My brothers and I had a ton of those play sets. They were great. Such a big variety of figures and vehicles. You could reimagine them as any characters you wanted to play. Man, I miss those!
The Adventure People were so much fun! My favorite was the “North woods trailblazer” camping set. I got it one Christmas and had “Hawk” stolen immediately at our family gathering. So “Brad” had to set up camp by himself until he was joined by Luke Skywalker and Han Solo (about a year later). The toys were very durable, functional and fun. And kudos to Fisher Price for keeping the line alive in the form of Imaginext figures. I have a son with Down syndrome and these toys have been amazing for him. He and I can sit down and play with these for hours. They’re safe and easy to play with - and I get to relive some fun memories with my son. I just wish some of these old sets were revisited and reissued for the kids now.
i dont mean to be off topic but does anybody know a tool to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly lost the login password. I appreciate any help you can offer me!
@Adriel Maximiliano thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
I had three of these sets. The Fisher price adventure people are so incredible and I believe are highly underrated. Amazing quality and the themes, as you said, were what made my mom, who was a single parent and had to watch every dime, buy these sets for me with enthusiasm. I was already 10 when these came out and the ages were 4 to 9 but I could care less. They were to cool to ignore just because I was a year older than the suggested age for these toys. These are definitely worthy of collecting. Loved that you could buy the figure's with the set's and vehicles as well as separately in case you lost them. They also sold fantastic individual characters that were only available separately. Fisher price also gave the figure's names, jobs or careers giving the child a chance to give the figures names. That was so cool! You did a great review and brought back found memories of me, my cousin's and my friends spending hours playing with these marvelous toys. Thanks again!
I had the Seashark and I had a great time in the tub with it. It became a Cobra boat a few years later. :) My cousin had the blue diver and man did I wish that he could join my crew. I also had the orange motorcross dude. Today, I have the Space Commander, Clawtron and the X-Ray man in space suit from the Firestar in my collection and they still make me dream. I think that Fisher-Price tried to capture the spirit of AP through their Imaginext line, they even made a few Adventure People characters in that line, but the style is more pre-school.
I had air sea rescue and remember it's importance having an African-American figure who looked like me. As an adult I wound up re-aquiring that figure. I work in health care, that figure inspired me. Also bought on eBay a working electronic alpha probe.
Didn’t have the Falcon as a kid...but had the Alfa Probe! Was always a awesome toy. So many of my friends had the Falcon but the Probe....that was special! Thanks so much Grandma and Grandpa! So many hours playing with all my adventure people.
I still have all of them from my childhood - Sea Explorer, Wilderness Patrol, Mountain Climbers, Emergency Rescue Truck, Rescue team, Super Speed Racers, Daredevil Skydiver, Daredevil Sports Van, Air-Sea Rescue Copter, North Woods Traiblazer and the Wild Animal Safari. My niece played with them when she was younger.
Oh man, as a young action figure fanatic in the 70s, and a Navy brat, Adventure People were awesome because you could put a few in your pocket and entertain yourself wherever you were. I liked the outdoorsy ones, the hikers, divers, kayakers. Super durable, and plenty of accessories. They were great.
I was born in 1972 so I was a little too young to get some of the early sets. My parents were rather frugal so I didn't have a lot of the larger, more elaborate sets. However I remember the first one I got was the mountain climbers that came with the sleeping bags and the Motocross racers that came with the sidecar. I'm pretty sure we got a single cockpit airplane and most of the sea explorer from a rummage sale. My brother and I used to take the scuba tank accessory and wear them on our fingers pretending they were laser rings. one Christmas I got the set with the submarine and helicopter. That gelatinous octopus kept me fascinated for years. My showpiece of course was the space shuttle which I used as an audio-visual aid when I had to give a presentation in class about the actual space shuttle. Considering my limited toy money put the Adventure People in direct competition with Star Wars Fisher-Price did pretty well.
Those were my first two sets as well, and I also remember wearing the scuba tanks as a sort of ring. Would make the climbers scale various bookcases, while the motorcross team got taken to parks and sent flying off jumps.
Much, much love for Fisher Price's Adventure People!! Thank you for this video, because I feel that this toy line doesn't get the love that it deserves. Back in the day, all of the other kids that I played with, had at least one of the sets and several figures. Awesome memories of playing with these toys. I have a bunch of the figures and some of the sets today.
