WOW what a frustrating decision!! I am so tired of these "updates" actually making the product worse and removing features. They need to start calling them "downgrades".
You can still use the old editor which has the shadows. Very disappointed they took it away and added some other useless stuff. Hopefully they bring it back in the next update. Those shadows are a game changer.
Yes me too. I've heard a few different answers from support, ranging from it's not coming back to there's just a few bugs we need to smooth out. I think it's far too popular a tool for them to get rid of altogether. Just a matter of time I hope!
I had a lot of images done with the erase background tool.. I then went back to the old version, to add some shadows to others.. AND ALL of the erase background reverse themselves! so goodbye older version editor haha
I found this because I was wondering the same thing! I really hope they bring it back!!..... Also, I've noticed some other annoying things. Like, you can use the background remover but then you can't use magic edit etc. You have to use one or the other, which is v annoying.

So the option 2 workaround is for us to have to do more work? This is no dig at you, but at Canva. Absolutely baffled that they can consider this an upgrade. At this time of writing, the old editor is only available for a few more weeks, so it looks like option 2 is the only choice. Gah!
Oh no, you certainly should have it. I wonder if it's a bug or something in your account. There's a couple of things I don't have that others do, so it's possible. I'd say your next step would be to Canva to ask why. We can't live without drop shadow!!

Yes, that's where it's located in the old editor, however it's not available on the new editor just yet. good thing is we can switch back and forth where needed.
No, it isn't a problem at all Emily. Some designs lose their edits if you revert back and forth mid-design, but if you prefer the old editor that's fine for now.
I've seen that shadows is back today in the new editor, yay! I'm so pleased. But I found it a little glitchy, so I dare say Canva are still ironing out some wrinkles. But FANTASTIC to know it's coming back!

It's super glitchy :/ and move my entire image out of place (and resizing it) as if the main image is the shadow and it's being offset off the actual shadow. Oh Canva, hopefully they fix this, God knows why they even removed it in the first place. Thanks Michelle!

Hey! Canva does still have the shadow effect, although not for all elements. I've just checked and the shadow effect seems to be available for photos, text and graphics, but not for frames or shapes.
@@fernandquill sorry for not being specific, there was backdrop shadow effect which is not available anymore, this is different from the drop shadow effect which is still available at the moment. It was such a good feature, i dont know why they removed it honestly

finally someone said it! i use the shadow fx because i use it as a sticker effect to create a white outline :( now my design is jeopardized

I was so happy when we finally got it awhile back and now it's gone! I will probably revert back to the old editor here and there to use it.

If you are trying to put an outline around a square image you could put a solid box in a layer behind.

I know, hey. But I believe it was due to a few issues with it that they're working on. Fingers crossed it'll be back soon.
Seems as though users can toggle back & forth on old canva & use features, then back to new canva & use features. Hope that helps!

theres a shadow named 16:9 frame with shadow that has just saved me... I too prefer the new editor LOL
