Katniss: *PTSD, anxiety, depression, breadwinner of her family, survivors guilt, protecting her district from vanishing, unknowingly leading a revolution* Gale: "do you love me🤨? Cross "yes" or "no" for answer"
Delighted you guys understood Peeta painted Rue. For some reason SO MANY reactors, like literally 99% of them, think the Capitol did it to mess with Katniss and it makes no sense! Also, the aspect ratio changing as we enter the arena is soooo good
@@ReelReviewHQ I've been wondering if the aspect ratio change even happens on streaming. It was such an excellent experience in cinemas, tho, I'll tell ya that 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽
I think part of the reason no one knows it's Peeta is that they only highlight his art briefly, whereas in the books that was his talent and he painted actual paintings, he didn't just decorate cakes at a bakery. I think people forget he's an artist
29:50 It's so ironic how strongly the capitol react to the hypothetical fetus, as if they dont watch children as young as 12 kill eachother for entertainment every year
You misunderstood. They wouldn't care if it was the fetus of a random girl. They care because they love Katniss and Peeta and that's their baby. Just like some people love when their favorite stars have babies.
It actually was meant to be an analogy for how modern day politicians in the US value fetal tissue, while resenting already existing human children for requiring necessities to stay alive. The books were meant to provide young adults with examples of war policies, propaganda, political rhetoric, political oppression and economic oppression.
The progress from “This guy’s a prick” and “I don’t see this guy being a good guy” to “He seems like a stand up dude” with Finnick is awesome 🤣 Only Finnick can make you hate him and then completely fall in love with him
The juxtaposition of you guys laughing about Peeta painting himself as a tree and then seeing the painting of Rue 😮 made me burst out laughing. Thank you for that.
I've watched MANY reactions are ya'll are seriously the only ones who understand the pressure Katniss is under, and the fact that she had to pretend to be in love with Peeta to save EVERYONE'S lives... the PRESIDENT OF PANEM showed up at her house and told her that if she didn't convince him of her love, he would burn the entirety of District 12 to the GROUND... like PLEASE!!!
I appreciate you guys showing Katniss so much grace. She’s a teenager, DEEPLY traumatized, and she’s being pushed around a lot into making romantic decisions and declarations- fake and real. It’s probably hard for her to not only tell what’s real but also what she even feels beneath all that fear and anxiety. She obviously loves Gale because he’s her lifelong best friend (though that doesn’t necessarily mean “in love”). She loves Peeta too after they survived so many harrowing situations together and developed a real bond (again, that doesn’t necessarily mean “in love”). Trauma bonds and friendship dynamics are tangled webs even under the best of circumstances. I like that you guys understood her bond with Peeta. Some reactors accuse Katniss of playing with Peeta’s feelings just because she relies on him emotionally. But their displays of emotional closeness (like Peeta staying with her through her nightmares) isn’t inherently romantic or sexual- Prim does that for Katniss, too. And just because Peeta is there for her emotionally while also having feelings, doesn’t mean Katniss *owes* him romantic feelings back. Even if feelings are budding, those things come from genuine friendship, too. In the end, I think Katniss is allowed to be lost and confused about her feelings even if it maybe gets a bit messy. But I certainly know mine lol. This is my TED talk on Peeta vs. Gale, apologies for the length of this comment Katniss faked love for Peeta in the first games and Gale got all pissy. Yet Peeta, who was deeply in love with her and was the target of the fakery, managed to get over it. In fact, he continued the ruse despite how much it was probably hurting him because he understood the necessity. Gale got pissy when Katniss said she’s too traumatized to be thinking about romance. Peeta was willing to meet her where she is mentally. Not only does he understand she’s in no condition to be making mature romantic choices, he knows that her feelings for him are new and need time to grow organically so he never pushes. Gale got pissy about bringing Peeta along in their escape plan even though he should know that she cares about him at least on some level since they survived the games together. Peeta gave Katniss a locket with Gale’s picture, knowing that she cares about him deeply and his picture would be a comfort. In many ways, Peeta subverts expectations of a traditional romantic hero by embodying what women look for in a healthy relationship. He's supportive and kind to everyone. He sees Katniss's bravery and strength and seeks to support her in that, not eclipse it or push to balance it. He's patient and empathetic rather than looking for a fight. He knows how to show friendship and emotional support to a woman he loves without using it like an IOU coupon. And most of all- MOST OF ALL- he recognizes when he's putting unfair expectations on her feelings and accommodates in a way that shows compassion and understanding. “Pissy” will always be deeply unattractive in my book. It’s not really fair that we didn’t get to see the years of fun and friendship Katniss had with Gale prior to this and that’s probably a massive factor in Katniss’s feelings. But it is what it is. All we get to see of Gale is pissy in this movie. The “love triangle” was nowhere near as prominent in the books but I think they beefed it up because love triangles were all the rage at the time. It was the height of Twilight mania. But I wish they wouldn’t have accentuated that aspect of the plot. It’s just really not the point of this series at all.
