I am dumbstruck at what a stunning painting you created in such a short time. This may be my new favorite of yours. I love the energy, the color, the composition! And you accomplished it while talking about your process the entire time!
This guy nails it, especially that bombshell wave splashing against the rocks. I've been an artist for 50yrs. Never scene a artist use the palette knife like he does. He's a master at it.
Richard, I hope you don't mind. But I used this painting of yours to help me. 2 years ago. I had a major stroke. I have lost the use of my right arm. I watched you not only for your talent, but also because you are lefthanded, which as helped me paint again. Thank you. Michael🙏
Fabulous high energetic painting & displaying mastery of your palette knife to create such a realistic and stunning effect of the crashing of waves on the rocks, feels like that they‘re jumping out of your painting. Truly amazing! Creative art at its best! Very much appreciated your „creative thought processes“ & as to your „whys“ ! 👍👏😉🙏
Thank you so much, Richard , for your talent and time that you share with us. Your art is special , unic and make it look so easy, but it is not. All the best in the world and see you for your next masterpiece.
The Aussie bob Ross. A painter who has amazing flow and someone I can learn from in my beautiful landscape rather than a foreign snowy wilderness that bob ross teaches
What can I say...your talent and skills are a amazing and I thank you for the opportunity to see them in progress. That's worth a million feelings when I watch it. 🥰
The shoreline of a Beach is so fresh and clean the Ocean's roar if you will I love the Water's Bubbles crash hard then go soft and you represent that clearly in this colorful dance you painted. I would of liked more Spray from the Water though. Beautiful painting Richard especially those glistening wet Rocks or Boulders.
Wow! So impressive! You make all those difficult angles and depths look so easy to paint. I would be lost trying to capture that! Beautiful work and so surreal. Crashing waves are so calming to me. Simply marvelous! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hello Richard, I agree with you, watching the waves is mesmerizing: they are fleeting moments and perpetual restarts. Anyway, the one you painted is absolutely beautiful and very realistic. We could almost fear that it will sweep over us. Fortunately, the wet rocks (also beautifully represented) put a little distance and protect us! Thank you for this beautiful moment. Have a good week.
Just amazing! What a beautiful coast and captured with simple colors and high energy! Thanks for explaining the "whys" of your choices. As a palette knife artist, I know how hard it is to allow the rough spots to remain. But, from a few steps back, the magic happens, and it all makes sense! That's my favorite thing in creating paintings! God bless!
👋Hello Richard, you have created another exquisite painting! The boiling water crashing onto the boulders almost looks like Yellowstone geysers, so powerful, so vigorous that many rocks on the coast are without any ridge and their polished surfaces appear as smooth as silk. You captured this big wave masterfully, it contains so much movement and energy, and it looks fantastic. Beautiful colors all over. I always like the turquoise and greenish parts in a seascape, and I was wondering, "When is he going to put a little turquoise on it?" and then you did. This color is a real eye-catcher, even though it's almost just a spot in this large painting. The small yellow, blue and red areas are also interesting. But all in all, the entire artwork is so well done that your eye wants to linger on every part of it for as long as possible. - A feast for the eye, Richard, excellent ! Thank you, be blessed, and take care.👍💖
Wow so Powerful looking at your painting feel strong wind and fresh breeze of Ocean on my Face. Like the sound of ocean, wave rushing and struggle run over each other so much to see on you Beautiful Painting! Richard You are an inspiration of Art. l Like your Art a lot!
G'day mate, a wave out to you with this one. Light and shadow tones really bring this chaotic scene to life. Great depth from rocks through wave to that very nice sky. Subtle trickles of water over rock, pounding surf breaking, the "hard and soft", the "lost and found". It's all there. There is emotion throughout this scene and the finishing accents are on point. Great capture Richard. Cheers, Rich
The Southern Coast of SA is a wonderful place. You've captured the power and majesty of the Southern Ocean so evocatively. Only a painting could capture this. Photographs never capture the awesome intensity of nature in the raw. Great piece, Richard. Petral Cove is one of my favourite haunts and this work puts me there again.
You totally captured the energy, movement, colors and dynamic spirit of the waves. Combine all that and the music at the end and you brought me to tears!
I love this painting, such beautiful colours and capturing such movement in that wave, makes me want to be there, but hey, your video is the next best thing to it , thank you so very much for sharing ❤
Hi Richard! Great, great video, I do love how you capture the beauty and force of the ocean! I got the big knife out and tried to follow you, so much fun! Thank you for sharing and teaching!
Hello Richard, wow, fabulous painting, stunning work, it came alive to me at 35 minutes in,. Master of the pallet knife great 👍🖌️🎨🔪, I'll also watch this on my big screen, phone is a tad small,. Thank you for your time, 👍🙂
Hi Richard, you must be very happy with this one! You knocked it out of the park. I think this is one of your best and truly one of the best paintings of the ocean I have ever seen ! Love it 🇨🇦
Been painting about 3 years now and just started working on wood as well as canvas. You wood I find takes longer to dry but I used gesso on the board first and left it fairly wet. It helped a lot with blending but like I say took forever to dry. Certainly learned a lot watching you do this. Great commentary on tones and on hi lights with thicker texture. Thanks for the lessons.
Richard this is amazing, the energy and movement makes it possible to feel the dampness of the air.Although your videos are entertaining I watch them because you are a very good teacher. Simple, clear, and direct.Very useful information. Deborah Prichard
I just want to copy you! 😭 My ego won’t let me just copy, but I hope I can learn a lot from you. I think your paintings are just perfect. Love how you work in the whole spectrum of light.

Hi Richard, Paul from the UK here. I just wanted to say how much I love your work and the way you make it. Amazing technique, if only I could emulate it, just a bit. 👍
As usual, an amazing work of art from an excellent artist. And Richard, please get a step stool or a large adjustable studio easel to help you reach the top part of your big canvases. You have more than fifty years of painting to accomplish! So spare your self of pain or other issues that might arise from that twisting and uneven stretching. I love your work!
Man, I could physically feel you being in the zone! Not to take anything away from your other work, but this is my favourite painting thus far. Art making at its best.

Very nice Richard! As usual, I enjoyed the video. Also the little bits of your thought processes when creating the energy, very solid. Thanks.
another fantastic painting. the motion you created in it makes me anticipate the dull, whooshing thump when that wave collapses into spray and foam.
I like the strokes and the deep look of the picture. You can see the live of waves.
Thank you again ! That is so beautiful 👍🤩🥰😍❤️
Fabulous. So stoked to find your page. Yes!
