@@stevecade857 That is a great comment. I drive a Fiat 500e with a real life range of around 150-175 miles. I love everything about the car but I only every charge from home and would only take it for longer trips once the charging infrastructure improves.
@@stevecade857 You make a good point, hence why I will only have one of my electric vehicles and will keep a dinosaur juice-burning car for those long journeys. I have a GTE and an S3, and the GTE doesn't have enough range for me in electric mode (only 25 miles)
@@CarsForPaul We have a JCW Clubman (wife like Mini) and an e208. So we're a hybrid household. The e208 does the commuter and general running around with the Clubman holidays away and long journeys. I love the e208 for its use case, it's ideal, and even more convenient than an ICE car as charging at home overnight you have a full tank and no need to visit any stations. Its 220 mile quoted range is probably nearer to a true 190 mile and 60% of that being around 120 mile. So you're 120 mile before you need to charge again. You can stretch that by charging to 100% (150 miles) before longer journeys but you don't want to keep the car at 100% for days at a time. EVs are very good with the right use case but for me they'll never stir my sole like a living, breathing ICE powered car. Just great A to B, get the job done vehicles. Quiet, efficient, relaxing and easy to drive. All this accelerates like a bullet from a gun type nonsense is wasted once you arrive at the first corner and the extra weight from all the batteries lets you know it's better as a GT type car.
I loved the review. I ordered one of these in May for early next year delivery and I’m looking forward to driving it on the Austrian mountain roads! I currently have the e-niro which I love but this is a game changer.
Electric seats are one of those things that you feel like the car needs to have it if it costs a decent amount of money, but in practical terms you adjust it to however you want and basically never touch it again (unless multiple people are driving). I probably wouldn't even notice for some time if someone took away my electric seat controls.
I was waiting for this video.... It is exactly as I expected... "a game changer!" At a bargain of a price. Well cheaper than the Mustang E-GT. Surprisingly no mention of Jayemm, yet you were together in Sweden.
@@PetrolPed Shame I don't have & don't use Facebook. But you are both lucky men to be road testing such a game changing car.... The EV6 GT really takes it to Ford, Tesla, Lotus, BMW, VAG & China...!! The gauntlet has truly been thrown down!
I had a 2018 KIA Optima and loved every thing about it. My concern with a KIA is the high number of safety recalls and engine problems. I know every brand has recalls but I'm surprised why KIA still hasn't fixed the engine gremlins that still plague this otherwise excellent brand. Another great video. Thank you.
The fact that Kia allows you to drift this vehicle is REALLY cool. What an awesome ride. Keep up the amazing work! Really want a Kia EV6 or Hyundai Ioniq 5