It was the second director Francis Lawrence who wanted to play up the love triangle he said in an interview. He was primarily a video game director before this film so it makes more sense coming out of that genre. I wasn't happy with the change either.
22:20 - It's a tiny moment, blink and you'll miss it but I had to include it. When Mags volunteers for Annie (Finnick's girlfriend), he is so happy he reaches in for a hug. Mags is unable to talk but shakes her head and motions towards the camera. She was worried that the other tributes were watching. She didn't want to expose one of his weaknesses... her
The Quarter Quells are more messed up than regular Games. The 25th Games were to remind the Districts that by rebelling they were responsible for the Games, so that year the tributes were elected by their fellow citizens instead of the standard lottery. The 50th Games included double the amount of contesters (48) and that was the year that Haymitch won
One of my favourite things about this series is how it shows art as political.. Cinna with his final dress, Peeta with the painting of Rue, Katniss with her singing. All of it is just so well done I’ll never move on from it
THANK YOU for the empathy and compassion for Katniss. You'd be surprised how many reactors judge her heavy by this point. She's a child trying not to die!!!! Great reaction 🫶🏻💕😊
@@ReelReviewHQYou’d be surprised how majority of the reactions are just criticizing Katniss for giving “mix signals”.. like she was not trying her best to avoid the people she loved getting killed.
@aleeh2109 I feel like a lot of people watch it too superficially. Like, they see a bare hint of a romantic line and for some reason latch on like it's the whole focus of the movies. Reactions like this one are my favorites because they actually see the depths of the storyline.
Finally!! Also, you guys are one of the very few channels who understands that Peeta painted Rue to honor her. Most other reactors think it's something the Capitol does to mess with Katniss' head and it's so frustrating when people misunderstand that moment LOL.
@@AM-dd6dx I always wondered if maybe other reactors thought it was the Capitol because they didn't have prior knowledge of the books like so many of us fans did. But yeah, that look Peeta gives her as he's walking out and us knowing he's a very talented & skilled painter, makes it feel so obvious that Peeta is the one who paid tribute to Rue (and also gave the Capitol a giant middle finger bc how very dare they murder that sweet precious angel baby 🥺😤).
@@thecavalieryouth Yes!! The meaningful look Peeta gives her and the fact that we know he’s a talented artist should clue them in, but, for some reason, it doesn’t. 😭
@@thecavalieryouthno it’s because they talk through all the plot points but sit and watch filler scenes and start asking crazy questions when their job is to shut up and watch the thing and react to what they’re watching not analyze the movie ( and be loud and wrong 75% of the time ) while it’s happening that not even a proper way to watch movies 😭😭
Fun fact: Since Haymitch won the 50th Hunger Games he won the Second Quater Quell and for his games the twist was that there would be twice as many tributes representing double the losses of the first rebellion. So it’s 2 boys and 2 girls from each district so 48 tributes in total. Haymitch won his games at 16.
Fun fact: in the books, the game-makers were pissed that Peta drew Rue and that Katniss did what she did so they each scored a 12. The only people whoever received a perfect score. That said, it was to put the biggest target on their backs.
I was just thinking about this during the reaction, it occurred to me that they never actually mention their scores in the movie, that was just a detail we knew from the book. What's more, it made me think of the effects of capitalism. Particularly when it pertains to sports betting, corruption, and the odds (that are never in our favor). To expand on what Suzanne Collins crafted by making them bigger targets, Katniss and Peeta are presented as favorite to win by setting them up with 12's. Anyone in Snow's cabinet, anyone paying attention, and an upper echelon of capitol elite have to know the President's ultimate goal is to rid himself of Katniss in this Quarter Quell. Making them favorite to win makes betting against them an ideal investment. While the people who watch it for the sport of it are dumping money, hand over fist, betting on fiery Legolas, not understanding the game is rigged, not following that the people who are crafting the game intend to pocket the money for the very game they fixed. It's diabolical but it's very appropriately targeted to this society. Then Katniss comes in with the biggest upset (from their perspective) of the century. This is why I love our girl on fire. This is mostly conjecture, but I had to share my thought's on the effects that potentially happened outside the arena.