Oh my God! This brings back memories of great times! I just watched this with my wife and our 4 1/2 year old daughter (she plays with my old TV news van and adventure tent with her other toys). Thanks 😂👍🏼🙏🏼
I loved to play and still keep my three sets: Rescue Team, Sea Shark, and Aero-Marine Search Team (octopus and all). Fantastic toys, incredible memories.
I love the video. It brought so many memories back to me. I had three of the sets. I am 50 now, and my children still played with the few pieces I had left of the sets. The best construction toys of the 70's.
I had the Air Sea Rescue Helicopter and the Sea Explorer. The great thing about Adventure People sets was they were sort of intended to be played with outside. I can’t tell you how many times the helicopter rescued the boat from the creek near my house.
With all the retro toy reboots we are seeing, I wish they would reboot this series, it really was awesome.I remember having most of these as a kid. had as much fun with these as I did with He-Man
What a great video you made. This just brought back so many memories. I had about half of these sets. And my brother and I probadly got hundreds of hours of play time, with these toys. All of these toys I still have, but they are buried in my moms house. One day I will discover them, in my moms house and that will definitely be an enjoyable day. One thing I have to add. The durability of these toys where a amazing. These where toys that where built to last. Not like today's toys. And here is an example. My brother and I would have contests to see who could throw the parachute the highest. I won, but I was under a tree and the parachute got caught in a branch two stories up. That parachute, had the space figure from firestar 1 attached to it, hung up in that tree for about 22 years. After 20+ years the fabric and rubber straps of the parachute finally gave way and the space man from firestar 1 came down to the ground. The action figure paint was only faded somewhat. And he hung up in that tree for 20+ years of snow, ice , rain, hail and wind. Talk about durability.
I never had any Fisher-Price toys. Although they were something I enjoyed playing with when I visited cousins or friends. The Fisher-Price action sets of the late 70s I believe gave the company relevance to stay in-business. I truly miss the FP farm and auto-garage playsets, they were magical.
One of the best lines ever. Vividly remember my mum treating me to the skydiver as a kid.. also playing with my friends rescue copter. Loads of great memories. The sea explorer became a landspeeder too 😂
Had the red plane with pilot. I think I also had a deep sea diving set if such a thing existed. Fisher Price made great toys back then. Love these toys and the original little people.
I owned the parachute set, TV Van set, and the ambulance set. They were awesome and I spent many hours playing with my brother imagining different scenarios. The parachute set was the best I’ve ever seen.
The Alpha Probe was something I played with even after Star Wars came and took over. I think the camping set was the first action figures I ever had. And the robot guy was like another GI Joe BAT.
These vehicles were sooo rugged. I got them in the mid 70s as a little kid but was still using them for GIJoe in the mid 80s. They never broke and outlasted every other toy.
These were superb. I love the fact that there is no backstory to any of them - imagination filled in the gaps, and brought them to life. Anything was possible. Also, if something was meant to float, fly, or drive along, it did, and perfectly. And their accessories were always super cool, and the figures could hold, and use them. If I see any at yard sales, or in charity shops, I will buy them. The only figures similar in idea to them, powered by imagination, would have to be the dangerously addictive figures made by Chap Mei.
My brothers and I loved Adventure People! They were kind of before my time, but my brothers took good enough care of them that I got plenty of mileage out of them. My favorite set was the Alpha Star, as it was maybe the only one that was primarily mine, as my brothers had largely moved on by then. And it was just so damn cool! This is definitely a line I’d like to re-collect.
I had a number of these sets or pieces of sets, not sure where they came from just that they were in my toy box inventory. The parachute was really well made and that thing lasted for years. Super fun stuff.
The sculpt on the Gorilla of the Wild Animal Safari is just amazing. It feels great and is super durable. I had that set and I had forgotten about the snare nets and the tent, total nostalgia overload there. Great video BTW.
I had the sea explorer set when I was a kid. I also remember the male and female figures were later repainted as green androids (x ray man and woman). I replaced the sea explorers with the androids. I would also have other action figures (from different toy lines) in the boat. So it wasn't to unusual to see a Mattel Starbuck, Mego Mini Green Goblin, a Remco Frankenstein, a Kenner Chewbacca, along with the Green Androids exploring an "alien planet."
I actually used the speedboat as the Falcon (I was lucky enough to score a landspeeder). I was 5 when these figures came out, and they were really perfect for that age group...everything locked together, indestructible, and safe for that age group. I loved the space figures, and they ended up (along with Micronauts, Buck Rogers, and BSG) as part of a larger galaxy of adventures. Thanks for doing this one!