Track? This is a 2.3 tones car mate with a lot of ,,boat,, behavior.Get yourself a Corsa or Clio shitbox, strip it out, straight exhaust, air intake, some grippy wheels and tires, coilovers and VOILA,you'll eat down the track ;) for like 4000$ or less
Stockholm...business trips..the Ericsson AXE10...them were the days😀...Thanks for a great posting on what looks like another winner for Kia. I don’t have the underpants for a car that fast but it really shows the progress this brand is making. Love the Spinal Tap reference too.😂
Evening PP Just back from taking my wife and three boys to their first Santa Pod Mopar Weekend of muscle cars, drag racing and ironically I’m watching your video of an EV that could compete with some of the cars we saw at the weekend and possibly never to be seen in the future as Petrol will be a thing of the past. Great car
As someone who has been waiting (almost) patiently for the delivery of an Ev6 GT-Line AWD (321bhp) version to replace my 3-year-old Jaguar I-pace. I was always considering waiting for the GT as the GT-line was down on power, sitting on standard springs and just not quite the dynamic drive the I-pace is. I'm not too bothered about the manual seats, although the zero gravity party trick in the Electric seats of the other models is quite nice. I am confused that the UK spec GT doesn't mention the sunroof that's on the GT-Line though. That makes for a much lighter and airier cabin but does seem to be on the model you tested. The on paper range of the GT is much less than the GT-Line (314 miles down to 263 miles) but my experience of Kia EV's is that they are much more capable of getting close to their tested figures in the real world compared to the Jag that is waaaaay off. Finally, you mentioned the satin grey. I'm really baffled why they keep sending out test vehicles in this colour as they stopped taking orders on ALL models for that colour months ago with no date as to when it will be available. So, for now, the GT will only be available in White or Black!, how boring.
I also have an I Pace and I am attracted to the GT Kia especially with a 0-60 in under 3.5 seconds however…. The interior on the I Pace is just superb & mine in White with the Black Pack, Panoramic Roof & 22” Diamond Cut Alloys looks fantastic. The interior dashboard of the Kia looks absolutely bland & sparse!! Could you really give up your I Pace for that Kia dashboard? I know I couldn’t. It’s a real let down but I guess that’s what a Korean car gives you. It’s stopped my buying one especially with that bland cheap looking steering wheel compared to the I Pace!!
I am very happy with my EV6 AWD 77,4 kWh with all packs, excluding the too small sunroof and Meridian Soundsystem. We regularly make some 517 km, highway max. here 120 km/h, Region very mountainous for perfect regen. My dealership has also Jaguar besides Kia and so I could compare. Nice car too but no updates since first show and far away from Kias 800 Volt-System. This is more than just the level of Audi eTron GT, costing three times as much my car with the same accessories. Same with Porsche Taycan but they are so close due to the fact that Mate Rimac, Porsche, Hyundai Group and now Bugatti sit in the same boat. This is besides Tesla the new haute vole in electric cars and Kia is the new Audi. Bad for Jag that offers nothing convincing actually for the price, it‘s just a nice beauty model but the mix is rather outdated now. A little better suspension is not all and one of the best with 30 years at BMW M Sports, Albert Biermann, made the fine tuning of the EV6. The drivetrain and dampers are unique in industry an just in use at BMW M and Maserati. The GT must be even better…😎😍
It’s not killing the other car makers and they must produce many of them in numbers not a couple of thousand per year in order to be competitive for Kia! Markups will suppress sales. That being said, it’s a great looking car with great power!
Thanks for a great review! After being a serial BMW Buyer, latterly M models, I got a Tesla M3P (we’ve also had 3 x i3s). KIA have really upped their game. I never thought I would buy a KIA(!) but my GT is now built and scheduled to be here at the beginning of December 😃
The lime is show stopping for me too. But not in the way it is for you! hopefully they offer other options. I love my Kia Niro EV. Its all I need, but I enjoy the fact that Kia is disrupting the market. All power to them!
Hi Ped A very interesting teaser into a car that could be a game changer in its market segment.🤗 Love the styling and overall appearance. As brand ambassador to Henry they must allow you to do a part 2 covering the details you were not able to cover in Sweden, including RANGE in the real world. Looking forward to that one.
I have a GT on order but don’t agree with your comments on the manual seats. With an electric seat you could have memory settings for different drivers and just hit the button for your setting and have same position every time. Manual you’ll be guessing every time if that’s what you had it at. Also more advanced the keys could be programmed to you and would adjust to your setting when you unlock the car. The reason these are manual control is cause they are out of Hyundai N cars and aren’t available with electric controls.
@@caoim that all depends if you are the only driver. But when you let someone else drive the car and they adjust the seat and you can never get it back how you had it.
@@peterc4509 That’s what I actually meant. I share a car with my wife and thanks to the memory seats it’s always in the good position when I enter the car. I don’t need to push any button or so. I cannot imagine anything better than that.
Peter…another of your very best reviews! Clear, informative, inspirational and relevant. I have been thinking of the Iconiq5 but now maybe I should look at Kia…hmm….so are the dealers any good at customer service and what is the ownership experience like?? Great video as always! Really interesting car, I'm not sure I'm going to cancel my Model Y order but this is far less polarising than a Tesla and no doubt more comfortable - a very credible car! A long termer would be interesting to see how range is affected by performance
@@PetrolPed For me the difference between a Tesla and any other EV is the sheer level of integration between the car, the Tesla App and the global charging structure - it's all a bit nerdy but very cool. Will be interested to watch your review!