The butterflies represent Effie’s transformation. This is the first time we see her not able to keep up the facade and we see she really does care for Peeta and Katniss. It’s one thing for Katniss to inspire the districts who are oppressed. For her to also inspire the Capitol shows the power in her acts of humanity. The question is where is our breaking point and what does it take to bring us back once we’ve crossed it?
So, just because I reread these books all the time, I will clarify some things. Katniss still hunts but not because she's poor anymore. She likes it. And now everything goes to Gale's family because he won't take money from her (🙄). It is amazing how scary Donald Sutherland is in this. I liked when you called him a lion. He was actually such a nice guy and--at least the story he told during press--was that he wasn't considered for this role. He just happened to read the script because he likes reading things and contacted the director like "I would like to be in this" and they were like "it's donald sutherland I guess he's the President now." So they expanded the role of Snow in the first movie. He was on a CIA watchlist for his anti-war actions during Vietnam so I think the themes resonated with him. RIP. "Haymitch knows just how f--ked this is." He does. It's not included in this movie but in the books Katniss and Peeta watch a tape of his games. He also "showed up" the Capitol by using the forcefield as a weapon against his last competitor. His whole family was killed because of it. It gives new meaning to how he worked to convince Katniss to be careful at the end of the last movie because he was not. We're getting a new book about this time period in March so I am excited. "Is this part really still necessary?" The individual assessment was indeed something of a joke in the books. The victors had all been on screen so much, everyone already knew their skills. One (Chaff?) was going to tell jokes; one was going to strip (Joanna?) and Mags (who is a queen) said she was going to take a nap. "I bet they did that intentionally to have [Finnick] be able to killl [Katniss]." Katniss thinks this too, that the arena was designed for Finnick. It would make sense given what we learn in the next book about Finnick and how Snow uses him. Lucky Haymitch knows he's secretly part of the Rebellion. In the books, Tributes like Peeta and Beetee do not know how to swim (because where would they learn). Re: Jabberjays vs Mockingjays. Jabberjays are Capitol created weapons ("mutts"). They were sent out to record Rebel conversations, like spyware. They mated with regular mockingbirds to create the mockingjay species. It's a symbol of the rebellion because it found a way to survive despite the Capitol interference, and was before Katniss wore the mockingjay pin into the arena.
HELL YEAH! So glad you're loving this series. Also, a cool thing: if you go back a rewatch all of Phillip Seymour Hoffman's scenes with Snow, you'll realize that every step of the way, he's doing what he can to help Katniss and the Revolution - but passing it off as helping Snow: - He first convinces Snow not to kill Katniss immediately, instead saying "make the people think she's one of us." But he knows that doing so will only make Katniss's true colors shine through more clearly, and rally the public to the revolution even more. - Then when Snow calls for her death again, he convinces Snow to put Katniss back into the Games instead of killing her immediately - because he knows that he's actually BEST able to protect her in an environment that he controls. - And when the Games are about to start, he once again convinces Snow that she shouldn't be killed as soon as the Games begin, so she can "get her hands dirty" first. Again, buying time for her escape, while making it seem like a way to tarnish her public image.
Also, when her team is under attack, he spins the island to throw the careers off. And he stops the spinning when she falls into the water and plays the whole thing off as "lets see if they can tell time now".
@@kcallamajaji EXACTLY! Especially since the *giant lightning tree* hasn't moved, so they obviously will still be able to orient themselves and tell which wedge is which just as easily as before.
"What dress will she wear? Floggins." that whole speech tricks Snow into thinking they'll succumb to fear when in reality he knows it'll just make people angrier and hungrier for justice.