The ultimate play time was the Adventure people as Earth's civilians, GI Joe as the Military to fight off Star Wars Empire attacking earth with their allies...Shogun Warriors Mazinga and Godzilla. The pinnacle of cross toy series play time.
Sir, this is your best post! I had many fond memories of the alpha probe. My personal favorite was the ‘Alpha Star’. I would post a pic if I could. It was a motorized space rover with a trailer. The trailer had a small compartment for a small four wheeled robot and a ‘cage’ of sorts to hold a rubber four legged alien that came with the set. I think this was released towards the end of the lines run, but not sure. Freakin loved that thing.
I had the space vehicle with the pilot, and boy, those Fischer Prize toys were indestructible, literally, I had some figures ,like the weird space cyborg with the orange robotic arm, I put em on the star wars Cantina playset and they fit nicely
I love collecting these now! I'm still missing some, but I remember as a kid, my older brother wouldn't let me attach firecrackers to gijoes, but to these, yes! Also... the fireworks didn't do much but maybe leave a burn mark on them. I also remember being little, and dropping the firefighter figure into the toilet and freaking out over it... ma had to sanitize that a couple times! lol
Awesome! I still have my parachute guy (still works), the medical girl, first aid slumber bag and flip up backpack (tried but failed to put yoda in it back in ‘80), and the rafting duo- I used that raft as the poor mans S.W. landspeeder. As you said those toys were indestructible- many hours of fun with those things. 👍 on a side note: back when you did the Pod Stallions episode of Dune, you mentioned ( to the Famous Monsters third chair guy: sorry forgot his name) that you should do a Return of the Jedi episode- hopefully in the future the three of you could do one along with a 100% comic book episode- although it’s totally ok if you guys drift away on side topics... that’s the best part of every pod cast you do! Great Adventure People post! 👍✌️✌️👍🖖🖖🖖
I had the supersonic pilot shown at the end, he came with a F-15 like plane which accompanied my GI Joes. I had the firestar guy as well. I seem to remember there being a larger firestar themed set as well.
I've always admired and respected Fisher-Price for their toy designs and construction. They were so good that I suffered NO shame (meaning that I did not let the name "Fisher-Price", which was most known for making toys for toddlers and pre-schoolers) hinder my inclusion of having some AP figures interspersed with my Star Wars figures. I ignored the "recommended ages" on the packages if I exceed the eldest age, lol. They were great cos they fit most (if not all) the SW vehicles/playsets, and their hands were perfectly moulded to hold many of the small weapons/accessories of SW figures (can't say that about the Mego figures like Buck Rogers or Black Hole!)... and the fact AP touched on some outer-space/sci-fi elements just cemented the inclusion. AP figures also provided an excellent "generic" element of "extras" when recasting SW figures for "non-SW" adventures.
Made me wistful for all the good times with the Adventure people. Truthfully I played with them more than many of the other cooler toys. They could do anything.
My brother and I had so many of these sets, and they were likely the things I played with the most aside from my Barbies. I used to love to bring them in the bathtub. Off the top of my head, I recall having the TV van, the ambulance, the parachute, sea explorer (my fave!), Wilderness patrol, a motorbike set, and a scuba set. I used to take the sea explorer boat into our pool.
@@BrickMantooth yes, mine as well. And I played with my green scuba girl so much from the smaller scuba set, that both her legs broke off. I used the wheelchair from the little people hospital for her and decided that she was a double amputee😂. Apparently a shark bit off her legs….🤣
the sea explorer would eventually sink due to the wheel in the hull that allowed you to roll it on solid surfaces. whenever i would complain to my dad, he would say "well son, it's a SEA EXPLORER" i believe it was my first playset, followed by the jungle safari, and eventually that marine research set, which is the only one of those three that i actually picked out myself - so props to mom and dad for taking a flyer on the other two as well as the parachute and some others that did not make your list played with all of them extensively until Star Wars launched, at which point I abandoned the "people" but continued to utilize the vehicles to supplement my Jedi transportation options, and later for my GI Joes - these things held up
I still have my Wilderness Patrol set. My brother and I had a lot of Adventure People. They were the “humans” in our fantasy games. It always annoyed me that companies only made superheroes and monsters, but never civilians. Who are the monsters supposed to terrorize and who are the heroes supposed to save? How can you have origin stories and secret identities? Who is Jaws supposed to eat? Who is Godzilla supposed to stomp on?