Must be industry or press but even Kia UK don’t have their cars yet. The only cars out there are effectively still prototypes. Like the ones we drove in this video 👍
It's a great stunt for KIA to build this car. Still have my doubts on EV's and SUV's so I would love to see a lightweight coupé with half the weight and half the power of this one. Just for the fun of it. Great video though. Cheers!
VAG going to be a bit worried. Point with elec seats is if the key is coded, by time it's unlocked and you're getting in, the seat, wheel, belt etc will have reset. Agree about the weight of all the motors though.
@@PetrolPed dye some plain white baby anti scratch mitts, userID problem solved, also stops pocket linings getting snagged/ripped. Great if you've multiple sets floating about 🙂.
Great review - thanks. I think the industry has a bit of an issue with making cars available to the buying public way too long after releasing production versions of them so that by the time we can get one they are already quite old models - taking Tesla’s Model Y in UK for example - it was years old by the time it arrived. I have a BMW i4 M50 on order for delivery this month but it’s already nearly an 18 months old car. Kia’s great EV6 GT is another example - I had my name down for it over a year ago but had no clue when it would come so gave up waiting and now it’s only available by next May or June. There is one big consolation - we can switch cars without taking the usual depreciation hits and end up driving a nice variety of cars without it costing much!
You bring up a very fair point. It's as we know all got to do with supply and demand. Currently demand is hugely higher that the supply of cars that manufactures can produce. Part shortages are of course really not helping. As you've suggested the lead time for any new cars are big and that's something the industry need to sort out quickly.
It is a monster, but naturally you do sacrifice the range for that additional spice. The seats look incredible, but I'm still not completely sold on the display setup /hvac etc vs the GV60 Sport Plus which I have turning up very shortly. I had been waiting for this model, it's faster, significantly cheaper than the Genesis on my work deal, but it would be another long wait, so Genesis it was. Of course we don't NEED to go this quick, but that instant acceleration sure puts a massive grin on my face.
The EV6 is simply STUNNING inside and out. Just the right blend of futuristic with mainstream in the exterior design and the interior is modern and fresh. Those seats look SUPER comfy but look like they would hold me in place on spirited drives on the back road. What an impressive vehicle. The fact that it is among the fastest to charge is insane. Beautiful vehicle.
The EV6 is a awesome vehicle, it's just too bad that it's max range is only 310 miles. Within the next 5 years, most vehicles in it's price range will be around the 500 miles range mark making all these current EV's not worth buying unless you are very wealthy and are able to upgrade whenever you want
Great video! As you test more EV you will heve to change your name to Electrical Ped or EV Ped or I don't know where I stand anymore Ped...😂 Keep up the good work and have a nice day!
Manual seats are ok if you only need to adjust one way. But me and the wife have them different in all directions, so manually, would take forever to get right. Love my leccy memory seats. One setting per key fob. Just unlock the car, and by the time I’ve opened the door, it’s almost done, adjusting in all directions at once. Plus the infinite adjustments for my bad back. 👍
9:00 haha - I love that argument against electric seats... :D But for real: In a car with electric seats, you unlock the car and the seat automatically positions itself according to the last setting used and saved on the keyfob you are using. No adjustment needed at all for the electric version (same for the steering column ;)). So yeah, I think it's a bummer the opted for manual seats in a 2.2t vehicle. Those 10kg wouldn't have hurt..
Great review Ped…looks like a great all round car. Scenery looked like rural Nottinghamshire 😎 Could you explain how all the ‘Press car’ / ‘embargo’ process works?
This was filmed a couple of weeks ago. All journalists there sign a piece of paper saying they will not share ‘driving impressions’ until a specific date and time. We can share still photos but not what we think of the car. It’s great for us RUclipsrs as it gives time to edit the video. The embargo lifted at 0001 European time today. If you were to out anything out before this you wouldn’t be invited again 😂😂
That’s quite a machine and compared to an equivalent Audi and Porsche it’s quite a decent price. Great review Pete, bet you loved the drift mode 👍. Did you mention the range?
Looks a really nice car and your point about the difference between sized drivers is a good one but it makes me wonder why more manufacturers don't follow Tesla's lead on this. Not only will a Tesla remember each drivers seat & steering wheel position it'll remember each drivers air vent position, cabin temperature settings, mirror position, general settings like steering wheel weight, it'll even remember each drivers account log in to Spotify & TuneIn radio. And when you unbuckle your stay belt it'll move the seat & steering wheel into an 'easy access' position so in your case, the seat won't be too far forwards making it difficult to climb in.
@@PetrolPed I knew lots of manufacturers have electric seats that adjust to each drivers preference but I don't know that they adjusted other settings such as mirror settings, driving settings such as Sport/Comfort modes and HVAC settings.