Something interesting to know, in the books Peeta actually lost the bottom half of one of his legs, so in the beginning when Peeta tells Katniss not to look at him like he's woonded she would actually be looking at his prostetic/robotic leg
(No spoilers or anything, just commentary!) Thank 👏🏼 you 👏🏼 I barely ever see male reactors who don't just feel sorry for Gale but actually recognise that it's unreasonable of him to hold Katniss' actions from the last games against her, i.e. the kiss/"romance" between her and Peeta. He also can't expect her to be head over heels for him and "choose" him after she has just survived the freaking Hunger Games and is fully in survival mode. I'm really glad you pointed that out during those scenes. I had high hopes for you two, and you didn't disappoint :D And while Peeta also went in that direction for a second during the scene on the train, he at least realised his mistake and apologised shortly after because he's the GOAT (I guess it's pretty obvious which of the two characters I prefer lol) Finnick's true character is a nice suprise, eh? He's one of my favourite characters from the franchise, which of course I didn't expect to happen when I first saw him appear. And the reveal about Plutarch at the end was also incredibly well done, especially because you suddenly notice all the signs when you watch the movie a second time! 29:31 The "Oh yeah.." immediately followed by the "Oh noo" and "Oh shit" actually made me chuckle xD That's exactly how that realisation went for me when I first watched this movie 😭 And lastly: Mockingjays are an accidental crossing between jabberjays and mockingbirds! I'm so glad you enjoyed this movie ^^ It's my personal favourite from the series, and I looove watching reactions to it. Can't wait for the next one :)
Echo you rockstar!! We appreciate you watching this with us, and it is an honor to pass the test! Let me ask if you found yourself in the hunger games, what’s your weapon of choice?
Yeah, Finnick ALSO became one of my favourite characters which I also never could have expected when he is first introduced. I absolutely did not like him in the beginning. 😂
6:26 President Snow is so, so good as a villain because he’s calm and calculated and ruthless. He doesn’t beat around the bush, just lays it out there and follows through with his threats. He’s calm in his sadism. It’s a very unsettling character. He was a masterful actor. Brilliant. And his voice has so much impact.
8:43 If you think about it, their favourite colours actually say a lot. Katniss' favourite colour is green the same colour as the trees in the woods where she goes to hunt (and in the books is just a safe space for her) and Peeta's is orange which is one of the only colours they would naturally see in district 12 but he also goes into specifics with a sunset orange which is a nice little detail considering he's a painter.
And you just made me realise - their favourite colours kind of represent each other! With Katniss being the fire (orange) and Peeta being the peace, or the “dandelion in the spring” that she references in the books (green)🥹
Guys let me tell you the whole audience GASPED in the theatre when they announced that the tributes would be reaped from the previous victors... I was genuinely devastated! But equally amazed by the ending! This series is so goooooood!
In the books Peeta severely injured his leg being attacked by one of the ‘’dogs’’ while climbing onto the cornucopia at the end of the previous Hunger Games. After they win and are airlifted out of the arena, Peeta almost dies on the hovercraft from blood loss. He ends up losing his leg and has to wear a prostetic, which is why Katniss feels very protective of him and looks at him like ‘’he’s wounded’’ as Peeta mentions at 8:27
I’m sure someone has commented this but Jabberjays (the birds that were mimicking their loved ones screams) are all male mutts that the capital made during the dark days that were used to spy on the rebels. The rebels immediately caught on and started feeding lies to the jabberjays so the capital released them out in the wild to die off, since the jabberjays were all male they couldn’t mate with eachother so instead they mated with female mockingbirds and made ✨mockingjays✨ , Mockingjays are a slap in the capitals face.
The way you guys say “baboon” was sending me 😂 this is one of my favorite movies to watch reactions to, there are just SO many twists and it’s so well done. Mockingjay Part 1 next! And get back into Harry Potter! Love you guys :)
I paused at 43:05 and have scrolled through dozens of comments to see if anyone else mentioned their fascination with saying “baboon.” 😂 And as I pause to write this, I thought of a particular scene in Harry Potter… have they watched that yet?
@@smiley353 😎 Oh, I wasn’t going to say anymore - and it wouldn’t be much of a spoiler if I did, especially out of context. That scene will be something for us all to look forward to.
after watching the intro, I now, understand why another hunger game reaction was "late"....obviously they had to book a flight to panem, find the arena, rent it (quite expensive😔), pay the extras (a.k.a the crowd). as always, enjoyed the introS🥰
Men discovering this series *and actually understanding what's going on* ! So many reactors, men especially, completely misunderstand some things. It's refreshing to see people who pay attention and understand that Katniss and Peeta are absolutely traumatised 17yo kids doing their best.
