    Don't buy this case if your GPU uses heatpipes. Only buy it if you are going to watercool your GPU or use passive cooling.
    I was a long-time user of cases with vertical mounts - I still have my Silverstone FT02 and FT05 - and while they were great for GPUs with blower coolers like my GTX Titan X I cannot recommend them for air-cooled GPUs with heatpipes. I had a RTX 2080 Ti and while at first all seemed well, after some months it began to overheat. It was fine in a flat or upright position - I had no problems when I laid the FT05 on its side - but in a vertical position - when the FT05 was stood back up - the problems would recur.

    • @lesliegrace8360
      @lesliegrace8360 Год назад +30

      False. This claim about heatpipes performing poorly against gravity was a misconception that was brought up in 2010s when Silverstone had an inverted layout. GamerNexus has proven it that heatpipes and vaporchamber doesn't have direct correlation with gravity. IceGiant on the other hand works differently as that requires gravity to flow liquid in the heatpipes.

    Not quite sure why you wouldn't do a quick tweak to get the 7950x running with Curve Optimizer and improve its performance and take 20C off its temps. I know you like to keep things stock, but it's not a realistic example of how people with any know how (or ability to read the internet) would run that CPU. Then we could see the cooling in action. You said you were surprised that the custom loop did not reduce the temperature - it can't because the 7950x in default will just keep drawing power as long as it is hitting 95c - so you would only see the difference in that it would maybe draw a bit more power and a touch more performance if the heat dissipation was superior. Did you notice any particularly higher power draw?

    I would not buy this case, because i only like the differen layout. The rest ist nothing to for me. But. I really hope this way of Mounting or similar gets more popular. There are aready a lot of things that should be different, like the I/O situation. This can easily made way simpler and faster to use. But i really kile the Idea of a "hanging" GPU and the different approach on Airflow direction.
    A smaller, more simple Version would be nice. I would love a few versions from different manufacturers. GPUs got so big, the classic mounting feels absolutely off to me. I remember when i got my 8800 GTS in 2007(?). And that looked chunky in comparison to what we had before. And now, my "small" RX 6600 is already double the size of that and is a fairly small card nowadays. The Mech x2 from MSI.
    Great Review as always, thank you. I am really looking forward to more cases of this style. I also always loved the different look of BTX.

    Love the idea but every one who is reviewing this case is doing it incorrectly. This case is designed for traditional horizontal airflow or upflow chimney style airflow. Not Both at once! If you populate this case with fans like in this video you will have flow issues from turbulence (Air collisions) creating vortexes and dead spots. If you use a down fire air cooler this case is a dream setup. Water cooling will be simple and straightforward just pick a flow pattern. This case is designed for any air flow pattern you could want but if you just willy nilly fill it with fans and rads you're going to have problems, big ones.

    Looks like a good 2023 case, where custom water-loops are making sense. So in the case you could simultaneously run three 420mm radiators (front & back & side) & use three extra 140mm fans (2 at bottom & 1 at top); does that sound right?
    That would give amazing complete system cooling (could water cool GPU & CPU & gen5 SSD & even DDR5 RAM), for increadible boosting, efficiency (fans would barely have to turn so low energy usage), long hardware life, and pretty much silent operation. And if you got all those fans as RGB, with RGB cooling blocks on CPU & GPU & SSD & RAM, it would look AMAZING!

    • @Dexx1s
      @Dexx1s Год назад +1

      Well, they don't officially support 420mm radiators, only AIOs, which is strange. You could probably add short 420mm radiators on the front back and side but I don't think it could then take 4 140mm fans in the bottom. I'm actually trying to find out if Corsair 420mm radiators would fit in the front and back and then add a 280 on the bottom or something.

    • @TimLongson
      @TimLongson Год назад

      @Dexx the Duck think I will stick with my plan and get a Cooler master HAF 700 at the end of the month then. But it seems weird that so many case manufacturers seem oblivious to 140mm fan based custom water cooling.

    • @Dexx1s
      @Dexx1s Год назад

      @@TimLongson They're not oblivious. They marketed it as being able to fit 420mm radiators, and even let channels doing coverage at CES explicitly state that you could add 4 420mm radiators. I think they realized that radiators can be rather large and backtracked. I see no reason why a radiator smaller than their 420 AIO wouldn't fit.
      Plus, the HAF is way more expensive so that's not an option if consider. I would order this case and return it if it doesn't fit, but I'm not American and would have to import it so returns are expensive. Eventually, somebody's gonna get the case and would be able to test it.

    • @Dexx1s
      @Dexx1s Год назад +1

      Effectively those two CPUs run at the same temperature however one explanation could be that the Core i7 has fewer cores so the core density is higher than the Core i9. The most likely explanation is that Core i9 gets the best silicon while Core i7 is not as good and hence less efficient.

    This case has more room than it knows what to do with it. As Leo illustrated once you put a waterblock on a GPU it kinda shrinks in size. Sticking with air cooling for the GPU looks like the best option to fill out the empty space. That leaves the CPU cooling on water. While you could do that there's still not much use for having triple 420 or 360 on a CPU which makes it a little bit pointless (bar the because you can argument).

    You do a build on this and the next time you do another build you need a new case because some new gimmicks are mandatory, like usb type D or E or whatever new stuff on the front IO. A PC is a tool to do work, not something to look at. Just get me something silent, small and powerful, and leave the rgb and all the gimmicks out.

    People should now certain GPU dont like vertical mounting, you get crap temperatures. Like reference RDNA2 cards hot spot goes to 110c. I have my Silverstone FT02 on it side because of this.

    • @lesliegrace8360
      @lesliegrace8360 Год назад

      I had an FT02 as well. Vertical mounting gave me no issues with all GPUs I have used over the years - reference design or non-reference design. You might want to check the fan speeds for the bottom fan facing the GPU. Or you might want to repaste your GPU as the contact may have come loose.

    • @cristiant6566
      @cristiant6566 Год назад

      Amd gpu have issues because some of the cards have vapour chambers so having them in a vertical mount etc limits the cooling of the liquid in the vapour chamber
      Aka the cracking die saga of the 7000 series gpus

    • @lesliegrace8360
      @lesliegrace8360 Год назад

      @@cristiant6566 You do know vapor chambers are designed to be insensitive to gravity right? At least majority vapor chamber designs are made that way. I wonder if it's an AMD issue 😁

    • @cristiant6566
      @cristiant6566 Год назад

      @Leslie Grace when they are mounted in a hanging configuration like this case the longer heat pipe is at the very bottom of the card
      Shorter ones are at the top so the longest part contains the liquid that the die is yet to convert into gad to goto the top of the card to be reverted
      The liquid stays cool by being further away from the die. If the die was at the bottom of the card heating all the liquid to turn to gas at the top to cool it would be perfect in that orientation