Exactly Raymond. That were these figures came in for me aswell. Sometimes you could find loose ones at a yard sale for 10 or 25 cents you could use the jeeps for GIJoe. Could be Cobra hostages. Lots of fun to be had. Lol
I did not know much about this line and didn’t realize the Alpha Probe my uncle gave me (no box, probably yard sale) was by Fisher Price. In the 80s it was my go to mission shuttle for Yo Joe adventures. Thanks. Great video and great channel!
In 1975 through 1980, had a bunch of these and still have a few of them. All of the ones I had lasted for decades and some still look new. I still played with them after I started gettin Star Wars in 78 as they were the same scale. Yes indeed! Firestar 1 was my Battlestar Galactica Viper
I loved the Green Robot Lady figure! Then I had a used spaceship toy that you referred to as being like a Battlestar Galactica viper, but I didn't have the figure or the accessories for it. The van that included the motorcycle, biker and the parachute guy/van driver was also cool! :)
I had the Alpha Probe back in the day. I remember being non plusses at the time as I probably was expecting a Star Wars toy. However, the features of the toy and the size fitting the Star Wars line won me over.
Great video. Just seeing the sea adventure set and that helicopter set brought back such good memories. Thanks for taking me back to that carefree time.
Maaaan, the Alpha Probe and Action Team News van were HUGE toys for me as a kid! That van was so perfect as a mission van for my Joes to recreate stories from the comics. Thanks for stirring up some memories!
The Parachute set stands as the single best execution of a Parachuting toy ever. Everything about it was perfect. It was the perfect weight. You could throw the figure nice and high. The parachute always deployed and came down gently. Nice durable nylon shoot. Good long lasting silicone straps. Everything the right size. And just fun. No other toyline has gotten a parachuting figure any where near this good. As I type this I am looking at a new Lego Parachute. And you can tell that whoever designed it knew the Adventure People one. Sadly it's too lightweight to really work well. My second favorite was that Wilderness Adventure set. With the plane that connected to the boat and the truck. A driver for each and a dog. Perfection!
That's the set, the Wilderness patrol. I remember the pontoon, plane, vehicle, at least two dudes, the dog, the sleeping bag, rope and grapping hook. I don't recall the guy in the brown shirt.
Mind blown!! Totally forgot that I had (& still have) the deep sea diver with the float/airline and octopus and treasure chest ! I'm hit with orgasmic 'nostalgia waves'. (Thank you!)
Wow totally loved these guys as a young child, George the Zebra (of the Wild Animal Safari) was my best pocket buddy. As the Wilderness Patrol had my fav vehicles, that green land cruiser had clicking wheels I still remember that sound.
I love spotting things on a rewatch that I missed the first time around. That chunky blocky rescue helicopter? It resembles the way they were being drawn in several Saturday Morning Cartoons at the time. Look at “Lassie’s Rescue Rangers” and the Hanna Barbera Godzilla for some examples.
That news team was always on the scene when GIJoe and Cobra were battling it out. The Sea Explorer was my first Star Wars Landspeeder and Han Solo fits perfectly in that seat.
Recently picked up a lot that included the Alpha Probe, Alpha Interceptor, and Firestar 1. It was like Christmas 1975 all over again, except then it was the van set. Great toys!
The battery compartment of my Kenner X-Wing was open and the Adventure People, yellow helmet construction worker was always at work in there. His hands fit SO well! AP action figures, as well as Micronaut aliens filled out my Star Wars universe!
Just so you know, my obsession with this line is completely your fault, lol. I saw these on the plaid stallions website back in 08, or 09. The first thing that caught my eye was X-ray Man and X-ray woman. I have been collecting them ever since. Thank You for the introduction.
You didn't mention my favorite which was an ambulance or emergency vehicle type truck that opened from the side. I loved the series "Emergency " as a kid and this Fisher Price vehicle was their truck when I used to play rescue squad complete with my red Squad 51 plastic helmet lol
I had the Safari set. Got it for Christmas. The animals and figures are still in a box in my garage to this day. I don't know what happened to the vehicles, they may be in a box as well. I played with these for YEARS.
Wow. I had forgotten some of those until I saw the pictures. I remember the green van was shared by my action force guys and I still have the motorcycle and rider hanging around the house somewhere. Great video.