“Would you like to be in a real war?” Snow was a child in the first war 75 years ago, during which both the Capitol and the Districts committed atrocities to each other. He saw and experienced some very horrifying things when the Districts besieged the Capitol for two years. He also has a very warped view of humanity, who thinks the Games are necessary to guarantee humanity’s survival following the apocalypse that led to the fall of the USA and rise of Panem as well as the civil war that led formation of the Games.
thank you guys for taking the time to understand what katniss is going through. i’ve seen so many other reactors brush her emotions and struggles to the side and only focus on her relationships between peta and gale (mainly nitpicking her choices along the way), not understanding that she’s going through so much mentally and doesn’t really have time to think about love in the middle of a whole ass uprising. enjoying the reactions so much! can’t wait for the mockingjay ones.
Only halfway through and this is already the best reaction to any of these movies I've seen. So rare people understand so much of the unspoken elements.
you all have one of my fave reaction channels - i love how you are be soo funny while also taking the movies relatively seriously and considering/adding a lot that others might not notice
I wish they stuck to the books that Peeta loses a leg from the 74th Hunger Games and has to use a prosthetic leg and needs extra help in the 75th because of his disability, as well as Katniss losing her hearing in one ear so she gets her ear fixed by the Capital after the 74th games and it can hear at least ten times better than her other working ear. Also, to your question about jabberjays. They were male birds made by the Capital to spy on the rebels during the Dark Days before the Hunger Games were made, but the rebels caught on and had fake conversations near the jabberjays to throw off the Capital. Seeing no need for them anymore, the Capital let the birds go free in the wild, thinking since they were all males they couldn't reproduce. Yet they mated with female mockingbirds and made a new species called mockingjays. Mockingjays were basically a middle finger to the Capital.
Yes, I think Katniss’ efforts at keeping Peeta out of the Games again would have made much more sense if they’d kept his disability in. Without it, it almost undermines his character and makes it seem like he can’t do anything for himself.
When they are fighting the career pack you can see Joanna push Katniss out of the way 46:27 and Finnick dragging Peeta away from them 46:34. It’s a subtle hint that Joanna and Finnick are part of the resistance and there to protect Katniss and Peeta.
Snow wanted her to specifically kill Finnick O'dare because he was the most popular tribute in the world, extremely popular and charismatic (in his pre-game interview he made a carefully worded and extremely vague declaration of undying love to the cameras - one can only imagine how many sponsors and former clients of his he might have melted with those words) and also with a good boy reputation for trying to save his mentor. Having her kill him would tarnish her reputation with a lot of people. Having her refuse to kill him, instead, galvanized popular opinion to her side.
Fun fact: during the training scene the visuals Katniss was killing were all of the tributes who she has to go against in the games. They watched as she basically killed all of them.
The gamemakers (and snow) did think that peeta and katniss both can’t swim because there is no body of water to learn swimming in district 12 and in the book peeta actually can’t swim and has to be saved by Finnick but Katniss learned how to swim because her dad took her to a lake outside the fence of district 12 since she was a child (the lake can be seen in the beginning of the movie). So making the arena water based should have made katniss and peeta an easy target for the other tributes. And in the book it took the group much longer to figure out what the tool for getting water out of trees is for, Katniss remembered that she had seen the tool before but she couldn’t remember what it was for at first

This reaction is the one I've enjoyed watching the most in a good while. You make such good commentary, really think about things, are compassionate, it's entertaining to watch your brains working through the plot and characters, and I just loved your shocked expressions in this. I found myself laughing several times during your reaction. THIS is why I enjoy watching reactions. Absolutely cannot wait to see you react to the last two movies.
Also finnick district is fishing and water game so he's probably grown up working with a trident and the lady grew up making fish hooks for that. It's why he knew cpr and was deadly in water
I love y’all’s reactions and intros it’s a perfect comedy but also being able to understand what is happening with the plot at the same time, Also The Jabberjays were mutations made by the capital to be spies and copy messages and bring them back. Created for the great war before the hunger games. But then they were released and mated with mocking birds which created mockingjays. Snow despises mockingjays. Not only because of Katniss and it being a symbol of hope but because the capital failed to control them. They are a stain in Snows eyes. They even tried capturing and killing them but they kept on thriving even when they were being hunted down. Which gives the mockingjay so much more power to the resistance. And really grinds Snows gears. (Sorry if that was a word vomit I could talk for years about these movies and books omg)
Great reaction! I gotta say i usually don't watch people who dont post a lot, but you guys got me checking for new videos everytime i open the app! Cant wait for you to see the rest!
don’t know if anyone explained but jabberjays were made by the capitol to spy on the rebels in the districts. they look like normal birds but can record and say back whatever they heard word for word. once the rebels found out, they started feeding it false information, so the capitol abandoned the jabberjays. male jabberjays mated with female mockingbirds which created mockingjays. they could repeat both human melodies and birdsong.