Thanks you my friend. They do have their plus points 👍
I loved the review. I ordered one of these in May for early next year delivery and I’m looking forward to driving it on the Austrian mountain roads! I currently have the e-niro which I love but this is a game changer.
Cool 😎
Great review Pete. Certainly a looker in the EV world. Think the 300hp version is more than enough for a family wagon though. 👍
Oh yes a real looker🙄
Yeah, you’re probably right there 😜👍
@@wcads623 welcome to the same era when we had that Fiat Multipla, the era where most EV's look like shit, apart from Audi,Porsche and somewhat Tesla
Electric seats are one of those things that you feel like the car needs to have it if it costs a decent amount of money, but in practical terms you adjust it to however you want and basically never touch it again (unless multiple people are driving). I probably wouldn't even notice for some time if someone took away my electric seat controls.
Agree. I dont really need the electric car seat settings on my car that much, so I won´t be missing those.
Electric seats typically have more granular control of seat settings. So you can get the seat position "just right".
I was waiting for this video.... It is exactly as I expected... "a game changer!" At a bargain of a price. Well cheaper than the Mustang E-GT. Surprisingly no mention of Jayemm, yet you were together in Sweden.
He was sat in the car while I was doing stuff to camera. I just struggled with the length of the vid. Going to put a vid on Facebook instead 👍
@@PetrolPed Shame I don't have & don't use Facebook.
But you are both lucky men to be road testing such a game changing car.... The EV6 GT really takes it to Ford, Tesla, Lotus, BMW, VAG & China...!! The gauntlet has truly been thrown down!
Eco mode gives 50% power. That's nearly 300bhp. I would think that is comfortable more than many of us have in our own cars.
Yep 👍
I had a 2018 KIA Optima and loved every thing about it. My concern with a KIA is the high number of safety recalls and engine problems. I know every brand has recalls but I'm surprised why KIA still hasn't fixed the engine gremlins that still plague this otherwise excellent brand. Another great video. Thank you.
the real reason for the manual seats in the gt is because they can sit lower compared to the electric ones :)
The fact that Kia allows you to drift this vehicle is REALLY cool. What an awesome ride. Keep up the amazing work! Really want a Kia EV6 or Hyundai Ioniq 5
👍
Brilliant video fella! I honestly want one! Fast, fun and stunning.
I was already impressed by the circa 300bhp one can’t wait to get my hands on one of these to test and review myself 🙌❤️

@@PetrolPed awesome fella, cannot wait to try 🙌😎

Fantastic review of a great car. Congratulations to you and KIA👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks 👍
Great review. I think this is going to be a very popular EV for the after market with mods. We'll probably see this car on the track. I love the styling, now with performance to back it up it's going to be a real contender.

Just back from taking my wife and three boys to their first Santa Pod Mopar Weekend of muscle cars, drag racing and ironically I’m watching your video of an EV that could compete with some of the cars we saw at the weekend and possibly never to be seen in the future as Petrol will be a thing of the past.
Great car
Not thought of it like that 😳
As someone who has been waiting (almost) patiently for the delivery of an Ev6 GT-Line AWD (321bhp) version to replace my 3-year-old Jaguar I-pace.
I went to order one, got to the colour and they said black or white. I decided not to order.
Very exciting 👍
The lime is show stopping for me too. But not in the way it is for you! hopefully they offer other options. I love my Kia Niro EV. Its all I need, but I enjoy the fact that Kia is disrupting the market. All power to them!
Flipping heck - that’s mclaren f1 fast! Dude, that’s immense.
Yep 👍
Great car, great review. Totally disagree on the seats though. Elec memory seats are the way forward when you share a car with a tiny wife 😀
YES PLEASE as I think the design is great and now with that power, lottery numbers please.

Sound very nice. I wonder when they come here.
Another great episode really interesting keep up the good work 👌

