil spill can be adsorbed by waste plastic (PET)

or we can stop using oil we need to save mother earth man we gotta live of the sun and keep mother earth clean

I came up with an economical cheap logistical solution. It still needs work. I wonder who i should tell.
what is it?
An sponge conveyer. With multiple squeeze rollers. That put the oil into seperatory tanks. Like on a boat.
Got some coffee filters if you want
Oil floats to the top obviously
How about we just don't use oil, now that's an idea.
But also you forgot burning