In the books, once Katniss comes back from the Hunger Games, she basically becomes a billionaire and is given a house in Victor's Village (which she moves Prim and her mom into out of their hovel in the worst area of their District), and District 12 is given more food for her and Peeta winning. She then uses that wealth to buy many things every day to try to help out as many people in her district as possible. She also keeps hunting in the woods every day for Gale so that his large family can eat and not put anymore of their names into the next reaping, since Gale aged out and is now working in the mines 6 days a week and can't hunt like usual for his family. Basically, Katniss uses her newfound wealth to uplift her community.

In the book it takes them hours to find out what the spile is! you are not alone. @@FrostAndTheForest Sorry to break it to you bud, but Katniss was definitely not in love with Gale. At this point in the books i thought peeta was better for katniss. Yes he got his feelings hurt and had his little pity party, he's human. But peeta so far has met katniss where she's at, he accepts where she's at mentally, what she can and can't handle or think about. Gale always pushes her for things shes not sure she's ready for. Especially as a 16/17 year old who's experiencing so much trauma. I feel like peeta puts her first, gale doesnt really, not in the same way peeta does

effie’s butterfly dress is actually supposed to represent her metamorphosis of waking up and seeing things how they truly are
And it's a real (as in something you can purchase) Alexander McQueen design. One day I will be rich enough...
@ omg yes I knowwww
I never thought about this 😮
@@emilyk5168 The Capitol loves your comment
29:50 It's so ironic how strongly the capitol react to the hypothetical fetus, as if they dont watch children as young as 12 kill eachother for entertainment every year
Just like people in real life hate abortion but don't care about those kids as soon as they're born
You misunderstood. They wouldn't care if it was the fetus of a random girl. They care because they love Katniss and Peeta and that's their baby. Just like some people love when their favorite stars have babies.
@@ptitepeluche05 Oh you're right, I didnt think of it like that. That also makes a lot of sense.
It actually was meant to be an analogy for how modern day politicians in the US value fetal tissue, while resenting already existing human children for requiring necessities to stay alive.
The books were meant to provide young adults with examples of war policies, propaganda, political rhetoric, political oppression and economic oppression.
They love katniss and even they know it's not cool to send a pregnant woman into combat
The progress from “This guy’s a prick” and “I don’t see this guy being a good guy” to “He seems like a stand up dude” with Finnick is awesome 🤣 Only Finnick can make you hate him and then completely fall in love with him
100%
The juxtaposition of you guys laughing about Peeta painting himself as a tree and then seeing the painting of Rue 😮 made me burst out laughing. Thank you for that.
That took us out lol 😂
I've watched MANY reactions are ya'll are seriously the only ones who understand the pressure Katniss is under, and the fact that she had to pretend to be in love with Peeta to save EVERYONE'S lives... the PRESIDENT OF PANEM showed up at her house and told her that if she didn't convince him of her love, he would burn the entirety of District 12 to the GROUND... like PLEASE!!!
Ikkkk I was saying to myself YESS the whole time bc for some reason a lot of reaction videos don’t get the characters and it’s so obvious
Gale, apologies for the length of this comment
Katniss faked love for Peeta in the first games and Gale got all pissy.
@@katie8881 Guys, gals, and non-binary pals, right here we see a great example of an S-tier comment. YES to all of this 💯🎯
22:20 - It's a tiny moment, blink and you'll miss it but I had to include it.
Who on earth could judge Katniss, that’s insane
@@ReelReviewHQYou’d be surprised how majority of the reactions are just criticizing Katniss for giving “mix signals”.. like she was not trying her best to avoid the people she loved getting killed.
@aleeh2109 I feel like a lot of people watch it too superficially. Like, they see a bare hint of a romantic line and for some reason latch on like it's the whole focus of the movies. Reactions like this one are my favorites because they actually see the depths of the storyline.
33:30 they also probably assumed Kat couldn’t swim, most of her district can’t but her Dad taught her in a lake in the forest.
Finally!! Also, you guys are one of the very few channels who understands that Peeta painted Rue to honor her. Most other reactors think it's something the Capitol does to mess with Katniss' head and it's so frustrating when people misunderstand that moment LOL.
yess
Yea that seemed obvious to us lol 😂

Then Snow had his entire family killed.