I had so many of these sets. The sidecar dirt bike was amazing. I also almost drowned in a fast moving creek in Colorado n when I was 5 while playing with my kayak set. Went to grab it and fell in. Some guy managed to pull me out fairly quickly. I could not swim at that point. What a time to be alive! Lol
I only had the parachute guy and the dirt bike stunt team as far as sets go (I adored them both!)... I scored Clawtron from an act of kindness from my Father... but I managed to swindle the green van from a rich neighborhood kid who was moving on to Star Wars figures at that point. Probably traded a Shogun Warrior or a micronaught for it. I really miss those toys. I miss the Parachute Guy, especially. Wasn't his name "Bill" or something? He was my "Adventure Guy"... Until Star Wars came along.
Yes the Alpha Probe was the coveted one from this line... never had one as a kid but always saw it in catalogs. I own 2 now.....🙂 The Widnerness Patrol and Sea Explorer sets were whst we had as kids
I only had two or three of the figures and I don't think any vehicles. My childhood (and still) friend had a lot of these sets and I remember these were well played with by us.
I often wish the Adventure People would return. Though I am too old to play with them, I would collect the crap out of those friendly little non-violent folks. It is nice to see Plaid Stallions has a presence on RUclips. I am ashamed it took me so long to find that out.
I always loved those Trailblazer figures (the Lumberjack and the guy that looked like Hannibal from the A-Team), and the space figures. Clawtron and the X-Ray man and woman were my favorites! I also enjoyed both versions of the forest ranger. The two motorcycle guys (with sidecar) are great too. I still have all of these, though some of my figures are pretty floppy at this point, but several are in excellent shape. I have the Scuba diver, the Captain of the Space Station, and the female X-Ray character still in the package!
Well that's a testament to the fun of the toy, I didn't even know the Astro Knight had a glider when it was handed down to me. ;) I enjoyed the dirt biker set, saw it in the pictures. In hindsight I wish I had more of these growing up.
I had the Sea Explorer and the set with the motor boat. You’ll never have to worry about your kids taking a bath with either one of those sets! They’ll stay in the tub for an hour, at least!😊
I never owned any when I was a kid. I don't think I ever saw them in the stores either. However I remember in 1979 visiting some family friends in Alabama and the two sons, who were about 2-3 years apart in age, must have had 50 of the people with various vehicles. The two that stood out to me were two translucent green aliens that resembled the Time Traveler from Mego's Micronauts lines. After seeing the Adventure People collection, I would have loved to have them when I was a kid.
i had the Alpha Probe and The Firestar 1 ships back in the day. I also had the Land Speed Racer as well as the Deep Sea Diver set which i believe came with an octopus. the card art for some of the action figures was really cool to in a way that was reminiscent of the ATARI cartridge label art.
I had the deep sea diver set which also came with a treasure chest and octopus. I actually preferred it to the Action Force version in the same scale in terms of moulding, material and play value. The adventure people would often act and double as the civilian population in my G.I. Joe/ Action Force games so my brother and I enjoyed playing with them way beyond their recommended age range by several years.
Absolutely Love the FPAP my Granny got me the Alpha Probe for Christmas 😊 and used it on many adventures 😉 It was a dead ringer for Buck Rogers ship that he froze up in and was thawed out 500 years later! Over the years I have become obsessed and still to this day but just about every FPAP items I run into I think I have probably 10 Alpha Probe’s along with my 1st 1 I got 😊 Love your Chanel
This brings back so many memories! Thank You Guys so much I enjoy Plaid Stallions a lot. I get to show My Kids the Adventure People I grew Up with , Yes I had the Safari that Christmas as well and felt the same about the news crew as You had then. LOL
My fave FP Adventure People set would be the Northwoods Trailblazer set, loved that cloth tent and how everything could pack up on the Jeep. Second would be the Wilderness Patrol, the combo of the sea-plane and dog was just the best one-two punch. Although, I used to have the dog ride in back of the plane; I'm sure that would be considered animal abuse in this day and age.
The Sport plane was a stand in for an X-wing as I did not have real one. I did have a Pilot Luke figure though and he went for many a ride in that plane! I also had the Trailblazer Jeep. It carried a lot of G.I. Joes around! Both were second hand toys and I am happy to say I still have them!
