Dune is a 1965 epic science fiction novel by American author Frank Herbert, originally published as two separate serials in Analog magazine. It tied with Roger Zelazny's This Immortal for the Hugo Award for Best Novel and won the inaugural Nebula Award for Best Novel in 1966. It is the first installment of the Dune Chronicles. It is one of the world's best-selling science fiction novels. George Lucas who directed Star Wars was heavily influenced by the book.
27:00 When they are making coffee, each Fremen sucks some water from his stilsuit and then spits it out. (Fremen don't carry canteens or water bottles. The water is stored in their suits.) Each Fremen adds some of their water so that they all give up the same amount of water.
27:16 They use "sand compactors" to create a hole in the sand, then they get into the hole. When they turn off the sand compactor, the sand fills in the hole. Each Fremen has a breathing tube sticking up out of the sand. The tubes are small and hard to see if you're not looking for them. I believe they use the sand compactor again when they are ready to jump out and attack.
34:12 In the novel, Paul stabbed Jamis in the heart, which would have killed Jamis quickly if the right side of the heart was punctured and Paul pulled the knife out. In the film, Paul is stabbing Jamis in the back somewhere around the liver or kidneys. There are some large veins there, but I'm not sure how fast Jamis would have really died from getting stabbed there.
Great reaction! Will you react to Clint Eastwood’s Dollar Trilogy: A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly? These are some of the greatest Spaghetti Westerns ever made. After that, you could check out Tarantino films, he’s the only modern director I know who still makes Spaghetti Western-like movies.
I read the book years ago; in this story, Spice is the name given to a drug that has an effect on the mind and helps navigators travel between the stars. It's not actually spices. And this drug is only found on this world of Arrakis. Frank Herbert, who wrote this book in the 1960s, saw how the Western powers were sniffing around the Middle East when they discovered oil, and that was what inspired him to write this novel.
Sadly this is actually Dunis, not Dune. The director made up far too many things not from the book because he wanted to make his own movie just like Jodorowsky. 🙄
@moon-moth1 I am not a purist, but too many things were simply made up with no basis whatsoever from the book. The 2000 miniseries is the best adaptation of Dune. The 2003 Children of Dune miniseries is also a pretty fair adaptation of Dune Messiah and Children of Dune.

Are they just guessing at the words? Do they not have audio or translation?
What language is this? Hindi? Urdu? I'm curious!