I can’t wait for his book and movieeee
@@stars_in_autumnAlready preordered Sunrise on the Reaping and counting down to March 18th!
This is mostly conjecture, but I had to share my thought's on the effects that potentially happened outside the arena.
i just love in the books as soon as katniss sees the arena she immediately thinks that this isn’t a place for a girl on fire
Thats poetic
The butterflies represent Effie’s transformation. This is the first time we see her not able to keep up the facade and we see she really does care for Peeta and Katniss. It’s one thing for Katniss to inspire the districts who are oppressed. For her to also inspire the Capitol shows the power in her acts of humanity. The question is where is our breaking point and what does it take to bring us back once we’ve crossed it?
She won us over with her sweetness :(
So, just because I reread these books all the time, I will clarify some things.
After "pretty boy" Finnick won at 14, then forcing him to the capital for "pleasure" is another awful degradation.
In the book, almost all the victors don't know how to swim.
HELL YEAH! So glad you're loving this series. Also, a cool thing: if you go back a rewatch all of Phillip Seymour Hoffman's scenes with Snow, you'll realize that every step of the way, he's doing what he can to help Katniss and the Revolution - but passing it off as helping Snow:
- He first convinces Snow not to kill Katniss immediately, instead saying "make the people think she's one of us." But he knows that doing so will only make Katniss's true colors shine through more clearly, and rally the public to the revolution even more.
(No spoilers or anything, just commentary!)
Thank 👏🏼 you 👏🏼
I barely ever see male reactors who don't just feel sorry for Gale but actually recognise that it's unreasonable of him to hold Katniss' actions from the last games against her, i.e. the kiss/"romance" between her and Peeta. He also can't expect her to be head over heels for him and "choose" him after she has just survived the freaking Hunger Games and is fully in survival mode. I'm really glad you pointed that out during those scenes. I had high hopes for you two, and you didn't disappoint :D
And while Peeta also went in that direction for a second during the scene on the train, he at least realised his mistake and apologised shortly after because he's the GOAT (I guess it's pretty obvious which of the two characters I prefer lol)
Finnick's true character is a nice suprise, eh? He's one of my favourite characters from the franchise, which of course I didn't expect to happen when I first saw him appear.
And the reveal about Plutarch at the end was also incredibly well done, especially because you suddenly notice all the signs when you watch the movie a second time!
29:31 The "Oh yeah.." immediately followed by the "Oh noo" and "Oh shit" actually made me chuckle xD That's exactly how that realisation went for me when I first watched this movie 😭
And lastly: Mockingjays are an accidental crossing between jabberjays and mockingbirds!
Ooo I just posted how they are green flags for holding gale accountable n started scrolling
I remember seeing this in theatres in 2013 and the “there is no district 12”line had everyone shook
You guys are quickly becoming one of my favorite channels to loom forward to at the end of the week, your commentary is very good!

“Would you like to be in a real war?”
Snow was a child in the first war 75 years ago, during which both the Capitol and the Districts committed atrocities to each other.

This was so delightful, the amount of insight to this commentary is unreal. Rapidly becoming one of my favorite reaction channels

Kinda love the silent jaw drops from both of you 😂😊
I love y’all’s reactions and intros it’s a perfect comedy but also being able to understand what is happening with the plot at the same time, Also The Jabberjays were mutations made by the capital to be spies and copy messages and bring them back.
10/10 choice in tiny glasses for that intro. Can't wait until you do the next two movies!

don’t know if anyone explained but jabberjays were made by the capitol to spy on the rebels in the districts. they look like normal birds but can record and say back whatever they heard word for word. once the rebels found out, they started feeding it false information, so the capitol abandoned the jabberjays. male jabberjays mated with female mockingbirds which created mockingjays. they could repeat both human melodies and birdsong.

I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL MOCKINGJAY PART 1 WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO (also axe girl is Johanna)
PLEASE DO THE FOLLOW UPS SOONER THAN LATER! I love people getting to experience this movie for the first time. SOOOOOO GOOD!
The solid silence when the movie ended was amazing 😂 you guys are my favorite reactors
Much love!!❤️
“dO yOu LoVe Me”🙄 gale makes me roll my eyes out of my skull
One of those rare movies where a sequel is even better than the first movie. THIS was just top tier!