I built my own vehicles for my Adventure People out of: Erector sets, Tinker toys, Tente, Tupperware Building sets (both the early 70's and the late 70's sets, and even though they were very different their couplings were completely compatible with each others), and a Space themed construction set whose name I can not recall at the moment that was comprised of girders and the connectors looked like 20 sided hit Dice from an RPG but with holes in every flat side for the girders and it came with a quasi-futuristic Astronaut 3 3/4 action figure.
@@BrickMantooth This was before construx, and most of the pieces were Imperial Stormtrooper White, also it was somewhat fragile many of the connectors would split in half and the girders were almost as fragile on their ends. I purchased them at the now defunct Smitty's Big Town.
My brothers and I had a ton of those play sets. They were great. Such a big variety of figures and vehicles. You could reimagine them as any characters you wanted to play.
Man, I miss those!
Travis Hiltz great times! My nephew now is enjoying them. Build to last and spark the imagination!
I just wish some of these old sets were revisited and reissued for the kids now.
I played with my FP toys with my kids, it's such a wonderful tradition.

Thanks so much you saved my account!
I had three of these sets.

I had the Seashark and I had a great time in the tub with it. It became a Cobra boat a few years later. :)
My cousin had the blue diver and man did I wish that he could join my crew.
I really need to buy some of the space characters.

That's one thing I wish I had touched upon, thank you for sharing this, I really enjoyed reading it.
Cool I had the african american helicopter pilot always saving people life.

Born two decades too late for these but can only imagine how fun they were. I get a clue from just how fondly you speak of them. Another great video!
Glad that got communicated, thanks for watching.
Much, much love for Fisher Price's Adventure People!! Thank you for this video, because I feel that this toy line doesn't get the love that it deserves. Back in the day, all of the other kids that I played with, had at least one of the sets and several figures. Awesome memories of playing with these toys. Oh my God! This brings back memories of great times! I just watched this with my wife and our 4 1/2 year old daughter (she plays with my old TV news van and adventure tent with her other toys). Thanks 😂👍🏼🙏🏼
THat's so cool, my kids played with all my FPO stuff and now they're put away for grand kids although I'm in no rush.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I had the Air Sea Rescue Helicopter and the Sea Explorer. The great thing about Adventure People sets was they were sort of intended to be played with outside. I can’t tell you how many times the helicopter rescued the boat from the creek near my house.
Yeah, they could handle the outside, it's what made them great.
With all the retro toy reboots we are seeing, I wish they would reboot this series, it really was awesome.I remember having most of these as a kid. had as much fun with these as I did with He-Man
I would love to see a modern reboot!
Brick Mantooth Toys R Us here in Canada (ours never closed) have a series of toys that look a bit like these, but it’s generic low quality.
Brick Mantooth the series is called “adventure planet”. I think it’s as close we can get without it being an actual reboot
Wow, that is a testament to their durability if I ever heard one.
I remember getting a motorized space set with a trailer and an orange monster and loooooooooooving it.
Yeah that's the Alpha Star from 1983, a great looking toy!
Yeah, the Alpha Star monster was reissued in the Imaginext sets with the yellow astronaut. We have 3 of them. 👍
The sea explorer became a landspeeder too 😂
It was the perfect landspeeder!
Brick Mantooth certainly was, that little yellow sub/ diving device became a great little one man scout/ fighter craft too.
As I’m getting into bootleg /custom action figure making, I’ve rediscovered My love for Adventure People. I have so many stashed at my parents’ house.
they get used a lot in bootlegs, i love seeing that.
Had the red plane with pilot. I think I also had a deep sea diving set if such a thing existed. Fisher Price made great toys back then. Love these toys and the original little people.
LOVE the Little people!
I had 5 of the sets you mentioned. Some of the best toys from my early childhood.
I owned the parachute set, TV Van set, and the ambulance set. They were awesome and I spent many hours playing with my brother imagining different scenarios. The parachute set was the best I’ve ever seen.
The only adventure people toy i had was the motor bike and sidecar, but I had lots of fun driving it round the flower beds in our garden.
Totally had some of these....loved the parachute. I used to smuggle these figures to school in my socks since my mom checked my pockets.
Ha!
The Alpha Probe was something I played with even after Star Wars came and took over. I think the camping set was the first action figures I ever had. And the robot guy was like another GI Joe BAT.
Ha! He got drafted into Cobra?