I would like to see that drivetrain in a Stinger. Now that would be cool !. It would certainly live up to its name.
Very nice nice, faster than any five door five seat petrol car...
Hi Ped
A very interesting teaser into a car that could be a game changer in its market segment.🤗 Love the styling and overall appearance. As brand ambassador to Henry they must allow you to do a part 2 covering the details you were not able to cover in Sweden, including RANGE in the real world. Looking forward to that one.
I hope to get one either from Kia UK or Hendy. It’s high on my want list 😂
Very nice indeed..and the fun,very nice car..great vid Pete,as always,thx again
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Another great car review, very professional and informative. Thank you.
Thanks Patrick 👍
My neighbors brought this for such powerful car sure is very plain under the radar yet other neighbour got porche taycan looks fast not even moving.
Hey nice video ofc is better that price of that porche I like this gt V6 top best stability quality bravo Kia.
It’s just a personal preference 👍
It’s not a personal preference when the seats are already in the correct position when you enter the car, it’s just better. Always.
I agree with the power seats. It takes forever to recline and back up.
😂
You have 2 default presets near the doorhandle, doesn't take that long 😅I just press it and start driving
Peter…another of your very best reviews! Clear, informative, inspirational and relevant. I have been thinking of the Iconiq5 but now maybe I should look at Kia…hmm….so are the dealers any good at customer service and what is the ownership experience like?? I think a long termer is a necessity to tell us so have a word in somebody’s ear! Well done Peter…the best as always😀😀😀Richard
Great video as always! Really interesting car, I'm not sure I'm going to cancel my Model Y order but this is far less polarising than a Tesla and no doubt more comfortable - a very credible car! A long termer would be interesting to see how range is affected by performance
I hope to be filming with a Y next week 👍
@@PetrolPed For me the difference between a Tesla and any other EV is the sheer level of integration between the car, the Tesla App and the global charging structure - it's all a bit nerdy but very cool. Will be interested to watch your review!
@@rentowl tbf i'de rather pick the Kia since it'll still feel like a traditional car instead of the extrema minamilsim the model Y is trying to achieve.
@@m.ahussain4005 It's a good point but I think the interior is a love it or hate it thing. I know they aren't for everyone but I'm willing to take the risk as Model Y's are actually appreciating in value at the moment so if I do decide I'd prefer an EV6 GT instead then I shouldn't lose any money if I sell it ... or that's the theory anyway 🙂
I'd be hard pressed to choose this over a Model Y, but the value can't be ignored! It's crazy how fast the EV space is developing!

0:18 it wouldn't look out of place if you layer a engine sound "Eeeeeeeng stustustuuustuustuu bang bang"
It's a great stunt for KIA to build this car. Still have my doubts on EV's and SUV's so I would love to see a lightweight coupé with half the weight and half the power of this one. Just for the fun of it. Great video though. Cheers!
I’d like that too 👍
VAG going to be a bit worried. Point with elec seats is if the key is coded, by time it's unlocked and you're getting in, the seat, wheel, belt etc will have reset. Agree about the weight of all the motors though.
VAG should be worried. I get the key coding thing. Just need to remember to pick up the right set of keys 😂
Superb video...informative and enjoyable.
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Been hanging out for this . Great review, love the car, be interesting to see the price point here in NZ.
Yep…that’s all the reasons you need 😜👍
Hell Again, Mr Petro Ped, enjoyed your review, however having watched 'Misha', it is a very capable car, WOW. Regards, RichardA.
Sadly changing the channel name is not an option 😥👎
Manual seats are ok if you only need to adjust one way. But me and the wife have them different in all directions, so manually, would take forever to get right. Love my leccy memory seats. One setting per key fob. Just unlock the car, and by the time I’ve opened the door, it’s almost done, adjusting in all directions at once. Plus the infinite adjustments for my bad back. 👍
Great on Pete!!!

9:00 haha - I love that argument against electric seats... :D
But for real: In a car with electric seats, you unlock the car and the seat automatically positions itself according to the last setting used and saved on the keyfob you are using. No adjustment needed at all for the electric version (same for the steering column ;)). So yeah, I think it's a bummer the opted for manual seats in a 2.2t vehicle. Those 10kg wouldn't have hurt..
I think I need this in my life ! Shame about the panoramic roof not been available in UK

Could you explain how all the ‘Press car’ / ‘embargo’ process works?
This was filmed a couple of weeks ago. All journalists there sign a piece of paper saying they will not share ‘driving impressions’ until a specific date and time. We can share still photos but not what we think of the car. It’s great for us RUclipsrs as it gives time to edit the video. The embargo lifted at 0001 European time today.

That’s quite a machine and compared to an equivalent Audi and Porsche it’s quite a decent price. Great review Pete, bet you loved the drift mode 👍. Did you mention the range?
It’s about 250-270 miles…but not if you are going full send in GT mode 😂😂😂
It really is a good looking car.
17:16 you can see a dif trim of the IONiQ 5 in the background. Those wheels do not look familiar. That may be the N Line
Lots of manufacturers have this kind of feature. Just never really worked for me 😬
@@PetrolPed I knew lots of manufacturers have electric seats that adjust to each drivers preference but I don't know that they adjusted other settings such as mirror settings, driving settings such as Sport/Comfort modes and HVAC settings.