The Hunger Games movies get better with each one (for me that is). Knowing the twists beforehand is exciting bc I knew you all would be mind-blown and flipped out with this one😂 love you guys! Can’t wait for the next one!
Oh my God, I've just literally watched your reaction to the first movie, and was already sad because it finished so fast but then I got the notification you uploaded this, what a perfect timing! I guess my homework will wait another hour hahhaha
Hope you enjoyed it! 😊
The intro got me laughing my ass off. I SHED TEARS OKAY. You guys are becoming my faves.
In the book it takes them hours to find out what the spile is! you are not alone. Jaberjays are the original birds used in the war and they released them and mated with mocking birds and mockingjays were created and the capitol sees them as a reminder of their failure, Jaberjays copy voices and mockingjays copy sounds
The way got Ceaser's laugh down with the jaw is so good lmao
Undisputed kings of the reaction intros 🙌
So excited for this series with you guys! Glad you’re loving it so much
Tiger!!!!!! 🐅
You guys are SO much fun to watch as a long time lover of the books I so appreciated how much you’re picking up on
This world is amazing 🤩
Katniss only loves Gale as a friend, but she struggles a lot with wanting to be what everybody wants or need because of her trauma
What do you mean lmao she definitely has the hots for him.
In the books maybe, but in the movies she definitely has feelings for him as well as Peeta.
@@rrraven369Not really. The only times she really kisses him is more so because she feels bad for not reciprocating his feelings when she feels like she should. She kisses Peeta cause she wants too and she kisses Gale because she kinda pities him
I do not understand why so many people keep saying they have only friendly feelings for each other?? Katniss and Gale are/were in love and would have been a couple if none of this would have happened...
@@FrostAndTheForest Sorry to break it to you bud, but Katniss was definitely not in love with Gale. Sure they probably would’ve ended up together out of convenience if the games never happened and that could’ve formed into romantic love. However, that didn’t happen. Katniss loves Gale like she would love a family member, but she is absolutely not romantically in love with him.
YESSSSS I have been WAITING for this!!!
So glad!!! Thank you for watching with us!!
In the book when Katniss saw the arena her first thought was “this is no place for a girl on fire”
That gives me chills
1 minute of intro is already worth a Like! SOO HILARIOUS!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Cesar Flickermans little brothers! Perfectly presented! I LOVE IT!!! ❤
And now I am leaning back and have tea and Hunger Games with Sterling Flambe and Glitzer Rhysberry! ❤🥰😇🤗
Amy!!!!! Love you !!
@@ReelReviewHQ ❤☺
Just found yalls channel and I’m biiiinge watching! Love yalls reactions and how yall actually pay attention and don’t talk over the entire movie😮💨👏🏻 I love yall noticed that Peeta is the one who painted Rue, sooo many people think the capitol did it? 😂😂 waiting on the other movies now😁 keep it up!
I love how your guys' after movie commentary is actually thinking about the movie and discussing things. The whole reaction of itself was really good and I'm glad you guy's actually pay attention to the movie
I feel like peeta puts her first, gale doesnt really, not in the same way peeta does
It also helps that peeta and Kat is share a bond that no one could possibly understand
NO WAY i just watched the other one where you guys watch the original and i was so sad you didn't have another one but now it's here
Timing is everything ;) glad you’re here!
Your dedication to the opening bit is impressive. Very well done. Dude even got stanley tucci’s crazy hair and laugh perfectly!
7:08 THE TOOCH🤌🏻
The TOOCH!!!
Your intros are the absolute best! They really set you apart! I love it!
Thank you so much!!😊
I love that you guys are loving this series! It is *SO GOOD*. Catching Fire is particularly incredible in my opinion!
The capitol citizens basically said “preteens and teenagers in the games are fine. We draw the line at unborn babies!”
They don't care about random unborn babies. They care in this case cause it's their favorite celebrities's baby.
Hellloooooo good gents!! 😂 you are so extra and im here for it, intro 100/10
Soul!!!!!! Thank you so much!
Probably my favourite new reactors I’ve found for a long time. Keep it up guys! Happy New Year. I hope this year brings you a couple new play buttons for the background 💪🏼
Happy new year! And that is 🥹 so sweet
26:30 the holograms all fought like the other tributes. They all just watched her kill them and barely break a sweat 😳
Lol I've been checking the page for this one every single day since the first Hunger Games reaction! And usually only do that for new Ren reactions! 🤣🤣🤣
Welcome back! 😂