These vehicles were sooo rugged. I got them in the mid 70s as a little kid but was still using them for GIJoe in the mid 80s. They never broke and outlasted every other toy.
I still have most of mine.
These were so tough that children played with mine.
I had a number of these sets or pieces of sets, not sure where they came from just that they were in my toy box inventory.
The parachute was really well made and that thing lasted for years. Super fun stuff.
WOW! I remember having that red stunt plane.
The sculpt on the Gorilla of the Wild Animal Safari is just amazing. It feels great and is super durable. I had that set and I had forgotten about the snare nets and the tent, total nostalgia overload there. Great video BTW.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
This was a perfect video. I loved these toys because they were nearly indestructible. I hope there’s a part two on the horizon!
Thank you, I do plan to do a follow up on the figures themselves.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing!
The ultimate play time was the Adventure people as Earth's civilians, GI Joe as the Military to fight off Star Wars Empire attacking earth with their allies...Shogun Warriors Mazinga and Godzilla. The pinnacle of cross toy series play time.
Yeah they definitely got into my Star Wars mix for sure, possibly even Star Trek the Motion picture.
I love hearing about your memories and cross-over scenarios!
Those later Adventure People Space characters filled up the Space 1999 Eagle nicely.
Alll three combined for post apocalypse for me
Now that sounds like some good times there! =D
Glad you enoyed it, you can see the Alpha Star Catalog page here: www.plaidstallions.com/fp/fpap2.html
Thanks Mark, really appreciate reading this. David will return shortly I hope, we save topics for him.
The extreme Sportset and the TV crew sets whee probly my first action figure toys, man I LOVED those things.
Wow, this really gives me nostalgia. These are probably my first toys. I had the ambulance set. Great video.
I agree, I had a lot of fun with them as a kid.
I loved these toys so much as a kid wanted all the ones showed very realistic for a kid
Yeah that sea explorer lived in my pool, so much so that the sun and the chlorine did a number on it's colour.
@@BrickMantooth yes, mine as well. And I played with my green scuba girl so much from the smaller scuba set, that both her legs broke off. I used the wheelchair from the little people hospital for her and decided that she was a double amputee😂. Apparently a shark bit off her legs….🤣
the sea explorer would eventually sink due to the wheel in the hull that allowed you to roll it on solid surfaces. whenever i would complain to my dad, he would say "well son, it's a SEA EXPLORER"
i believe it was my first playset, followed by the jungle safari, and eventually that marine research set, which is the only one of those three that i actually picked out myself - so props to mom and dad for taking a flyer on the other two as well as the parachute and some others that did not make your list
played with all of them extensively until Star Wars launched, at which point I abandoned the "people" but continued to utilize the vehicles to supplement my Jedi transportation options, and later for my GI Joes - these things held up
I still have my Wilderness Patrol set.
You make a very good point, I'm pretty positive I used my news guy as Perry White when playing with my pocket Superheroes.
It looks like a fun set, I think it came out after my time.
I had the Alpha Probe back in the day. I remember being non plusses at the time as I probably was expecting a Star Wars toy. However, the features of the toy and the size fitting the Star Wars line won me over.
Oh yeah it totally fit in.
Northwoods Trailblazer was awesome. With the Jeep and tent.
That tent looks awesome.
“I also want to tell you I did have friends.” Laughed out loud! Great video showcasing some of the greatest figures/vehicle toys of all time!
Yeah, I felt like i needed to make that disclaimer. ;)
Brick Mantooth, exactly what I would’ve said! Great channel, great podcast and awesome edutainment over-all!
I can’t believe FP hasn’t released these as commemorative sets or something. Such great toys. I had and still have a ton of these.
I'd be down for a commemorative SDCC style set.
I find that odd too. If they do release these I really hope they're unique. Like they were. Not overly detailed or articulated and some cutsie face
Great video. Just seeing the sea adventure set and that helicopter set brought back such good memories. Thanks for taking me back to that carefree time.
i'm glad to hear that.
(Thank you!)
totally welcome!
Great video! Just a few days ago at my folks, I found my Helicopter and Octopus from the Aero/Marine set. My fav!
Awesome find!
I think the Sea Explorer was everybody's first landspeeder, i did that too!
Thank you... this puts a nostalgic tear in my eye
that really makes me happy to hear, thank you for saying that.
Recently picked up a lot that included the Alpha Probe, Alpha Interceptor, and Firestar 1. It was like Christmas 1975 all over again, except then it was the van set. Great toys!
They really are terrific!
The battery compartment of my Kenner X-Wing was open and the Adventure People, yellow helmet construction worker was always at work in there. His hands fit SO well! AP action figures, as well as Micronaut aliens filled out my Star Wars universe!
My favorites were the green robot man and woman. We were poor so I only had the figures. The card art on their cards was awesome.
It was gorgeous.
I know what you mean. When we did get toys, we had to share. Kids today just don’t get it.
The wilderness set with the plane was my favorite.
Great video! And I love the quick snippet of Alice Coopers Identity Crisis song at the very start of the video. Good tune.
Clawtron, X-Ray Man and Brainoid were some of my favorite Adventure people figures.
They're great figures.
Astro Knight! I love that figure! I had the blue one.
Just so you know, my obsession with this line is completely your fault, lol. I saw these on the plaid stallions website back in 08, or 09. The first thing that caught my eye was X-ray Man and X-ray woman. I have been collecting them ever since. Thank You for the introduction.
My pleasure! That's one thing I'll take the blame for.
You didn't mention my favorite which was an ambulance or emergency vehicle type truck that opened from the side. I loved the series "Emergency " as a kid and this Fisher Price vehicle was their truck when I used to play rescue squad complete with my red Squad 51 plastic helmet lol
That is a really cool set but i went with the chopper.
I had the Safari set. Got it for Christmas. The animals and figures are still in a box in my garage to this day. I don't know what happened to the vehicles, they may be in a box as well. I played with these for YEARS.
me too
The kayak set was my favorite as a kid.
It's an awesome set, it worked!
Wow. I had forgotten some of those until I saw the pictures. I remember the green van was shared by my action force guys and I still have the motorcycle and rider hanging around the house somewhere. Great video.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it.
Lol
Oh wow, what a memory to have!
Sea Shark! I still have it and put it in my kids pool today.
I love all the stories of how many of our kids are playing with our childhood friends.
Sea Explorer and Aero-Sea Rescue Team were my favorites. Aero-Sea was awesome and lasted many many years as GI Joe accessories. :)
Yeah, hearing that a lot, makes total sense.
Yes the Alpha Probe was the coveted one from this line... never had one as a kid but always saw it in catalogs. I own 2 now.....🙂 The Widnerness Patrol and Sea Explorer sets were whst we had as kids
I had both of those, by Alpha Probe time I was all about Star Wars but I always looked to see what was new in AP.
Hey I'm glad you found us!
@@BrickMantooth You guys rock and rule!
I second the collecting of these toys should they ever get a re-issue. =D They're just that cool.
Loved AP and still have many sets. One in package but it's a little beat up. So much fun back then.
Holy Crap. I totally didn't remember until i saw it, i had a Firestar 1 as a kid.
it's a cool toy!
I had the Sea Explorer and the set with the motor boat.
You’ll never have to worry about your kids taking a bath with either one of those sets! They’ll stay in the tub for an hour, at least!😊
Hello, I just saw your video on Adventure People. Omg, ty! These were my favorite toys as a kid! You brought back so many memories, ty!
They were really fun toys and so well made!
i had the Alpha Probe and The Firestar 1 ships back in the day. I also had the Land Speed Racer as well as the Deep Sea Diver set which i believe came with an octopus. the card art for some of the action figures was really cool to in a way that was reminiscent of the ATARI cartridge label art.
The card art for the figures is awesome.
I had the deep sea diver set which also came with a treasure chest and octopus. I actually preferred it to the Action Force version in the same scale in terms of moulding, material and play value. The adventure people would often act and double as the civilian population in my G.I. Joe/ Action Force games so my brother and I enjoyed playing with them way beyond their recommended age range by several years.
ha, me too.
Absolutely Love the FPAP my Granny got me the Alpha Probe for Christmas 😊 and used it on many adventures 😉 It was a dead ringer for Buck Rogers ship that he froze up in and was thawed out 500 years later! Over the years I have become obsessed and still to this day but just about every FPAP items I run into I think I have probably 10 Alpha Probe’s along with my 1st 1 I got 😊
Love your Chanel
I loved Wilderness Patrol.
Construx?
@@BrickMantooth This was before construx, and most of the pieces were Imperial Stormtrooper White, also it was somewhat fragile many of the connectors would split in half and the girders were almost as fragile on their ends. I purchased them at the now defunct Smitty's Big Town.
